Being here in Vegas seeing all these perfect bodies inspires me to look better, but the food inspires me to EAT. At least I have been working out each day. I come back tomorrow night, I have been hungry recently but will do my best to cut calories and carbs. Anyone on a specific diet plan? I am considering another Paleo/Primal run but keep sticking on the rice and occasional sugar

1st day Leangains not so bad. BCAAs taste like crap but it could be worse. lol. Got in strength training. Tomorrow's supposed to be rest day. Keep pushin.

I am totally a leangains person but I relax my windows sometimes and I use bcaa pills. Not good at taking nasty powders

Mamareese - good luck with the leangains! I might try it at some point...

Amy - I agree that the sexy lady workout does not feel as intense as KISS but its also a different kind of work out I think. It's sort of a nice break. We'll see!

Jenomaha - uh, I totally ate whatever I wanted this weekend! But that's okay, even with my pigging out I still (barely) hit within my deficit goal for the week. I ended up eating high carb 3 days. This week I want to only make it two.

Cutmd - you're one of those people with the amazing bodies too! Be proud!

Now for the good news...I don't know what it is but I dropped .7% of body fat between last week and this week (I was up 2 lbs but what's new on Monday). I will have to check again tomorrow/wednesday but I think its a real body fat loss. Now, since I was coming off of weeks without a strict routine it could have been my BF was high last week or whatever but either way I am SUPER happy. I am now back where I was before the vacation marathon. I think it was the carb cycling because even with a lot of exercise I don't remember dropping that much in a week!

Now here's a question - I plan to do the same routine as last week only I had planned on upping calories ( was on 1lb loss last week and was going to do .5 lbs loss this week and continue that as a sort of weekly carb cycling). Since I had success last week should i just stick to the lower calorie goal? Thanks!

    Happy Monday Everyone!
Everyone seems to be doing great and making new goals to challege themselves, great job!

Okay, time to get back to business!! I've strayed away from the challenge for too long, now I need to get it back!! I've been doing leangains, but I'm not sure if it's really working, so I think I'm going to try and eat breakfast for the next week or so to see if I can tell a difference. I'll just be having 1 egg (either scrambled or over hard) with 1/2 piece of wheat toast to keep carbs a little lower. So that's part 1 of the challenge. For part 2 I also want to try and add in 1-2 extra workouts aside from jazzercise for the week. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I end up getting very lazy when I get home from work! For those workouts I'm thinking of body rock of 30DS.

I found out my official weight from the doctor and it's 110, so I'm pretty happy with that! They said they don't test body fat though, so I'll have to find some other way to do that. I'll have to try and be good this week and not go overboard on birthday celebrations, hopefully I'll remember that when the time comes!

I hope you all have a great start to your week and keep up on your challenges!!

chuisle- Great job on the %. I don't know a definite answer but, IMHO, I'd stick with what you had been doing for another week to see if you get the same results. Sometimes I tend to jump around so much I don't give it long enough to see if it works- so that's coming from someone who rarely takes that advice! I'm REALLY trying to with leangains so I can say yes/no this works for me. Good luck though!!

Day 3 of leangains. It's 11am here and I start my 'feeding window' at 12pm. Doing fine with lots of water. It seems (given it's only Monday) easier to do this during the work week. The weekend wasn't bad but with 2 kids at home, fixing a big breakfast for them and not eating wasn't terrible but it was more temptation than a work day when I'm too busy to eat at home anyways. So we'll see. Metabolic training this afternoon and strength training tonight. I read NROLFW since it was too hot to do much over the weekend. If anything, I got some good information about how to perform these exercises and where to go to 'see' it in proper form.

Yeah, it would seem like a bad idea to mess with something if it's working!

Really? are there so many better bodies in Vegas? I bet you are in the top 5%!
Oh, and hope you are rocking the sexy vegas wear.
I wore a really short dress in Vegas last weekend, it might have been a shirt, I am not sure! I will have to post a pic-you do the same:wink:

I did day 3 of the Sexy Female (SF) and it was pretty tough, I thought it would be better to end with the jumping rope, but that was after the wall sits and I really was pretty well exhausted. On the wall sits I started out holding the first one for a minute and half and then 45 secs and then the last two were 30 secs. With the jump roping I thought I could jump 45 secs and rest 15 but that only worked for two minutes then I was jumping 30 and resting 30.
Oh, and those side raises were a struggle even with only 5 lbs, maybe I will use my own 3 lb weights but they didn't have 3 lb weights at the gym!
I haven't gotten my body fat tested again, I was thinking maybe after four weeks of SF, and I am doing C25k at the same time.

Yeah, I did jump rope first and was fine for the work out and did it with only about a minute rest BUT I did not do super fast jumping and switched off legs so it was pretty slow.

