    Dec 25;

    1. Water--lots of it!--No.
    2. Portion control.--Should have been better.
    3. Have fun.--Yes
    (4. Try to get a walk in.)--Yes

Well, I had a nice day yesterday. I did great on portion control until later last night when I started eating cookies! I also could have had more water but I guess it wasn't too bad.
All-in-all, it could have been a lot worse and the good thing is--today is a new day and I am back on track.
My daughter gave me one of those single-serve blender things (like the Magic Bullet). I am going to try some smoothies this week.

    Goals for Dec 26:

    1. Drink lots of water.
    2. Portion control and healthy choices.
    3. Exercise.
  • Hi!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with lots of lovely presents, stress free family and guilt free goodies.

The lingering flu I have has gone to my chest and I’ve been told that I must not exercise for a month, not even yoga :brokenheart: . I suspect my doctor is playing it very safe on this one. I was freaking out about it earlier imagining that I would immediately pile back on the 12lbs I’ve lost and then some. I’m now trying to look at it as a chance to focus more on eating well, getting rid of any bad eating habits that all the exercise allowed to linger.

    Monday’s Goals:

    1. Make food diary public:noway:
    2. Log everything
    3. Plan meals for the week
    4. Stay under calorie goal
    5. Laundry

Hope you all have a lovely day. See you soon.

    frub, hope yo're feeling better!

    Here are my Monday's goals:
    1. make sure I come back on to recap my goals and to set my next ones. I have been slacking on this some.

    3. drink 64 ounces of water before 2pm.
    4. cook something healthy for lunch and dinner.
    5. avoid chocolate at all costs! :)
  • Can I join in?

I'm an old MFP'er but with so many changes in my life since the last time I was here I deleted my old account and wanted to start fresh for the New Year. My goal for today was to find a forum and couldn't find anything better than MFP and this looks like my kind of group. I like the daily log in and sharing/encouraging threads over the specific challenge type threads.

My goals for the next couple of days are to formulate my plan of attack.

Water will be number one. I have got to back on track with water drinking.

Then I have to re-figure how to cook healthy meals again (We've been eating lots of "heavy" meals lately) and start my menu planning. It doesn't take me long to get back in the swing of things. I just need to sit down and make it happen.

Then, it's exercise. My preferred exercise is swimming but I can only do it during the warmer months. So, I'll dig out some DVD's, check out some channels on the TV to see what I like and DVR them if necessary.

Weighing and measuring will come on Saturday so I can have a fresh start and let everything else fall in to place in the days to come.

    Tomorrow's goal:
    Water, water, water
Start cleaning up the Christmas Clutter
    Start a Menu

Looking forward to meeting you all if you'll have me! :flowerforyou:
  •  :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: I LOVE AND HAVE MISSED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I want to thank you for sticking by me, caring about me, and kicking me in the *kitten* when needed. I am back and excited as hell to be here. I got a wii and a wii fit for Christmas. I set everything up yesterday and I am going to start training on it tonight. I can't WAIT!!. It told me I was overweight!!! can WAIT until it says normal!!!!

I really can't thank you all enough. If I could HUG you I would and not let go for like 15 minutes!!!! MUAH xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

    12/27/2010 Goals
1.) WATER WATER WATER. I haven't been drinking water at all since my absence!!! I feel GROSS
    2.) VEGGIES today Major VEGGIES!!!!
3.)WII fit when I get home!!! No matter if hubby is watching or not. I married him-hell he can watch me work out. Don't know why I have this phobia.
4.) Become addicted to my HRM again!!!

At some point I really want to start the 30 day shred again. It was working wonders on my body and I just QUIT. Imma do it. Imma get it soon.

    Goals for Dec 26:

    1. Drink lots of water.--no
    2. Portion control and healthy choices.--no
    3. Exercise.--just a little.

Yesterday was NOT a good day! No real reason, either--just some depression going on, I guess. I really, really miss my youngest daughter (she moved to Texas this past summer) and I do believe that is a large part of my feelings of depression. I feel a bit better today and am NOT going to let my feelings control me!

    Goals for today--Dec. 27:

    1 WATER!
    2. Healthy choices and portion control.
    3. Exercise (already did 45 minutes of cardio plus 20 minutes of Hatha yoga).
    4. Positive thoughts!

