Day By Day Challenge-Part 4 (December)

Toward the end of summer, an awesome MFP named Nicole started this challenge. She is a full time student at PSU and a very active member of THON. She started setting small goals for herself and the thread just grew and grew from there. The concept is simple, instead of setting weekly goals or monthly goals, you set daily goals. Typically 3 things that you want to accomplish. They can be fitness related or not. The next day, you come back on, recap the day before stating if you met your goals or not. And then leave 3 more goals for the upcoming day.

This thread is not "cut throat" where you have to come on everyday. Sometimes people will leave their goals for the whole weekend if they know they won't be able to come back on daily. Most times, the goals are pretty much the same. But we set them until they become habits and just part of our daily routines.

Since it is a new month, you can start by telling a little about yourself if you life. If this is your first time on the thread, welcome. And to all the vets, I hope you found it ok!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. just said it best "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."

So Wednesday:
1. drink 100 oz of water.
2. zumba, zumba
3. prepare well balanced meals and log everything.

    After a crazy couple of days I’m taking today fairly easy so today goals are:

    1. Log everything :blushing:
    2. Water, hot if the colds problem
    3. Shred
    4. Otherwise relax and enjoy the day (best goal ever)

  • 11/30 Goals.
    1.) It is 11:00am, I still haven't taken ONE SIP of water! GET ON IT! I did 6 glasses not great, but better than nothing
    2.) Final SHRED level one tonight. -- NO BUT contruction is complete the man is out of my house!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes I will be doing it tonight!
    3.) Stick to my guns with my daughter and do not let it emotionally disturb me! -- I did!!! YAY me
    4.)CLEAN WHEN I GET HOME. Hopefully my kitchen will be done this evening. I say that everyday but seems like something is forever going wrong.......... ugh. --- I cleaned as much as I could............................. not enough, but tonights the night!!!!

    Thank you so much Leela for starting this!!!! I am soooooo glad I found this in the middle of October (I think it was) If not for this thread I wouldn't have started setting daily goals. It's an amazing way to write your goals down plus you are sharing them with others. You don't want to let yourself down or say "no I didn't do this" BUT if that happens-no one criticizes you. Very uplifting place here.

    My name is Jessica/Jess/Jessie. 148 lbs. 5'4" I'm really ok with that now as long as I get more toned and lose inches. I don't really care what the scale says as long as I feel sexy and healthy. I've lost an average of 20lbs.
    2 kids, great supportive hubby and I have been on MFP for 100 days as of today!!! I'd like to welcome anyone else to this thread because it is such a great addition to my MFP experience.

    12/1 goals:
    1.) WATER WATER WATER
    2.)Get up, Final night of Shred level one
    3.) Paint ONE wall in my kitchen so I can at least move my oven and fridge back to where it is supposed to be and try to organize a little.
    4.) Try not to stress out or get "fired up" when my boss wants to have our "talk" today............ ugh.

    Hi everyone,
    I'm new to this thread, but I am excited to start as this is just what I need right now.

    I have been on MFP since March /09 and in total I have lost about 17lbs...I would like to lose about 5 more.
    My name is Rhonda, I am recently married ( july 3rd) to a very supportive husband and I have a son who is 9years old.

    I have had my struggles with my weight loss, it's been an up and down exerperience...I dont really have much weight to lose, more toning up, but I'm still not at that happy place with my body.

    I am dying with a cold this week, so my goals will be somewhat different than usual, I have been resting and not exercising the past couple of days, waiting until I feel better.

    So in saying this Dec. 1st GOALS:

    1. Drink 10 glasses of water
    2. To stay within my calorie goals set by MFP
    3. To keep my food choices healthy

    I'm sorry I've been MIA for the past like week and a half. Don't have an excuse. I was just being lazy. Hopefully I can stop doing that. Ok so ... goals for today.

    1. Water! At least 4 glasses. Kind of low but .. I haven't been drinking it at all so it's a start.
    2. Bang out the rough draft for my paper due Friday.
    3. No mindless eating. ( I did a lot of that over Thanksgiving break)

    Afternoon all!

    Leela thanks for starting up the December thread.

    For all the newbies - welcome! I love this thread so much as it helps me stay accountable. Hope you all enjoy it too and stick with it!