And yes! Those side raises were KILLER. I started with 5 lbs and downgraded to 3lbs. Still had to take breaks!

cutmd - You are absolutely in the top 5%! actually, make that the top 1 or 2%! I don't think there are many more girls in Vegas with a better body than you!

Everyone seens to be working hard, great job!

Thanks. Maybe it will be my profile pic, if I could figure out how to crop out the roll of TP:tongue: . On a side note, I told my friends that my husband NEVER says my skirt is too short, or shorts, or whatever, if I ask, he says no. They thought the vegas "dress/shirt?" would finally get a yes, but we sent him that pic and he said, no, you're good

asjerven- The dress looks great on you. I love the your DH is cool with the dress. That's awesome!.

Finished day 3 of leangains with no real problems. Worked out late so I finsihed up my window with a good protein shake. Tomorrow is a 5am strength session...looking forward to it. Did the bodyrock from yesterday and that was enough to keel me over. Loved it and hated it at the same time.

I got in a little early and got my workout bag, ready for Day 1 of SF, again. I wonder if this gym has resistance bands. The one on Saturday did, but this is a different gym, so I guess I can use weights if not. Gotta try that reverse hyper again...
so far, so good. How is everyone else doing?

Day 4 of Leangains. Had issues with the BCAAs this am so I did drink a whey protein shake after the workout. For some reason the BCAAs wouldn't mix with the water, they just sat on the top. Weird. Not sure how I could mess up something as simple as pour and shake!!!!

Strength training this morning was shorter than planned (the perks of having 2 kids, I guess! ) But still go in 30 minutes. Going to see if bodyrock has something that I can do to add in a little more since I had planned a longer workout.

I was starving after drinking the protein shake but filled up with some water and only an hour to go before 'feeding time' .

Great job prepping for the SF workout. Good luck with it!

I did day 1 of Sexy Female again yesterday and have day 2 today.

My work is also starting 10 weeks of twice weekly 30 minute lunch time work outs to go along with "Slimdown Kansas City" so I'm going to do that as well. If I manage to attend at least 18 of the 20 classes then I will be eligible to win a $300 gift card. Woo hooo. It's also nice to throw an extra workout in and they will be mostly strength based which is great.

I was a little higher on carbs than planned yesterday but I don't feel too worried. I'm up 2 lbs at the moment from TOM (no way I really gained since I had at least a 3000 calorie deficit last week) which is annoying but c'est la vie!

great work, girls, that is cool about slimdown in Kansas. You should get something for 18 out of 20 workouts!
I got a massage scheduled for August 3 but I am trying to think when I might do the ultimate reward-boudoir photos. It's really expensive but I think I want a chronicle of my hard work, to look back on someday. I am really not sure what people do with those photos. I guess if you're Samantha on Sex and the City you enlarge them and hang them on your wall!

Oo lala! That sounds like it would be fun!! I'm not sure if I'd have the guts to do that, but they would be so fun! And Samantha would totally do that!! Charlotte would hide them behind a wall probably! The massage sounds great though! I'm thinking I might get myself one for my birthday or something.. possibly.. they're only $25 at a school for massage, so I might as well!

Chuisle - the Slimdown in Kansas sounds awesome! It almost sounds like the "Shape Up RI" thing we have in Rhode Island! I haven't done it though, you need a team and no one I work with wanted to do it.. we don't get put in a raffle for money though! Such a great incentive!

I've had breakfast for the past few days and I don't think my body is used to it anymore! I can't tell if it's working or not though, TOM is making it hard to tell.. I'm going to try and add in a different work out tomorrow before I go out to dinner, we'll see how that goes!!

I haven't weighed in a long time, I am trying to be satisfied with the clothes and the mirror (ha) and not listen to the scale. I think it would be discouraging and I am trying something new and want to give it a chance.

Wow! everyone has a plan and things look great!! Awesome job! I'm moving along with with the carb cycling so we"ll see where it takes me.

So, for the last 3 years, I've been plagued with extra skin from 2 pregnancies, 2 c-section and weight loss. I've been contemplating having the skin removed because it is such a source of insecurity or me. Also, having nursed 2 children and the weight loss, my girls have sadly deflated :grumble: I finally bit the bullet and went in for a consult with a plastic surgeon today. He said I am an excellent candidate for surgery and all I would need is a mini tummy tuck. My husband isn't for the implants, but I really want them. Fortunately, he is fine with the abdomen surgery. So, as my reward for my hard work, I am going to get the skin removed over my Christmas break when I'm off from school. I am so excited, I wish I could do it next week!! I could always wear a push up bra, but if he lets me, I'd love the implants too. It's just hard going from a C to an A

Ok, looks like everyone has a plan!! Keep up the good work!

