Ladies I completely understand! Here's the difference: when you've been trying for awhile it gets to be a slap in the face to alter your lifestyle every month with no results.
Personally, I don't believe things I read in magazines - but that's because as a nursing student I normally go right to the study to read it myself. It's true that some studies suggest slowing down a bit, but I've found no hard core scientific basis for it.
With that said, every woman is different and every woman knows what feels right to her. If you need to slow down, go for it! Do what feels right for you. For me, after trying for more that a year, I won't change my actions every month because if I do I will go crazy!
I think you'll find a lot of diversity here - we don't all agree all the time, but we're always here for one another and we can talk openly about anything. Rest assured - this is a safe haven for everyone!0 -

And a strange fact: I have 2 different coloured eyes (one blue one green) They fluctate on intensity with my moods. I would have been burned at the stake for this in the 18th Century because they believed this would have made me a witch.
AFM- Still can't do more then walk from my bed to the couch and back again. The vomitting, shakiness, and dizziness continues. I was hoping this would resolve when I was back to my everyday routine at home but I'm still waiting. Welcome to all the newbies!0 -
AFM: The girls are very sore today. But, apparently, that's what Progesterone can do, so it's not necessarily a sign of pregnancy. Especially when I consider that I had NO symptoms with my first pregnancy till much further along. It's the meds messing with my mind. Normally, I'd be spotting by now, but the progesterone seems to be curtailing that as well. Just taking it a day at a time as best I can, resisting the urge to pee on any sticks. Last night I had a "splurge" meal--Fosters grilled cheese and french fries. It was totally worth it, except for the heartburn. Ugh. Tonight I'm getting a haircut. I totally need it (I'm a really short hair girl), and I'm really looking forward to it.
I totally get you with the urg to pee on a stick last month I had ALL they symptoms so I peed on a stick 2x even though I knew it was way too soon to tell...we weren't even trying at that point, but since we got used to the idea of "holy crap me might have a kid." We also got real attached to the idea and decided to try I'm a short hair girl too but decided I want to grow it out. My hubby and I are both not cutting our hair until the first kid is born (could be 10 months could be a few years, we'll see)0 -
Question: Do you all recommend a prenatal when ttc or just folic acid? i'm sure everyone has a different openion, but what do you take and why?
Prenatal vitamin Our bodies don't always have the optimum levels of vitamins and nutrients so it's best to get the levels up before someone else is taking them from you. For example, Vitamin B6 is needed for your body to maintain healthy progesterone levels.
As for the question about working out, if you look a little higher on this page you'll see a post I wrote explaining why you don't need to change your lifestyle when TTC. And further to that - in a lot of cases you can maintain your activity level (running and all) until the 3rd trimester if you are healthy and fit. You may need to modify a few things but it can be done.
I guess I'll be picking up some prenatals i'm so glad I found you guys! My physical friends don't want to hear about any of my thoughts, concerns or any of that. I did read your post about working out and did some research, I guess we'll see how my body responds this month. The main reason I was concerned is that last month I was WAY light, and only lasted like 2 days so I am wondering if my hardcore work outs are messing up my system (I didn't have a regular cycle the whole time I was at boot camp)0 -

Weird fact about myself: I name all my pets after nuts. I kind of inherited my first dog already named Peanut, but then I decided that all pets were crazy (nuts!) so it stuck. Right now I have Peanut, Coconut, and Walnut (all dogs), but I've also had another dog named Pinon (a type of pine nut) and a turtle named Pecan.
Yesterday I accomplished all of my goals, but I didn't get any strength training in. Hopefully today so that I can go every other day and give my body some time to rest. I've figured out that even though I don't have a whole lot going on in my life (besides a baby, house, husband) that I don't really have a whole lot of free time to post on here as much as I'd like. I'm going to try and check in daily though. But I'll admit that I do peek around throughout the day on my phone :blushing: Hope everyone is having a great tuesday!0 -

I understand! That's something that would make me worry a bit too - it might be good to get your doc to check you out if you aren't having regular cycles - that could mean something more serious is going on.
I know that when some women get down to a low body fat (too low) that can interrupt their cycles as well (I experiences that when I was in infantry training in 1999 - it freaked me out!). Obviously you know what works best for you and if easing up means regular cycles then all the better! After all - we can't have babies without a cycle! And we all want babies!0 -
Are there any foods that are good sources of folic acids/other B vitamins? I know they are important for health in general, but I've heard having too much of them can be bad for women's bodies, so I thought I would start slow and go with foods for it. (I honestly don't remember where, so if I'm wrong, feel free to correct).0

i can relate to so much of the 'weirdness'. i knit, i am obsessed with my budget spreadsheet and making lists, my sister makes fun of me when i flair my nostrils, we don't have cable, etc. good thing i am in good company.
so i was supposed to start menstrauting today, but didn't. hopefully i will start tomorrow or it will throw off being able to try again in october... le sigh. i hope my hormones can get it together. if you are a believer, i'd appreciate prayers.0 -
GBOH - I'm sorry to hear that! How are you feeling? Do you feel like you'll start tomorrow? Fingers crossed for you!
Amanda - I'm sorry you're still not feeling well! I can't remember to precursor/specifics but I hope you feel better soon! Also - I lived in AB for years - I loved it out there!
So I was just re-reading everyone's intro - I made a boo boo in mine! :blushing: I said no meds but I've been on Clomid for 5 cycles. Sorry about that ladies!0 -
GBOH- I will be praying. I hope that all works out for you. Pardon my ignorance, but why can't you try until Oct? Are you doing IVF?0

