I set my activity level to "active" when I upped my calories even though the description of "lightly active" is more correct. Will have to get back on how this works out in a few more weeks. I do log my exercise AND eat most of my exercise calories. So far not gaining.

Yes, NW Indiana in a very rural area. Did you get snow yesterday? We did! Walked outside today though. it was a little breezy and cool but quite nice compared to the blowing snow yesterday! :frown:0 -

Oh my yes we did! I'm a Spring/Summer person so I was not thrilled. It was school dismissal time at its heaviest (no bus system so I pick up) and the kids were all so happy walking/running out! LOL! It's supposed to be 60 and sunny tomorrow though, how about you?. YAY!0 -

57 for a high tomorrow! should be decent walking weather. I might go for a walk/jog. I'm getting closer to jogging a 5K.. Would be nice to accomplish it before the outside weather disappears.0 -
Oh yes! Nicer weather...I can dream.
Well I'm still maintaining and I am eating 300+ more cals a day then I have in a LONGGGG time. I still chalk that up to success because its not a gain.0 -
So when I weighed in monday morning, I was up 6 lbs!!! So I used this week to get back on track and today I'm finally down again. 136.0, down 0.6 lbs since last week. Not much but when I was retaining so much water weight from the weekend, it took a bit for my body to let go of it0
-
Weighed in this morning at 138.6 (I should really change my WI day to Saturdays, I always seem to be the lightest!), but I am finding that even 100 calorie changes day to day, really effect my weight. I do weigh every day (but only record once a week) and in the past few days I have gone from 138.8, to 139.8, to today of 138.6. I never had this issue in the first 40lbs or so, and it is bugging the hell out of me! I almost feel like I have to eat the same meals every day to lose weight.
On a plus though, pasta had become my sort of...fear food. I unconsciously gave it up a few months ago - I think I must have associated it with weight gain when my EDnos was bad, but yesterday I had a healthy portion of whole wheat with my favourite homemade sauce and I still dropped weight! Feels bloody great to be slowly introducing foods back into my diet and gaining a healthier attitude, if only the last 8lbs would drop with my inhibitions, I'd be set LOL.0 -

I hear ya!! I have gone up and down for months and usually when i go down, its not back to where I was before so gradually going up :grumble:
I have increased my calories here to maint. and still I usually have a slight defecit, so I should be staying the same if nothing else. Just started TOM so hopefully by the end of the week I will see a downward trend.
Are you tracking everything?? What is sodium intake like? Are you drinking water??is your diary open, maybe theres something in there??
Are you working out, and if so do youeat your exercise cals???0 -
IT WORKS!!! IT WORKS!!! I am in disbelief but am proof UPPING CALS works for losing body fat!!!!!!! I was NOT expecting any loss today mind you.
In 1-2 weeks of doing this I have GAINED 3 lbs (its also PMS week soooo i could still be the same weight plus I ate a ton yesterday...diary is open) BUT!!!!!
I LOST 5.25" on my body and 1-3% BF% (last measured on 11/5). I use calipers and it went from 46mm-52mm range to a consistant 42mm today! Now my BF% might be higher if doing another method BUT by using the same tool it dropped.
I upped my cals from 1200 (I am 5'2" so its really 1100 to lose a lb a week) to 1500 and changed my goals to losing 1/2 lb a week or in MFP case 1520 is maintenance. When I used sites to get a range of maintenance cals it was from 1524-2100. So I started with 1500. I haven't changed much of anything with excercise if any just a tad bit more weightlifting. And yes I HAVE been eating excercise cals!!!! I have done a bit of 16/8 IF.
I am NOT boasting as that is against my being (religion) I am writing this because this is a support and encouragement site and I want to tell you it WORKS!!!0 -

Love to hear this!! I am starting into my second week of upping my calories by 100 and did lose the first week. We'll see what happens this week!0 -
I weighed in on Friday 164. Not good. But I have been drinking lots of water and it paid off today.. 162.. So drinking water is so important.......
So drink lots of water.....0 -
I'm still working off the 5lbs I gained last weekend. Hopefully tomorrow or the next day I'll be there..it's really discouraging!0

Yes that's me too.
If I could just choose the exact part of my body to lose it from and where to conserve it.......
I have been testing out Intermittent Fasting and it works for me. I maintain and never go beyond a plateau.
Do you think it's possible your body know's when it's hit the optimal weight and holds on tight so as not to drop below?0 -

