Paragraphs are your friend. You'd probably get more readers if you didn't post a wall of text.

    LMAO!

The last two years the Paleo diet was ranked dead last on diets evaluated based on factors including health, weight-loss and ease of following.

This was a great article - puts a lot of the current diets out there in prospective. I think I'll go for the Dash eating before I go for Paleo

    that article is bs.

Probably because of the lack of "heart healthy whole grains"...if too many people adopted paleo what would the USDA and Pharma industries do?

As I re-read my post, I still don't see where most people got that I am saying choose Paleo over ANY and EVERY diet out there. I suggest you all go back and read it again dammit!!! lol

You didn't and you specifically said that. Some people just like to post on these threads to cause drama.

Try grabbing a piece of sugar cane and consume it,

Have had it in Hawaii and the Philippines. You can't consume it.

The next stop for you sir, should be a tanning bed.
Why on earth would he want to increase his risk of skin cancer?

Except the article is merely opinion. How about an article that rates diets by which is most efficient at weight loss, using evidence from proper controlled studies? Like...this one:

I thought the forum didn't allow my-diet-is-better-than-your-diet threads? [Feel free to substitute "lifestyle change" for diet, if you prefer.]

Lol, who cares about weight loss, aren't we after fat loss? Initial greater weight loss in low carb diets is due to increased water loss. How many of those studies held protein constant and showed differences in fat loss?, how many relied on self reported food intakes?

Now take a look at tightly controlled studies and what do we find?

I don't get the paleo ridicule. I don't see much different between it and the lifestyle changes many advocate for here, including some of those that ridicule paleo.

    * Eat clean, unprocessed foods. Isn't that what many on here subscribe to? More veggies, protein, and healthy fats and limited fruits.
    * Limit carbs. Sure, not everybody does that but even many of those who don't admit that some of us with metabolic issues related to blood sugar/insulin issues do better with less grain-based carbs and grains really aren't necessary in order to replenish glycogen stores. You can do this through the carbs in vegetables and fruits.
    * Eliminate dairy. Well, this is done less often but some people do have lactose and other issues making dairy harder for them to digest. While it's easier to get some nutrients if you eat dairy, it isn't an absolutely necessary thing to drink/eat as long as you compensate by eating other foods that replace those nutrients.
    * Lift something heavy and put it down. Yup, that's promoted here a lot.
    * HIIT/Intervals/Fartlek. Yup, also promoted here a lot.
    * Minimize stress in your life. Yup, that, too.

I don't follow paleo as I like my dairy too much and, while I do limit grains, I do eat them once in smaller portions. But I don't understand what the backlash is against it. If it works for someone, great.

While some people may be more strict with their intake, I would imagine many paleo eaters do like some of us who splurge with foods outside our normal eating plan, i.e. wedding or birthday cake, a glass of wine, etc. Maybe not all paleo eaters but it's a matter of finding something that works for you.

Anyway, great job, OP. And there is no doubt that what you are doing is far more healthy and sustainable than HCG.

Everyone on here who is dissing the Paleo diet will more than likely sub comb to a Western disease. Props to the OP for putting this out there! I'm trying to eat more Paleo myself.

My new rule of thumb: don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food.

I seem to remember that, in another thread, I said I really wasn't interested in your opinion. That stands. You can regurgitate as many 'honest 'guv, it's like what I say it is' blogs as you wish and I'll *still* be totally uninterested in. Frankly, I'll take the reviews of scientific studies done by people qualified to do so (y'know...like doctors), rather than one guy and his blog who appears to think that lifting heavy things is super impressing.

Now what *does* interest me is the rather lovely pot of oxtail I have bubbling away. Would you like some? C'mon...just a wee taste....

Between you and me, the fact that you keep following me around threads to delight me with your wisdom, is starting to make me think that you may just fancy me a tad. Have a thing for English women perhaps? Sorry to disappoint though, unlike the pea-hen I don't tend to go for the 'showier' of the male species. Though I'm sure you're very nice.

Glad you read it, which cited over many more per reviewed studies then the site you linked to. Again I only asked a simple question, how many of the studies on the site you linked to held protein constant and calories constant? Should people be focused on weight loss or fat loss?

And yes i'd like some ox tail, i've had some killer ox tail over rice at a Jamaican restaurant. But guess you won't be serving it that way since rice is evil

Rice isn't evil. Rice suits some people, but not me. Personally I wouldn't ever eat it because it's imported and the way I eat also has ethical foundations....I like to keep it simple, seasonal and in as close a radius to my abode as I can.

The oxtail I'll be serving with a nice home-grown celariac mash and a heap of buttered curly kale as befits my 'fad' diet.

What is your braising liquid, I assume that's how you're cooking it?

It's been slow-cooked for the last 12 hours in beef stock....which I made from left-over beef forerib bones, slow cooked for 24hrs with bay leaves, water, turnip, parsnip, black pepper corns and some Cornish sea salt.

I'm going to be having a glass of Perry with it....which one of my friends produces from the pears in my orchard.

    Slainte!

Hahahaha!! Some of us are crazy, honest to goodness!!:) I think all she came on here to say, is that you don't need to take weird hormones or pills and starve to lose weight. You can do that just fine making healthier choices, whatever way you go about that is your choice. I thought she was trying to be encouraging, not push paleo.:)
