Do you ever lie to your food log ??

What would the point of logging your food if your going to purposly leave food off or lie about the amount u ate? I would never think to not put in a glass of wine or beer because they are a higher calorie thing...not logging a piece of gum or a cough drop is one thing, but not logging a couple/few hundred calories worth of stuff is a huge deal.0

NO, I log everything even if I want to lie I don't as there is no point as I would be only lying to myself and my MFP friends. In fact I wanted to cheat tonight because I didn't want MFP to tell me I was under 1200 calories for the day but couldn't find anything I had missed which meant I got the red type saying I was to low for calories today0

Why lie to yourself? I log everything. It's not frail humanity. It's denial and lack of accountability. What are you afraid of? Make peace with food. It's not the enemy.
I totally agree.. that said, I have those awful days... like the day my cat died I couldn't get up and make dinner so I laid in bed and ate skinny cow ice cream cones and other processed junk... I really didn't feel like seeing the high calorie number so I didn't log it right away... but the next day I went back and put everything in... so, though I don't lie to my food log (because it's not really the log, it's YOURSELF you are lying to) ...sometimes I do write it into "food notes" so I remember everything later when I properly log it....
I guess in a way I am not being honest with myself either.... its just easier to know I ate 500 too many calories a day or two later, when I am already well on my way to making up for it.... and now that I am admitting it and talking about it, I realize how silly it is, and am going to break the habit... logging everything all the time is the only way to truly know your (good and bad) habits and precise calorie counts, and as dr. phil says, you cannot change what you don't acknowledge... so acknowledge everything! ...100% accountability will be a reward in itself!! ...x)0 -
If I wasn't going to keep an accurate log, there would be no point in keeping a log at all...0

Sometimes I tell it that dress doesn't make it look fat.0

OK.. I will 'fess up that I sometimes shave a few cals by not logging all my food...Since I consider myself near normal, I think that some of my fellow members do the same thing...Did you log that extra glass of white wine or a beer ?? Did you say "forget about that microwave popcorn"...I do that and I confess my transgression...I think you should too if you want to get it off your chest and move on in our near normal lives..It's up to you...I know that some people would find it *unthinkable", but others, like me might find it a sign of our human frailty..
What is your take on it ??? Are you going to come clean if you do it ??? or do you think it is a cardinal sin..

The trouble with doing that is you will be unable to look back and see why there is a lack of weightloss if that should occur.0 -
Sometimes I think about it, but then I realize that Im just cheating myself. If I have a bad day, I log it, feel bad, and then try to do better the next day. A food log is a tool to help you recognize what and how often you are eating. If you lie then whats the point?
Someone made a comment about lying about 67 calories to make their daily goal.....why wouldn't they just be honest and then exercise that 67 calories away? IDK personally I don't think you should feel bad about what you're eating and about how much (or little) you are exercising. The log should be used for learning and motivation. Its impossible to be perfect everyday; we're only human.0 -
Dear diary....you suck...you tell me I need to eat 600 more calories when dammmm I just can't freakin do it. So I hope you don't mind a couple little white lies today that ohhhhh look, they add up to 601 calories. OOOOOps I seem to have gone over by 1 calorie. Damm calculator. No, I never lie to it.0

I give myself an insignificant cheat. I drink a lot of coffee. God I love coffee. My love of coffee shot up even higher when I got my Keurig. (seriously, if I could make love to a machine, I would make sweet sweet love to my Keurig.) Coffee is pretty much calorie free and a tablespoon if creamer is only like 15 calories. So even if I have 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day, we're only talking like 50 calories.0
