I am so ready for this baby to pop out but I dont want her to come until after Monday. I just dont want a 4th of July baby. Last night I had bad cramps right around bedtime. Bf got really worried but I was able to sleep through it so I said it really couldnt be anything for real.
Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Today my friend invited me swimming. I am looking forward to that. Monday, bf and I are gonna watch fireworks at his work.0 -
Anne - thanks for starting a new thread!
Maureen - have fun swimming!0 -
prepping for the guest invasion but stopped in to see about Emma....
CONGRATULATIONS Mama Brittony !!!!!
Hope you are recovering nicely and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it and, of course, photos of your precious Emma.
xoxo0 -
Maureen- Enjoy the pool and the fireworks... fingers crossed for a July 5th baby for you!
Victoria- Enjoy your guests this weekend.0 -
Bumping to stalk you guys0
-
Thanks Anne! It hadn't even crossed my mind.
Maureen -- I was thinking I don't want a holiday baby but after I thought about it, it could be fun for a while. You could totally convince her all the fireworks were for her birthday. After about 6-7 years it'd probably get pretty old for her though. :ohwell:
Maria -- That um... discharge sounds a lot like what I'm having now after the mucous plug/show stuff.
I'm still thinking maybe the exam caused the bleeding and then I lost my plug. I a bit skeptical the bloody show was the real deal.
I keep getting a strong crampy contraction or two and then they fizzle out. Such a tease! I'm a bit later than I wanted, but I'm about to take the pup for as long of a walk as possible. It's already almost 90 out. Blech!0 -
Congrats Brittony!!!! I can't wait to see pictures :flowerforyou:0
-
Thanks Anne for remembering. I totally spaced it, too
Getting ready for my son's baptism this morning. (In our church we baptize when kids are 8 and can understand the promises they make). Excited, but wow I can't believe he's already 8! Going to try my best to not be an emotional boober, haha.
And in a few months we'll be welcoming his little brother - this is a busy year for our family!0 -
Yes, thanks Anne, that didn't even cross my mind either.
Julz, congrats on your son's baptism. I do believe we go to the same church. )
Julie, at least you are having contractions. I have still haven't really had any... I hope that just means that all the dilation will occur close together.
Today will be a good day. I have my hubby all day long. We actually got up pretty early and I made cinnamon rolls, eggs and sausage. Now he's working in the yard, and I am going to install the car seat and return some gifts to Walmart. We might go to a matinee also, yay for cheaper movies.0 -
Julz- Enjoy the baptism! Special day for your DS!
Rachael- Enjoy having your DH around, mine has to work this afternoon ;(
Julie- uhg, too hot here to walk now... its 8 am or nothing for me haha.
SO i just hit up The Childrens Place sale.. AMAZING... took my online printed 15% off coupon and got a pair of jeans, pair of cloth pants, pair of shorts, tank top, t shirt, 2 pairs of tights for 17 dollars.... all for next summer's sizes!0 -
I am due on 9/1/11. This is my first pregnancy. I don't know the sex of the baby yet, but get to find out at my baby shower --- mind you everyone else in my family knows. This was the deal I made with my sisters since I wanted to find out what the sex was and they didn't want me to. I made the deal that I would wait until the baby shower to find out (my husband has known since April!! -- makes it hard for me to do any shopping to get ready for the baby). My baby shower is July 30 (how evil are my sisters?). I think it is a girl and have since the beginning, but we will see come July 30th what it actually is.
How can you tell if the baby has turned? At 28wks the baby was still breech (had an ultrasound for a health check for the baby).0 -
Bridgett- That sounds awful! I never would have been able to wait to find out, it will be SO fun at your shower though! Not sure about the baby turning.... FTM here! Welcome!0
-
Wow. I just put on a pair of my fat jeans that are 3-4 sizes bigger than I wore pre-pregnancy and I can button them  Who the hell does Old Navy make jeans for, anyway? Apparently women who are 9 months pregnant.
