Don't kid yourself... Canadian slaughterhouses are not better regulated. Animal cruelty is the norm, either side of the border.
The whole point I had though was to shed light on the fact that people are more concerned about how an animal is used, instead of their own personal treatment of actual human beings. Whatever, I'm going to bed now.
I feel like I am more capable of giving love to animals than humans because humans do terrible terrible thing to each other, and to animals, but animals have no voice. That is why I am in an animal career field. I don't think most people deserve kindness, me included. Not afraid to admit that.
watch animal planet for a day....animals do some terrible stuff to eachother too. just sayin. when people act all crazy they are called animals for a reason...
This is true, but we are supposedly "above" animals, so shouldn't we be more compassionate than animals for the most part, or at least strive to be? I mean, we are more intelligent than them...
I'm not saying everyone has to stop killing animals or whatever, but buying from a local farmer or even hunting your own helps to put an end to slaughterhouses, which are unnecessarily cruel to make a profit.0 -
GOD FORBID ME! I MESSED UP ON THE QUOTE FUNCTION! Practice what your preach on "judging people"Yes I am young. Innocent? Maybe not so much. I dealt with a lot of things and a lot of bad people in my life, and I have come to learn we all have our opinions, and no one is going to rain on my parade. I have my beliefs and I stick to my guns.
Bless your stubborn cotton socks

I just...love your replies!! Hilarious Thanks for the laugh!

Arguing about honey? Seriously?Considering bees are in serious trouble, vegans SHOULD BE SUPPORTING bee keepers, not criticizing them
Good point, I know there is a honey bee crisis, one of my points being we shouldn't be "farming" them for their honey and human consumption, but for population growth to release populations back into the wild, not keeping them in a enclosure their whole life.
Bee keeping is a pretty benign way of helping farmers increase the biodiversity of their farms etc... bees are not in any cage. They could up and leave (aka move) at any time.
Any honey productions I have seen have always been covered. But then again I am not a bee keeping expert.
Bee keepers often rent their hives to farms etc..0 -
I find it funny that we crawled to the top of the food chain to eat the very bottom.. Oh well different strokes for different folks. I am going back to my Steak0

Clever.
Let me elaborate actually. Humans kill mostly for greed. Animals kill for survival. Humans rape, and torture, and have a constant need for control and power over another.
again. watch animal planet. you might be surprised at what you see.0 -
Bees are not caged chickens or pinned cows or trapped fish. Whereas I see where most vegetarians and vegans are coming from and understand why they choose not to eat those including honey, the argument behind this thread is so misinformed that I doubt even bees care.0

This is a whole new level of ridiculous.0

ANY ONMIVORES IN THE HOUSE??!! HOLLA!!!

This is exactly why I don't understand people. "Bees don't Care" just like "fish don't care" they are still animals, no matter who big or how small!0 -

is this a confession? Anyway, animals rape all the time. Just go to a dog park.0 -

You do know, that animals eat other animals, yes?0 -
How about spreading a little kindness among people instead of saving it all for animals? Oh, and Merry Christmas! :flowerforyou:

When I was a kid we ate turkey on Thanksgiving, but no other meat the rest of the year. We called ourselves vegetarians...even tho maybe not strictly. Sometimes it just makes more sense for people to put themselves in a category instead of giving a huge explanation why they don't eat something. So if a "vegan" wants to eat honey, good for them, it's delicious.0

I'd prefer it if you don't put words in my mouth. I said bees wouldn't care about your argument because the 'honey is made from bees' doesn't make the tiniest sense in this universe and most of the alternative ones. I personally know beekeepers who LOVE their bees and take care of them more than they do to their own children.
I'd very much like it if you don't judge how much I care about animals or not since I can easily presume, just like how you presume about things and people throughout this thread, is that I care more than you do.0 -

you don't need to tell me what i need to see. i am actually educated in the animal sciences, me being a zoology major. ok. there are some animals with higher intelligence levels that have societies of hierarchy, and the occasional "dolphin rape", but you don't see animals killing millions of humans for "medicinal" purposes, and you don't see animals stabbing people for tvs at black friday. As silly and extreme as that was, my point being the human greed has taken over any moral and loving behavior for anything or anyone on this planet0 -
I am so trying to figure out what rape has to do with bees. I am scared of googling it.0
-
I hope I see you in hell!
Fantastic! I hear vegans are "allowed" to eat honey there!
:drinker:
Yay!!0 -
So while you're technically right, I think we could all do a little more worrying about what's being put into our own bodies and less about what others are doing. I applaud anyone who makes any effort whatsoever to consume less animal products, they're doing a good thing.
Well said!0 -

This whole thing has just turned into one big mess. I think people people are idiots and people think I am an idiot. I really DGAF what anyone really has to say at this point. i just know, if your a so called vegan, you won't eat honey. bottom line. thats how I feel.0
