    Good Afternoon.

I did my lifting and cardio this morning, but a phone call interrupted me about 2/3 of the way through the lifting, and I sat too long to start back. I did ride the bike to the river, but it is much cooler today, {a windy 67F with heavy cloud cover} so I didn't try to brave a swim.

    d6h6y1x24uuh.jpg

But I did find a violet blooming. Pretty cool for this time of year.

    kluhhhx3an0t.jpg

Today is Thursday, so here are the numbers for the week:

    22.0% Body Fat
    56.8% Body Water
    24.5 BMI
    175.6 Pounds

I'm getting closer to my goal weight again. My fool proof plan for weight gain {eat more, workout less} is paying off.

Hope everyone has a good day,

    Larro

Here is an old folks joke you guys might like.

A farmer stopped by the local mechanics shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn't do it while he waited, so he said he didn't live far and would just walk home.

On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem - how to carry his entire purchases home.

While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, 'Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane?'

The farmer said, 'Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can't carry this lot.'
The old lady suggested, 'Why don't you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?'

'Why thank you very much,' he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home. On the way he says 'Let's take my short cut and go down this alley. We'll be there in no time.'

The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, 'I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me.. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won't hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?'

The farmer said, 'Holy smokes lady! I'm carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?'

The old lady replied, 'Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I'll hold the chickens.
  • Hello all,

I'd like join in this conversation too! My qualifications: 41yrs old and trying to lose 30lbs.

A bit about me, 2 kids (5 & 7) and one husband. I live in Ottawa, Canada. Have been trying to lose weight, since I had my kids, with varying degrees of success. Feel like I have the food/diet part 85-90% down but the exercise part only seems to work when I hire a trainer. The weight only comes off when exercise is included in the mix (not by diet alone). Am working on motivating and developing my at-home/solo exercising habit AND, being at peace with the time it takes to reach my goals.

    Cheers!

Hey Mindful! Fellow 41 year old Canadian over here! I found Start! Walking at Home by Leslie Sansone on YouTube. It's 45 minutes, I do it in my basement 4 times a week. The weather has been outrageously cold for walking outside. New (better) elliptical is on the way. I watch TV shows on Netflix (22 minutes each).... so one show is a light elliptical and 2 shows is more intense.
  • So three weeks in..... 10 pounds and a full dress size..... so went dress shopping for upcoming cruise at my favorite store with a discount outlet.... $159 dress for $35..... in a full size smaller..... definitely a good day!

I didn't think it would ever get here! Made it to the gym this morning and did bike intervals. I forgot how tough they can be sometimes! Tomorrow I will be off to Rochester to see hubby. He continues to improve mentally, now to work on getting his physical strength back so that he can get home!!

Hope everyone has a great day and a wonderful weekend!

    Good Morning.

Kelly Sue, I got a big smile out of the big smile photo. Thanks.

I got my cardio in. I might have mentioned on here about the jumprope I bought recently. I paid a buck for it, but it is really old. Every few days it had been breaking at the handle. Well a few days ago it got too short for me to use, and I can't remember to buy more rope. So I have been tying it around my waist and doing virtual jumping using the handles. Because I'm not having to stop every few seconds because I'm tripping over the rope, I'm getting a much better workout. I do 72 seconds at the beginning and end of my workout, and my calves are so tight. At this point, I may not replace the rope, but just keep using the handles.

I'm thinking about an omelette for breakfast. About six days a week I have the same old flaxseed meal, cereal, granola, seeds, nuts, fruit, yogurt and protein powder, so it is good to have a treat once in a while. Plus I have ham, bacon and pork tenderloin to soup it up.

It's a rainy day here. I'm guessing there will be no chance for a bike ride.

Hope everyone has a good day,

    Larro

What's up all. I'm 45 & been at this for awhile...starting with a wedding in October, I kinda slacked off over the holidays...result: 8 lb gain. Starting Dec 26th I started the militant tracking & workouts, and am now down 10 lbs from there & .5 lb under goal (169.)

    TRACKING WORKS!

Chicken breast, ham and cheese omelette, green beans and garlic parm toast. Also blueberries, raspberries and strawberries with vanilla Greek yogurt and my latest smoothie. Not too bad.

    Happy Friday kids....

I tend to shy away when I am not myself.

We are expecting another storm tonight which will run into tomorrow. I do not believe in rushing time as it is fast enough without wishing, yet I am ready for winter to be over already. SHEESH!!!!!!

Welcome newbies. I hope you stick around and get some cool kid support.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

    Hey Kid's !
Dropped another pound. 3 pounds under my initial goal. :)
Managed to alter a few of my clothes last night. Nice to have a few more things that fit.

Took Josie to the Doctor's Wednesday. She is referring her to a counselor. She said we had been doing everything right so far. She's hoping a counselor will be able to teach Josie some coping skills. Tantrum's shouldn't last an hour long. Don't give in.
She had another hour long one today. I was returning an unwanted waffle iron we received for Christmas. The gifter couldn't be bothered to bring me the receipt after I asked several weeks ago. So I guess I'm just ungrateful. :( I only got $8.40 for it. So if anyone wants a fancy waffle maker Kohl's has that one on sale in store. It was on sale for $29.99 on their website.
I really dislike returning things. Stores always cheat you out of what was paid. My m.i.l. took back a shirt she had brought Josie and only received $3.00 with her gift receipt.

