I went to bed at 7:30 last night, got up and peed at 10:30 and then got up at 4:00 again and decided that I couldn't wait any longer.

I had two tests - one Equate one and a Dollar tree test. The Dollar tree kind is a cassette type when you use a syringe and put 4 drops of urine on it. You have to collect in a cup first. I started in the cup and then peed 10 seconds on the Equate test. (I know, I know TMI!!!!!) I checked the clock it was 4:14 am. The equate did nothing in the first minute so impatient me went ahead and put urine on the Dollar Tree one. At 4:16 the Equate one had the same faint plus sign as yesterday and in the 10 minutes the Dollar Tree had nothing. So a positive and a negative. I had dh check also but this time I made him check in the 10 minute window.

I really don't know what to think as I am so afraid of gettng my hopes up. I will re-test Monday with a third brand of test. I do have pregnancy symptoms but I also know my mental part of my body could probably convince my physical part of pregnancy.

Ron - how are you and your dh holding up? How is his uncle doing?

Jalara - Hope your day get less crazy!

AnneElise - it is good to see you over here too! Glad luck at your appt.

    KCurtis - Enjoy your trip!

Heather - did you break down and test again? Any updates?

Pam - thanks for the heads up about reading in the 10 minutes. I sincerely hope that this is your month!

Anybody I missed, I am sorry! Hope everybody has a wonderful day!

From some of my favorite obsessive TTCers on pregnancy test sensitivity:

Not all pregnancy tests are created equal. They each have a different sensitivity of hCG that they need to detect in order to turn positive. It is highly recommend that you STAY AWAY from BLUE DYE tests as they are known for false positives, evap lines and have even given men positive results. All tests should be discarded after 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the results can no longer be considered accurate so if you don't see a line until 10 minutes after you have taken the test you should retest.

First Response Early Result: detects 6.5 mlU of hCG
    Early-Pregnancy-Tests.com: detects 10 mIU/ml hCG
    First Response Gold Digital 18mIU
    CVS Test: 25 mIU/ml hCG
    Clear Blue Digital: 25 mIU
    Accuclear Pregnancy Test 25 mIU
    Answer Pregnancy Test 25 mIU
CVS Early Result Pregnancy Test 25 mIU
    Dollar Store/Tree (mini-strip, cassette, & midstream) 25 mIU
    E.P.T. Digital Test 25 mIU
Equate (Wal-mart) 25 mIU (they are starting to go blue dye but there are some pink dye left on the shelves so check the packaging)
Right Aid Pregnancy Test 25 mIU
Target Brand Pregnancy Test 25 mIU (Target makes blue dye too so be careful)
    Walgreen Digital 25 mIU
    Target Stores: 50 mIUs hCG

It looks like the tests you used both have the same sensitivity, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they do as it can change from test to test. I would go get a FRER Gold Digital and test with that.

Erice - I can't believe I didn't mention you in my above post I think about all the time and consider you an expert. Thanks for the information. It could be because you have to pee on the stick for 10 seconds where as the other takes four drops. I have no idea. The equate I used are both pink dye. I may have to drive into town today after all. Hmmmmmm!

    Wow! Busy busy busy here!

Ron – My thoughts are with you and your family!

Kcurtis – Enjoy Hawaii! Don’t worry about what it is you’re eating before you go, just make sure to be conscious about portion control so that you don’t get that bloatty feeling! That’s what usually makes us feel fat not our actual size.

Heather – Wow you are strong! I drive myself nuts every time AF is due imagining symptoms, how you managed to stay sane while getting conflicting information makes me think you are superwoman! I hope you can stay strong, and try going to a clinic nearby to at least get a doctors opinion (even if it isn’t your doctor).
My mother had been trying for over a year before she got pregnant with me and had false negatives even from the doctor. Sometimes the best thing to do is to try to relax and be patient (but I really understand how hard that is).

Amanda – Fingers and toes crossed for you! Keep us updated!

Pam – Sorry to hear TOM is being mean to you! Hope things regulate themselves!

Erica – I’m so happy to see you back here! You really are a fountain of knowledge!

As for me, I’m officially in cycle 15! I’d love to say that I won’t think about TTC constantly and just wait for my appointment on Jan 14th to see what going on but that won’t happen I’m sure! As of this month I have 3 friends that are starting to TTC, and I’m convinced that all 3 will be pregnant before me!