    Hey jenomaha

What lose skin? Your abs look perfect to me - must be down real low? My boobies have gotten much smaller as well, from touching D to a small B . Hubby initially said if I don't get any bigger after kids I could get them done but now he says fake bobs look nice but feel like $h*t, so who knows:laugh:

Cutmd...yup down low...when I teach class, if I wear shorter pants or a shorter shirt, and I'm doing a lot of jumping, my "shelf" or "sac" pops out...very embarassing :blushing: And that's what my hubby says, he doesn't like the way the fake boobies would feel. But I'm the one who has to look the way I look!! hmph  lol!!

You look hot in that dress! I love it! I was definitely rocking the short tight dresses this weekend, hubby loved it. I don't think they are ever to short or tight for him! Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I didn't take any pictures. You know what they say about what happens in Vegas.... One of the dresses I'm pretty sure was a shirt, but the only missing element per hubby were long black boots...

Thanks all for the encouragement, i needed the boost! those Vegas ladies were definitely flaunting it. Makes me feel like we should all be doing it more often while we still can!

My post was getting too long, here is the stuff about my new diet strategy

I did a 22hr fast today and bought chicken breasts, egg whites, veggies, fruit, and kelp noodles (my 6 calorie darlings). I broke down and bought the visual impact for women ebook, which sucks cause it basically recommends slashing calories to protein-sparing modified fast levels for 1-2 weeks at a time to lose, then maintenance, etc. It makes sense but basically I'd be looking at averaging 6x my goal weight, or 690 calories for the week to yield a 2 pound fat loss. If you don't eat your exercise cals you could theoretically burn another 1-2 pounds with steady state cardio. With water weight he says you're looking at 10lbs in 2 weeks.
Definitely controversial but certainly backed up by data, especially the 800 calorie diet + resistance training study.

So basically my week would look like:

Tuesday fast, 600 cal dinner, 600 cal workout, negative balance to play with for the week
Wednesday leangains till noon, then lunch chicken breast and veggies, dinner chicken breast with kelp noodle and veggie, apple
Thurs leangains, protein+veggie, veggie soup for dinner, peach
    Etc, etc.
Exercise for the week would be light like 30day shred + walking

This would be easy if hubby were out of town, but he's always cooking and suggesting ice cream

Amy - go for the photo shoot! Make a record of how hot you are for those days when gravity finally gets the best of all of us! You just keep it for yourself and hubby or show it to close friends. For posterity's sake :)

Jenomaha - you go girl! You're obviously working hard to stay in shape and in good health but there's some things we just can't fix ourselves.

Cutmd - wow, that sounds intense (I feel like I'm always saying that to you!) but I bet you'll see results.

For myself, I didn't do the 30 minute running called for yesterday but I did do circuit in the morning at work and 10 minutes running and 30 walking...it was 105 with the heat index so I thought that was plenty! I also did a good job of keeping the day low carb! It's getting easier but I am definitely not eating as many calories as usual. But, since I don't feel hungry I am not going to worry about it too much.

Today the scale went down by 1.8 lbs...and my BFM went up by .6%! How frustrating!! I am going to try not to worry very much and just see where I'm at next week. Sigh. I wonder why its doing that?

jenomaha- That's awesome! You look absolutely fabulous! But I can understand your concern with the post-baby issues. I still have weight to lose but it's obvious even when I do that, there will still be extra skin (and don't even get me started on deflated girls!!)

cutmd-I had downloaded Rusty's 'ab videos' and he mentions 'Visual Impact' often in them. Thanks for explaining it! Let us know if you give it a go!

Day 5 of Leangains for me, 9am so only 3 hours before 'window' opens. Doing fine with it. I had considered ESE before settling on Leangains, I have to admit I don't know if I could do ESE. I'm fine except for on the drive in to work (I think there's too much time to 'think' about food!!!) so a full 24 hours is intense. Kudos to anyone who does it!

Did SF last night, it was the Day 1 and I did the reverse hyper on the ball on the bench! I think it really helped me understand the movement because it was tough! Also I got on the scale today and was happy with the 110.5, even though it doesn't really matter.
CutMD-I wish I had the discipline for such a program, that is intense and I can't believe you want to lose 10 lbs! You look great and I'm glad you had fun it Vegas, I think you are right, we really should flaunt it while we got it! I saw a list that said no mini skirts after 35:grumble: I am going to ignore it.
Jen-you look great but a mommy deserves a mommy-tuck. I can see wanting to restore the "girls" to their former glory, but I think I would feel weird about something unnatural under my skin. Victoria's Secret has some pretty impressive push ups these days, but I am not judging those who get implants!
Mamareese-glad leangains is going well for you, I think the noon-8pm window would be most doable for me and DH might not even notice, you can have tea and coffee in the morning, right?
Lula! jump in any time, we invent our own two week challenge and support each other, so if you have something you want to try for two weeks, share!
