    Yep, happy Wednesday all!

My appointment with the allergy specialist was scheduled for February 19, 2014 (my family doctor req'd it in July~~omg)

Alas, a "last-minute" cancellation got me into allergy specialist TODAY.

And, in case you didn't think I REALLY WAS allergic to everything in nature - I'm here to confirm that, yes, in fact, I'm allergic to everything in nature....BRING ON THE CONCRETE, baby!

No "food" allergies - although the allergy specialist DID explain to me why I still have asthma symptoms when ingesting wine, beer and spirits. (He did test for "yeast" - I'm NOT allergic....so, bring on the BEER!)

    Animals - yep.
    Plants - yep.
    Trees - yep.

    Here is the EXACT list:

    guinea pigs
    mouse
    hamster
    western weed mix
    sagebruxh
    grass mix (#10)
    fescue
    timothy
    cat
    dog
    horse
    cow
    dandelion
    white ash
    western tree mix
    sheep wool
    mould mix
    alternaria
    poplar
    willow
    mugwort
    cedar
    birch

In other words - I'm STILL not going "hiking" anywhere, I STILL can't go where "pets" are and I'll stick to my indoor (gym) activities, thank you very much!

On the plus side I don't see chocolate or bacon on your list.....so it's all good. :drinker: :drinker:

What bkw said! Holy that is quite the list Beeps but good to know tight? I'm allergic to pet dander, thus far and sometimes have to use an inhaler if I'm not smart.

Been so crazy with work and home and a crazzy head cold! Did a fabulous treadmill interval session this morning with some awesome lifting session... I was feeling it! Great day and hope all of you had a great day as well!!

Morning Cool Kids! Still on vacation. I spent part of the day doing yard work which was my work out for the day. Today I walked about 3.4 miles. Off to the Mennonite Market to get some fruit and maybe for a ride to check out the scenery.

    Have a great day all!
  • Can I join, 47, my journey start May 2013 I was 217, I lost 22 before MFP but since MFP I lost another 15 so total of 37 down but somehow the scale stopped moving. Anyway trying to get my grove back.

    Hi everybody!

yes, thank GOODNESS neither chocolate or bacon is on my allergy list....heck, I do NOT have "food" allergies. Frankly, I think those would be tougher to cope with.

My allergies are totally well-controlled. I've had 'em since <8 years old - and, while some stuff HAS (apparently) come off my allergy list, some new stuff has shown up....which is EXACTLY why I had the testing done.

I want to "avoid" my allergy-triggers (because I get asthma attacks from the allergens, NOT eye/nose problems...) and, if I "don't know what they are", then how can I POSSIBLY "avoid them".

    INFORMATION IS POWER!

    Hi everyone!

Glad to find this group! I'm 46 ( I think, seems that after 40 all the birthdays run together!) and have decided that there's no better time than now to get in the best shape of my life. In terms of weight, I only need to shed 10 pounds or so. However, I definitely need to feel better about what I'm seeing in the mirror when the clothes come off!! I'm a morning person so today marks my 4th day of getting in a great workout before work. I'm looking forward to connecting with others as a means for accountability and motivation.

Hope everyone has a marvelous afternoon!

Went to a lovely ladies-lunch networking event. But, now I want to snooze (...and, I skipped the buns and I skipped dessert, so am unsure what has me "sleepy")?

Anyway, daughter has ice hockey game tonight - so no beddy-bye time for me.

And, for 3rd weekend in a row, we have out-of-town company coming all weekend.

    Boo.

I think the 80s were much more fun than the 70s.

I thought boys were "yucky" in the 70s. But then there was less drama in the 70s....hmmmmmm......

    Too funny....

Think y'all can appreciate this. So I'm at the gym today to work out with my trainer and we bump into one of my "gym buddies" who I regularly take classes with. She says "Oh, you work with a trainer too? No wonder you're so skinny!"

Yep, that's it, it has nothing to do with all the planning/prep/etc I put into my meals, nothing to do with the rest of my workouts.... it's that 30 minutes a week with the trainer that make all the difference. Yup, that's it......

All I could do was smile and go hit the weights. And yeah, I know, 30 minutes is a ridiculously short session, but it lets me get back to my desk in an hour.

    Hey kids!