Kcurtis, have a fantastically wonderful time in Hawaii!!!!!! I am so so so jealous! I wanted to elope to Hawaii, but my husband didn't think he would survive that long flight, so we settled for San Diego.

abeare, it really is impossible to not think about TTC when you've been doing it for more than, oh say, five months. I don't believe those women who said they tried and tried for long periods of time and then just stopped thinking about it and got pregnant. I highly doubt they ever stopped thinking about it for more than a day at a time. I hope you get some good information at your appointment. I need to schedule one of those soon, but I keep putting it off.

I was doing well on exercise and food until yesterday when I got hit with my "two days before O" migraine. It makes me nauseous and then ravenous, plus I had to throw a Coke in there to get rid of it. And then I didn't work out in order to "save my strength." But one day isn't the end of the world. I'm hoping to find time to exercise AND clean my disaster of a house this weekend.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

    Wow! Busy!
Thanks for all the travel wishes! I'm actually on the plane right now! Super cool with wifi  This is our late honeymoon (just over a year late) but better late than never I guess!! We have a layover in Minnneapolis then straight onto Honolulu. :glasses: Thank goodness DH is a techy and put some movies on my iPad. The flight there is just over 8 hours. :ohwell:
I hope everyone gets some answers soon! With all this testing talk I thought about it and I am on CD 34 and should prolly test just to make sure... DH and I gave up the idea of raincoats after the first time, so I guess it could be possible eventhough I doubt I Oed this month. Then of course i peed on a stick this morning and it was a dud stick. Not even a control line. Oh well, guess it's a sign not to worry about it. but also the second stick is in my purse just if I get curious. LOL the things we do to ourselves LOL
I weighed in today just to see where I was and to mark where I am before the cruise and....139.4! .4 from goal!!! I like to look of that! Oops landing in Minneapolis TTFN!!

KCurtis- I hope you have the most amazing time in Hawaii! I've always wanted to go and have just never had the opportunity. Enjoy yourself!

Abeare- Trust me...I am by NO means superwoman. I am sitting in this hotel room holding down the couch driving myself (and my poor husband) nuts! All I want to do is run out and buy all the tests at every store and pee on them all until they tell me what I wanna know! lol!

Ron- Hope you are having a better day.

Amanda- I feel your pain! Why everyone else around me (ok...so I haven't told anyone but my husband, my oldest bf, and my newest bf so that makes 4 of us besides you guys lol) thinks I'm nuts for needing and wanting to know NOW is beyond me. My husband is a pilot and I tried to break it down like this "Lets say you took your test to get your pilots license and this is the difference between being able to fly or not and you went online to check the results and it said you had passed and you got all excited, and then you went back online to print it out and it said you had failed...and so on and so forth. Wouldn't that drive you insane?!" He simply comes back and says "I'd never go back to print it out. They'd have it on file at my work...." BAH! Men! So trust me...I know how conflicting information can drive a girl nuts!

Erica- You really are an encyclopedia of great information! But as a fellow long time TTC....sometimes when you know so much it makes it even harder when everyone around you is getting pregnant and you've got all the answers to get pregnant and yet you aren't.

For years I was told by the doctors I had "unexplained infertility"...that was never good enough for me. I don't believe in this day and age with all of the technology we have that anything in the world of healthcare is "unexplained". So I continued to search myself for the answers. I diagnosed myself with PCOS and later was confirmed with another doc years later that I infact do have PCOS. I became pregnant for the first and only time in my life this past September and lost the baby by October. Even now that it is a possibility that I am, it seems so unreal because I'm petrified of miscarrying again AND I know that if I am it goes against all the information that I know to be true (ie. I don't ovulate on my own, women ovulate typically between day 10 and day 20 of their cycle, after 14 dpo a positive on a hpt usually occurs if you are infact pregnant....).

And no I haven't given in and peed on any sticks today! lol! It really was making things worse and not better. Evidently if I am it is still so early that the hcg isn't being picked up by tests. My husband wanted me to wait until Tuesday (random day for some reason) and we compromised and I said Monday. So Monday it is. I will try and find that First Response Early detection digital that you talked about Erica. Do you know who is likely to carry it? Until then...hope everyone has a wonderful Friday! (Oh and on a side note, hubby brought home chocolate cake last night. Trying not to be 200lbs heavier after having baby so I'm going to stop this sugar thing before it gets outta control!)

    So very and painfully true!
Erica. Do you know who is likely to carry it?

Ha! Here is the limit of my knowledge. I don't buy HPTs, so I just don't know. I would say Walmart or Target or Walgreens or that other chain pharmacy store I refuse to list by name because my husband works for Walgreens.

