Is that a woman? Seriously she looks more like a man with boobs to me
HERE we go AGAIN.... ::facepalm::0 -
Well why would someone showing off a clothed picture say "I lost two pounds since June" in the first place? There's a difference between "I gained muscle mass, look at my naked body" and "I lost weight, look how my clothes fit now".
I took the February photo in the purple shirt just to prove that point. People were saying, "You can see your progress fully clothed or via your ticker" and that there's no need for anyone to wear a bikini. According to the scale, my ticker or how I looked fully clothed, I HAD no progress. In less fabric... lots of progress.
Like it or not, looks do matter. And sometimes, the scale doesn't move, but the body does change. That only shows up in photos. Keep posting those "after" bikini pics Lorina! Results like yours keep this site interesting and beautiful!0 -
::facepalm:: I wasn't going to comment but...
I think people who put so much effort in to lose weight have every right to show progress however they like, bikini or clothed. The human body is the human body no matter how big or small.
Now personally I would not go as far as this picture however with this said this woman wanted this, she achieved it so high five and good for her, should just prove that getting the body you personally want is possible.

Whoa! This woman obviously worked her tail off to achieve her goal of looking like this. My hat is off to anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort to achieve their goals.0 -

Agreed! And, what if this woman was an MFP'er? Then, would it be ok to say she looked like a man? I think not. So, same rules apply. Courtesy, people.0 -

btw she does look a little manly...no matter how hard she worked. She knew what she was getting into and i'm sure she's proud of how she looks. If she doesn't care why should you?0 -

There are a few people on this site who people could say the same about, but from what I've seen, most people don't say garbage like that, because we are all human with human feelings, same as this girl who clearly worked her tail off to get to this point. smh...
ETA: I care, because I have a heart and soul and KNOW what it takes to get there.0 -
I've never seen a photo of a person proudly displaying themselves fully dressed to show off the results of hours and hours of weights and special protein diets.
That's because it doesn't really show when you're fully dressed.
"Woo! Look at me! I lost TWO POUNDS since last June! All my clothes fit approximately the same as they did then!"
"I'm the same exact weight as I was in July, but I've completely reshaped my waist, thighs and bum."
If someone is here asking for advice on how to look better in a bathing suit or when having special nakey time with her husband, I think I might have a LITTLE bit more credibility as the girl who lost her cellulite than the girl who looks the same fully clothed.
Yeah, I'm proud as hell of the changes I've made to my body and mind over the past 15 months I've been here. But I don't share my photos to brag. Well, not JUST to brag. I share them to motivate others. If I can do it - someone who was never athletic and was always the last person picked in gym class, and never had any interest in fitness at all until I turned 38 - then anyone can.
Never in a million years did you inspire me to write my "vain" post. I have seen several of your posts. You have worked hard and it shows. There is nothing wrong with being proud of hard work. If I had my choice of sporting bulging, vein-y muscles or having the body I have now, guess which I would choose. I still think people are taking this personally in a negative way. I am certainly not complimenting vanity, but in no way am I calling vain people bad. PS When you start posting shaven/false booberized/oiled up/bulging/vein-y, touched up photos, I may call you vain, but I will still admire your accomplishments as a person not commercially subsidized to create an abnormal body image. (Okay, abnormal; meaning "not the norm" for those of you chomping at the bit to accuse me of some other imagined, horrific offense.) Good luck and keep on...... :happy:0 -

hmm, not sure where or when I said I took it personal. I'm pretty sure all I did was answer your question, but ok... Have a good night. :flowerforyou:0 -
I think as long as it is classy it is okay . A well sculpted body is also like a form of art .0

