No longer 0 for tonight. Boyfriend and I are grabbing dinner out and they have 34oz beers where we're going and well, I can't pass them up when we go there. 0 tomorrow for sure though!

What is the board's overall opinion about alcohol and dieting?
Do you see more of a weight loss when you are not drinking?
When you drink do you stay under your calories, but not lose? Or stay under your calories and lose at a slower rate?
I have drastically cut back my drinking, and have seen losses...but wondering if cutting back even further will help me lose faster...
So far this week (it has been really light)
    Sunday - 0
    Monday - 4 oz wine
    Tuesday - 0
Wednesday - 1 bottle of Stella

I am going to try to keep tonight at a 0, but really do enjoy that evening cocktail....is it worth it if I feel deprived? I also notice that my sleep snacking increased this week....and I wonder if it is because subconsciously want to eat those calories I saved from drinks....
Even with drinks I rarely go over calories -- I believe it has been 3 times since I started MFP, and it is a small overage. I did go over by 70 yesterday...I was just famished for some reason! Most days I have at least 150 extra calories remaining.

I can't speak for everyone, of course, but the general sense I have is that while most of acknowledge that weight loss is easier and better without the empty calories of alcohol its a whole lot less fun and we refuse to give it up. :)

Hello fellow lushes!! It's been a couple of weeks since my last babbling here. Hey, I see alot of "0" drinks out there. Congrats!

Good job Robin! :flowerforyou: Yes baby steps it is! Love sushi, Amy! Enjoy!

I find if I eat at a regular dinner time, I don't drink. But, what usually happens is I start drinking beers and THEN eat. I fix just enough (ahead of the :drinker: ing) so I don't have extra to gobble down.

This is week two of no work.....I miss the temp job! I am trying to be more productive this time around, as far as not being a total couch potato. And talk about baby steps, Robin, I actually got on my Total Gym and did a few (a very few) excersises the last 2 days. It did feel good and brought back memories of the work outs that I use to do. <Sigh> But I can do it!!!

Mrs Jax, hello and welcome! My planned drink calories can slightly tip over the calorie allowance. It does slow weight loss. When I do eat my calories instead of drink them, I plan on using them all up but not go over. I do lose weight quicker. Now, if I eat all my alloted calories AND add my unplanned drink calories I slow to a standstill and/or gain a lb. or two. And then it's the battle to get THAT off and continue losing. LOL Oh so fun!! :grumble: But just keep trying......it will come off. Make sure you take measurements....when I get blue about weight loss, I take my measurements (about once a month) and it usually shows some inches lost.

Okay, all have a good day!!

    Rut roh, Kat...what's going on?

I had a drink earlier and I just sent hubs and my sister-wife to the LQ (on their bikes, ha!) to get me some beer. I've not taken any pain meds today--just Advil--and I'm hurting a bit, so I might wash down my Perc with some refreshing summer brew.

Amy, I meant to tell you that I feel your pain about not being able to hang in Vegas any more...the first time Hubs and I went we partied so hard the first night we didn't drink anything else the rest of the time.

Aw! I hope things get better...it is Friday! That makes everything better, right? Isn't it funny how we find support in people we've never met? *hugs*

Last night I actually did NOT want to drink but a friend came over with skinny girl and I didn't want her to feel weird, being the only one with a glass but I did manage to not drink too much. I got a big project at work so it was sort of a celebration. Soooo

Hey Faith! You are doing marvelous with your workout schedule and food diary, not to mention the 0 drinks. :flowerforyou: I can only hope to aspire to that!

Kat, hope everything is okay.....things will work out, hang in there! I'll be with ya in spirit tonight :drinker:

Amy, I take it you had some sort of tumble.....get better soon!!

I think I'll go cuss at my scale.....maybe that'll help from what I read here! Everybody have a great weekend and try and stay cool! :smokin: Oh, I don't smoke anymore! hehe

P.S. I did a little more excercise on the Gym set.....3 days and counting! Woohoo!

Sushi was good but my tummy is still not great. I was googling it and I think I got food poisoning, or the noral virus, or dysentery (from the pool in Vegas?!) so maybe I will be drink free tonight as well...

