This thread is moving along and don't feel you have to address each one individually each time! I know each of you is hear to listen to me and support me, even if you don't personally respond to me. A quick check in and Hi is just as good :flowerforyou:

All I can say is we can all do this, yes it is hard, yes it is a life-long committment, yes it is a life style change, yes it sucks sometimes. Once you find the right mind set for yourself and that one thing that truly clicks and motivates you it gets a little easier. I just have to keep repeating to myself "this is a life style change and not a diet" and "eat to live, don't live to eat". I have come to the realization that I am always going to struggle with food choices and exercise, I am going to have to monitor for the rest of my life and keep a good eye on my choices. Once you have been over-sized and endulgent it does not go away...it is so easy to slide back into old habits and so hard to reverse them.

With good resources and the support of MFP and others in our lifes, we can make this change, just don't give up :)

Have a Terrific Thrusday and I'll see ya all tonight (((hugs)))

Ohhhhh Shelly thanks so much for this post.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: I so needed to read it today. Long story but hopefully I will get a chance to post today, but it is doubtful. It has been a madhouse at work this week and month end is coming up too. I will probably read it again when I get to work.....:-) Because it is so true we have to realize this is forever. Bad habits are hard to break and good habits are hard to keep up.

I hope you get the job too!! Knock their socks off. I love phone interviews.

:flowerforyou: Hello Everyone! Have a wonderful day! Hugs!!:heart:

OK, I have always had "bat wings" but now they are disgusting. With all my weight losses and weight gains, up, down, up, down, I guess my skin has rebelled! Seriously, is anyone else considering plastic surgery when they've reached their goal? I refuse to have loose hanging skin forever.....

While I am no fan of surgery - really paranoid about going "under" - my partner has said every time that I mention excess skin and how I will look like a deflated balloon by the time I reach my goal even with exercise, that we can have it surgically removed. There are some areas where clothing can help out a lot - waist/midsection even boobs - but there is not a lot one can do by way of camouflage for the arms  At this point, I just try to make sure that all my short sleeved shirts come all the way to the elbow and then am self-conscious about raising my arms in such as way as to let the sleeve ride up. Sleeveless tanks - forgeddaboutit for me.

    Wednesday Weigh-In/Exercise

I'm still gaining/losing the same pound. I started the calories cycling this last weekend & I hope to see some results by the next weigh in Wednesday.

Today my son & I went to Pinnacle Mountain with my sister-in-law & nephew. We hiked for almost 2 hours. It wasn't hard core hiking but it was fun! I burned over 750 calories according to my heart rate monitor.

Hey Christy, yay for you with all that hiking! What a great burn plus a fun activity to do with your son!!! I am anxious to see how the calorie cycling works for you. I feel a plateau coming on myself and am thinking of giving it a go.

I have considered it and went for an evaluation but way too expensive for me. My parents agreed to help me but I don't think I want to pay the money and I really need it for my thighs and butt areas before I would consider my arms. I have made peace with my body image and will move forward with the hanging flab.

Congrats Mollie!!! It is a very big step to accept oneself they way she is and find value in oneself as-is! You continue to inspire me with your winning attitude!!! I hope to be there with self-acceptance one day myself but I fear it is a long way away.

BTW, I am totally in for the challenge. Feel free to track me!!! No weight loss for this past week (at least as of yesterday), so my start weight will be 350 :ohwell:

Hello everyone....well I lost .9 this week. I wish it was better, but hey, its something right? Ive been playing with my calories a bit...going from 1 1/2 pounds a week to 2 pounds a week, so see what works. Its hard...because I feel I wont lose as well on 1 1/2 pounds a week...but when I go with 2 pounds a week...that leaves me very hungry in the evening. the calorie difference is about 300. Good news...I walked today....1 mile. It was beautiful here! I dont walk far, but I go. I will be increasing this distance in April. I will be doubling my time/distance. Have a great evening everyone!:flowerforyou:

Jackie, congrats on the awesome loss!!! And the walking. I know how you feel with the calorie thing. I am at 1700 right now which, according to MFP, should result in a 2.5# loss each week. Then, I try to burn between 500 and 600 calories per day through exercise and if I eat them, it is no more than 1/2. Yet somehow, I am not averaging that 2.5# loss, so I wonder if I am eating too much, too little or something in between. Thinking of trying calorie cycling next week if no loss again this week just to shake it up a bit.

I am amazed at how much stuff (or another word that begins with "s") we have!!! Deep in my heart, I know we don't NEED most of it.

After six hours, with only two short breaks, our garage is halfway done. This is not just tidying and sweeping up. This is going through boxes and bins that haven't been opened since we moved two years ago. Now that we are more or less settled in here, it's time to get better organised and let go of some of the material things we've hung on to.

I'm skeptical of the number of calories MFP says I've burned (1200) but I am pretty worn out. Time for a shower, followed by a cup of tea and a relaxing afternoon.

    Cheers,
    katz

I might consider it after I get to my goal if the hanging skin is too bad, but to tell you the truth I am scared to have surgery. I have never had surgery except for having my tonsils out in the 4th grade. And except for then only been in the hospital to have my babies.

