First off, I misread that at first and though it said she asked "How big of a prick you had".

Secondly, people do tend to judge by those things, because, let's be frank, they often have a certain personality type that are attracted to them. All of us have an ability called "pattern recognition", and that's often where judgements spring from. It's just more professional to hold your tongue in the workplace.

Does that mean everyone falls into that category? Definitely not, but you'd be surprised at how many just might.

We use to call minivan drivers "Crazy Minivan Drivers" because they were always all over the road. After having a toddler (but not a van), I now assume they are probably dealing with a screaming kid, or something being thrown at them.

If I see a BMW or sporty type vehicle around here, my first thought is "Guy must have got back from deployment."

My guess is that the waitress assumed I already knew the joke and she was merely joking with me, at Ieast I hope so :)

Definitely. Most likely a joke she thought she knew about. As a former waitress who relied on tips, I wouldn't dare make a comment that would offend a customer.

    I have a Diesel volvo. 72mpg.

That's awesome, I wish they had more cars in the US with Turbo dieseI

I, too, drive a Turbo diesel. 2011 VW Jetta TDI.

I call him Rolf. He's a happy German automobile.

I've had people tell me diesels are lame and slow. Not really sure why because Rolf hauls *kitten* AND gets good fuel economy.

I drive a 1994 Buick Regal, teal. He is the ugliest most ghettoriffic car ever but I ain't getting bent over and taking it dry from a car payment every month. He runs very well too.
Now that gets me looks and hella of alot of assumptions about the type of person I am lol.

Just read this string and thought - poor dude must drive a BMW! Shake it off. Not the last time it will happen. Enjoy your ride and don't worry about what others think.
  • I drive a lifted Jeep TJ that I never wash the mud off of and a rusted Chev half ton. Usually I get judged by dudes in jacked up trucks that think the jeep is a pavement princess that is just for show. For some reason they never want to take their pretty Dodges into the bush so that I can prove them wrong. Go figure.

I drove a Jeep Liberty for five years. I paid $8000 for it when it was worth around $16000 or more. I sold it a few months ago for $6000. So I drove a really cool vehicle for five years that really just cost me $2000 when all was said and done...nice! My husband bought a tiny little 1998 Chevy Metro that gets great gas mileage but just happens to be a bright teal green... not the best looking car in the world. We get totally different looks driving that car than I did in my green Jeep Liberty. And we paid $2K for the Metro, the same I spent on my Liberty to drive it for five years... crazy.
