You all are very quiet Rainbow and Steph. I know Asha is out of town.

I have been reflecting today and I reminded myself more how far I have come already when my motivation is slipping away from me.

Here is a link to a blog I did today: I posted it on another site and decided to share here.
    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Mollie1037/view/so-i-never-forget-how-far-i-have-come-already-and-my-journey-is-not-over-114918

I know so many positive affirmations to tell myself but some days they just don't do it for me. Never the less I muscle thru it. I can not give up. I have to muscle thru it. :indifferent:

Hope you are having a better day and remember -- Success is never giving up! :flowerforyou: Please check in when you all have a moment?

Feeling good today. Blogging helped and I got the encouragement I needed.

I am going to Rain Forest Cafe tomorrow. I already reviewed the menu and know what I am ordering. Sunday is uneventful and should be under 1500 calories NET. I am doing much better on my weekends. What are your plans this weekend?

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

I loved your comparison blog, Mollie! Amazing! Good for you for checking the menu before you go. Sounds like a very nice weekend.

I'll be doing some workouts (Shred), practicing piano (I have yet to start learning), cleaning my room (as usual), and normal stuff. Oh! And we might be going to an outdoor (FREE) music festival, so that should be fun. I love seeing live music.

Thanks Stephanie!! I hope you have a chance to make it to the music festival. We have a lot of those in the Chicago area in the summer time and many of them are free of charge.

Your new picture looks awesome!! You can see that waist line is widdling away baby!!! Keep up the good work!!:flowerforyou:

Thanks Mollie. I did make it to the festival, and it was lots of fun. Free, being the funnest part. We lost my sister at one point, and since our cells are out of service right now, we couldn't find each other for a few hours. There were SO many people!! Definitely one of the bigger ones I've been too.

I got a sunburn, even though I put sunscreen on. I didn't put sunscreen on my arms, cause I wanted to tan, and I didn't get any colour there at all! :grumble: So weird. But at least my legs got some colour! They're so white, cause I rarely wear shorts.

Hope to hear about your weekends soon!

Glad festival was fun Steph!! Saturday I over ate some but not to the extreme for sure and Sunday I was under my 1500 net calories!! So I am getting the terriable weekends under control. TOM is here so I believe that is why I have not lost too much weight this week but as long as I am not gaining I am cool!!

I had an awesome NSV yesterday!! I was able to fit into a new girdle 4 sizes smaller and I wore an outfit that I have not worn in 2 years because it was too tight. The skirt was actually really lose, plenty of breathing space.

Same... But congrats with the calories!! That's fantastic!

YAY! Super awesome! Congrats to you! :drinker:
  • Hey gals, glad to hear you're doing well!

Mollie: Great blog! What a great way to motivate yourself. I admire your perseverance! And congrats on your loss!

Steph: What kind of music festival was it? Sadly, I don't have too many in my area. It's too rural. That's really cool you're learning to play piano!

My vacation was very enjoyable. I was in Hawaii (Maui) visiting a friend. We saw lots of cool things, including seeing the sunrise from the top of a volcano! We walked quite bit, but we also ate a lot. I expect a gain when I weigh in. But, what's imporant is that I had a good time and that I'm back on track from the moment I got home.

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

    Thanks Asha!!

I am glad you had a wonderful vacation and visit with your friend! We missed you and good you are right back on track. Vacations and trips are going to be challenging for sure.

I am going to a family reunion next weekend in Ohio and I have snacks planned to take with. Going to pack a heathy lunch for us. Plan to stick to baked fish and light breakfast. I am going to workout both days. I find this helps with weight gain because I know I will over indulge. I am really going to try to maintain over the weekend this weekend and next weekend. As a matter of fact I have gotten much better on my weekend binges.

    Have a good weekend all!
  • That's a great plan, Mollie! Planning ahead is key. Trips, family visits, vacations, celebrations, etc. are a fun part of life and food is a big part of that. It's great that you can acknowledge that overindulging happens and not deprive yourself during these events. I think it's good that you're looking to maintain during your weekend in Ohio rather than stick with strict calorie restriction. You can still enjoy without worrying too much while still making some healthy choices (i.e. the baked fish and workouts). Way to go!

Asha... Glad you had fun in HAWAII!! One of my friends just came back from there, and loved it too! That would be an amazing vacation!!

It was kind of just an assortment of random local bands, and a few more famous ones (but no one really big). It was just a music festival, with music and rides and food stands, and TONS of people. And a lot of dogs... Really cute little ones, and some big ones.

