Hiya.. I have to restock my fridge/pantry with good foods. I'm wondering what are the staple healthy things that you always buy or must always have in your fridge/pantry to keep you on track. :) Thanks.

Mine are eggs, skimmed milk, flavoured water and oranges (which I have to go out tomorrow to buy more of, because I more often than not eat four per day LOL)

I'm on the greek yogurt bandwagon - fage is the brand i love. Fruits and veggies of course. Nuts so i can satisfy a need for a little crunch in my oatmeal etc...lots of leafy greens, crab and shrimp, laughing cow cheese (processed junk but fills the need for cheese - i'm addicted to cheese lol), string cheese, hot sauce (for zip), hummus, corn tortillas (i can have two for 110 cals when i need a breadlike item), protien drinks (i find it hard to get in enough protien) and bars for when i don't have time for bfast (i do premier drinks from costco and think thin bars from trader joe's, both lower in sugar and fat than most), oatmeal (cook a pot and you'll have breakfast for the next few days), beans, chicken, egg beaters for scrambles....yep, that's the gist.

If you like cheese, may I suggest Ile De France Brie Bites. You can find them in the Safeway deli department where they have the imported cheeses. They come in individual little containers and are real mini-bries with the "brie rind" and all. They are delish and only 70 calories. A tad expensive though. I think they were about $5.99 for a package of 5. Well worth it for a very special weekly treat!

I'm not an food elitist, I swear! I live in SF so It's easier to be picky with where my food comes from. I try to source as many of my produce from local growers/farmer's markets. All the chicken/turkey /eggs I try try try to get from free range sources. Same with fish, I won't buy tilapia from Thailand/china because of the way it is farmed and the impacts on the ecosystem. I sound preachy...I'm really not sorry!!

    ground chicken breast
    chicken breast
    ground turkey breast
    eggs
tilapia when I can find it from farmed from US or S. America
tuna in water when I can find it responsibly caught
    nf cottage cheese
    unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    rolled oats
    cinnamon
    hot sauce
    broccoli/asparagus/green beans depending on season
    natural almond or peanut butter
    avocado
    spagetti squash

Maple Buckwheat cereal by Arrowhead Mills
Udi's Gluten-Free multi grain Chia bred
    Sweet Potatoes
    Greek Yogurt
    Cashews
    Jif Natural peanut butter

ETA: Vanilla Almond milk either by Silk or Almond Breeze

I would recommend that you switch to a peanut butter that has only one ingredient: peanuts. Jif Natural, while supposedly healthier then normal hydrogenated and heavily salted peanut spreads, still contains extra sugar and salt. Real peanut butters such as Adams or the kind that you get from the grinder at Whole Foods, contain only one ingredient, roasted peanuts, with no extra sodium or pointless sugar.

Spinach, liquid egg whites, apples, walnuts, Newman's Own black bean and corn salsa, veggie burgers, chobani yogurt, frozen fruit mixes, frozen edamame, balsamic vinaigrette, veggies like bell peppers, beets, and mushrooms, quinoa (pre-rinsed), and chicken stock to cook the quinoa in :)

Liquid egg whites are great for protein, but they have almost no nutritional value beyond that. You may as well just be drinking protein powder.
Whole eggs, however, contain tons of vitamins and nutrients and are extremely healthy. The yolk is where the developing fetus gets all of its nutrition.
It has also been shown that eating 2-3 whole eggs a day helps improve fat loss and muscle gain as well as help develop healthy hormone and nutrient levels in the body.
The idea that the fat in eggs will harm you has been dis-proven many times. This myth needs to die.