Hi ladies. I am trying to lose weight to increase my odds at getting pregnant, too. I conceived naturally 4 yrs ago, but the baby was born still. She was full term and beautiful. I spent the next two years desperately trying to conceive again and went through infertility treatments. Finally it worked, this baby turned out healthy and I had her in 2008. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get pregnant for a second child. I sought out infertility help again, but only did this for two cycles. The doctor questioned me as to why I was trying to do this, I have several risk factors. I really feel though that if I was thin or average size, it wouldn't have been an issue. I am trying to conceive on my own for the time being and if I can get the weight off, maybe I will go back. I can definitely use any support from you all. Thanks for listening.

Erica - I'm so with you on the not stopping the thoughts.....The only time I wasn't temping or talking CM, CP or pregnancy tests was when we attempted 3 adoptions. I had my focus on other methods for trying to become a mommy.....but really anytime I thought that I might be ovulating my hubbie got dragged home to "dance"....LOL Everyone likes to offer advice like, stop trying and it'll happen, lose the weight and it'll happen. The truth is with our medical history, DH and I were not likely to have conceived naturally under any circumstances....I know you haven't officially gotten a diagnosis on issue and I have a friend where their official diagnosis is unexplained infertility. She ovulates, he has lots of swimmers, they time it right, eat well and nothing....it's a frustrating thing....

Heather & Amanda - the fact is that knowing sooner isn't going to make you anymore pregnant if you are. Treat yourself as if you were until you get that absolutely positive - my hubbie likes to call it the "blood test". Either way, there is bleeding, just in one case a doctor and a needle are involved....Book your appts and get the doctor's opinion. I know their tests are much more sensitive, but at least you would have an "expert" opinion.

I also couldn't wait so I took another test this morning and it was positive too!! Yeah!

Thursday - positive on Equate after 8 minutes in the morning, negative on Dollar Tree in the afternoon
Friday - positive on Equate after 6 minutes in the morning, negative on Dollar Tree in the morning, negative on EPT in the afternoon
Saturday - positive on Equate in the 3 minutes
Sunday - positve on EPT in the morning and Equate

I really thought all the Equate tests were evap lines and I was going to give up except I have felt off all week-end.

I will be calling my doc tomorrow for bloodwork.

Editted to add: My EPT was a blue dye - can you believe all this hicktown has in blue dye and no digital. I am still believing it because it pop up in the time frame and the Equate back it up. Hope I don't have my hopes up for nothing!

Heather - when are you estimating your due date to be. I have no idea how to date this pregnancy!

Well...this morning I used a first response early detection test on the fmu and it was negative. Equate has been known to pick up as little as 12mcg of hcg even though it is a cheapie that is even less than the expensive brands. And I'm actually thinking I'm earlier than I originally thought, hence the reason for the faint lines and negative tests. I know without a doubt I am but I've got NO CLUE as to when it happened. I just assumed that since I didn't see my hubby until Day 22 on thanksgiving that it MUST be the day, but that was just an assumption. At this point in the game I'm thinking it could have been several times that week (we hadn't seen each other in a while :blushing: lol!) So I really am thinking it was later than I originally thought. Guess we'll have to get an ultrasound to tell!

  • Big congrats Heather and Amanda! I'm so very excited for you!!! Major sticky vibes sending your way! Be well!

AFM: I broke down and bought a Jenny Renny Pregnancy Prediction. Maybe it's cheesy, but I thought it would be fun. Here's what she said:

"Your reading reveals that your BFP news comes the month of November from a cycle that begins in October 2011. (1 attempt is shown before that but fails). The baby shows as a girl and her EDD/birth date is referenced the month of July 2012 - specific reference to the 9th and 17th. (Donor shows both times as a Wand - so he's either a Sagittarius, Leo or Aries - light brown hair, fair features and well travelled.)"

    Heehee!

Been busy this weekend trying to prepare for a party I'm hosting on Thursday. I can't believe there's less than 2 weeks until Christmas! I've been good with my eating and weight loss and really want to start some weight training and regular yoga, but just haven't made the time (always something else that needs to be done!). I've indulged in a couple of chocolates but other than that, been pretty good with my calories. No fast food and no chips! (that's usually what I cave in for on the weekends!) I hope to be down another pound by Wednesday.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

    Weigh In Stats
    FFF SW = 268.6
    Week 14 Weight = 241.2 (-2.4 lbs)
    Week 15 Weight = 240.7 (-0.5 lbs)
    Week 16 Weight = 239.9 (-0.8 lbs)
    Week 17 Weight = 240.1 (+0.2 lbs)
    Week 18 Weight = 237.0 (-3.1 lbs)
    Week 19 Weight = 237.9 (+0.9 lbs)
    Week 20 Weight = 236.6 (-1.3 lbs)
    Week 21 Weight = 238.5 (+1.9 lbs)
    Week 22 Weight = 239.6 (+1.1 lbs)