They never fit when I was fat(ter) because the hips/thighs were way too tight & I couldn't get them on. By the time I lost enough weight that they fit there, the waist was way too big. Now that I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have gained some weight in my hips/thighs and my waistline has increased by about 11 inches, they fit perfectly!   Ridiculous.0 -
Also bumping to stalk. Congrats Brittony! I can't wait to see her0

Julie – it’s in the 90’s here too. We had a memorial service for my Aunt Charlotte at the cemetery today and I thought I was going to die from just a half an hour in the heat.
Julz – congrats on your sons baptism! I cry now when I see babies get baptized I doubt I’ll be able to hold it together when it’s Kathryn’s turn.
Rachael – I hope you’re enjoying the day with your hubby!
Anne – I’m using all my will power to stay away from The Children’s Place. Even with the sale I could do some serious damage.
Bridgett – Welcome and congratulations!! I don’t think I’d be able to stand having everyone else know except me. I heard on the radio that now a lot of people are having the doctor put the sex of the baby into a sealed envelop and taking it to a bakery. They make a cake with either pink or blue inside and the parents throw a party and find out the sex when they cut into the cake with all their family and friends there.
Kacy - miss you!!!! Hope you're doing well!
I’m pretty sure I’m going to gain at least 5 pounds just over this weekend with all the picnics (and desserts) everywhere I turn. ::sigh::0 -
Bump! Tried to post a pic using the iPod but I can't figure it out. Oh how I wish my laptop worked. Baby girl is sleeping soundly... So is my husband. We are pooped. Blissfully pooped0
-
Julie - yeah, it's especially hard to not cry when it's your own child. But everyone understands, and almost expects it, so all good!
It was a great service, but I am exhausted now. We're supposed to go to a block-party tonight at a family members, but I don't know if we're going to make it. Nap time :yawn:0 -
So ladies I have had something I have been thinking about and have not been ready to talk about it up to this point except with my DH of course. This may be long sorry. As I have complained to you many times about my sickness, I called my dr. yesterday to ask her at what point I should go to the hospital for dehydration. She called me back and gave me some symptoms to look for ect. She also said she understood why I don’t want to be on the IV but she may insist at some point if she feels it is needed. She then said that she wanted me to think about something for the next week (my next apt is July 11th). She said she wanted to offer me an early induction (she said probably 39 weeks but we could discuss it further). She reminded me that there was NO PRESSURE, she does not love inducing patients and is not pushing me to do so in any way. She wanted me to have that option because of how sick I have been getting. She is slightly worried that I am getting more and more exhausted as time goes and how that will affect my labor. She said that she would be checking my cervix and we could decide based on what she finds in the next couple weeks but she wanted me to think about if it is something that I want to do. She told me many times that she would let me go to 42 weeks if that is what I want but she felt it necessary to give me that option.
Well this whole time I have been thinking no way till 41 weeks would I be induced but I have just been feeling really really down physically and mentally the last two weeks. I have been spending the day researching inductions and I understand the risks. I have not made me decision but I am considering it. I know that some of you are very against it and I understand your reasons for that. I just don’t know how much longer I can take feeling this way. I feel like I cannot do anything and I spend every minute thinking about feeling so badly. I don't want to go out to eat because I have to puke in the restraunt, I can go walking but usually those days I feel sicker than others because of the temperature, I don't feel like I can be outsife because the heat makes me dizzy, I tried baking cookies today and it was fun! but i can't eat them because I just throw them up... so on and so forth.
Well I just wanted to share that this is on my mind
Thanks for listening0 -
Julie- thats so funny about your jeans! Old Navy pants never fit me.
Kacy- Hope things are going well! We miss you!
Ronya- Enjoy the food! Maybe just try to get some extra exercise in this week?
Brittony- I can't wait to see pictures! I hope you and family are doing well!
Julz- I am glad the service went so well! I don't blame you for taking a nap!0 -
Julie - yeah, it's especially hard to not cry when it's your own child. But everyone understands, and almost expects it, so all good!