I won't have it done for the opposite reason, I've had too many surgeries to ever want another one again!

    Good morning/afternoon!

Well my "official" weight in stayed the same at 1.5 down so I'm a happy camper. It's so hard to lose weight when 4 of your meds cause weight gain and peri-menopause doesn't help either. 15# down from January 3 is incredible to me and I'm so happy that I found MFP and this group. You are all extraordinary women and a world of help and motivation.

I haven't worked out in a week, so I'm afraid that the 1.5 is muscle, not fat. So when I'm back in the saddle again if I gain or maintain, I'm not going to beat myself up, in fact I'm expecting that to happen. Not that I'm being a pessimist, but a realist.

To everyone who has beautiful weather it's 24 degrees here right now!!!!!!!! :grumble: ARGH, the robins are asking why they bothered to come north and the flowers are wondering why the bothered to wake up

@ Christy - yesterday's hike sounds wonderful! I hope you do get to the flower beds today, it's such a wonderful and relaxing way to spend some time (and calories)

@ Jackie - .9 is a good thing!!!!!!! Great walk, too, jealous of your beautiful weather. So glad you had no back pain today :flowerforyou:

@ Charmaine - No, it's not stupid, you have to do what works for you. We're here for you whenever you need it.

@ L - What Cassie said! Mother's do come first, and don't beat yourself up about the crackers, you'll get back to the gym and kick those calories to the curb!

@ Cassie - Way to go on those 3#s!!!!!!! And no you're not the only one who has a problem keeping up. I have 2 tabs open to this thread, the one I'm reading while typing up my responses.

    @ Joanna - don't work too hard!

@ Amy - congrats on the weight loss and have fun "closet" shopping!!!!!

@ Cathy - "Mostly though, I love that I truly believe I can change the way I think about food (given some time). I have a long way to go but for the first time I think it is possible and can be a lifestyle change." That is so wonderfully put!!!!!!!!!

@ Shelly - darn, your clothes are too big *NOT*, have fun shopping for new clothes, you deserve it! Good luck with the job interview. *soapbox* - we made a lifestyle choice when we started over-eating and under-exercising, we're now reversing the way we lived. *end soapbox*

@ Katz - You will probably feel every one of those 1200 calories burned tomorrow! We've been putting off cleaning our garage for about 5 years now. Not looking forward to doing it this spring, but it needs to be done!

Thursday Triumph - I guess today's triumph is that I did not allow the lack of progress on the scale this week keep me from doing all the things I need to in order to continue my journey to a healthier life. In fact, I drank more water yesterday and ate fewer calories than I have in the past few weeks. Hopefully it will show on the scale next week but if not, I am still improving my health which means I am achieving my ultimate goal

Cathy, congratulations on losing out of your clothes!!! That is a super NSV! I hope to be there soon. When I started my journey in November, all of my clothes were so snug - in fact my pants were so tight in the waist that I had to unbutton and unzip them a bit when I sat down at my desk or else end up with "dig in" marks that were very red and painful. I am happy to report that I have to pull them up when I walk down the hall now and I can pull them up and down without unbuttoning or unzipping them, but still not quite out of them. Plus, my older pants are a couple sizes smaller, so I need to keep wearing these a while longer until the older ones fit again. Still, I absolutely understand what you mean about being more confident and moving easier. I still have a long way to go, but I can definitely feel the difference of those lost 45# in the way I can go up and down the hall without getting winded. We are doing it!!!

Shelly, good luck with the phone interview. Sounds like a great opportunity!!! I know you will blow them away! And thanks for the reminder that this is a lifestyle change forever and not a short-term quick fix. Always good to have that reinforced!

Jackie, congrats on no longer having the back pain!

Sue, great job on losing 1.5#s. Hopefully you will get the energy back to hit the exercise soon!

L, you are doing fantastic in your journey! A few crackers will not derail you and I bet you burn it up at the gym today! :flowerforyou: Sorry to hear no improvement with your friend's condition.

Linda, you are doing great! A tiny 1/2# gain is nothing, especially with having been off with your son on break all week. No worries - you got this! :flowerforyou:

Cassie, congrats again on the 3# loss. Bet you are loving that new scale!

Joanna, hope you have a wonderful day back at work. Yuck to having to work on Saturday :frown:

Amy, 1.2# lost? Congrats on your triumph!!!

Katz, you are blowing me away with your cleaning efforts. Awesome!!! :flowerforyou:

Sara, glad you are feeling better dear! :flowerforyou:

Mollie, thanks for keeping track of our progress! You totally rock! And best of luck with the dr. appt! :flowerforyou:

Jolene, are you still visiting with the new grandson? how is your canine baby doing? :flowerforyou:

Hugs and loser vibes to all!!! Catch you later!

Thanks L for excellent instructions!! We are on for the weight loss chart peeps!! I just wanted to give you guys a preview. I thought this was the hardest part but it is not. Now I have to figure up my formulas but even if I don't for the few who will be on the chart I am ready to go without formulas.