Mollie... Great news of your weekend improvements!! I like family reunions, but we rarely have them, and really only started having them a few years ago. Unfortunately, even with them, I still haven't much of my family for years. :ohwell: Hope you have a great time!

    Hello all!!

Just quickly checking in. My goal over the weekend is to maintain 341. I plan to workout everyday even though I am out of town. I have packed my own lunch for 6 hour road trip and plan to eat big breakfast and light dinners with fish. I am taking snack packs of carrots, almonds, boiled eggs, etc.

I think we all know it is hard on special occasions to stay on point eating wise. But we can do it!!

    GOOD NEWS!!

Remember I was looking for a therpist last month, well I finally found a good fit. It is a eating disorders program similar to one I was in, in my early 20's!! Now I am ready to make the lifestyle changes and commit to them. In my 20's I was not all the way there but now I am.

I just found out that my insurance covers this awesome eating disorder program I am going to be joining. Well they don't cover it all (group therapy) but I will make a way to afford it for as long as I need it.

I see the intake therapist on Tuesday and once they see me they will make their recommendations. My insurance covers individual sessions which will be cheaper and less time consuming too so I am probably going to go with that 1st since I know that is what I really need. I have groups here and I know what to eat and I am active. And that is what I have been searching for anyways. I could tell from talking to all of these peoples that they can help me with my goals to lose weight and keep it off and with my compulsive over eating. I am pumped and very excited too!!

Have a good and safe weekend peeps!!:flowerforyou: TTYL

Thanks for posting Mollie! I enjoy knowing that I already knew what your goals were from other posts! Great news with the therapist!! That is so great! I commented on your blog, so I won't need to do it again. Happy maintaining weekend!! :drinker: Mmm... Hard boiled eggs!
  • Hey gals, just checking in since it's been a while.

Mollie: That's great news about the program! I hope it does everything to help you. How is your weekend in Ohio going?

Steph: Hope you're hanging in there. I sent you a message, so I'll leave it at that.

My weekend was great. My brother, sister-in-law, and nephew visited us. I got several golf games in. I ate a lot, too, but 4 hrs of golfing burns a ton of calories, so I've maintained. I'm ready to get serious about food again tomorrow, and I'm going to keep up the golf :)

That's cool and kind of intense that you golf. That's fantastic! Thanks again for your message. I'm hanging in. Today is going well. Great on you for maintaining! Keep it up! :drinker:

    Hello everyone!

Well I am happy to report I maintained my 340 weight over the weekend at family reunion. Actually it was not as hard as I thought. With many older family members being sick because of health issues the food was pretty healthy. I had plenty of NSV's and I felt sooooooo good because of what I was able to do.

Friday my knee was cramping because of the long drive but my awesome Mom had a hot water bottle with her, so I used it and I so ready by Saturday. I did the elliptical both days and some dancing on a dinner cruise we went on Saturday night.

Good job on maintain Ahsa! A maintain means you definitely did something right. Have a good week on getting back on being mindful of food choices. Food is 80 percent of it.

    Hello all,

Well the evaluation with the eating disorders clinic went very well yesterday. The only glitch is it is too expensive for me right now. I need to get some bills off my back 1st. The plan is if I am still employed in January is to set up more money in my flexible spending account to cover the $500 out of pocket deductible. I will wait to hear back from people today to see how much they can get the 3 hour group meetings down to. Right now the cost per week with no discount would be $75 which would be about $300 a month. I just can’t afford that right now. That is more than a car note. So I will see what I can swing for January. And she wanted to me to do 2 days a week!! Is she for real?

I will see what their angle is, but right now they have me taking a lot of unnecessary tests when I am just interested in the group and not interested in their optifast program. She could not explain to me why I needed to do a EKG if I am not doing the optifast. I am not letting them know yet that I am not going to do the program until I see how much they are willing to reduce the $75 co pay to and when the nurse calls me back I want to see why a EKG is needed again.

I am going to have to stick to my 2 free support group meetings per month with WLS program and thankfully I have you guys for support too!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!:flowerforyou:

I am still forging ahead with my goals and this is just another bump in the road but I am OK. I did good over weekend with eating and horrible Monday and Tuesday since I am around house, etc. I will be back at work tomorrow and determined to make today a good day. One day at a time!:flowerforyou:

BTW - I am have been on phone this morning working with my health insurance provider to get my eating disorder sessions down to $15 to $20 copay if the program is willing to bill it the way they need the billing to go in. I am praying it will go this way. I will be able to afford this amount per week for sure. I will just have to cut back on some recreational stuff and eating out. It will be worth it if I can get in this comprehensive program!