Oops, it was Ron, not Julie who posted that, wasn't it. Sorry ... can you tell I'm tired? :blushing:
Anne - IMO, when there's a medical reason, I don't think an early induction is necessarily bad. And you definitely have a good reason! Labor can be intense and exhausting (induced or not) and you want as much energy as possible for it. If you and your doc decide it's best for you to go early, don't feel guilty about it - and don't let anyone tell you it's the wrong choice (Just like we all said to Brittony about deciding on a c-section for Emma). And who knows, maybe she'll decide to come early anyway0 -
Congratulations Brittony! I'm so glad you and Emma are doing well.
Anne - I don't think it's unreasonable for you to consider getting induced early. You have been so sick for so long and it seems to be getting worse recently. You know your body better than anyone else. I know it won't be an easy decision but you need to do what's best for you and your baby.
Julz - congratulations on your son's baptism.0 -
Anne -- If I was in your place, I'd consider the induction option, too.
I couldn't stay away from Gymboree. I got super cute 6 hats, a headband, some knit tights, and a pair of mittens for $7.65!!
Also, since I was already in a mall, I decided to return a pack of bibs someone had given me from Belk (department store for those of you not in the south) since we have about 20 other bibs and I really didn't care for the design of them at all. I got a $15 credit for them which blew my mind because I was expecting about $5. So I went to browse the 75% off sale rack and got 3 creepers, a 3-piece outfit set with 2 shirts and a pair of footed pants, and another 3 piece set with a tank top onesie, a tshirt, and a pair of shorts all for just $2.61 out of pocket after the store credit. All Carter's stuff. Ugh, so good.
It's funny because with going for a walk, and doing stuff around the house, and then going shopping, my husband keeps warning me "Don't overdo it!" And I keep replying, "Um... I'm TRYING to overdo it!" :laugh:0 -
Thanks for the support ladies. I don't need to make my decision for awhile so I am going to mull over it0
-
Finally home....
Just wanted to say congrats to Brittony on the birth of Miss. Emma! On your iPod touch you can upload an image for you user image on here if you want to show her off I will try to catch up with you ladies tomorrow!0 -
Anne Elise - As against induction as I am, I would be highly tempted to take the option given how sick you are feeling. Just make sure that you understand induced labors are generally stronger, harder than natural labors - a lot of women compare it to being in transition the entire time. They increase the interventions in labor and more often than not lead to a c-section. If you understand all of this and still feel like it is the best option for your family, then I would go ahead.
You ladies are killing me with the shopping. J wanted to buy baby clothes when we were at the mall and I had to reign him in. The fall consignment is coming up and I'm trying to decide whether or not I should go and get generic stuff for the baby or just watch for clearance and sales?0 -
Anne, you need to decide what is best for you, but I would suggest tying the daily Ivs before an induction. If you think you don't like needles... Wait for the induction! Big needle in your hand!! Induction is exhausting, you feel like crap the whole time. Mine included a migraine and lots of puking. Might have been the maganesium for the pree though doing that. Not to say don't do it, but you have an option in the meantime that may help, and really- if you needed a csection for your LOs health you'd do it in a heartbeat right? Even though its not ideal. No "well, i dont like scalpels, so lets skip the C/S". Not liking needles or it being less convenient is no reason not to opt for the Ivs to get the nutrients you and LO need if it's that bad. Not trying to be harsh- just putting out another way to look at it. you know whatever you decide we're all 100% supportive!0

Katrina/Anne -- I'm sorry, I have to comment. And I really hope I can do it without offending anyone because I promise that's not the intention. I KNOW Katrina didn't mean anything by it, but according to the statistics I've seen, inductions do not "more often than not lead to a c-section." Katrina, do you have an information source you'd like to share (I promise I mean this in a curious and non-snarky way!)? Of course you can always ask your OB for their personal/hospital statistics, Anne, if you were very concerned about it.
