Good morning everyone,
Thanks so much for the encouraging words yesterday. My brain is not quite so messed up this morning. For breakfast this a.m. I had 3/4 c. cottage cheese and 1 tsp cod liver oil. Now I'm at work and drinking coffee.
Julie - I'll explain advanced hygiene later today, but it is more than flossing...lol
Cindy - thanks for the metaphor. You really are a cheerleader.
I'll post some more tonight!
Love to you all,
Lucy
P.S. Welcome Kath!!! Glad to have you!0 -
GOOOOD MORNING HEETERS!!!
And Welcome Kath!! Hopefully we can get you motivated and jump-started again! Are you sure 1200 Calories is enough? Exercise Calories aside...1200 is a number I've mostly heard as a Maintenance number. Try eating a little more for a few days or a week and see if that *kick-starts* you again. Sometimes all our bodies need is a little "change-up" to freak it out and get it moving again!
Way to go Bebe for getting that walk in this morning. I assume you took DBF with you this morning? Thank you for the kind words about being an *expert* but I'm no where near. And how good are you to take your measurements and steer clear of the scale? Awesome!!
Edit: Hey Lucy, you and I were posting at the same time. Glad to see you are feeling better about things today. Great breakfast and a great new start! You can do it! Thanks for remembering about Advanced Hygiene. I really am curious! And the flossing thing really was just me being silly! :bigsmile: :bigsmile:
Wednesday Weigh In (Kath - we all do our own thing here - I just happen to weigh on Wednesday)...reports a maintain for me. Seems as though I'm starting a pattern and I'm starting to wonder about it. Lose 2, maintain for a week or 2, then lose 1-2 more. Interesting. Not necessarily in a good way, just interesting...:ohwell: :ohwell:
I've got just enough time to get on my Healthy Me Machine so I better get to it.
A WEIGH WE GO WEDNESDAY!! Set the pace for the rest of them month TODAY! We can DO IT!

Good Morning Heeters!!!! Happy April......Welcome Kathy!!!!
Good to see Cindy, Bebe, Julie, and all those that follow.
Kathy, Julie is right, you state you are on a 1,200 calorie diet, incorporating exercise into your day, you need to make sure you are eating your exercise caloires. For example if you are on a 1,200 calorie diet and you earned 400 calories, then you have only 800 calories for the day, it is too low and your body then goes into the starvation mode, or begins holding rather than burning the stored fat because it thinks it won't get enough. You will also lose muscle mass, as when their is a depletion in calories and no fat stored to burn, you will begin to burn muscle. One should never go below the 1,200 calories, so I would try to increase my calorie count. Hope this helps. The mindset I had to change was remember this: YOU HAVE TO EAT TO LOSE
Okay everyone here is a Quote for today to go along with our Motivational Point Challenge Julie has introduced us all to.

To all of our seasoned sisters of HEET.....many of you have been asking about Wonderland (Ilene), and I emailed her wishing her well and letting her know we were all missing her.
She had to have emergency surgery, they found a cyst on her ovary and it was causing excessive bleeding. She is recovering and will be back with us soon. I encourage each of you to send her your own personal :flowerforyou: Get Well Wishes:flowerforyou: , we all need pick-me-ups, and please keep her in your thoughts and prayers til she can return and continue her journey, thank you all from the bottom of my heart
~~~waving to Ilene and sending healing thoughts your way~~~~~
Debbie0 -
Debbie, please send me a PM with her email address...
At work and can't post but I'll be back...0 -
Julie I don't have Wonderlands personal email address. I had to do some back tracking to locate her.
For all of you wanting to send her well-wishes, go to our old thread, on page 3. Go down and click on her screen name, this will take you to her profile where her personal email address is not listed, but you can send her a message through this site. I gave her my personal email address there so if she emails me here at home I will be sure to share it with you. I am certain she would appreciate hearing from you and could use all our support at this time. If you haven't please add her to your friends list!!!