    I set today's goals on last month's board but a little recap...
    1. Exercise of some description.
    2. Healthy lunch choices.
    3. Get into work early to get as much done as possible before my appointments start for the day.

    2 and 3 are done but hoping to get in some exercise tonight. Going to see what gym classes are on but may end up doing shred at home. It is seriously freezing today so not sure I will want to venture out to the gym later. I'll report back later today or tomorrow morning.

I've been a member of MFP since this summer and have finally found me a group of people that help keep me on track right here in this thread! :happy: This is a great thread and very supportive group. Nothing but positive feed back on here and no pressure to actually get it all done cause we don't hold it against you when you have a bad day:smile:

    Morning Everyone,

    Welcome to the new people, its a great thread, really keeps me going.

    Quick bit about me. I'm Kim, I used be quite active and got very used to eating what ever I wanted then got a sedentary job and have been piling on the pounds ever since. My parents are both big so I'm trying hard as I can to sort bad habits before I get there :noway: . I'm loving all the exercise but still find it really tough to eat sensibly, so MFP is working wonders at keeping my diet line (mostly).

    Goals for Thursday:

    1. Shred and at least another 30 mins of something
    2. Stay under calorie allowance
    3. Water :grumble:
    4. Laundry - I'm wearing so many clothes at once because of the snow I'm going through them like crazy

    I would love to join this group too if I may! I have hit my weight loss goal, so my goals have become harder to stick with because there is no pay out. I think writing them down like this will help keep me on track :).

    A little about me: I am a mom of 5 kids, ages 11 all the way down to 15 months. 2 boys, 3 girls. I am a SAHM right now. We have 4 cats and a dog. I'm a college grad with a degree in the arts field, and I am very creative and crafty, so I constantly have my hands in about 50 different things. I'm coming up on my one year anniversary on MFP and have not missed a day of logging in since I have joined :) Oh, and my name is Jessica :)

    Goals for today:

    1. brace myself for tomorrow's post Thanksgiving weigh in. Cover the floor with pillows in case I faint on the scale.
    2. Drink at least 12 glasses of water
    3. Watch my sodium. Under 1500 mg today.
    4. SWEAT and really push it with my workout today!

    Got the important ones done yesterday. Its a little late in the day and I already have completed some of the goals I had for today but I'm gonna post them anyways:)

    1. Grocery shopping DONE
    2. Day 2 in challenge DONE
    3. Attack that kitchen and get it done tonight!!

    Need to set my goals for tomorrow because I do SO much better when I do!

    Dec 3:
    1) Drink water! (Always on the list for me. Otherwise I don't drink it!)
    2) Get my errands done. (Should have done them today but have been very lazy.)
    3) Stay with in my calories--and do that with HEALTHY choices, not JUNK!

    Dec 1 was a good day, but today as been rather crappy. Just in a funk and need to get out of it!

    3. finish laundry
    4. get Christmas decorations out.

    5. Find a way to get to work. Think some one down the road has a couple of husky type dogs... ...maybe they could lend them to me.....:wink:

  • Its funny everyone seems to have a hard time with the water - it is my nemesis so here are mine (you;ve inspired me)

    Drink more water - at least 100 oz
    Run at least 4 miles
    No late night snacking

    and most of all have a great Christmas day with the kids - Santa, Tress shopping, holiday party...
  • Ok I'm back. MIA yesterday, but eh well. Going to the DR today to have a blood draw to see why I'm so tired. Hopefully she will suggest a multivit and be done with it.

    Goals for 12/3:
    1.) water
    2.) Make good choices-don't eat french fries just to prove to coworkers that I'm not starving myself (did this yesterday and that was DUMB)
    3.) Go Home and Clean, screw being tired I have things to do!!!! I really need to get things in order so I can decorate for christmas. Hubby is working 7 days a week so he won't be of much help.

    So happy that today is Friday and the weekend can begin!!

    Lots of cleaning and decorating to do this weekend, but I"m actually looking forward to it...no shopping for me, got to wait until next week after I get paid! But I'm happy to not have to hit the stores..just too many people for me!

    My goals for today have been:

    3. get up am and do workout-DONE! Did Turbo Fire 30

    4. get Christmas decorations out. NOT YET, I MAY WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW NOW BECAUSE I'M NOT PUTTING THEM UP TODAY.

    Don't know why but for some reason everytime I started on the kitchen yesterday something happened that made it so that I wasn't able to do so. ugh!!!!