We are dog sitting again. All weekend and some next week while my neighbor has a mass removed.

    Anyway...
Larro - your the only person I know who eats green beans for breakfast. LOL. Funny joke !

Kelly Sue - I love that you are so upbeat with all the stress in your lives. I continue to pray for you. Love the picture.

Hello Newbies ! I'll check back later. I need a nap.

    Happy Friday Cool Kids!
Enjoying a busy day at work. Have a couple of meetings to plan & lead. Rode the bicycle in again this morning. So pretty. I saw a barn owl! Love those guys. Fridays are my decadent days -- B & I have manhattans and play cribbage. It's nice to have traditions.

Caramel, I hope you stay warm through the storm. Hope you're finding peace over there.
SkpTex, no need to get invited, just jump into the conversation!
Kate, wow! Under goal. Good thing you have altering skills. I never did learn to sew. I hope the counselor is a good fit for Josie.
Beeps, the IF routine sounds interesting. I can already feel my resistance when I think about trying it, so there must be something there for me to learn! Have fun lifting tomorrow.
Larro, the joke was pretty funny ! Love the pic of the bike at the river. Your approach the the jump rope was brilliant!
    Ruby! Hi!
KS, that pic is over the top cute. Happy Friday to you. So glad the gym is keeping you engaged!
Alf, I've done the ripped in 30 workouts a few times, and they are butt-kickers! Good work out!
    Canadian, how's the new eliptical?
Mindful, it sounds like you've got a great set up for working out at home!
Kim_m, it's so hard when you want to eat everything. Totally know that feeling. How are you doing?
riekjeb, how are things in the Netherlands?

Welcome to all the other newbies, and "hi" to the rest of you cool kids.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice here, so definitely some Buttercup time.

HEY HEY HEY!!! I did some strength trng this morning, legs/back/biceps, before work. Then I went to Bikram after work. It was brutal, I kicked my own butt. LOL But it felt soooo good!!! Weighing in tomorrow, not too sure I have but I feel pretty good and that is what counts in the end. Right???? Hmm LOL

KellySue, love the pic!! Have a great visit with your hubby. ((((HUGS))))

BOOM aka Beeps, when do you lift/workout? before or after your eating window? It's been a while since I've done IF but I do know that I enjoyed doing it. The only thing is that I always worried if I was doing the right thing exercising in the morning while fasting and not eat until much later. I guess I should just jumped right into it again and see how I feel, right? right.

    Caramel, what's wrong sweetie?

Larro, that looks yummy, yes, it does even the green beans. :)

Welcome newbies!!!! Post away!!!! Kate7294, my daughter's nickname is Jossie. :) Hang in there!!!

    Good night everyone!!!

Hey all made it through my first weekend day of IF. Thought I might cave around kids this morning but just had a cup of tea. Good thing too. Made cinnamon rolls last night and turns out (using recipe calculator thing) they are A LOT of calories (more than I guessed). Then a long round of snowshoeing and snow play with the boys - out for 2+ hours, was beautiful. Daughter has the flu :-(
Hope you all are enjoying the weekend and keeping moving.

Alf, i try to workout between 11 am and 12:30 pm....so, at the end of my 16-hour fasting period, I lift, and then I eat.

I think IF is soooo different for everyone! Try and move with your own natural rhythm. If you aren't hungry in the evenings, but love to eat at breakfast time and lunchtime, try to fast from 3:30 pm to 6:30 am, for eg. If lunchtime is rushed for you, why not only eat breakfast and supper....skip lunch altogether.

    :)

I skipped my cardio workout today. Just too much stuff goin' on.

I'll join the conversation. Let's see if I can remember to check in! I'm 41, mom of three, dog-mom of two, full-time worker who is (truly) gluten-sensitive. I don't mind eating healthy, but my motivation for exercise is nonexistant. So my weight is coming off more slowly than I'd like, and I am not as strong or fit as I'd like.

I can sure use some cheer-leaders for fitness. :)

I had to go in to work early this morning, so I did my AM cardio at 9:00PM tonight. I would have loved to take a day off, but spice cake.

It truly is harder after 40. I did this about 10 years ago (pre kids) and basically lost weight just by counting calories and halfheartedly exercising a few times a week. Lost 43 lbs in 6 months. But 3 kids and many bad habits later, and all of that weight is back. I have been trying for 2 years now, and it just doesn't "fall" off anymore! I exercise harder, and track every mouthful. I am loosing though, and I am determined to just keep going down, no mater how slowly, and not give up.

I'd like to join! I am 43 with three kiddles and a supportive (new) husband. I am a lifelong runner who has added weight lifting during the last year. For the last few years, I've trained for a half marathon at some point during the year and have ended up with back issues/frustrated. This year, I've decided to get back to basics. I'm running one 5K per quarter, focusing on whittling down my time. I'm putting in some more time in the gymto strengthen my core and target certain muscles (glutes? just learning this) so my hips, knees and back aren't taking all the stress.

I'm not super-careful about what I eat, but I am trying to drop about 20 pounds to make the running easier on my body. Not sure if I'll succeed - never been very good with dieting. I'm happy to receive - and give! - support ...