RM - Ha! I get that too, 'who are you training with?' I say Raina; she is on me everyday to get up when that alarm goes off, she doesn't care if I am tired and don't feel like getting up, she is sometimes dragging me along on a run and she stares me down when I am doing my lifting routine, (probably because she thinks we should be running) They say, oh who's she? my answer, 'my dog!' lol

Beeps - maybe change in the weather? rainy, dreary days always makes me feel like I should be curled up in my comfy clothes. =) are you guests friends or family?

bkw - I agree, the 80's were alot more fun! shoulder pads and shutter shades =P

I got my lifting in this morning and a nice walk at lunch once the fog lifted!! holy it got quite chilly here last night. I am contemplating a run afterwork but that may be as far as it gets. =)

    Have an awesome night everyone!

Hello there!!!! Last two times I tried to log my food and get on here the site was on maintenance. :grumble: I do so much better when I log in my foods. One of two things happen: I either let go and eat too much and make poor choices or I worry that I am not eating enough...:noway: My husband was furloughed so he has been home since Tue. Good thing, he has been preparing dinner!! :drinker: I told him he might not be allowed to go back to work. I just wish he took the time to take care of himself, as in exercising...he frustrates me sooo much, he needs to lose weight and says at times he wants to lose but he doesn't do anything about it!!! :explode: Oh well...

Rm1000, does the kinesiotape work? I see a lot of people wearing it. My knees bother me from time to time and I've been thinking about giving it a try. My hips hurt sometimes too. I have arthritis in all my joints and a labral tear. Ouch!!!

Welcome to all the newcomers!! Let's support each other out!!!

Whatabroad, I just saw your ticker. 73lb loss, that is awesome!!!! :drinker: :drinker:

I am doing a challenge with my Zumba students, I titled it "DON'T FALL FOR IT" CHALLENGE Most people struggle during these last 3 mos of the year and gain weight so the goal is to at least maintain the weight. I will give them weekly exercise and nutrition challenges, they weigh in once a week before class. The winner will get free Zumba classes for 6 mos starting in Jan. I have one student and she wants to participate. She weighs 357lbs. She has come to my class twice and does really well. I am proud of her already! :drinker:

I did JM full frontal and backside workouts this morning. I also joined a 31 day butt lift challenge in Facebook so I did that this morning as well. We do 3 sets of three different exercises daily to lift and tone the bootay!! Bikram tomorrow morning and more bootie exercises.

    Have a great evening!!! :flowerforyou:

New to MFP and new to this group! Looking for support and encouragement from those who understand what it's like to be *gasp* near 50 and trying to lose weight. I've struggled with my weight my whole life. I was near my goal weight once after I had my youngest daughter (who is now 21). I'm doing no grain/no sugar plan and I really want to stick to it this time!!!

Turner, welcome!!! :drinker: When I joined this site back in 2008 my goal was to lose 10lbs  I ended up losing a little over 20. :noway: This site will be a great tool to help you maintain once you reach your goal. :flowerforyou:

Marylutz, welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! :drinker: You can do it! Consistency is the key!!!! What worked last time you were at your goal? You might want to try it again but might have to tweak it some. Unfortunately, the pounds don't slide off as easy anymore at our age. :grumble:

I did weight watchers last time, but it doesn't work for me now. I have slight hypothyroidism. I also quit drinking milk a few weeks ago and lost 6 lbs right away. I really think it's the sugar and grains that are so bad for me. I should say I'm doing low sugar and mostly no grain.

WhataBroad, sounds like you have an awesome trainer! ;)

Alf, I'm not sure on whether the kinesiotape actually works or not. My sciatica did feel better when I woke up this morning, now at the end of the day (I still have the tape on) I am not sure. But then again I usually get a little worn down by the end of the day anyway, so who knows. The physical therapists at the practice I go to seem to love the stuff, though.

Marylutz, I am not 100% familiar with weight watchers but I think you can still follow the program since you control what you eat, right? Are you taking meds for your thyroid? Cutting back on sugar and processed grains is a great idea for everyone. Good job there. I found this article interesting. http://thyroid.about.com/od/thyroidbasicsthyroid101/a/10-Things-To-Know-About-Thyroid-Disease-Foods-And-Drinks.htm
