  • Hello All,
Finally got AF about 9 days late this month. How irritating. Made for an extra special Christmas present this year. I got really off track between 2-week PMS, holiday fun, family fun, birthday and Christmas the past few weeks. On that note, I finally dusted off my running shoes and have been hitting the treadmill this week. My aunt got me the new digital scale that I asked for, which was nice. I finally busted it out this morning to less than stellar results. So, I updated everything here with my new (higher) starting weight and adjusted my goals. I'm glad that I started using MFP about a month ago, I'm totally ready to use it to it's maximum potential for the new year. It definately helped me to not go completely out of control over the holidays and gain back everything I've lost. Which I have definately done in past holiday seasons.

I hope everyone has a great New Year and I look forward to hearing about all of our successes in 2011!

Ashley - I'm not sure that it has that capability. I have to say that there are some things that I post on here that I don't want shared either......but I am relying that people won't be able to find all my posts....LOL My mother in law was asking about this site too while they were here.....does she really want to know that I caved on chocolate this week?? LOL I put together a summary email that I send out with the information tha people care about to those I want to know....A coworker that I'm close to asked for it too and I told her that she'd learn more than she ever wanted. Most people in my life know we've been trying FOREVER so I don't have the same concerns.

Jalara - great approach to the new year!!! Get in the zone. I know it's all mental....since i lost my mental motivation, I've plateaued....BLAH....LOL

Erica - understand. We watched the nieces & nephews open their gifts on boxing day and felt it just a little...I think I've actually psyched myself out for next Chrimstas already - thinking we'll have a little one FOR SURE by Christmas 2011, but I don't know that to be the case :(

    AndreaMichelle - Welcome

SkinnyOat - I too have gained back weight - I think the holidays set me back about 5 lbs overall, which is not terrible, but not great either :(

Welcome to the newbies and those who have come back! We're a little slow right now with the holidays. :flowerforyou:

Tried using my Christmas gifts from my hubbie today.....Wii Biggest Loser Challenge....phew. I did the test to start and was surprised to find out that I was considered moderate. Not surprised to find out though that I need overall weight loss.....LOL Well Duh......the test was pretty difficult though....Need to get on and do that actual work out for today. The 6 minute test gave me 51 calories burned though so that's like 510 calories an hour....no wonder it was tough....

On to my workout. Also going to aquafit tonight!! WOO HOO!!

Did the workout...Not bad.....my lungs felt like they were on fire but I stuck it out. 106 calories for 18 minutes of workout. Not going to aquafit this week....it's just me being lazy.:ohwell:

Did my HPT today and it came up invalid.....LOL you'd think after taking a million of them I'd know what I was doing. But 5 seconds only is tough to do when you're still asleep....I think it was too much that caused the result. Oh well, that's why I buy packs of 2 :) Just want to be careful around New Years and champagne (we don't go crazy, but want to be careful).:drinker:

Hubbie's surgeon called this morning and bumped his follow up back 2 weeks so I had to call fertility clinic back 2 weeks. Think he's going to go for his post-surgical SA on the 10th (which should give the results enough time to get to the doctor's). I don't think the results will be as good as the surgeon thinks (~50% of normal), but I'm sure we'll be over the fertile baseline (20M). :flowerforyou:

I'm still eating all the crap from the holidays....except that which has been hidden (which I found)....So hoping not to gain anymore before the end of the year....LOL:wink:

Pam - I got the Wii Biggest Loser too! I won't be using it until next week, but I look forward to it!

Also - update - I did end up leaving my job. Tomorrow is my last day and I feel great about it. I have a million things planned for January, started with a week of sleep and vacation.
  • Jalara: love the pic! Congrats on making the tough job decision and enjoy your January and your new life!

Pam: love your new pic too! You've come a long way baby! I'm envious of your wii fit. It's something I'm thinking of splurging on but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to spending the money on something frivolous for myself. Still... thinking about it. :)

Erica: your month will come! I'm sure of it! Hope things look up quickly for you and your dh - you deserve some happy news!