Thank you all in advance, bbl Debbie0 -
Good morning heeters. Happy April everyone! I hope everyone has something planned today that will make you feel proud. Eat those veggies, drink that water and get moving. I feel better today. I managed to eek out a powerwalk last night. I was a bit slower ,2 miles in 37 minutes. I wil do my watp workout today and power walk tonight. I turn 36 on the 19th of this month. I am soo glad I'm on this healthy lifestyle plan now. I would freak completely out turning 36 and being sedatary and not doing anything about my weight. I am not someone who enjoys birthdays. I am going to be 36 but I feel 20. I just can't wrap my head around that. :happy: Debbie that cheesecake sounds delish! Bebe-way to go on your AM walk! Lucy, I'm soo glad you feel better today. Julie- You Rock! I am so proud of you doing your exercise machine. :flowerforyou: Welcome aboard Kathy. I would aso chime in and say that if your working out and burning alot of calories each day you need to eat more than 1,200 calories. I have alot of weight to lose so I thought I could get away with eating 1,200 calories and burning 600-800 calories a day from exercise. My body shut down. I got sick and did not lose any weight. I eat 1,600-1,700 calories a day now and burn 600-800 calories a day through exercise and I'm losing now. I in no way eat all my exercise calories. Try bumping up your calories for a week and see what happens. Have a great day Heeters!!!!! Cindy0
Debbie, thanks for the info. Thought you may have contacted her direct. I'll go back and find her old post.
Still no time to post but I found this article and thought it was great information. I'll *see* you all this afternoon!
***5 Foods That Take Years off Your Skin
1. Legumes, avocados, soybeans, nuts, and egg yolks: These contain biotin, and a lack of this chemical can lead to dry skin and brittle hair and nails.
2. Salmon: The carotenoid that gives this fish its pink color, astaxanthin, also improves your skin’s elasticity. And it’s full of the good fat -- DHA-omega-3 -- that makes your skin and hair look younger and healthier.
3. Green tea: Its polyphenols act to protect you against sun damage and help thicken your epidermis, your body’s primary barrier to the outside world.
4. Pomegranates: In addition to thickening your epidermis and helping to produce more collagen and elastin (the stuff that keeps your skin firm and springy), pomegranates contain antioxidants that seem to accelerate wound healing.
5. Tomatoes: The nutrients in tomatoes reduce the chance you’ll get a sunburn (but you still have to use an SPF 50 and 4-star titanium dioxide or zinc oxide sunscreen!). It may be due to their lycopene content, but we really don’t know the active ingredient. So if there’s a choice between a lycopene supplement and the real tomato, choose the product from the vine. ***
Here's to all the beautiful HEETers! :flowerforyou:0 -
Welllll....April Fool's day everyone....guess I'm the biggest of them all. Had a difficult time learning about this new thread and all but finally found you all. Hooray and thank you, Jesus!
This is a new month.... welcome Kath. I am new to this group but like me, you will soon find how informational and informative they all can be. Such a great bunch of gals we call sisters as we all encourage one another on our new healthy lifestyle.
I have not been on a few days but this a new month and a new thread. So here we go.
I have already been to the gym this morning and did my 1 hour of exercise, strength and cardio. Had a healthy snack upon arrival at home and done my Bible study session for today. Hooray! God hears my prayers.
Cindy, can you tell me again how I can change my calorie tracking on my food diary. Thank you.
Debbie, keep on singing as I love listening to your music. And, Julie, I loved your April fool's day song. That was so cute. Girls, you are keeping me young and I love it!!!!
Question, if my recipe doesn't have the dietary breakdown, how can I go about in figuring it out? Any helpers?
I have a lot on my mind in trying to figure everything out I don't know if I can keep up with you all. But will surely do my best to stay healthy eating and exercising and do what I can if that is all right with ya'll.
Cindy, it has warmed a bit here, but not much. I froze yesterday as I wasn't paying attention to weather report and dressed for spring/summer but it was still freezing cold. Yikes! Needed a heavier jacket.
Lucy, I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I can understand the stress with school and finals. My daughter will be having her finals end of the month early May and I am giving her lots of space to study.
Toni, as happy as I am that you have learned what is or might be causing your headaches, I will continue to pray that there will be a solution soon in how to get rid of it. That sounds very serious with the bulging of the discs. Oh my.
Good news for me. I measured and was down 3 inches total but that is not enough and will continue to strive for more inches lost in the month of April. Must keep my eyes focused on the goal here. January will be coming all too soon.
Ya'll have a great healthy day and may you have a great start for the month of April. Thank you ya'll for being such great sistas.:laugh: :happy:0 -
Hey HEETers!