I plan on starting Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown in January--at least, I am going to try it. I do have some minor physical limitations but I can usually adapt workouts. I hope this is one I can adapt, if necessary.

    Morning all!

Hope you all had a great Christmas and looking forward to the start of the New Year. Can't believe it's only a few days away!

Kim hope you're feeling better. Flu is so totally going around everywhere at the moment. There was a stomach bug going around as well last week and I must have picked it up because I didn't feel right on Christmas Day and then Boxing Day was a total write off. Feeling better now so hoping I can make it to a class later to finally get my body moving!

Jess WELCOME BACK!!!!! We missed you!!

Jess and Meanness I gave up on doing shred everyday and just do it every now and again BUT if you're starting on 3 Jan I may join you!

Happiness how was your Christmas with your family? Do they live far from DC? Hope you didn't get too affected by the snow.

Leela well done on getting your 6 miles in! Does that mean you completed your December miles challenge??

Fitbot I totally rate you going to hot yoga. I've done it before and it is sooooo tough!

Pmjsmom I know my mum was really sad when I went away to uni. Just try and think that she is having a great time learning how to cope on her own and that she will always come back home. When you start to get a bit down try to distract yourself with doing something productive. Maybe take a walk or start up a new hobby?

Veggie welcome!! Glad you joined us! I need tyo start cooking super 'healthy' meals again rather than relying on the supermarkets to provide my balanced meals that get put in the microwave. That is definitely something i need to work on in the new year.

So my goals for today are:
    1. Get loads of water in. I did well on xmas day but have been terrible since.
    2. Go food shopping. I'm back at my flat so no tempting treats around which is a relief. Must shop for healthy food!
    3. Try and make it to Body Combat later but if I'm really tired at least go to the gym and do some light exercise.
    4. Clean my flat.
    5. Laundry.
    6. Paperwork. I'm off work today so need to make the most of the time and put papers away that have just collected on the table.

This may sound terrible but I can't wait for the new year to start so I can get back into some sort of normal routine and life return to calm!! The holidays are always fun but it is playing havoc with my new 'lifestyle' change!!

I bet everyone did better than they think they did with making choices in and around the holidays. Have a think and share one if you would like.....

Mine is that I ate far fewer chocolates than I would normally have done and definitely drank a lot more water on xmas day itself than I ever have before.

Gosh another long post from me! Can you tell I'm procrastinating?!! Have a great day!

4.) Become addicted to my HRM again!!! -THIS WILL BE A CONSTANT.

    12/28/2010 GOALS:

    Goals for today--Dec. 27:

    1 WATER!--Good
    2. Healthy choices and portion control.--Did pretty well until the evening!
    3. Exercise (already did 45 minutes of cardio plus 20 minutes of Hatha yoga).--This was it--grandson was not feeling well so we cuddled.
    4. Positive thoughts!--Mostly good.

Looks like a number of us need to go shopping for healthier food choices! We only have the last of the pie and some chocolate chips still in the house. I plan on tossing the pie in a bit and the chocolate chips are for a few recipes so they should be safe!

Nam--I want the new year to start, too, so I can get back to my regular routine. It is really surprising how quickly the old temptations start calling my name!
You are so right, though--I did not eat nearly the amount I would have in the past! That is a plus!

Jess--I wish I would remember how eating 'nasty' makes me feel! I always seem to forget that part of it!

I love this thread--it really helps me to remember the good habits I am trying to form. Thanks, everyone!

    Goals for Dec. 28:
    1. Water--a lot of it!
    2. Exercise for at least 60 minutes.
    3. Choices! and portions!
    4. No snacking in the evening today.
    5. I also need to go grocery shopping today!
    6. Positive thoughts.

Hello everyone! It's been quite the busy holiday.

Leela- not sure when you changed your profile pic so I'm sorry if this is super late but you look great!!!

    Welcome back Jess!

And welcome to the couple of newbies I've missed welcoming.

Today I really need to focus on water. I've really been doing awful with it. So ... for today and the next couple of days if I don't make it on my main goal is WATER!!!

Nicole- thanks! I'm not much of a picture person, but I'll get there.
Nam- I did complete all my miles plus a few to spare. Which is great because I missed the mark for October and November. Just signed up for a January miles challenge. It really helps me stay accountable.