AFM: Had my colonoscopy yesterday and it was deemed "normal"! Woo hoo! I'm at a high risk of colon cancer so I'm happy they didn't find anything. My body is totally screwed up though. The fasting and prepping for this procedure is awful. (sorry tmi) you have to be completely empty of everything in your system so you can just imagine! Silver lining is that the scale said 161 yesterday morning (which I logged here just for fun!). Today I'm back up to 164 but AF showed up which usually bloats me and makes me gain a few so really, who knows what my true weight is? I can't digest food properly yet either so I have no clue what my true weight might be. I've logged in at 164 anyway. I'm still down from my 172 SW so I'll take it either way!

Happy New Year everyone! :drinker: I'm laying low since I'm not feeling up for a party. Don't mind that at all... and after being away from work for 5 days, I'm happy to have another 3 off!

Hello ladies! Hope everyone has had a good Christmas. I loved spending time with family and friends but am very much looking forward to having life return to normal. We just returned from 3 days at a Bed & Breakfast at a town all about wineries. So basically we ate and drank and ate and drank some more. We went with my parents (our Christmas present to them) and had a good time. I also had an appointment with a specialist about the recurrent miscarriages. He took 15 tubes of blood and is running a million tests. With pcos I already knew my chances of miscarriage were high but he seems to think that with a change of diet (even more so than I already do) and an increase in such things as folic acid and omega 3s that my chances will decrease.

With that being said, I'm excited what 2011 has to offer. I'm ready to get back into my workout routine (which the doctor also said he would not restrict me from unless I cramp or bleed) and eat healthy. I feel bogged down by the horrible eating and the lack of exercise. I'm ready to feel good and accomplish goals.

This year my New Years resolution is to be kind to myself and treat my body with love and respect by keeping it active and feeding it foods to fuel it, not to destroy it.

What are your New Years Resolutions?

Jalara - Yay!! We can do it together :) My hubbie didn't even make it past challenging and he does P90 so from a workout scale, it's pretty awesome!! Glad you are happy with your decision! That's the way it should be.

Jenny - Thanks!! I would think it's somewhere between 161 and 164 (somewhere between empty and bloated..LOL)....162.5 sounds right in the middle. Glad the tests worked out well for you.

Heather - Sounds like a great mini-vacation....glad you came back upbeat about 2011 :) I'm curious to find out more about what they have to say about PCOS and preventing miscarriages, so keep us updated. I love your new years resolution. I haven't quite finished formulating mine, but it's going to be very specific when it comes to my weight and TTC this coming year.

My goal is to try and lose 1-2 lbs a week consistently until I get pregnant and then maintain a healthy pregnancy weight. I will eat healthfully (making sure to get 2 fruit and 3 veggies every day) and exercise at least 30 minutes 3x a week. My future family deserves the best me they can get and it's my resolution to give it to them; body, mind and soul.

I weighed in a 154.5 this morning, meaning I did not meet my end of the year goal. I didn't gain since last weigh in and I am really close so I'm not going to beat myself up about it. My new goal is that by the end of January I will get rid of there last 4.5 pounds!!!

I hope everyone has a great NYE and I pray that 2011 brings BFP's for all of us!!!!!!

Ron...be kind to yourself. You've come so far. Celebrate in all you have accomplished and don't get beat yourself up about what you haven't. Sometimes we make goals and life gets in the way. You've done awesome. Today is a new day and another chance to make one step in the right direction.

    Happy New Year!

Ron - grab 50 lbs of butter and put it on your table.....it's such an accomplishment that 4.5 lbs seems like a minor challenge. If we lost consistently to goal, it wouldn't make us think twice about putting it back on. This next challenge will be the defining factor that helps keep it off....Happy New Year!!!

Hi! Well I had some catching up to do so here it goes...

Jalara~ Have fun with your free time! Glad to hear that you are happy and positive for 2011. Take advantage of the time you will have.

    Andrea~Welcome to the group!!

SkinnyOat~ Darn AF! You have a great start, get into a great routine and watch MFP and the magic work.

Pam~ Biggest Loser sounds great! I am waiting to see if I get Wii Zumba for Christmas (yes, I have one more Christmas with my dad's side of the family tomorrow). If not, I think I might consider getting Biggest Loser. I hope the docs find that DH's surgery was a success and will make some great results in the near future for you two!

Jenny~ Glad your results came back normal! But I'm sorry to hear your body is all out of whack. I guess it is a short-term headache to make sure everything is ok tho!

Heather~ Your Resolution sounds great! Glad you had a good time on a well deserved mini-vaca.

Ron~ You had an amazing year! Great job! I'm hoping for BFP for all as well!