I shouldn't be doing this right now but just had to share...Boss DW has been in a pretty good mood lately. We've got some pretty good things happening. They are either gonna make us - or break us, for the most part - but they are looking promising so far. Anyway, today he's in one of his best moods and he has also been on his own health kick. When he gets ON IT, he's really on it and he watches what I eat like a hawk. I call him my Personal Food Police. :bigsmile: He and I both weigh in on Wednesday so we always share and talk about what we are doing exercise and eating wise....So I was just out back smoking and he came out of the garage where his office is. He says to me..."I think I'm gonna get some bicycles for us to keep here at the office. That way if we want to run down the street for a cup of coffee or a coke or just take a ride to the beach for 20 minutes or so to clear our heads, we can." Now how cool is that??? :bigsmile: :bigsmile:
I've mentioned before that this office is a house in a residential neighborhood. We are about 4 blocks off the ocean in a quaint little Seaside Village. Sometimes I walk around the block or across the street to the bank or down the street to the attorney but I'd LOVE a bicycle here to take a quick spin. Heck, I'd even buy my own if he'll let me use it!
How Cool!
Later HEETers. I'm buried in Spreadsheet and Data Hell right now and will post again as soon as I can...
Julie
~~Waving at Hazel...you and I were posting at the same time~~0 -
Hazel, Great job on your workout! If you go to your home on this site and click goals you can set your calories by choosing custom. Have a great day! Julie, Thats sooo cool! I want to buy a bike ASAP. Where you work sounds beautiful. Cindy0
-
Hey Julie that's awesome news, glad your boss is in on making the most of his life and eating and exercising. Now just get the rest of the office gang involved. My niece and her office staff signed up on the Biggest Loser Pound for Pound Challenge. For every pound they lose, a pound of food goes to the local food banks to help families. I think it is a great cause and added incentive to do all one can for the good of others. If your boss would ever go for that maybe we Heeters could be included.
Nonetheless having the bicycles at the work place for breaks and a little recreation is an awesome idea.
Lucy glad you are feeling a bit more optimistic. Its a new month and the game is on everyone, we can do this.....when the going gets tough, we're here, when you feel the need to cave to a crave STOP, ask yourself 'do I really want that? What's my better choice, or got get busy, take a walk, run an errand, give yourself 20 minutes and see if the craving passes....re-access.....listen to your body, are you hungry or bored, hungry or depressed, if your not hungry.....change your mindset....You are worth it.....Nothing Taste As Good As Thin Feels!!!!! Remember that.
bbl Debbie0 -
Hi everyone, was reading an article in my prevention magazine and wanted to share this important info with you.
It is recommended that 2 hours before your workout drink 15 oz. of water.**(note tip below to make sure you are drinking enough*) Nearly every cell in our bodies is composed of water, without water they do not function properly during exercise. It was proven in research done at California State University that without the water you'll fatigue faster and your workout will feel tougher than it should. In the studies it revealed that those for instance doing strength training completed 3-5 fewer sets as they were dehydrated. **Dehydration decreases the body's levels of anabolic hormore that are necessary for strong muscles.
:drinker: :drinker: ON YOUR WORKOUT DAYS:drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
Tip***drink an oz. of water for every 10 lbs. you are in body weight, example 15 oz. of water if you weigh 150 lb.*** Then keep sipping during and after your session to replenish what you lose through sweat.
:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
Going for my walk, bbl for dinner and more of YOU!!!
"Don't Sacrifice, Satisfy"
u ladies move so fast,i cant hardly read all the post im at wrk and sneaking to c whats up.will be back after wrk
bebe0 -
Hi Heeters, hope your all having a good day. Have to go back and read all your post. Just getting in from my walk and am in so much pain. I believe I am living proof that when you don't drink enough water before a workout or sipping during a workout that you are going to pay for it. I began my pace a bit too fast before allowing my muscles to stretch and warm up, secondly I don't feel I had enough water in my body as I was only 10 minutes into the walk and was in pain. Middle way through I was in so much pain I didn't know if I would make it back, I did a few stretches and talked my way through and pushed through the pain. My calves are still burning and I've been home about 20 mins.
With that said, I will make sure from here on out, I have my water in and some with me, and stretch before hand, and start with a leisure pace and build momentum and then cool down.
It sure is easy to get so comfortable in our routines that we just take off and go and if we forget one little thing, then another and another, before we know it what was enjoyable and something we looked forward to becomes something we dread.