I actually stayed at 138-140 for 6 months. I really buckled down in September and October and am seeing the weight go down again. I felt like my body wanted to adjust to the weight, almost as if it were finding it's new "normal" before I lost again. (I cooperated by not being diligent, I too was living as if that was my new normal ) We set our goals in an arbitrary manner.. I think I had to tune into what my body needed. In my case it was more protein, more sleep and weight training. Now to decide if my goal is going to be the best place for me. The questions to ask:
* Can I maintain the lifestyle required to stay this size?
* Is my body-image realistic?
* Am I as strong and fit as I would like to be and can I maintain this?
* Am I making myself miserable reaching for this goal or is this an enjoyable process?
* Is this process benefiting the people who I love?
Hmmm. Now you are really making me think!
I always do my best "thinking" out loud (or on the the keyboard!) HERE COMES MONDAY!! :drinker:0 -
I haven't been on the last couple of weeks due to gaining yet again, as my body got used to getting off of Atkins. I am happy to say though that as of today, I have seen my first loss !!!! I will post my official weight on Thursday!0

Good for you for doing so well. I still have a way to go and I am desperate to push on and get another 7lbs off for christmas I set myself a 2stone (28lbs challenge) with my friends at work and that what I have left to lose. I am going to be hitting the gym as often as I can and push it on. I have done quite well as it's only taken 7 weeks. I wish you luck with your final push for the finish line :O) x0

I just saw this group now, and it's probably too late, but I'll still follow all your progress and stuff! I've lost 10lbs, and I have another 10lbs to lose. I lost the first 10 in like three weeks, and the scales have not moved since, damn!! Best of luck to everyone with their weight loss and I can't wait to read through the groups' posts0

i do track everything as you can see in my diary (open). i am almost always way under on sodium. i am highly effected by sodium. the last couple days have been high (for me) on sodium and i can feel it in all my joints. i drink 4-8 bottles of water a day. i usually eat my exercise cals so i can eat more. if you look at my diary before 4pm est you will see i am over in a lot of stuff. i will exercise to get all those red numbers back in green
i have been getting hot flashes where my neck and face become very flush red and blotchy. someone said it could be hormonal? im not 30 yet and am currently on nuva ring for birth control. I have also been very stressed out with buying a brand new house, changing mortgage companies which is all about an hour away from where i am currently living. so you will see a lot of eating out in my diary. my exercising hasnt been great in the last 2 weeks since i feel like i am never home to do so. i dont think i have any appointments this week so i should be good.
im trying intermittent fasting again to see if that will kick start something.0 -

Good Morning Ladies! Happy Monday.
So I am looking for some advice/help. I looked back at my progress and when I startted here in feb. my avg weight from feb. to may was 159-162. Then from June to Nov my avg high is 168.8 (today) and avg low is about 164. I have consistently kept a defecit and done one and a half rounds of p90x.
About a month ago I decided to increase my gross calories to try to "reset" my metabolism. I increased to avg intake of about 2100. Even with this I am still maintaining a slight deficit from my Maintenance as calculated by MFP. My net intake is about 1700 and MFP estimates maintenance at 1840 with settings set at sedentary (which I did to be on the safe side, and I eat my exercise cals back). Since increasing cals I have consistently gained 2 pounds a week for the past 2 weeks, (although TOM started a couple days ago so I am hoping some of this is from that). Clothes are fitting about the same. Measurements are the same. BOdyfat as of last week actually came down .5%, however today I am due to recheck and that may be back up.
I did use a BMF and that calculated my avg daily burn at about 2500 so I am definatley still at a deficit.
Cant figure out what the heck is going on :noway:
Anyone have any thoughts???0 -

Yay, added them, thanks!
I'm 21, female, medium build. I'm 5'6" and lost the first 10lbs eating around 1200-1400 cals a day.
I live a very sedentary life and log every piece of exercise!
The last 10 lbs are killing me!!
I've been stuck at this weight for about a month.
I wanna hear from people who have upped their calories and lost?! I've upped my calories to about 1400 since yesterday, and really hope it makes me start losing again, as opposed to gaining! thanks guys x0 -

It's very interesting that you have added 4 lbs. without change to your clothes fitting and a DECREASE in body fat! Maybe get a new scale? So difficult to know. Perhaps you should work with a nutritionist (that comes recommended, apparently a few quacks out there ) I have learned so much @ http://body-improvements.com/ . A super good site that has a great scientific approach and keeps up with current trends. Best wishes on your journey. Enjoy the healthy road!0 -
Hoosier,
(love the screen name by the way). Thanks for the link, I will def. check it out!!!!
I will just keep plugging along! Going to try to change my macros a bit, maybe less fat, more protein?? I am set at 40/30/30 but maybe try 40/40/20....0 -
