Just got back from gym. Hard work today. Managed 12 miles on the bike. I had to take beta blockers last night (I take them for panic attack, so not daily) and just couldn't get my heart rate up so everything felt very sluggish.

Anyway, just 11.7 miles to get the itu triathlon. Can't believe I'm getting this done! It's kind of cool.

Mrs Razor, I don't know how you can stay on the bike that long! It bruises my bottom!

Stephaniebarber, if I were you, I'd keep your eye on those honey badgers... They're called 'Raatels' back in South Africa, and there's a tank named after them..... :-D

PS, you know what really freaks me out is the 50 miles of biking that have to be done *after* you reach the half. Eeeek!

I did it!!! I finished somewhere in the last 50 or so for the swimming (all 200 of us swam today so I don't know where I fit in with my group of 15). I am so tired. My tome for the swimming was 95 minutes. See I am not much of a swimmer. The water was cold but it wasn't freexing. I do know that I came in 4th for the first timers (my group of 15) but I don't know where I finished overall. My total combined time was 285 minutes so 4 hours and 45 minutes. The 2 pics are my number on my arm just before starting the bike leg on Saturday. And then me today after swimming when I was getting ready to get on the bus to the cheering station. They aren't great because I took them with my phone. I am sure my sister and my mom have some that are better. Silly me, I left the cameral at home and hubby didn't think to grab it either.

Well done staci! That's an amazing achievement.
  • Great Job Staci!:flowerforyou:

I think I am going to take this whole triathlon thing slow and steady. My foot has been bothering me for about a month now, mostly in my heel and in my Achilles. I have been walking to accommodate it which is not making my hip hurt! ugh. I bought new shoes for work because I am standing at least 6-8 hrs per day and the shoes seem to be helping but the shoes I am using for exercise do not have the same support in the heel. I may look into a cheap but decent pair of walking shoes to help with it. About a quarter mile into my walk tonight I could definitely feel the pain in my heel and wanted to quit but I made it 1.2 miles! Slow and Steady wins the race! I plan to finish my walking miles well before the end of the month but I may only average 1-2 miles for each walk (1 or 2 walks a day). We shall see!

ETA: I am glad this holiday weekend is over and you all will be returning to work and won't be able to log as many miles! LOL. Maybe it will give me a chance to catch up a little. We only get 3 holidays off a year so I worked today and I normally work at least one weekend day too so while you were all logging major miles I was working like normal!

Staci - I am giving you a standing ovation! Great job!!!! that is amazing what you accomplished this weekend.

I had another good day at the gym. I was only able to go for an hour and 40 minutes, but that is still really good! I actually took my ipad and did some research on the internet for school while I was biking. It actually made the time go by, but it was still hard. I used to think that the bike was easy and I didn't sweat enough. Well, I realized what I was doing wrong...I was at too low of a level! Today I was at a level of 9 or 10, and I got off the bike drenched in sweat! It sounds gross, but I was pretty impressed with how I looked.

I am sooo thankful for this challenge! I had lost my mojo at the gym and had stopped going. But, I am remember how great I feel and how happy it makes me! So, thank you everyone! Even you, you witches...you are making me push it at the gym like I did a couple of months ago. I forgot how great it makes me feel!

Alrighty, I have to finish up some stuff before heading to bed. Nighty nite!

Am I glutton for punishment or what. When I finally got home today I washed my car then decided to mow the lawn. My legs feel good, my but feels okay ( I wsn't sore after the biking but I think after the running and then the swimming it ws just more than my fanny could handle), my arms even feel okay. My armpits and my chest (like the muscles around my rib cage) are what is sore. I finished in 117th place overall. I am just so glad that I finished.

So, I am thinking that I will at least go for the next level as my goal for the personal triathalon. Swimming is my worst event but I am only what .1 mile away from reaching it? Surely I can do that. The rest of this week and next weekend it will be biking, biking, biking for me. I am hoping to do between 3 and 5 miles each work day and then get one or two longer rides in next weekend.

Have a great night all and the wombats may have been a little slow to start but don't count us out.

So today sadly for the little Badgers ... the wombats kinda well went a little rabid...

Cythnia - lmao!!!!1:laugh:   You are too funny! Once I finish up the biking, I am going to start doing the swim. That is actually what I am nervous for because I haven't swam laps in a really long time! I'm hoping that I can do it without looking like a crazy fool!

    Have a great tuesday everyone!

Did 18.5 miles on the bike today. 70 minutes in two sessions, with my weight training in between. My bottom hurts!