Booooo..... I'm hoping this is either hormonal or water weight. Either way, I'm not sure what's going on. LOL I actually was very good about my calories in the second half of the week. I had a cookie exchange on the weekend and we came home and everything went right into the freezer for trays later on. The only thing I ate/drank at the party was a single cup of tea and half a pickle....We ate home all but one day (when I had lunch but then went to the mall for a shopping trip with a few friends so it wasn't like I sat and did nothing all day). I was really hoping it would stay the same or start to drop again but Noooooooooooo.......LOL My second AF of the cycle was a short and light one - it was just a little heavier than spotting really, even though I used something against it (TMI - I'm usually a flooder so better safe than sorry), I'm tempted to call it Pam's version of spotting. Lasted 3 days.

So happy to hear that there are not one but TWO BFPs!!!!!! That's awesome guys. I supposed I can uncross my fingers, toes and legs now. Hope that you both have sticky ones!!! How was everyone else's weekend?

    Happy Monday/Weigh in day!

    Bettany – Welcome!

Erica – It’s nice to be reassured that I’m not some crazy obsessive person because TTC is always somewhere on the back of my mind if not in full thought. The only time that I truly stop thinking about it is while AF is here.

Heather – Congratulations! That’s great! Now lay down on that couch and TRY (easier said than done I know!) to relax.

Amanda – Congratulations! Wow #4! I wish my Thanksgiving was that good for me!

So weigh in this morning was actually good for me! I didn’t think it would be because my weekend was pretty awful, DH and I ate out almost every meal this weekend and I didn’t get to go to the gym. I guess all my hard work for the past while has granted me a little slip up without consequence, but I’ll be sure that this upcoming week is good anyway. So I went from 151.6 to 150.2 lbs! I cant wait to see the scale start with 149 next week!

Good morning ladies. I’m up 3 freaking pounds this week. :grumble: :explode: That’s what a week of hospital food, take out and no exercise will do. I’m also a stress eater and I think I ate more chocolate this week than I have all year. I’m hoping some of the gain is sodium but I’m not too sure. DH’s uncle is still in ICU. The doctors have tried unsuccessfully to wean him off the ventilator several times, if they can’t they’re going to do a tracheotomy. The only good thing is that he’s now heavily sedated.

On the TTC front: I’m officially in the 2WW. I highly doubt I’m pregnant. We hardly had any time to be alone, but it’s always in the back of my mind. And I got to see my nephew last week…..he’s perfect and beautiful and it just made me want a baby even more.

    Congratulations Heather and Amanda!!!!

    Welcome Bettany!

    Hey all,

    Congrats on the BFP girls!

So, news on my end - I'm leaving my job at the end of the month. My contract is up and I'm not accepting another one - I'm going to work casual at a nursing home until we have a little one, and just continue with school. At first I was really nervouse about it, but I'm starting to like the idea. It's be nice to be able to focus on my, and my goal and our home for awhile, instead of trying to juggle 2 jobs, school marriage and TTC.
The funny thing is - my boss hasn't clued in yet that there's no one tofill the position... so I have to have a talk with her today about training my replacement. That'll be fun....

TTC - I'm in the prime of BDing time - having fun with it too! I'm expecting a + O test tomorrow... so we shall see! My temps are super low this month, which is odd for me, but I'm hoping it'll mean that the temp shift after O will be more prominant. This is Cycle 3 for me.

Goals: Last week I met most of them, except I only came in under calories twice, instead of the 3 times I was aiming for, which is still better than the last few months.
Goals this week: Come in under calories 3 times, workout 4 times, eat breakfast every day.

OK, ya'll can really stop peeing on things now! Congrats to both of you.

I haven't the foggiest what's going on with me right now. I thought I was going to O on Friday or Saturday, but instead of getting an upward temp shift, my temps plummeted with the weather. We went from 50s to teens, so I imagine that has something to do with it. But now I have no idea if I've just not Od or what. My monitor has been very unhelpful. I thought I had a peak on Saturday, but the monitor is saying no. I guess we'll see when AF arrives--anytime from Christmas to a couple of days before New Year's Eve. :noway:

As for exercise, I didn't manage to do any this weekend and I had a total meltdown on Friday after finding out a friend of a friend is already pregnant and they started trying 6 or 7 months after we started. That mood was not conducive to working out. I think I'm going to just stick with walking on the elliptical and not exert myself for the next two weeks. Maybe that will make a difference? Uh huh... sure.
