Brisa, I love walking outside, but I love the convenience of walking inside an air conditioned gym. I can't say I necessarily like riding the stationary bike, but I get some great burns, and I'm scared to try and get my fat *kitten* on a regular bike. I am not likely to fall off of the stationary bike or pop a tire. One of my goals is that by the time the weather breaks next year, I will feel healthy enough to get a bike and ride around the lake that we have here. I see all of the runners and riders parking their cars on the street in order to use the trail, and I want to go to. Right now, however, I'm afraid that I wouldn't even make the walk all the way around and then how would I get back home??

   INSERT EVIL, EVIL, EVIL LAUGH!!

Oh yeah Baby... OH YEAH!! I did it again... I did more than a Sprint Triathalon equivalent in just one afternoon. Don't ask about the amount of time it took though! I did the biking all together... I did have to take a break for a couple minutes because my HRM was showing 0 for my HR! Then I kept biking, kept biking and kept biking! 12.5 miles. Went over to the Elliptical machine and got started... 3.1 miles later I have never been soooooo happy to get off of the machine! Did it in about 47 minutes. Then, transitioned... oh how the transitions would kill my time if I was doing this in a race! I took my own sweet time. HR was still up but I was moving slow. Put on the swimming suit and got in the water. Was prepared to freeze but the water didn't seem so cold, though it instantly dropped my HR. Thought, let me get in my half mile... but was calculating. Thought, if I get in 3/4 of a mile that'd be good. But then... I thought - no... my HONEY BADGER SISTERS have already reached the Olympic level -- I need to just get in a full mile! So, I kept going and going and going. And, I did a full mile! Ended up doing some walking after all of that because, well, I just felt like I needed a natural stretch. Now, I keep stretching to combat any soreness tomorrow. Last time, I didn't really have any soreness... but I think my body is changing and I have, well my muscles have felt "tight" and "sluggish" all week. Anyway - I am enjoying this so it may become a regular Saturday routine.

So... the miles are building up for the HONEY BADGERS... we are gonna WIN THIS THANG!! Sorry, I know that all your hearts are breaking, :brokenheart: , but second place is OK... for anyone but the HONEY BADGERS!!

And Staci... more power to you sister! WOW!! Doing the Sprint level is about the max of what I could do. I might be able to do the Olympic level if it was on different days... I am anxious to hear how it goes!! GOOOOOOOD LUCK!
  •  Becky...that is so cool keep up the great workouts.

 A lot of happy faces for you Becky.

Did one mile today for walking and I will work on my bike workout. I need to get a pedometer for my bike really bad. I will work on that after Church tomorrow.

    have a great night

Thanks for the spreadsheet update. So basically instead of pushing myself the extra .4 miles on the bike, i should have gone. 5? :-)

Having rather overindulged in every sense with dinner guests last night, i'm hitting the gym later. I'll soon fix that problem. ;-)
  • We just got to the hotel and the first thing I checked out was the pool and exercise area. There is an elliptical, treadmill, stationary bike and weight machine. So excited for the morning! I was kinda nervous about going out for a run someplace I am not familiar with, but I only have 6 something miles to go and I WILL do it tomorrow. And I can start on my bike miles! Woot! Woot! And then hop in the (sadly clothing required) hot tub to relax after before I go get my free breakfast. Life is GOOD people!

The Stitch Witches will take back the lead, and hold onto it. Never fear! We have so GOT this!

Well, it was tough getting in the swim yesterday with the major storms. I got in half a mile before my husband made me get out of the pool. I guess that means he cares and does not want me to get zapped. Will finish the swim today (Sunday). Go Tri-ceratops! Carla

Oh My Goodness...just got home from the gym and am sooooooooooooooo pooped!!
Was there early so I hoped on the treadmill and walked/ran 1.31 km. Quite happy with this as it used to take me 12 minutes to do 1km. Today in 12 min I went 1.31 and I know I could have ran more but had a big session coming up. Then it was off to spin class (11miles!) then I had some time to kill before aqua aerobics so I got in some lengths. After aqua because I didn't want to let my fellow witches down, I swam again (total 625m). 2 hours in total and I am shattered!!

  • WOW  I am so sore I took a ride on my bike for the first time in about 2 years and wow how out of shape. I rode for 20 minutes and only got 0.138 not even close to a mile. At this rate it will take me all month to reach a mile.

So, I'm not sure about this triathalon challenge.

Well, I'm going to go do something I know I can do WALK.

    see you later

    Zena

Are you sure you measured correctly? I use runkeeper to track my mileage for walking / biking etc. Only going .138 in 20 minutes does not seem right!

Tukquiere, (Bobbie) I use to have a walking/biking trail behind my old home. It was 5 miles long. And you could only walk it one way. So once you started it, you had to finish, or brave it going against traffic full of fast bikes and joggers. I was so scared of it. But I decided to chance it anyways. The fact that you had to finish it helped so much. Wheater you wanted to or not. You figure out that you do have it in you. Because otherwise you will the spending the night there. You cannot Not keep going. There is no choice. I say try it. You will also find out that you CAN do it, because there is no other choice. And then you will feel so good about finishing!!!