    Steph_135 Posts: 3,280 Member
Hey Mollie, I know how difficult it can be to afford extra things sometimes. That's too bad, but it will still be there for you later. It is a legitimate thing right? Do they have a track record of success? The price is really steep, so just make sure your money will be well spent when you go, and that you a) get what you want and b) pay only for what you get. Hope the insurance pulls through!

Spending all this time at home is finally getting to me! I need to go for a walk tomorrow just to get away from my siblings, who are now off school... Coincidence? I've had 1 day of good eating out of the past 4. Few workouts... Trying to get it back together for good again still. At least I'm making dinner a healthy one.

    Steph,
It is a wonderful program believe me. They are top notch. I have enjoyed talking to every person I have talked to so far. They are very similar to program I was in when I was your age. That is how I was spoiled too. After having the best I was spoiled. The guy who headed up the facility in the 1990's was world renowned for his work in weight loss with famous athletes. I read his book twice. I let someone use it and it was never returned to me. I know you are reader. The name of the book is Weight loss through persistence: making science work for you by Daniel S. Kirschenbaum.

His most current book is The Wellspring Weight Loss Plan. Anyways, 2 of the people who used to work under him are head of this program.

Today, the said if I go twice a week they should be able to get me approved. It is going to be presented like a type of out patient program for morbibly obese with a food addiction. Which is better for me all the way around. So we are shooting for after labor day so I can get everything in order by then. Meanwhile the lead person is looking for me a therpist to start with just in case I am not approved or just to be my point person thru the whole program.

I have a meeting with the dietian next Thursday and that is an hour session and it is not covered by my insurance. The cost of the one visit is $170!! She said follow ups would be $90. I told her there would be no follow ups! lol! She completely understood. The co-pay for the individual sessions with a therpist is $15. The out patient thing may not have a copay. Not sure but needless say I am in good hands for sure. Regardless if I am doing individual or group or both I am going to get the help I need to make permanent lifestyle changes.

I can't believe just one blog by one of my buddies got me on this road!! As you know I have been looking for a therpist for about 2 months now. Really before than, I just did not feel like doing the shopping for a good therpist. Well I know these folks get it. Hopefully they put me with someone good because I will know if they don't have a clue.

btw - I was good over the weekend but Mon-Wed so off point. today was good food wise but no exercise. I have only exercise once this week and that was Tuesday if you count from Monday to Sunday. So to get in 4 workouts I have to work out everday the rest of the week.......:-) So don't feel bad about being out of touch. You are not the only one babe!

That's great news Mollie! I'm glad you found them! Thanks for sharing the book. I found it at a super good price for the first one online, and will probably order it in Sept. (I just made a super huge payment to my student loan...).

170 for a first visit sounds ok. I paid 185 for the first visit to my natural path, ad over 110 for each additional visit!! :noway: (NOT INCLUDING THE SUPPLEMENTS, which usually came to about $60-80!!!)

I love that a blog got you this far! It's totally meant to be! For a while now, I've been searching for a person with a certain set of skills. I pretty much thought that I would never meet anyone like that, but lo and behold, that person contacted me, and now I have that connection. Things just work like that sometimes.

Over here, I've been using my phone to make sure I take at least 3 hours between meals and snacks, so I'm not boredom eating. It worked for me last time. I set my timer, and forget about food for a while. No working out for the past 2 days, but I wanted to ride my bike last night, I just put it off too long, so I only had time for dinner (which was healthy, yay!).
  • Mollie, I'm glad you've found this program and that they seem flexible with payment options. I really hope you get approved! The connection between your original program and this one is great... hopefully that means this one will help you as well!

    Please keep us updated :)

    Hello Ladies,

Is it hot where you live? We are baking here in Chicago! I have been swamped at work.

I saw the dietican last week and what a total waste of money if I have to pay the whole thing. I think she knows I am not coming back. I guess I am just too knowledgeable on nutrition and I really know how to eat healthy now if they came up with something to MAKE me eat healthy then someone would be a wealthy person indeed! I asked her for a food plan and she said I had to come back for the food plan and that this was just an evaluation!!! I was appauled!!
I told her I would wait to see if insurance pays for the evaluation 1st and if they do I will follow up. What she does not know is if I come back it will be only the one time and that is to get the food plan. I am thinking now that I can probably get that from some of the members of the groups if I am approved for that and get to know them. Between now and September I am getting all evaluations out the way.

