Less soda and more water...really enjoying infused water. I don't even miss the pop. Taking baby steps instead of an extreme diet is the best approach for sure. Way more realistic and easy to stick to. That's how you build healthy habits so good job!
I also find I am naturally drawn to healthy food choices when I'm working out routinely. I don't crave junk food nearly as much - my body doesn't crave junk food the way it does when I get lazy.0 -
Excuses and Laziness in regard to eating healthier more often and being active
I can't really say I cut anything out because I still have some bad eating (and drinking) habits. However, I try to keep them to a minimum.

Breads. It makes me bloat. I can eat flat breads.
I try and stay away from processed foods.
And lots of water.0 -
Start by logging what you eat, not by depriving yourself. Once you have a better idea of your patterns, you'll see where you want to make changes.

What item did you give up that made the biggest impact on jump starting your weight loss?

I cut out meat and most animal products. When eating a mainly plant based diet I find it REALLY difficult to eat my allotted daily calories and I am rarely hungry. I've never been a huge meat eater but removing it from my diet has really helped with my health goals and reducing my fatigue through out the day.0

Instead of just cutting back on my food intake I actually started counting my calories. Omg the amount of calories in half the stuff I thought was decent to eat -lol .
Also, not drinking anything besides no sugar added juices and water. Unbelievable how much that has helped me.0 -
Most alcohol because it led to me eating more things.
Replaced ice cream with frozen fruit bars.
I started measuring my portions of snack foods instead of mindlessly eating them from the bag or box and guessing at the number of servings I had.0 -
French fries. I always get garden salad or cole slaw instead of French fries when I eat out. It has made a world of difference.0

Milk in my coffee. Never liked sweet coffee, but I used to make a french press of dark roast, then turn that into three cups of cafe au lait by warming up at least a cup of whole milk. I thought I'd never like black coffee, but I realized how many calories all that milk was seven days a week. I missed it at first, then I didn't, and now, I can honestly say I'd rather drink black coffee than creamy coffee. It's like a miracle. People's tastes really can change.0

What item did you give up that was fairly easy to do and made the biggest impact on jump starting your weight loss?
Getting started, I'm starting small, baby steps, as I feel I can stick to a diet easier if I do it one step at a time. I thought this question might give me ideas on what I can give up and not feel like I lost something or that I'm doing an extreme diet. Where can I make a small cut for a big difference.

Processed foods, pop, all fast food, and the biggest one for me is SUGAR..I was the biggest sugar addict I can't believe I don't have diabetes and I'm sure my body is still going through shock! I don't use any butter or added salt on my foods either. Lucky for me I love the taste of whole foods without dressing them up a whole lot and love most foods so I have plenty of options. But really going back to basics and buying more fresh foods, and planning meals is the ticket0

I like the perspective of "adding in" rather than "cutting out" - at least in the beginning. Add in more water, fruit and veggies and somehow junky stuff seems to cut itself out as the good "add ins" increase. I still have a ways to go myself, but this mindset works for me0

Replacing diet coke with WATER has made a huge difference in my life!
Ive also stopped the "little" nibbling on snacks during the day. It all adds up. I make my "meals" more purposeful so that I am in control of whatever it is i choose to eat. Be MINDFUL of your food!0 -

"healthy" fads and hype that claim you need to increase your protein, eat massive amounts of vegetables, consume bizarre grains, count and "balance" your macros, cook with only certain oils, cut out ALL sugar, etc.
Once I allowed myself to eat and enjoy the foods that I found most psychologically satisfying.....the sky was the limit! I eat pasta, wings, chili, macaroni salad, ribs...even corn dogs and hot pockets if that's what I really REALLY want. Just count those calories, stay within the limits, learn to accept hunger, and pay attention to your mood and energy level as feedback0