But the positive side: I have now finished the ITU and the half Ironman. *Does little happy dance* :-)

Updated my swimming from over the weekend - got 2.75 miles in. Love going to our friends lake house. I can swim and swim and swim, :). I have a friend who swims from his house to another friends house while we are there all the time - it's 8.9 miles! Never would think of doing that, lol.

A special shout out to Staci - You made us all proud this weekend! So impressive!! :flowerforyou:

BADGER BECKY – Nice going on that bike you Bad *kitten* Badger!! You are rocking it! Too bad about the gym closing – get out the jump rope and join me. That’s my plan for the swim portion of my individual triathalon. Ya – I haven’t done any yet, but you can motivate me to start jumping – Please!! Also nice going in the pool Sunday! You are a BEAUTIFUL BADGER!!

BADGER LEXIE– Way to kick butt on your bike – 33 miles!! WOOT WOOT We were definitely VICTORIOUS this weekend!!

As for me – well - just for the record I would have hit the 26.2 mile marker about ½ way up the mountain on Sunday. Having a hard time putting one foot in front of the other today. I’m just impressed with everyone’s activity over the weekend – even if you aren’t a Honey Badger.

    Non-Badger Kudos - - -
Greg – Measure Mister! It’s a great motivator when your girth gets smaller. Many doctors use waist measurements to determine overall health. Super job on your walks!
Cynthia – LMAO once again – love your wit and humor. Thanks for the shin pad compression tip – I think I”ll pick some up for DD. She suffers from shin splints. Should she wear them to bed or during sport activites? Good job on the swimming leg – you Wombats had a pretty good showing this weekend.
Knotty – Nice going with the 8+mile walk. Take it when you can get it. You accomplished a lot this weekend for the Witches.
Bobbie – You did some impressive biking already this month!! Nice job!!

Loving this challenge. Must jump rope tonight.

Renae - Wear them during the exercise.. helps give support to the muscles and the bones where the muscles attach. The pain is from actually tiny microfractures. If you don't stretch properly or strengthen the muscles and bones before you run/exercise you get the shin splints, so by using the compression pads it gives supports to those areas so while she trains she will build strength in those areas allowing her to heal and hopefully overcome the pain.

btw, whatever exercises she's doing. She should work on weight training and strengthening those areas as well as working out :)

I didn't make it to the gym yesterday :frown: and I felt like crap all night because of it. It just reminded me that my body does need to get in a good workout everyday. So, back to the gym I go today! If I have enough time and my legs will let me, I should be able to finish up the bike today....gooooooo Honey Badgers!!!!!!

To my fellow stitch witches, I'm sorry I haven't finished the swimming and you both have done yours even though you had so much mileage! The pool closing but a crimp in my plan of attack. I will be back in the pool tomorrow. To finish I need to do 90 lengths which seems impossible in one go but I will do my best!!!!

Bonnie- congrats on being the first biker to finish!!!

I have a question for all of the bikers. Are you riding an exercise bike at the gym or riding a bike outside? I keep checking back and I am like how are they getting so many miles in such a short amount of time?

Unfortunately, I can't get to the spreadsheet from my phone...it doesn't work as a link, so I am waiting until i get home to log the last 16 miles, although they've been done for a couple of hours. Bonnie, I tip my hat to you, though because there's no way I could've done 3 hrs straight!!! I can't believe that what took me all month to complete last month, I have done done in 7 days this month!

Staci: I haven ridden a real bike in almost 20 years and have visions of my whale self floundering on the ground when I fall, so I'm not ready for that yet...maybe next spring :-)
  • Sorry Bobbi I just can't except second so after 3 hours on the bike I'm Done!!!!

Go Bonnie GO! Best Biker Bonnie EVAH! Well done! GOOOOO STITCH WITCHES!!!!

Life happens. Its not like you just decided not to go to the pool and swim. We still love you!

Hey...question for the lovely and talented Miss Becky. Do you still want us to input our mileage if we already reached our goal for a particular event? So even though I finished my walking/running already, I input the miles I did today...yes? Or will that make more work for you or Cynthia?

Staci- I did about 90% on the stationary bike and 10% on a mountain bike.
Bobbie- don't call yourself a whale. You are a beautiful work in progress.

Ok thanks Bobbie and Bonnie. I was freaking out a little thinking how did I finish so well in the triathalon and yet I was being used to wipe the floor here but it must be because I have been riding on the trails by my house. I am actually planning on doing some riding on an exercise if the weather doesn't hold out for me. We are supposed to have nice weather at least through this weekend so I am going to do my best to get as many outside miles as I can. Congrats both of you on getting those miles done. I am proud of you.
