I used to drink a lot of wine. I probably drank a bottle a week. It never affected my weight, just my sanity. I was extremely ill a few years ago and since then have no desire for wine. I drink champagne on on holidays when I am socializing. Very rarely. If I go to dinner, which was once in 5 months, I like a dirty martini. Over Xmas I bought a bottle of Baileys for friends, We had champagne and never got to the Baileys. I drank the entire bottle. So, I rarely drink like I use to. The drinking totally affects my weight. I can pass up food, not alcohol.0

Another tip is to pre-log and stick to what you logged. I also don't recommend weighing the very next day.0

Makes you accountable.0 -
i just turned 21 (dec 5) And I work at a bar, so drinking has been factoring into my calories recently. But I really only do straight shots of peach ciroc or whipped cream vodka. I avoid the mixed drinks/rum they seem like they have more calories, but I'm a dancer so when I'm at work I am active and moving pretty much the whole time so I don't worry about 3-5 shots.0

I drank regularly about 11 years ago, then just stopped. I'm just now starting to enjoy it every now and again. When I do, I don't worry about the calories.0

like a frat boy but I am trying to quit because it does mess up my goals0

No alcohol. One year on 1/31/12
Nice!0 -
Yes, I do enjoy some wine or champagne or a good margarita on occasion. I log it. I was able to stay within my calories at first, but I noticed having that glass of wine makes me want to munch a bit, so I will probably knock that off after 12/31 and save it for social occasions.
BTW, I tried the Skinny Girl Margaritas with a couple girlfriends recently... was extremely disappointed, we were adding Splenda to make them palatable and din't even get a buzz! (2 bottles between 3 chicks, shoulda felt goooood!!) I will go for the real thing next time, screw the skinny girls!! :drinker:0 -
I don't drink. I hate the taste of alcohol.0

As of Dec.16th I've been sober 20yrs & STILL LOVIN IT................ODAAT......:smokin: :smokin: :drinker: :glasses:0

I do not. Not for weight loss reasons, but I just hate the taste, smell, feeling, etc. - everything about it! It's surprisingly hard to find people that are like me and don't drink. And when I say I don't drink, that doesn't mean that I drink occasionally, I really do mean that I do not drink. At all.0

Yes I still drink, I enjoy an occasional glass of wine toward the end of the week or a cosmopolitan that I make diet friendly.0
-
Try the Jose Cuervo 100 calorie Margarita mix! It is awesome!0

I went on a diet, swore off drinking and heavy eating, and in 14 days I had lost exactly two weeks.

Hahaha
I drink merlot or cabernet, a small glass or two most nights. I always allow room for it in my daily cals since wine is just a fact of life. Every so often when really trying to break a plateau I'll drink mineral water with a splash of juice instead, it tastes great. Hard to hold onto an ice-cold glass in the winter time, though. Always an excuse, lol.0 -
Vodka every weekend. Keeps me out of the padded room0

Early and often. My diary is public.......I have a big *kitten* glass of wine or a cocktail......every day allmost. I measure and make it diet friendly, I would rather have the wine than any other treat! And I lost 2 lbs during xpchristmas week!0

I'm not planning to drink in 2012. Too many empty calories, and makes me feel like crap. I want to feel good!0

I drink socially, and yes I log it all. Luckily the calories aren't usually an issue though because when I drink the most I'm usually also dancing, which burns a ton of calories=) My drink of choice is gin (Tanqueray) & soda with a squeeze of lime. It took some getting used to (because soda is so bland) but now I prefer it over anything, partly because it keeps my calorie intake lower but also because I never get sick or a headache, because there isn't all the sugar like in other mixed drinks. If gin isn't available I'll take vodka, but I prefer gin because it is more flavorful. The lime helps with flavor a LOT, if lime isn't available lemon is acceptable.0

I'm a student, I feel as though it's my path of student life. However, I will only drink a few, I hate the feeling of being tipsy, let alone drunk! It also gives me a chance to laugh at the drunk people and take the mick (evil much?)
As long as you realize how much your drinking and what you need to do to to burn the calories you have consumed off then do it. Don't be a calorific bore... I know too many people which will literally write everything down to the last tincy bit and complain about it. Just have fun, then sort it out later.

I tend to have a few shots of whiskey every couple of weeks with my boyfriend and his roomies when we do drunken movie nights. I always go to the gym before one of those nights though! If I do mix my whiskey with anything, it's a diet soda. I do log it, if I'm sober enough. And I stay away from food when I'm drunk, especially pizza, cuz my drunken self control is NOT the best :P
you must be an anomaly, it's widely known that alcohol helps women keep from eating bad food and taking their clothes off.0 -
I'm all about my hot toddy when I get out of work! ChocoVine mixed with hot water...much ike my favorite Bailey's Irish ZCream with hot chocolate, but much fewer calories. I love beer in the summer and have switched to Bud Select 55 to cut calories. I do log everything I eat and drink, when I log, but I must admit at times when I'm with friends and we get a little crazy, I've lost count, so I don't bother logging and try to get back at it the next day...if I'm not hungover, which makes me want to eat everything in sight!0

I LOVE beer. And wine. And margaritas. I used to be soooo skinny in college and I drank like a fish.... ahhh... those were the days. We went out for a friends birthday a few weeks ago and everyone was ordering beer (it was 75 cent PBR night) and I ordered a vodka and diet coke. Everyone stared at me like I was an alien and it was YUCK. If we're going out, I'm getting my beer and enjoying it DAMMIT!0

but would like some ideas to be able to continue drinking but also lose weight.
Some ideas to lower the calories when you're drinking with friends: try wine with ice or maybe drink water between drinks.
I try to keep it for the weekend, but if its been a tough day I'll have one to unwind.0