If she/he thinks she looks like a man then that's their thought on it...In fact if this was any other site (Youtube for example) you'd get a lot worst comments than that.
btw she does look a little manly...no matter how hard she worked. She knew what she was getting into and i'm sure she's proud of how she looks. If she doesn't care why should you?
She absolutely has a right to voice her opinions - and other people are perfectly within their rights to call her out on it. Besides, MFP isn't YouTube, it's a social networking and support site, so one would think that negative opinions of people's body types wouldn't be voiced.
There's also a lot of double standards on MFP - if someone had put up a photo of an obese woman and another poster had commented on how that wasn't attractive to them, people get up in arms because that's "fat bashing". But somehow, negative comments about thin or fit people is okay. Just because you can say it, doesn't mean you should.0 -
I like to see progress pics so I have an idea of where I am or where I can go. But I dobt like it when theres no warning. I dont want people around me thinking Im looking at porn lol
Keep posting but warn us if ur going to show your jiggly bits!0 -
If you are doing it just for looks then you are wrong. To make yourself feel better about yourself or to push yourself to another level should be the reason. Me I push myself harder then a lot of people, for example here is a daily routine challenge.
Bike 2 miles
60 areobic style workout
Bike 2 miles to work
Bike 2 miles to pool during lunch
swim 500 meters
Bike 2 miles back to work
Go the longer way home 3.5 miles yep biking
Get home go run 2.5 miles
20 minutes of yoga
I am also getting ready for a olympic tri-athlon but that is what I am talking about set goals and push yourself to excel it will make you happy.0 -

So this is kind of long, but it's a note I posted on Facebook back in August when my SIL decided to make rude comments about the picture of a well toned woman I put up as inspiration.
Oh my gosh, that girl is so...
skinny. Not offended? What if I had said, "Oh my gosh, that girl is so fat!" Well that wouldn't have been polite at all. It's offensive to comment on a woman's weight. Unless of course, she's skinnier than we are. I don't know how many times I've complained to Katie about how skinny she is and how unfair it is. But guess what she clued me in on. Just because a girl is skinny, doesn't mean she feels 100% confident in her body. Everybody has insecurities. Just because we think they don't need to change anything, doesn't mean they feel the same way. If it's not polite to make snide comments on one body type, why is it okay for others. Which leads me to my second point.
Women have muscles. If you can move any of your limbs, you're included in that. Some women have bigger muscles than others. Does that make them manly? No, it makes them STRONG. In high school, I got called "Man Legs" or "She-Hulk Legs". At first, it made me feel really insecure. I stopped going to the weight room and hated wearing shorts or skirts. And then I realized something: it wasn't meant as an insult(usually). These guys were impressed by my muscles. And that's the way it should be. Muscles shouldn't be seen as gross or masculine. They should be seen as beautiful. They allow your body to move. They burn more calories than your fat does and look better while doing it. So next time you see a woman that looks "manly", just remember, she can probably kick your butt.0 -
If someone puts the time and effort it takes to get into shape, by all means they should post photos of themselves.0
-
for the first time in my life, i feel comfortable in small amounts of clothing.
i worked really hard. so, i'm going to show off a little.0 -
if its lingerie i dont like it. If its a bikini then yay! All MFP bikini babes please send me a friend request!0
-
i say, if you got it & you worked hard for it... show it off! as long as it's tastefully done... nothing wrong w/a bikini pic showing off your progress... go for it ladies :drinker:0
-
Who cares? If you dont like it, dont look.... its 2012!! now back to more important threads0
-
Jeez... if you don't wanna see it, don't look. This is like all those threads that b*tch about what OTHER PEOPLE are eating. Why do you care? God.
I personally like looking at people's nearly naked progress pictures. Keep 'em coming!
i like the photos, even the ones of larger bodies because it's inspiring to see other people's progress0 -
ok wth? how do people join a weight-loss fitness website, and then get offended when people... um, show off their weight-loss? I don't get it..... O_o .... and then how do the mods *not* recognize them as trolling?
This exactly! My God I don't get it. Maybe jealousy that people have reached their goals after a ton of hard work...and they haven't?0 -
I think it's great. People should be proud of what they've accomplished. It can go too far, but that's their choice and I'm okay with it.0
-
This crap is exactly why I'm usually off the boards. Hard to believe the majority of people on here are supposedly adults. Really? Sounds like some of you need a "time out"0
-
Anyone on here, man or woman, who has pictures posted half naked has worked their butt off to get where they are. I would bet that most of them didn't have the courage to take their shirt off or wear a bikini a year ago. Anyone who is criticizing is obviously jealous of others success.