AFM~ I am down to 141.0, 2 lbs from goal! Close enough for me. I saw goal once, just couldn't get back to it with the holidays and 2 AFs. Eating has been really good! I got DH the Crockpot Cookbook and we are starting to try different things. We love our crockpot:happy:
Grrr!!!!! Our renter is 1 (almost 2 ) months behind in rent and we are starting the eviction process. Yes, she just signed the contract Nov. 20. Ugh, I guess it is good to learn all the ins and outs early... Just not the way I wanted to start the new year! :explode:
I haven't really thought about a resolution... I'll have to think about it. TTFN

Happy Holidays everyone! Last night was my last "Holiday" party with my husband's family. I pretty much lost control once I spied the buckeyes--chocolate peanut butter sugar yumminess. Major weakness. But we are staying in for New Year's, so I'm considering last night my "celebration of 2010", and I'll eat yummy homemade veggie soup tonight to even it out (a little.)

Weight Loss Goal for the new year- lose another 5-10 lbs--and keep it off. The keep it off part will be the challenge, I think. Operationally, I want to exercise at least 4 times a week, drink at least 6 glasses of water a day, and remember my multivitamins.

Life goal--keep working towards a baby, and keep my thoughts positive (get rid of the negative self-talk) and realistic--get this Clomid underway in a few weeks, and see what happens. We are not looking to do further treatments if Clomid doesn't work, so one way or another, so close to the middle of next year we should have an idea as to whether or not we will probably be having another child by ourselves. As disappointing as the answer may be at that time, I'm hopeful if that's the case, I'll be able to grieve that, feel like we gave it a good shot, and can start putting my emotional energy towards looking if/how we want to increase our family size in other ways.

Good luck to everyone. Watch out for those buckeyes...they are lurking out there, ready to pounce. ;-)

Just wanted to do a quick pop in before the New Year!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions on my dilemma, I still haven’t decided on how I’m going to handle it.

Heather – I LOVE your resolution and am adopting it myself! It’s about time we treat ourselves with the love and respect we would anyone else we loved!

Oh and on a completely different note, what are buckeye chocolates? Is this a U.S. thing?

Happy New Years to everyone! I hope 2011 will bring happy healthy babies for us all! Oh and an easy time loosing the baby weight too

Pam that's an awesome visual! 50lbs of butter would pile up HUGE on a kitchen table! Even to see my 8 would be an eyeopener!

KCurtis- sorry about your tenant troubles! You finally get the place all done and rented and you wind up with a deadbeat! Not fair! Well, in my life I've learned that everything happens when it's supposed to... maybe you needed the deadbeat for a couple of months because the PERFECT tenant wasn't ready yet. Good luck with it all and I hope you get it all turned around ok really soon! xo

Happy New Year! I'm laying low. Got my jams and movies all ready to go. Might even have champagne (undecided still on how my guts will take that!!)

Well my new years was gluttonous....LOL No other way of putting it...there was very little healthy food....VERY little (actually NO protein to speak of) and quite a bit of junk. We watched the movies (of course with popcorn, pop and candy) then came home and 3 of us polished of a bag of chips and then my Mom put the Christmas cookies right next to me (in fairness, there really wasn't anywhere else to put them).

Somehow, I've ended up with a new bag of chocolates.....ARGGGGGGG So I still have 8 bags of chocolate plus 2 tins of Almond Roca. I was hoping to have it all gone for today, but no luck. I'm hoping that by inviting people over today, I'll have some of it gone not in my mouth and then I just have to put the rest of it out of my mind because I'm not going to do it. I can't...I'm starting this year off right!! Changing my weigh in day to Wed, if everyone doesn't mind. Biggest Loser is going to do my weigh in for me (I started on Thurs so it's automatically on Wed). I'm still going to keep track daily because otherwise my weigh in day is my binge day for the week and that's just not cool...I need to keep myself accountable everyday for what happens on the scale.

My new years resolutions included 9-12 glasses of water, taking my Metformin when i'm supposed to, exercising 3x for 30 minutes PLUS walking the dogs (I don't want to count that as exercise in my resolution, but will in my MFP) and having my 5-7 fruits and veggies per day!!! Oh and logging in here and logging all my food daily!!! What are yours?
  • Is the January thread up yet? Can't find it! Or am I looking for something that isn't there? :)
