I kinda wanna know why this is topic is directed towards girls only?

Because only the women on MFP complain that other women need to be covered up and they never say the same thing about the men. Them they like to drool over. It's ridiculous and they get catered to.

Ug why do women need to tear other women down at all? Isn't life hard enough without beating up on EACH OTHER? Especially on such a sensitive subject like weight loss. Jesus Christ. Maybe this is why people have a hard time taking women seriously, because they participate in crap like bashing other women FOR RETARDED REASONS.

I think any woman who manages to smirk in the faces of those who perpetuate self hate, negative body images and low self esteem should be applauded. If you've got it, show it off. At any size, at any age. :)

Well said. And if you like to flaunt it more than this site will allow, PM me for some great sites you can post.

To answer the OP question: if the picture is of themselves, I think they are generally proud of themselves and their progress. Alternatively, they may be doing so as incentive to carry on, or make further progress.

If the picture is not of themselves, I think they are looking for some inspiration. If the photo is of a female, it is someone they would like to emulate. If it is of a male, it could be a man that they find attractive and desirable.

If the issue is the revealing nature of the picture, the reality is the more revealing the photo, the more titillating it is. Pretty simple really.

What is your opinion on girls that take pictures of themselves showing off or flaunting "their goods "in their bras, or arms covering what should be x rated? And post it on here? How much skin is acceptable to show in a photo? (and I'm not just talking about the bikini pics). Isn't this a fitness site?? Well I'm on here to get help with weight loss and fitness. I really don't need to see pic that you might be on a porn site. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great if a girl has enough confidence to show themselves off like that, but can't we keep it tasteful? I'm sure she's posting the pictures to get attention from guys or maybe even other girls... Anyways I think its extremely distasteful and should not be allowed

    Wahhhhhhhhh

Complaints like these are bringing America down.

I haven't figured out a way for me to take before and after pics of my insides, sooooo...in order for me to get a visual of my progress, I'm going to have to take pics of the outside of my body...just like everyone else.

Also, I have realized now, in my old age, that all those times that I thought I was sooo fat and unsightly before, that I actually looked good and wish I looked that way now. I was stuck on a pant size and a number on a scale telling me that I was horrible obese and my body was hiddeous. If I had this outlet 10 years ago, it may have helped my confidence and body image to hear what other people actually thought of what my body looked like instead of what I was making up in my own head. It has been my experience as I've gotten older that people (especially men) are not nearly as judgemental as I thought. So, in summation...posting pics is GOOD. Get over it and don't look if you don't like it. There are lots of other threads going you can be a part of.

Showing your body off in an outfit that looks nice is one thing. It is a completely different thing to be pretty much naked in a picture. I am very conservative and modest in my dress. I do not think it is appropriate to show everyone what only your husband should be seeing. You can show your progress without being naked. I have the same opinion for men. I do not want to see naked men even if they are sexy because I have a responsibility to keep my thoughts and body pure for my husband.

Ok so I have to post to this thread because when I posted on my blog I added pics of me to show the difference in my body and yes they are of me completely naked, but my girlie parts are covered and I only did this because I wanted to show my body getting slimmer. My body is disgusting right now so I am not trying to be that girl who is trying to flaunt anything, just showing my progress!
