I live on a working farm in Michigan, hay farmer with large organic-methods garden and Arabian horses. My city is economically stable with a fine arts/cultural flavor and a low crime rate. I love the area and I love living in the country. The downside is winters in Michigan.... I hate cold weather.

I live in King's Lynn, Norfolk.

King John lost the Crown Jewels in the river here in 1216.

    The landscape is very flat.

Stephen Fry lives down the road.

I live in the mountains of Maine. God's country. It took some time for this city girl to adjust but after 17 years I would not change it for anything. Thank you God for showing me everyday your handy work and beauty!

Dayton also has a wonderful art museum and was the home of the Wright Brothers.

Isn't it funny how we see and appreciate what we want to? :-/

I live in Portland, Maine, the land of rude tourists, eccentric foodies, f'd up seasons, and a bastion of hipsters that could rival the other Portland.

Joplin, Missouri - a third of it was annihilated by an EF-5 tornado three years ago, but it's still kicking :-) I love that it is a small city but feels much larger in so many ways...for being in the Bible belt we have such a nice mix of liberals and conservatives that keeps things much more balanced, it's the central hub for lots of smaller towns and rural communities, and it is conveniently on the way to other places. It is located centrally enough for easy day trips to several major cities (KC, St. Louis, Tulsa, etc) and less than an hour away from Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas. Best of all, the cost of living is crazy low.

Saugatuck Michigan. We're a tourist town, called the "Art Coast of Michigan" and have beautiful summers on Lake Michigan. 600 feet above my little town on top of a dune there is a WWII Radar still in tact, that was donated to the city by a local business owner.
    Best things about it:
Summers are hopping with bars on every corner and live music everywhere, every weekend
Winters are quiet as the population dwindles down to about 1500 and I can walk into my favorite bars and the drinks are already made without having to ask.
    Worst thing about it:
Lake effect snowfall in winter. Nuff said.

Waukesha, Wisconsin. Birthplace of Les Paul and home to natural springs that watered the entire Columbian Exhibition (aka Chicago Worlds Fair) in 1893 via 100 miles of pipe and viaduct. We are 30 minutes west of Milwaukee.

Wisconsin is so much more than beer and cheese. We have more lakes than Minnesota, 13,500 miles of coastline plus 200 miles of Mississippi River shoreline, more official state hiking trails than most, wonderful rivers (including white water) for canoeing, kayaking, and rafting. Great cities. The greater Milwaukee area is considered one of the most ethnically diverse metro regions in the country and we celebrate that with ethic festivals all summer long (Highland Games this weekend, then finish with Indian Summer next weekend). We get cold, snowy winters and hot humid summers and our autumn is so beautiful it makes up for any other unpleasantness.

We produce more ginseng than any other state and more cranberries, We are #4 in maple syrup production and #3 in potato production. Then there is our cheese. We invented colby (personally don't care for it) but have incredible cheeses of all types. We keep the best in state, like our best beer, and let the rest of the country have the middle of the road stuff.

Come visit us, just stay out of the Dells if you want to really see Wisconsin's beauty.

Oh, and then there is the Packers, who have won more NFL championships than any other team (13) and are the only team to three-peat the championship, which we have done twice.

I live in Silver Spring, MD. I really like it here, because I'm about 15 minutes from Downtown DC, 45 minutes from Baltimore or Annapolis, and just a couple hours from the mountains one way and the beach the other way. We have big cities and working farms right down the road from each other. We have all 4 seasons...sometimes all in one day. Lots of history, lots of good food, lots of stuff to do with the kids, and a busy night life.