Pam, I had my knee scoped last Friday...good times.

I had a 1/2 a beer, but then my tummy started acting funny, so I went to bed.

I'm avoiding my 20-year high school reunion this weekend.

Peeps, been drinking obnoxious amounts on Tuesday & Wednesday & Thursday

I took the younger boys river tubing yesterday and packed some vodka & lemonade. The day kind of went like this:

    So, 1 PM to 5:30 PM, vodka/lemonade
5:30 to 7:00, couple glasses of beer at restaurant
    7:00 to 9:00, 3 beers at friend's house
9:00 to 10:30 2 more beers at restaurant.
Up at 3 AM with bloated stomach, hot and general feeling like *kitten*. I think I have a problem :embarassed:

Kat and Amy, hope that you both start to feel better and back to normal :flowerforyou:

I've missed too many posts to comment on everyone...hope you have a blast this weekend...lots of zeros out there

    Monday, 0
    Tuesday, 5 glasses of wine
    Wednesday, 5 Paulanders & 1 cherry bomb
    Thursday, copious amount, 14ish

    Total: 25

Yep, I'm done for the week. I need to recover. :glasses:

Warrior Dash on Sunday so no drinking tomorrow. Today I did 65 minutes of a strength DVD then ran 2.5 miles of hills in preparation. Now I am enjoying a well-earned glass of wine.

Lushy week, in fact too many lushy weeks lately I think, which is why my waistline seems to be expanding :-(. I always seem to disappear from the lushy thread when I'm being bad so as next week I'm aiming to be good I should be around a bit :-) happy weekend

Whew! A non judgmental place to say I love my wine!!! I work in a winery, and I am around it all day long. I am sooo trying to cut back, for obvious reasons, but let me tell you, it aint easy!
So far so good though...keeping moderation in mind!

Seriously, I swear I wouldn't be this "chubby" if I didn't like the drinks/beer! I've been doing better this week but I still went a little overboard the other night.:smooched:

Anyway, I hope to check in with you guys and keep myself accountable!

I am seeing lots of zeros whether it be intended or circumstance.

Kat - Hope you are doing better.

Robin - Sounds like your on your way to getting back on track.

Amy - Wishing you no pain in the knee.

Kasi and Faith - You both are doing awesome.

Yvonne - Hope to see you posting if that is your plan.

Redfox - Good luck in the Warrior Dash!

Pam - You can do this (BTW I love your pic).

Sorry if I forgot people, still kind of new getting to know everyone.

AFM. It;s been one week today since I put my baby down and I am feeling very sad today, particularly when I come home to an empty house. My ****head cat (whom I love dearly) does not greet me the same. I am thinking about taking a training class with Canine Assistance( www.canineassistants.org/ ), they train service dogs for people who are physically disabled or have other special needs. I would like to train for their fostering program. Volunteers must be Certified Volunteer Handlers to assist with this program. Volunteers are assigned a puppy at 10 weeks old and work with that puppy until graduation. Volunteers assist trainers with socialization, exercise and basic training. I interned there a couple of years ago when I was getting my Psyche degree. They work with mostly golden retrievers (whenever I see Robin's dog picture, Bodi, it makes me smile) they are so smart and have such great temperaments. Haven't yet decided.

Here is what my week looks like. The scale is finally moving down but I think it has more to do more with not eating all my exercise calories and adding more weight to my training sessions then lack of lushiness.

    Wednesday - 0
    Thursday - 0
Friday - 3 glasses of Shiraz

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend! It's going to be hot and steamy here!

Robin, I had 3/4th of a bottle last night...with crab legs and pasta...I have a serious problem this week...I don't know why, I just do.

    Goal for tonight is ZERO

Tomorrow is Warrior Dash, I did it with a major hangover last year. When I returned I joined this thread. Not sure I am any better a year later :ohwell:

Kim, I think you're in a better place...you're planning on NOT drinking tonight, and i have a feeling that if you do, you'll not be "hangover worthy". Kick a$s tomorrow!!

We have a neighborhood party tonight, but I probably won't overdo it because I have a ton of crap to do tomorrow. Funny, I logged 2 beers last night, but only drank one. Yay!