So one of life's lessons learned today.....and I will not let that happen again!!!! heeters promise :sad: :sad:
bbl Debbie0 -
I hope everyone is having a great day! Debbie, I'm sorry about your pain. Yep, you learned a valuable lesson. Water is not an option ladies. It's a must!!!! Drink, drink,drink that water! I feel much better today. I did my 3 mile watp and burned 420 calories. I will also do my 2 mile power walk later on tonight. I'm soo glad I'm back in the groove. Whats everyone having for dinner? We're having whole wheat spaghetti w/ homemade pasta sauce and turkey meatballs. I try to only make pasta once a month. Julie, I don't think I'm going to participate in the points system. I can't get the spreadsheet to work . I have so much to do with homeschooling my daughter and girl scouts that I just cant keep track on my own. I guess I'm spread a bit too thin right now. :ohwell: I will however keep up with the Heeters group and my healthy lifestyle. Ok guys, I must go do laundry now. :grumble: I'll talk to eveyone later. Cindy0
Hey HEETers...made it home but we have severe weather right now. Thunderstorms and lightning. Already experiencing Florida Flicker and Flash so I may get cut off...
Debbie, that recipe sounds awesome. I may make that when company gets here in a couple weeks. I'm gonna copy and paste it then print it off. It reminds me of "Push Ups" (Orange Creme Sickles) that I used to get from the Ice Cream Truck!
Hazel...you are doing fine with all the computer technology! You found us and you're posting. Did Cindy's explanation help you with your calories? If not, ask it again. We'll help you figure it out.
HEETErs, I never did tell you...I actually DOUBLED my time on the Elliptical this morning! (20 minutes :blushing: :blushing: ) I just found a groove and kept going. I didn't even care if I was late to the office (even though I wasn't) because I was in The Zone! It's like my body finally said, "Oh Well, get used to it and go with the flow." I earned an extra 120 calories this morning. Gonna need it tonight. It's steak night. I always try to eat my heaviest meal right after weigh in so I have the rest of the week to work it off. On the bright side, I bought some fresh beets and am going to roast them. Never eaten fresh beets before but DH loves them and they are supposed to be super healthy so I'm gonna give them a try. I'll let you know what I think.
Bebe, I know what you mean about all the posts...
***Note to everyone*** When I'm at the office I can read the posts and keep up with what's going on but I usually don't have time to post due to my limited schedule right now. In addition, due to that limited schedule I don't want to get caught typing away in the forum. I don't want them to think I have too much time on my hands because I certainly don't! They are stretching me to the brink as it is. So, I'm always keeping up with what's going on because I keep the board minimized on my desktop, just can't post too often. :sad:
Well, think I'm gonna get off here for a bit. Seems our storm has blown over for the moment but I'm not sure what's behind it. Looks pretty bright outside though so I think the coast might be clear. I'm gonna read up on my Elliptical and try to figure out what some of the displays mean. There's all kinds of things on it that I have no idea what they represent! LOL!
Julie
Edit...Oh my word...we've already moved on to the second page. There were some posts while I was posting. DH came home and interrupted me for a bit...gonna go back and read...:bigsmile:0 -
Ooooh! (((Debbie)))...so sorry about the calves! As much as I hate to say it, you may have to take a day or two off. Muscle pain from exercise is due to small tears in the muscle tissue that is a result of a gas given off when our body starts using more oxygen. I can't think of the gas right now but I swear it's on the tip of my tongue. Basically we are burning oxygen faster than our body can get rid of the waste by-products and in an effort to escape it starts tearing holes in the muscles. Creepy, huh? You should let your muscles heal or face a lengthier recover time. :flowerforyou:
Cindy, no sweat on the points. Really. I'm not sure how dedicated I'm going to be to it but it's something that is there for me, and anybody else who wants acces to it, to use a reference. Being a SAHM (Hazel - that's Stay At Home Mom) and home schooling is probably pretty time consuming. And you're on the right track anyway. Just keep it in mind if you need a jumpstart some day! :bigsmile:
Edit again...Cindy, have to tell you...I used that Greek Spaghetti Sauce and stuffed it in to red peppers the other night for dinner. I didn't even add rice to it which is something I typically do. I just stuffed the peppers. They were SOO good. I've got 1 or 2 left and gonna freeze them for lunches. YUMMY!!
Ok, now i'm offf...
Julie0 -
Julie- Thanks for understanding. Those peppers sound yummo! I hope your storms don't get too bad. Have a great afternoon. :flowerforyou: Cindy0