    Not posting any goals for today because its too late for them for me and I've just had a bad day. Remind me again why I thought it was a good idea to buy cookies??? Its all I've eaten today...... Damn oreos but the craving was there and will have to kick myself in the but to notbuy them again!! Good thing I have an extra kid here tonight and possibly 3 extra kids tomorrow night. I can let them have them and get them out of my house quicker!
    Tonight I'm going to watch them light the tree down town and see Santa with the kids. I'll enjoy some of the hot chocolate they are serving but will limit it to just one or two cups. Must do that!!!

    Gonna post goals for the weekend since I'll be busy running around with kids all weekend.

    3. Teach oldest kid(teenager) to play my fav card game while she's here tomorrow night.
    4. Enjoy the time with the kids:) Taking them for a friend so she and her hubby can have some alone time that they rarely ever get.

    7. put new paddles and scrapper on snowblower since the snow is in the forecast almost every day for the next week. I really hate the lake effect snow....No predicting what is actually going to come down on us...:(

  • just a quick note to let you all know I completed all of my goals yesterday, and I felt really proud of myself.

    Today my goals are to:
    1) walk my dogs in the underground parking (it's way too freezing outside for them)
    2) complete my Slim in Six Start it up DVD
    3) do 20 mins on my exersize bike!

    Saturday and Sunday are pretty much the same.
    1. water, water, water
    2. abs
    3. keep track of everything I eat.
    4. take Saturday off, workout for atleast 30 minutes at home Sunday.

    1. I actually kept track of what I ate and kept below my goal, just barely.
    2. Instead of studying, actually, I decided to take a nap. I know this isn't fitness related, but I'm a very stressed college student.
    3. I drank at least 10 cups of water, I lost track. But if I did not reach 100, I was very close.

    1. Log everything! Stay well below calorie goal for the day and avoid Saturday boredom snacking.
    2. Drink nothing but water. No juices whatsoever. And 1 glass of milk, AT MOST.
    3. Go for a walk.
    4. Find videos online of workouts I can actually physically do despite not being flexible at all.

  • 1. Under calorie goal FAIL
    2. Three portions of fruit & three veg FAIL

    4. Water FAIL
    5. Find a way to get to work. FAIL - Though did manage to do a fair bit from home
    6. Laundry. FAIL

    This is it, this right here is my turning point. I can't keep coming on here and writing fail. :angry: Wednesday is weigh in day and I will be 1 lb lighter then I am now. This is me Saturday, take a good look, coz I'm coming for you.

    Saturdays goals:
    1. Shred and try out 30 mins of something new.
    2. Test the car out in the snow, see if things have improved today
    3. 3 portions of fruit and 3 of veg
    4. 100 oz of water
    5. Housework
    6. Have fun but don't go crazy tonight.

    That's the attitude Kim! YOU CAN DO THIS!

    I've not been on here as much as usual the last few days. Have had such a hectic time and to top it off my lovely mum broke her elbow yesterday so it was a looooong wait in a&e. She sent me home last night so got my training in this morning. I'm going over there for a few days to help out but just found out I can get into the nearby gym for free since it's part of the same club I am a member of. They have zumba on tomorrow morning so going to give it a try thanks to Lee's inspiring workouts!!

    Goals for the weekend...
    1. Healthy eating - just because everyone else is comfort eating doesn't mean I have to join in.
    2. Training today (done) and Zumba and Body Combat tomorrow.
    3. Water - I always slack off when I'm at my mum's.
    4. Look after mum and try and cheer her up. Feeling sooo bad for her that she is in so much pain. I must be strong for her.
    5. Do some healthy cooking for everyone.

    I hope you don't mind me sharing this with you all...

    After my weigh in today I am now officially in the HEALTHY BMI range!!! Only just but it still counts!! Mum has been such a big supporter of me and so encouraging so hope this cheers her up!

    2.be under calories goal (by <2400 remaining and 1300 eaten)
    3.drink 1.5l water
    4. Getting at least over 7g fiber :(
    5.stationary cycle 180mins
    6.pepsi (max) less than once a week
  • Met all of my goals yesterday :) yay! Today, my goals are:

    1) Drink 8 glasses of water
    2) Stay within my calorie range
    3) Get some exersize (bowling if I go, otherwise Slim in Six Start it up)