According to the few articles I've read, although the rate of c-section for induction *is* notably higher than it is for those who go into labor naturally, it's still not more than 50%. One article I read says 44% rate of c-section for 1st time moms who were induced (http://articles.cnn.com/2007-08-23/health/ep.csection_1_c-section-stratton-labor?_s=PM:HEALTH). Another source cites a study where 25% of induced 1st time moms who were "low risk for induction" (as it sounds like Anne would be) ended up with a c-section versus 14% of those "low-risk" women who went into labor naturally (http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/06/21/us-induced-labor-election-idUSTRE65K6DW20100621). So 25% for low-risk inductions or 44% for all inductions -- neither is more than half. And it's not that I think CNN or Reuters are super reputable sources on the subject but at least they consulted a doctor or cited an actual study which is more than I can say for most message boards or blogs on the subject (from what I've seen). I apologize if this seems confrontational because I don't mean it to be. It just concerns me when I see information thrown out there like that and then I can't find any reputable source to back it up and then instead find several sources stating otherwise. I know Anne will and is perfectly capable of doing her own research and talking to her doctor about everything. And again, I ask for sources out of curiosity & wanting to learn in the case that I'm misinformed, not in a "prove it" kind of way. :flowerforyou:0 -
OK, so mine wasn't exactly an induction, but I did need pit at the end. Basically I got stuck in transition (hours and hours and 9 cm, ugh), and contractions were really hard and inefficient. The pitocin actually really evened things out. Not just subjective, but from watching the monitor it went from really sporadic and irregular to smooth, regular curves. So, don't know if my experience was just odd-ball (hey, I like to stand out!), or if sometimes pitocin isn't as harsh as natural.
Anyway, IMO, your doctor should be a really great resource for info. After all, they've done years of school and training, and years more of experience in the field. I know that my doc is really open minded and his approach has always been as little medical intervention in the natural process as possible, so when he tells me something extra needs to be considered, I think about it0 -
Thanks for the info ladies- and no I didn't take any of it in a bad way
Katrina- I do understand what you are saying because I have heard that induction can stahl labor more often because your body isn't ready. I need to talk to my doctor more about this because she said we could decide not to do it if my cervix wasn't ripening at all (no dialtion, no effacement).
Mel- You arn't being harsh it makes prefect sense what you are saying. I may end up having to try the IV's. At this point non of this would be for the babies health. Baby (so far) is growing just fine ( ahead actually) and she is getting everything she needs. This is would be for me purely which is why I am having a hard time because I feel like I am being selfish. I know that physically I feel like crap daily (but I have since 7 weeks) so I think mentally I am just starting to really wear down and I think that being on IV's every day might hurt that more than help that. (I don't know if that makes sense). I remember that you and Lynn had long not great expierances being induced which is something I am considering because I really don't want that.
Julie- Thanks for the information. I understand totally where you are coming from just trying to make sure the right info is out there. It really is hard to find because I have been reading for days and it is TOTALLY conflicting info from one source to the next... I may just have to wait and trust what my dr. says.
Julz- A lot of what I read says that if your cervix is semi-ready then induction usually does what you are saying exactly but if you start it when you arn't ripe at all it can cause a lot of strong contractions that last longer because you arn't ready. You are right though, I need to discuss it with dr. next week.
Part of me is glad that she told me a week early to consider it so I wasn't just shocked at the option at my next apt. but now I feel like I am over thinking and over researching and will for the next week haha. I believe that my midwife will give me the honest information because she isn't biased one way or the other in this case (she doesn't believe in intervention if not needed).
My DH basically said that if the dr. says it is fine for the baby then it is your choice 100% and I will support that choice... while it is very nice that he is being so supportive a small opinion could help
Just another note, I do plan on getting and epidural at some point during labor either way so that isn't a concern for me.0 -
Brittony – so you and Emma are doing well. I can’t wait to see pictures!!!
Anne – you have to do whatever is best for you and your LO. If I were as sick as you have been, I think I’d jump at the chance.0