AFM I think I drove the Hubby crazy last month with all my stress about ttc. I got so worried every time opk was negative, and was a tad crazy about if we were "trying" enough or at the right time lol I just felt like my cycle was kooky last month, and on Monday my eye doctor said that the antihistamine and steroid drops she had prescribed were probably to blame(had stopped taking them right at the end of last cycle). Sooooo this month my goal is to relax and have some more fun with this! Even though my miscarriage was so long ago I don't think that fear ever really goes away, ya know?0 -
GBOH- I will be praying. I hope that all works out for you. Pardon my ignorance, but why can't you try until Oct? Are you doing IVF?
i went through premature menopause when i was 27. it is sometimes called premature ovarian failure, premature ovarian insufficiency, or primary ovarian insufficiency. menopause that early is unnatural and usually because a woman runs out of viable eggs. the strange thing is i still have eggs and have pcos. i was pretty much laughed at for three years before seeing my current fertility specialist, who thought under the 'right' set of circumstances (read once in a blue moon) that i may be able to conceive again. without hormone replacement therapy, my body's hormones are nuts and i need to take the time off between ttc each month to get them back to normalize. it's kind of a bummer deal.0 -
That is definitely a bummer! My sister-in-law was told she couldn't have kids or that it would be hard for her because only one ovary produces eggs, and there is some other abnormality so she's super irregular. But she has had 2 kids since then so I hope it's the same way for you. All things are possible with God, so i'm glad you didn't listen to all those lame doctors!0

i feel fine. no af. i am bloated from the extra progesterone, but so far no sign of an impending period. i am going to call this morning and see what they want to do. i leave town on friday, come back monday, leave town tuesday night, come back sunday, so that means all of next week is out for blood tests and hormone experimentation. if they want to play wait-and-see for two weeks, that is a huge delay for things in october.0 -

it sounds completely crazy but i know i am supposed to have at least one more boy (i hope a couple of girls too, but i am only certain about the boy). before i went into menopause, i had the most vivid dream of a boy named alan elijah playing with my (in the dream, teenage) sons. i saw him clearly and i believe it was a prophecy from God letting me know it was okay to have hope; that he would provide for me. maybe that means adoption, but i really felt like it was 'naturally'.0 -

One of my closet friends....had a lot of problems. I can't remember what the exact issue was regarding her ovaries...but every doctor and specialist she went to told her she was never going to be able to have children. And she told everybody that "YES" she was. And to spite all the doctors she managed to get pregnant and delivered her Miracle baby boy in May of this year.
No one should ever say never and good for you for staying positive Positivity will take a person really far!!!!
BTW I noticed you are doing a run for prostate cancer....thank you for doing that A really close friend of mine was recently diagnosed!\
I tried to quote the first paragraph from GBOH but Im not sure how I managed to screw it up! LOL0 -
BTW I noticed you are doing a run for prostate cancer....thank you for doing that A really close friend of mine was recently diagnosed!\
thanks for the encouragement!
my dad died from prostate cancer last year after a 2 year battle with it. he was 58. so many people think it is an old man's disease and that it doesn't kill, but it has almost the exact same statistics as breast cancer. i will be praying for your friend.0 -

I'm sorry to hear about your father.....and you are very right.....it is not an old mans disease and the stats keep getting higher....there is not enough awareness about this cancer. If more people new about it...they could possibly catch it in the earlier stages.
Thanks for praying for my friend0 -
I have a few things. #1 I am understanding a little more about what you guys are looking for as far as goals so my goals are to drink at least 64oz of water a day and to stretch nightly
#2 How do you know if/when you ovulate? I have never really paid attention to my cycle so I don't know how to tell. I have googled and googled, but I can never tell. I have also done the calculators online and some say one date and others say another. Hubby and I get busy frequently so i'm not too worried about missing an opportunity, but he has a wacky work scheduel so it would be nice to make sure we are both availible at the right times.0 -

SOOO. Today at the gym I ran for a full 25 minutes! It was slow but for me that's huge. I was born with a funnel chest (caved in chest plate) It's mild but it can cause me to have an intolerance to exercise and low lung capacity. I have the lung capacity of a little boy. No joke. I'm doing a 5K at the end of the month here in Tucson for the shooting victims back in January. Hoping to beat my time of 38 minutes from the last one. That was with a lot of stopping.
We're having a potluck today at school with all the teachers. They decided to do a mexican theme, of course, my archnemesis.
Also, AF should be here today just in time for parent orientation.0 -

Jar Jar Cakes. Oh wait---everyone will probably hate that as much as they did Jar Jar Binks, except for the rabid fans, of course. Sorry--I"m bad at this.0 -