I notice there are so many challenges starting up for the new year. Out of all of them, of course I like this one the most. I wonder if we are going to get some newcomers for January. I am actually quite happy with the group that we have now, but I guess the more the merrier. I like how laid back this thread is so you can come and go as you please. Our lives can get hectic at times and we are all understanding of that. You can leave for days or weeks and when you come back, we still welcome you with open arms. Some peole come on once and never come back. That's okay too because we have a lot of people loyal to making their daily goals and I appreciate all you.
Okay, sorry for getting all mushy!
    Tuesday's goals:
    1. go to ultimate conditioning class + 30 minutes of cardio. YES AND YES
    2. abs and push ups. NO, I'M SO SORE, BUT WE DID PLENTY OF ARMS AND ABS IN CLASS
    3. water- 64 oz by 4pm YES, I MAY GET TO 100 OZ BY THE END OF THE NIGHT.
    4. finish up laundry. ONLY HAVE TO DO MY DAUGHTER'S SCHOOL UNIFORMS, NO RUSH FOR THAT SINCE SHE'S STILL ON BREAK.
    5. clean up kitchen. YES, A BIGGER TASK THAN I ANTICIPATED, BUT ITS DONE.

    Wednesday's goals:
    1. zumba plus 30 minutes of cardio.
    2. if I don't go to the evening zumba class, do zumba fitness on wii.
    3. drink 64 oz of wter by 4pm, limit to 1 can of diet soda.
    4. stay away from junk food.
    5. get rid of all left overs before cooking something new.

Happy Hump day, I'll check in tomorrow!

    2. Go to the grocery store to buy healthy food – Yes

    5. House work. - Yes

    Hi Everyone,

Feeling really good about the start of the new year, I think its going to be an interesting one.

I’m back in the office today and I can already feel the healthy routine coming back to me. I’m still a low energy girl so I’m focusing more on my food these days. I changed my food diary to track sugar and salt recently and have been shocked by what I saw. Often on days I’ve been under on calories I’ve been way over on sugar.

    Wednesday Goals:
    1. Water
    2. Walk (Yesterday I walked to the shops 15 mins away. On the way back I had to sit on a bench next to a bemused pensioner while I got my breath back. I think she thought that I was really lazy! Tut tut! Youth of today! Actually, not sure I still count as youth of today.)
    3. Under on calories and sugar
    4. Draw
    5. Housework

Hope you're all having a great day. See you later.

Kathy - I have a magic bullet to! It's awesome! I've only used it for my morning protein shakes, but I love that you can make it all in the cup and take it with you. I hope you make some awesome smoothies :o)

Nam - Christmas was really good! My mom came up from South Carolina and spent it with me. I live in Virginia about 20 minutes from DC. We didn't get too much snow. Maybe 2 inches. It was great. I was done with the snow. At one point it looked like dippin dots were falling from the sky which I found pretty funny. How did you all get on? I heard there was a lot of snow in the UK.

    Welcome to the group Veggie!

Yay Jess! Glad to have you back! You were missed! :o)

    12/29/10 Goals:
    1) WATER
    2) If I go home after work - Clean the bathroom

    Goals for Dec. 28:
    1. Water--a lot of it!--REALLY good!
    2. Exercise for at least 60 minutes.--Done
    3. Choices! and portions!--Good
    4. No snacking in the evening today--Had a small snack but not bad.
    5. I also need to go grocery shopping today!--Done. WOW, produce went up AGAIN!
    6. Positive thoughts.--Well, except for some <negative> thoughts while trying to stretch my food budget, I did well.

I did get a great deal on a good-sized turkey breast in the meat section. It was half off from a sale price so I got the whole thing for $2.00! It should make at least 2 meals for us.
But--red, yellow and orange bell peppers are 3 dollars EACH! Didn't buy any--I will try to get to our local discount grocery store and see what they have first. (I guess I will need to get even more creative at fixing healthy meals at this rate!)

Steph--I've been making smoothies for my breakfast and also using it for chopping up veggies, etc. for casseroles and soups (my DD doesn't like to find pieces of onion, celery or pepper in her food!). I've been using it quite a lot so far.

    Goals for Dec. 29:
    1. Water!
    2. Portions and choices.
    3. Exercise for 60 minutes.
    4. Straighten up my room (can't find ANYTHING right now!)
