Just recently I found out that on 11-11-11 a baby was born and they named the kid after a character from a video game (Skyrim).
It was for a freaking contest!!!!!!! The name itself is odd... Dovahkiin. The mother isn't even into gaming... not sure about the father and they have won FREE games for life from the game company.

I feel sorry for the kids & would sure 'nuff like to smack some peoples parents.
No surprise why some kids hate their parents.

I did go to school with a couple of girls with, what I think, are pretty names.

I also knew of a little girl living in my town who was called Tia-Maria... while it IS a very pretty name... who wants to be named after booze? :noway:

My son is Jameson- that is booze and a porn star! LOL But he wasn't actually named AFTER them, we just liked the name Jameson.

I work mainly with newborns, and see some really ridiculous names. Life, Charm, Precious (before the movie), Princess... the list goes on.

A friend of mine decided that if he ever had kids --- he was going to name one of them Indiana (his last name is Jones).

I recently worked with a Twinkle, she was Indian (the Asian kind not the native American kind) Husbands best friend called his daughter Guitar (that is a nickname she also has a full thai buddhist name but a per thai culture will for most of her life be referred to by the nickname)

Thai people give their kids kids really weird nickname, the odder the better. I know quite a few pigs (thai: moo), fatties (Oan), coca colas, bubblegums, the list is inifitate.

My son has a thai budhist name which most non thais would find odd but his name is very well received in thailand, he also has a nickname we use for day to day use, it's quite unusual for the UK but not really "out there", Sonny.

My husband is half Thai and his cousins (who live in Thailand) have the nicknames of Igloo and Wigwam. They are well into their adult lives, have professional jobs, and still go by those names.

I went to high school with a Candice (Candy) Valentine who's birthday was Feb 14th, and another girl named Honey Bear Hoover who looked like her name would suggest.

In college, I had a professor by the name of Harry Weiner. He was rumoured to have a son named D!ck, but we never could confirm it.

Then I have worked with a Wei Wrong (he usually was), a Long Dong and a D!ck Wead.

My last name is Green, and my joke growing up was that I was going to marry a Korean woman so that I could name my first child Gang.

When I worked in medical records in the Air Force, we saw all kinds of fun stuff. Being that my name is so old fashioned (yes, it really is Clarissa) I tend not to pay too much attention to such things.... however.

There was a set of twins named Ebony & Ivory - every time I pulled their records I had that song stuck in my head for DAYS. It was a living nightmare! *it's stuck there now boohiss!*

I think my favorite however, was the family that decided to start with the top of the military alphabet and work their way down
Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta & Echo. I hope they weren't planning on a number six, because that poor kid's name would have been Foxtrot!

I know a Sparkle, Alachapelle, ShaRaRa, Shaquan, Quondareius, Blaze, Atlanta, and I've come across many more. I'm all for unique names, but I can't do the ghetto thing, and nothing super outragious. My son's name is Mahkai pronounced (Ma-Kai) it's hawaiian, and means towards the ocean. I dnt like common names either, but u have to be reasonable. No Volcano Ash over here...lol

I know someone who named their baby King. I also work for a company that does business all over the world so I have co-workers in India and Manila. Princess is common but there is also a Cotton Candy (I can't remember her last name) and a Jiggy. Every single time I see Jiggy's name I start singing "gettin' jiggy with it." haha. There's also a Scooby. I also know a girl whose nickname is Jingle. There's one person whose last name is Bang-as. I can't think of any others at the moment.

My brother thinks I'm crazy because if I ever have a boy I want to name him Robert Henrique and call him Henri for short. The girls names I have picked out he can live with: Carolyn Grace (Grace or Gracie ) and Catherine Anne (Anne or Annie).

    This is epic!

My children's names are very common. Caitlyn & Christian.

A lot of people misspell Caitlyn's name, but I always make sure to spell it for them when they ask for her name. With Christian I always say "like the religion" and we're good to go.