I just got so excited! I love learning new techie things, can you tell?

I have Charmaine and Karen not interested. I thought there was another person but not sure. I forgot to delete Charmaine but you are deleted already Charmaine so don't worry dear.

If you do not want to be on chart please email me so I can remove your name by next Tuesday week for the 1st weigh in.

BTW - L, I think you are right, I don't have the software at home. I have it at work. But now that I did it at work I will see if I can repeat at home tonight or over the weekend. I may see if I can do this again because I fumbled through it this 1st time.

mollie- i will pass on the weight chart thing...for some reason i do not like people to know the actual number of my weight...makes no sense to me...but i still hope to lose 8 pounds in april

Karen.....I don't think our actual current weight will be shown on this list. I have the same thought as you regarding this thing. And the amount you want to lose (your goal) is posted on your ticker. I'll give it a try & see how it goes. B-)

Cassie, Karen is correct. Our actual weights will be shown.

    Morning everyone!
It's a chilly morning here in California. It started to rain just in time for my commute home last night, so it took me over an hour and a half to get home. Luckily I stoped drinking water around 3:30 so I didn't have an accident!

My Thursday Triumph is more of a defeat. All this weight I have is so stubborn! I am completely frustrated with it. After 1 week of calorie cycling I lost 2lbs. the following week I was up 0.2. I didn't log it as I figured it was water due to TOM, and I figured I'd lose it. But this week I'm up another 0.2!!! That's almost a half pound! I'm seriously VERY VERY dissapointed.

    I am sooooo sorry Claudia:flowerforyou:

I was a sceptic on the calorie cycling stuff but said it is working for somebody and it does not hurt to try anything for 3 to 4 weeks.

Have you considered just lowering your calories or mixing up exercise? Are you at a stall? Sorry if you stated already because I have not read all posts. A half a pound up is not a pound up. I do not even count .4 as a gain. If you had my scale you would be the same weight.....:-) I am not sure that makes you feel better but it is not that bad. So cheer up babe. :drinker:

Have you tried lowering your calories and increasing intensity of exercises also to lose weight. Think about shows like Heavy and the Biggest loser. They are doing from 1200 to 1800 calories and exercise mainiacs. I am not saying to be an exercise maniac but it does help and lowering calories help also. I sooo do not believe in starvation mode stuff promoted here. If you are not going below 800 to 1000 net calories you will not starve. That is my 2 cents Claudia and keep up the good work!:flowerforyou: :drinker: (((HUGS)))

Here's a quick run down: I started here 6 months ago at 1200 cals/day. I lost 18lbs in THREE months. Ever since then losing has been difficult. Either only 0.2 loss, or if I'm lucky 0.8. Sometimes no loss at all. I was completely frustrated so I tried calorie cycling and lost 2lbs. I was BEYOND happy! I thought upping the cals helped. This week I upped my cals to 1400 and have stayed under. I think I have to go back 1200 IDK. I just want to cry!! I didn't believe in starvation mode either, but I think that is what was happening. I was not eating enough plus not eathing back my exercise cals. I do think I need to increase my exercise intensity, as it has become more difficult to get my HR up. Thanks for your help Mollie!

What about if you put the lost lbs per week in the columns rather than what the weight is?

I would prefer this and it gives a greater sense of achievement I think (or not...)

So instead of 240lb in first column it might say 1.2lb = in this week (i.e. I lost 1.2lb).

Then we have a total weight loss figure for April, not displaying to the world the actual weight we are.

    What do people think?

THURSDAY TRIUMPHS: My triumph today is that I have gotten off my butt this past 3 (three) days and gone for a walk. and even though it was a short walk.....I walked. And just to let you know, I'm one of those people who hates exercise and God forbid if I have to sweat. LOL

So....I've invited myself to my son's house for dinner tonight.....mostly so I can go see my GrandBaby Girl. It will be fun tonite. Not sure what's for dinner, so I'm eating real lite today so I can "afford" the dinner calories. AND I have a cake in my kitchen calling my name...today is the third day it's been there. If it's not gone by the time I leave to go to my son's house.....I'm taking that cake to my son. The kids will love it!

Here is the bottom line on starving the body. If you continue to starve it, it has no choice but to drop those pounds. It may take it a week or 2 to do so but once it realizes you are not upping your intake the pounds will start coming off.

And I feel you on HR. It is a drag that the fitter we get the harder we have to work to burn those calories. But it is still healtheir to be fit. Try interval training with a treadmill or bike for 45 to 60 min 3 to 4 days a week. Did I forget Elliptical? Any cardio in the zones going up and down or doing sprints with HR really high will help you see som results. Now remember I am saying this with no idea of what you have been doing thus far. If you are already doing 60 min cardio 4 times a week, let me know.

Just checking in. Have read the posts up to now but no time to go into details.

Thanks to all for reassuring me re the lack of gym and my cracker craziness! lol!

    Back soon!

I am a cracker junkie too L. I can't even have them in my house. I keep them in my trunk and count them out when I am going to eat them with sardines or tuna.
