Dave - Leave Marla alone. That's right. I'm a mind reader.

Marla - *hugs* You are raising your children similar to how I was raised. The tennis court + my dad = me sobbing...I used to be overly sensitive, but he was realistic & I couldn't take the heat! I thank him for it now. It forms character, I believe. Not everyone can be #1, ya know? Anyways, I'm proud of Sarah & proud of her mama! I hope when she comes home, you can celebrate accordingly!

You're a riot-- yes, you can read minds.

I'm the gentle one, believe me-- Papa Bear is the tough guy.

And I agree-- it forms character. Hers is golden.

    Thanks for the kind words.

    Good evening black team..

Marla - I'm sorry Sarah didn't win. Hope she learns from the experience, but isn't too hard on herself. I'm probably just still in awe of what she has achieved.

Andrew - hope you don't get the kids cold. I just started feeling like I might live today..

Bobbi - don't worry, you'll be back in no time, just listen to your body - the last thing you need is an injury

Hi Dave - lurking out there..

I did get my ride in today (after teaching DD to ride a bike - again..) and managed an energetic 60 minutes of convincing Will (new horse) that we were not, in fact, on a race track. Burned off some good calories on that one.

Tomorrow I try swimming again - assuming I can breathe correctly.

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day.. :drinker: :drinker:

Please disregard my thunderous thighs in my bike picture. I am just so happy to have finally found a bike that fits me perfectly! I rode 6 miles today and could have kept going but hubby was tired. In case you didn't know, there is a thread floating around with my bicycle venting on it somewhere. My first attempt with a walmart bike..not pretty.

So I tried riding bike today for the first time in 11 years. (half my life ago) and it was awful. But I think that's because the bike I was riding was one of those really old types and it was way too big (which doesn't make sense, because i'm not exactly short... 5'7") and it hurt and it was one of those bikes with the really skinny tires and I kept thinking I was going to fall and it just plain sucked. By the time I got done my hands hurt so bad I could hardly move them from the handles and supporting my upper body weigh on them. AHHHH

BUT I did get a good work out in. BF's mom has a mountain bike that just needs a link taken out of the chain so it doesn't pop off every 5 minutes and my brothers are both bike wizards so I might take it over there and have them fix it. That way I can ride it whenever I want.

Marla - Sorry Sarah didn't win, but I hope shes not too hard on herself. I've never been golfing myself so I'm especially impressed with how good she is! She'll get 1st some day and it'll be a party! :flowerforyou:

Being hard on herself isn't the end of the world. She's learning to accurately give herself credit where it's due, and knock herself around where it's due. I have no problems with it--

Thanks for the kind words, everyone-- she had a good trip. I'll be glad to have her home tomorrow!

I'm starting to get really jealous of all these people biking. Haven't been on one since I was 7 or 8, and I am scared to death I'll fall and hurt myself. It looks like so much fun, though!

It's awesome Shuntae - don't fear the bike (but definitely wear a helmut - re: other post). you really do pick right up on it. May want to see if you can rent a bike somewhere first if you don't have one, so you can see what kind of bike you would like. We have hybrids so we can do road biking as well as some trails.

Lynnie - way to go on the bike - looks like a nice one..

Vanessa - sounds like you need a different bike - they make some nice mountain bikes and hybrids with shock absorption to make it less jarring.

I bought a bike with the brand name Giant. Funny cause it is a tiny bike to fit me. The wheels are awesomely big and I feel like a big kid on it. I can keep up with the family. Renting one is a good idea. I regretted my mountain bike choice immediately. It really hurt me in my lady business.
My Giant Cypress is a hybrid.

Marla, tough break for your daughter. I give her all the credit in the world. I love to golf but I do not have anywhere near that kind of skill or ability to keep my head in the game under pressure.

Lynnie, happy you found a bike.

Andrew, sneezes in the face. Ugh! Good thing we love them and they are cute.

Shuntae- if you like a pain in the backside, bike! LOL. I can't get past the rear end pain that the seat dishes out to keep up with biking. Plus, cars coming toward me freak me out. Biking isn't for everybody and I'm one of those peps would can do without it.

Funny you say it's a tiny bike... the first thing I thought when I saw your picture was that the bike was HUGE. LOL. Guess that says something about just how tiny miss photogenic really is!

It's a 16 or 17 inch frame, the tires are just huge! Easier for me to keep up with the boys now. Actually I beat the hubby tonight lol

    Hey all.

My energy is completely sapped. Bike ride, walk and 30 Day Shred lvl 2 today with TOM and i'm just... exhausted. I'll be lucky if I have enough energy to get the laundry out of the dryer.

So night! Talk to you all tomorrow!

Edit: I forgot to add cleaned every room in the house and did a load of laundry. No wonder I'm so damn tired.

Evening all! Well it finally stopped raining and the sun came out bright at 7:00 pm. Can you believe it? So I donned on my sweats and tennis shoes and hit the pavement and walked and walked. Then got the pups out and walked and walked some more! Told hubby it was time to get off his butt and get going! Got my daughter in the bath while her grandma watched her and headed out the door. Felt sooo much better afterwards of course! And did 4 loads of laundry and that's about it for today.
I bought a brand new bike about 6 years ago. Rode it once about 2 minutes and gave up. Now you see why I didn't lose weight back then. The seat killed my butt. My grandpa likes to buy old bikes and fix em up and he has a wonderful cushy seat that he said I can get from him but he doesn't know where it is. So that isn't too good for me.
Gotta pick up my pace walking and then my next step is RUNNING! I wanna be like you all! You guys motivate me to wanna be better! Thanks for being a great team and wonderful teammates!!!

Good morning everyone! Sorry I havent checked in for a couple days, we've been crazy-busy around here!
I hope everyone had a lovely extended weekend and holiday. We had a cookout here, but I stuck to a turkey burger and salad (although I did have a 1/2 cup of potato salad) and munched on fruit and veggies.
Marla-your daughter is simply lovely! What a beautiful girl! And you are a wonderful mother. I know you will be so happy to see her today. Tell her the Black Team said congratulations and she is admired by us!
Well, have a great day everyone. Time to start my day!

I started walking. Then I used "telephone poles". I would run from one pole to the next. Then walk to the next pole. Run, walk. Then I decided to run to two poles. Eventually I could run from one stop sign to the other. Unfortunately I can't do much more than 2 miles and I do have to still have some walking breaks in there, but they get fewer and shorter each day. Now that I have my bike I am going to be always in a debate with myself, bike or run..hmmmmm