Exercise person said I do not need to see him! YAY!! $$$ saved!

I have to see my primary care doctor in order to get EKG that is required set up and she needs to sign consent form, etc. I may wait on EKG to see if I am approved 1st. They are having issues with finding a therpist for individual sessions. The dietican explained this since most of therpists work with groups they are limited to day time ours for individual sessions. I said OK well I know there must be working people in the groups, right? Or does everyone do groups? Either way I was disappointed that it seems their focus is group therphy which I may need approval for. I believe they should be able to get me approved. We will see. I am not going to push any further. I am going to be patient and sit tight and do as much of the prilimanary stuff they are requiring as I can.

My Mom is doing OK. Her next chemo treatment is July 25th. She will be having every other Monday.

I did a little shopping myself 2 weeks ago and I felt FABOULOUS!!! When I went shopping back in January, I was back up to 24/26. This time I was in 20/22''s. I could even fit some 18 tops!

I wore one of the dresses last week and got so many compliments on weight and dress, etc and so you know I was inspired to keep pushing.

A lady at the gym wanted to know how much weight I had lost and I told her only about 44 pounds. She said why are you saying ONLY 44 pounds. I said to myself yeah why are you saying ONLY. I don't care if it has taken me since March of last year to do this. 44 pounds is 44 pounds right? So I am going to stop saying ONLY from now on.:blushing:

Have a wonderful week and let's keep pushing and challenging ourselves! Success is never giving up!:flowerforyou:
  • Hey Gals,

Sorry it's been such a long while since my last update. I've really been struggling with motivation these last couple of weeks. I just eat and eat and eat! Surprisingly I've only gained back 3 lbs, and that's the day after a serious binge so I may not even be up that much. I suppose I have been active this whole time, which is probably my only saving grace. I'm debating whether I should update my weight loss counter with that weight or not. I ingested a lot of sodium during my binge last night, so I'm thinking maybe I should wait a couple of days before weighing in again. Then, whatever that weight is, I'll put that in?

On the plus side, I gave myself a serious look in the mirror yesterday and decided that I really want to do this. Not have to do this, not should do this, but WANT to do this. I owe a huge thank you to Steph who brought this point up!

I have five weeks left until I officially begin medical school--Yikes!--and that's another 10lbs I can lose. It will happen this time, because I really want it. How awesome would it be to be under 200lbs for the start of school? So great :)

I've signed up for a gym membership with a friend, and we've been going almost every day. Today we're even going twice, because we want to try out the zumba class!

    How are you ladies doing?

Sounds like you have a very positive attitude going, Mollie! Good for you! I really hope it all works out :) Shopping for smaller and smaller sizes is such a fantastic feeling! I also want to wish you and your mom all the best with treatment and recovery. It's a terrible thing and I sincerely wish for the best for her, you, and your family.

I am here to cheer you on! I would wait a few days to check in. I never move my ticker back down......:) All of us are different! Have a good day!

    Happy hump day!

    Right there with ya!

Mollie... It was getting up to 120 outside today!!! In CANADA! It might be a record for here. It was crazy hot. I didn't even go outside. Sorry your dietitian meeting went bad. I stopped going to my naturopath because he was ignoring the topics that I wanted him to help me with. I might go back in the future, but not until I feel confident that I can push my needs before what he thinks I need. I hope you get approved for the groups - sounds like you're on the right track, being patient. Whatever happens is meant to be. CONGRATS on the smaller clothes! :drinker: 44 lbs in AMAZING!! Change that "only" dialog to reflect that!

Asha... Do you really just eat and eat? Cause I *REALLY* just eat and eat... As soon as lunch hits, I snack all the way to night time, and I really don't think I take a breath to digest for more than an hour. I think my workouts were probably helping me a lot more when I was doing them, but since stopping and a loss of motivation, everything has fallen to heck. Good for your for keeping active! :drinker: I updated my weight loss counter about an hour ago...  But since I'm not weighing again until end of August, I figure it's OK (motivation). Sodium might be getting the best of me too, since I've been snacking on a LOT of popcorn, but I'm doubtful it's that anymore. --- And you're right! We do WANT to do this!! I need to take that look in the mirror too. Thanks for reminding me. :blushing: :flowerforyou: All the best in reaching that goal! I want to lose 10 lbs before school too! Let us know how you like the Zumba class!!