Stephanie, I totally forgot about the spinning class! Thanks so much. Since it's still raining here, I will put some bike miles that way :-D

    Go Steph! Well done!

I finished the running for the Stitch Witches this morning. Woot! 26.2 miles DONE! I went for a fast walk around downtown Walla Walla. Totally cute main street with lots of little shops to go check out later today, then we are heading to the fair and frontier days, so lots more walking for the day!

    Go STITCH WITCHES!!!!!

Oh, Steph, trust me... you don't have to push yourself so hard, I mean TWO CLASSES?!? No need to get in lengths. Your fellow Stitch Witches are doing enough without you shattering yourself. Take a day or two, then just do a leisurely swim, you know, 3 or 4 lengths, nothing more. Just keep it leisurely and relaxed! Please... please!! ha, ha, ha.

$h*t!! Darn it... I apologize for the language but oh my goodness!! I mean... congrats JJ... that's fantastic. I am excited to see how you do for the Individual Triathalon, and that you vary up that routine now. But, really?!? AHHHHHHH!!!

HONEY BADGERS... MOUNT UP!! We need to get our booties in gear if we are going to put the spell on these witches! GO HONEY BADGERS!!

(unfortunately ReNae is out of the area and we won't know her mileage until she returns... so, no idea how much she is doing except that her family is always super active when they go for the weekend, so I am crossing fingers and toes!)

Yes Steph... that is my dream... I may have to do a couple swimming sessions today. Though, I'm not sure that it matters that I get it done today... The swim mileage is so much lower than the rest. Honestly, I can't imagine getting in the bike miles in 30 days, let alone that our biking partners are doing it so quickly! And... 26.2 miles of running/walking... well JJ is just a freaking machine! I wouldn't have expected anyone would get that done in 4 days!! So... if I get in 3/4 of a mile today and 3/4 of a mile tomorrow - I'm good. Focus can then switch to getting more bike miles and run/walk miles. I am still just aiming to finish the miles for an IronWOMAN triathalon (or an IRONSKINNYCHIC level) by the end of the month -- but it got pushed to needing to try and finish it by Sept 17 because my gym is closing for a couple of weeks. I will be out of town Sept 18-21, gym is closed starting Sept 22 through Oct 2, reopens on Oct 3... designed like the European gyms. Fancy! However, the hours have changed to Winter Hours (yep, I live in Montana!) and the gym is now open Mon-Fri 5AM-10PM and Sat-Sun 7AM-9PM. That's LOTS more hours... used to close at 9 PM Fri and 6PM Sat/Sun, also opened at 9AM Sat/Sun. I'm happy about that. Anyway - I was just going to swim today, but I see that if I do at least a 0.1 mile run/walk that I have completed an Olympic level... so I gotta do at least that. And, since I hate the bike... I should at least do a few miles so that I keep working the total down. But, yeah, my dream would be that you don't get into a pool for laps for at least another 10 days!

I feel pretty good. I've finished the individual sprint and olympic levels, finished the swimming for ironman, and just 3miles (ish) to go for the ironman running - so I will finish that tomorrow, when I do my 5k run with my daughter.

It's just the biking that's breaking my bottom now..... I'm not one of nature's cyclists, and I'm finding it *really* hard.

Today, I did 13.5 miles on the static bike (45 minutes), 2.8 miles (30 minutes) on the elliptical and 0.4 swim. I also did a 4mile walk with the dogs this morning (60 minutes at 4mph). It's tricky fitting the swimming in with a workout, as the pool has an iffy timetable and adult swimming is often in peculiar timeslots. So I'm glad I've managed to get that done.

I'm so glad that I signed up for this. It's cool to see how much you can do when you put your mind to it. And it's great to see what everyone else is achieving too. Who says fat chicks can't run / swim / cycle, eh?

Off to tot up my calories now.... :-D

I've been watching you on the jabba thing too! :-) It's great fun. There are 4 or 5 of us who are in the mid / high 20s on there, I think? I love imagining me zapping jabba blubber away when I'm churning away on that elliptical! :-D

This has been fun because it's making me mix it up a bit. I've always avoided the bike, and I don't often swim. It's been great to try that out a bit.
    You are a beast! :-D

I'm aiming for a personalised set of horns. :-)

Apologizing to my teammates for my slow start - Yesterday we put up crown molding in 2 rooms and a hallway, and finished door/window trim, baseboards, and flooring in a bedroom so that we could move the exercise bike inside (it's in the garage surrounded by boxes right now). We worked for 10 hours and at the end of the night decided we were tired and we'd move the bike in today. When I got up this morning I wanted to go out to the garage, move some boxes, and get a few miles in....my husband took the only working garage key AND the automatic door opener with him to work, so I'm locked out! I'll have to wait til he gets home. But now I'm even more fired up and ready to go!
  • I was going to try to do all three parts of the triathlon (bike / walk / swim) but I decided that I am going to focus on my walking / running. I have the biking down (love cycling) but I have decided that trying to jump rope to count as swimming is going to kill me. In the two minutes I was out jumping rope just now I thought I was going to die! I use to jump rope for hours as a kid and now I can't go more than a minute or two. ugh!

