@annacataldo - I've really enjoyed you being on the team. When we were sending each other emails, I'm glad I got to know you better. You are truly an inspiration to me. I believe the goal of these exercises is to push you beyond what you would normally do. That said, we would ALL be proud of you if you only did 75 standing abs and 2 miles this week! We know that family, jobs, computer problems and other activities keep us from going "Biggest Loser Gung-Ho Style" BUT also keep us balanced. They are not a distraction and living your life beyond any goal you're focussing on is not a distraction. So, if you're reading this, just ALWAYS do your best - whether you're in some competition or not. Why? Because you're worth it and you deserve the best!

I think I needed this "realization" of balance in my life more than anyone else

Now everyone, here's my progress report:

    9/19 100 standing abs / 0 miles
    9/20 450 standing abs / 2 miles
    9/21 150 standing abs / 10 miles

Hey team!!! Sorry I've been MIA, I had a conference and very limited/to no internet access. I am very behind this week but I'm determined to do my best and then be fully back in the game for next week. That being said, I have a lot of miles to make up so I may be short there...but I'll do as many standing abs as I can above the required!!!

    Progress-

    Monday: 0
    Tuesday: 0
    Wednesday: 3 miles

    Totals: 0/100 standing abs

Oh also, we may have actually beat Team Ranged last week. I didn't have access to the forum or my spreadsheet to report my actual numbers which were over 100% for all of them...so to be on the safe side and get them in on time I just reported 100%. Sorry about that everyone!!! But we know we can beat them again!!

    Keep up the great work!

Being at a conference the first half of the week really put a damper on what I could get done. I'll be over on standing abs but definitely way under in miles. Next week I'll be back on track!

Sorry guys I'm doing rubbish with my miles. Hard, busy week this week. Will try and get miles in over the weekend but doubting I'll meet the target. I'm going to kill it on the standing abs though.

The miles will be my hardest. I have 2 days to get them in - 17 miles. Usually on the weekends, I can do long stationary bike miles so I'll have to pull out the ankle weights again! Awkward, but they do serve as extra weight resistance.
  • I hope you are all getting your miles done!

Just today and tomorrow to get it done and get them in!

Keep in mind, we just want you to do as many as you can, push yourself!

Remember to keep stretching and warming up.

If you are feeling stiff or sore, please do a 5 minute warm up walk!

Wow, great job this week. I've been so lazy/emotional this week that I haven't really put in a good effort. I just did a 10 mile bike ride and I'm hoping to put in a couple more 10 mile rides today.

Got as many miles in as I could. Sorry its not more, but that's the best I could manage with two days being completely taken away with flying and then at the hospital for 8+ hours with my mom. This upcoming week should be good tho. With my mom at her home all week, can't really leave, but they have all kinds of exercise equipment upstairs for me to work on.
  • All right everyone, if you haven't already start sending in your totals! I'll be sending out messages later tonight.

We are 2-2 right now with Ranged so lets get this party started!!!!

Guys, I don't know if I'll be able to do any of the Yoga Plank Poses. I weigh 249lbs and can't balance myself on my toes. Since I do my pushups on my knees, I guess my toes aren't strong enough. I'm going to focus on doing these exercises throughout the day. Since I don't do yoga, this seems very boring and time consuming (30 second holds) without getting much of a calorie burn. I think it's just something that I don't understand. I'm a total type A person and this is too slow for me. This, by far, will be the hardest challenge for me to date. I'll do my best.

    Okie,

    see: http://yoga.about.com/od/beginningyoga/a/benefits.htm
for the benefits of yoga .Yes, it is a small burn, but it does a lot for the body.
Regarding the planks, it does say to modify if necessary. Therefore, this one (which it sounds like you're describing): http://www.arthritistoday.org/Fitness/Exercise-Videos-and-Photos/Abs-exercises/asset-upload-file739-2932.jpg would have sufficed I'd have thought, but ask AthenaWho. Perhaps over the week you could work towards straightening your legs slightly/lifting your knees off the floor slightly, if there was any possibility. Don't stress.

Thanks babydull! I guess I don't know how to modify the plank unless I'm just laying in the floor :-)). I'll check out the link you provided. I was trying to do it like the lady did it in the youtube video.

This is my busy time of the month. I'm doing inventory & my son's football games have started. I probably won't do these poses again until the weekend. Doing inventory is so physically demanding and I burn lots of calories moving boxes, organizing shelves and going up and down ladders. I work until 7:30 pm and then go to my son's football game at 8pm. No, they're not in the NFL, but he has 2-3 games during the week and they last for 2 hours! Looks like it'll be another long one tonight. They're 0 - 4. Hopefully, they're win tonight!