I think I am going to make my dog my walking partner too. I walked this morning (just under a mile) and was bored and lonely. Bringing the dog with me always keeps it interesting and she walks at a faster pace than I do so I am always trying to keep up to her!

I am pooped! I couldn't go to the gym yesterday because I was busy with errands and the gym closed before I could get there..but I made up for it today! I was the bike for 2 hours! I made it almost 33 miles! I never really thought I would be able to make it that far, but I made it. I am tired now, but it feels great. I am planning on heading back again tomorrow. I will figure out how many miles I have to go, once I see where everyone else is! Hopefully you ladies can keep up...because I am on a roll!

It is absolutely amazing to see the amount of exercise that our group of "100 or more to lose" has completed! I am so proud of us all! So, when we all finish...are we going to keep going? I wonder if anyone will finish more than 1 full ironman? I am sure some of us will!

Have a great night, and I give you all permission to take the day off tomorrow. After all, it is a holiday! Don't worry about the gym or getting in miles, it is ok to have some off to relax.

All right all! I am checking in real quick from my sisters computer. The "coaches" for the triathalon "highly suggested" that since it is my first time I should go with the one event each day option. So I am. There are only 15 doing it that way. Day one was biking. We actually went 25.85 miles. Ugh the hills were killer!! They were all teasing me about my wicked witch of the west bike, my sister offered me her regular 12 speed bike but I wanted to go with my trusty friend the schwinn. There weren't laughing so much when I came in first out of the 15 of us racing today. I finished in 1 hour and fifty three minutes. I came in 3rd out of the 15 of us running today but I wont know my time until tomorrow morning. Tomorrow will be the swimming and I have heard that it is actually 1.2 miles. It is the one that I am most concerned about as we will be swimming in the ocean and I did go stick my feet in today. It is frickin' freezing. I am not a very fast swimmer anyway. The swimming tomorrow will be fun because everybody will be swimming together. Then those doing the whole thing will continue on with their biking and running but the 15 of us get to go by van to the cheering stations and then the finish line. I see everyone is really busting their buns getting all of the miles in. Great job!! If I am not totally dead after the swim tomorrow I might even get back on my bike and get a few more miles in. For now I am beat so I am heading to bed.

 Oh my gosh am I tired! My muscles are saying... :noway: what the heck are you doing?... The bike, well the bike is evil  and it's just taunting me! I am a shriveled up prune! My skin is dry... and what do I do? Have an appt with a friend to meet her at the gym tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM!! :ohwell: Crazy?!? Yeah, probably!

Slower day at the gym... did 3.5 miles on the bike, 1.3 miles jogging on the elliptical and a 1.0 mile swim. Then walked and shopped for the next several hours. I've been stretching and stretching since I got home and I still have 50 pushups to do before I can call it a night! Made good choices overall - food wise. Did allow myself a part of a candy bar... shouldn't and know that this will not help my sugar cravings for the next 3 weeks but I did it anyway. Didn't get fast food or pizza, didn't do the cheesy bread or oreo cremes... Nope, instead I kept walking and walking and walking. After a protein filled dinner, I did have a half candy bar. And, I drank 2 pops today... Could have been worse, but could have been better!

:flowerforyou: Lexie: you really are on a roll! Literally and figuratively! WOW!! That's a whole lot of miles! I am sooooo happy you are on my team! Love ya Lexie Badger!!

:flowerforyou: Staci: I have been thinking of you non-stop this weekend! I am glad to hear how your triathalon has been going! I am simply proud to know you and amazed at your unweilding strength! YOU ROCK!! Keep it up! Oh, and the freezing water?!? It actually will help you to swim faster... not just because you want to get out of the water, but because the cold temperature helps your body move more quickly. GOOD LUCK though - because swimming 1.2 miles straight (no breaks or holding on the edge) and in the ocean... tough work! You will do awesome though, I just know it!

Staci - that is amazing! You are kicking some butt and I am sure it feels great to be in the top of your group each time. Swimming in the ocean? i couldn't do it. I am soooo scared of sharks (and killer whales) I won't go into the ocean! I know it is crazy, because I grew up on the water every weekend fishing, but to this day, when I see a whale, my heart starts racing and I get really nervous! Have a great swim today, and you are doing GREAT!

I am heading back to the gym again today. Not sure how much I will do, but I know I will be working on the bike again! I am over half-way done, and I want to finish in the next couple of days...that way I don't have to sit on those darn things again for a long time! But, I am pretty suprised, but my butt hasn't really hurt that much...knock on wood!

Have a great day and I will check in with you all later!

If I didn't know better I would think one of you was plotting against me! Got to the gym tonight (with only swimming stuff) to discover they have decided to let the pool out for kiddie swimming lessons on a Monday evening and the rest of us can't use the pool during that time!! I won't be able to swim again until friday or saturday probably. Sorry my fellow witches!!
