Nope, I never intentionally lie or omit. I'm sure I make mistakes and forget stuff sometimes, though.0

I use the notes section to record tidbits that might be helpful if I'm going back to see how I ate when I lost or didn't lose weight, but that are too tedius or difficult to get into the journal. For example: Drank a pot of green tea and stayed full, or it was really a bikini martini not a lychee martini, but I couldn't find it in the database, or lettuce and tomato on that sandwich, or didn't measure the pasta - took a best guess.... But, other than that, I try to be super honest. I can't beleive how big the database is. It's easy to be honest.0

I lie all the time...I don't lie about the food I eat but I do lie about the exercise I do and don't log ....I don't depend upon the exercise to make me lose weight..I am true blue to logging all my caloric intake...Why fool yourself? I use the exercise as ''gravy''....It is the portion control that helps you lose weight..and the choice of foods you eat....The exercise to me just makes me feel stronger and able to be more agile0

I don't get it. WHY would you lie to yourself? You are accountable to yourself only, no one else. It is not like MFP have food police that will come lock you up for going over your calories. Geez! If shaving calories off your food log makes you feel like you are showing your "human frailty," then go for it, I suppose. Me? I like being accountable and keeping an accurate record of what I really ate each day. I don't like lying in general and I like to see what does and does not work for me. Each to their own.0

If you start out in Corpus Christi and try to head to Tampa, you might sail east across the gulf of mexico to get there, But if you are ACTUALLY in Miami, but think you are in Corpus Cristi and decide to head sail east that will be another story. It'll take a lot longer before you hit land, you probably aren't prepared for the journey and instead of finding Busch Gardens, you end up in Morrocco. This would probably cause a whole lot of crankiness.

Yes, I sometimes add more serving if I'm not sure, and take away exercise calories if they seem to high.

I used to lie and not log in things. Now I log everything, even those extra spoonfuls of peanut butter that I eat.0

I can't say I lie to it. It's not going to judge me. Even on St. Patricks Day I logged every single one of those glasses of 312 (beer) that I had, regardless of the fact that it was 100+ calories per beer. I logged every one of them. I log everything all the time. If I lie to it, I'm just lying to myself. I look accountable on paper, but in real life I'm not being accountable if I cheat. So, I just don't cheat. I have two "off track" meals per week.0

One of the biggest things I've learned is it's OK if I am not "perfect" all the time. I try to log accurately and consistantly as often as I can. I don't intentionally shave calories because that underminds my success. Sometimes, I've left off the details and just entered a calorie estimate. I like the fact that it tracks the nutritional data so I generally try to be as accurate as possible but I don't beat myself up one way or the other.0

Well, lately, I do find myself forgetting to add in that late night snack or I forget a couple of things. Sometimes I just guesstimate because its hard to tell what the exact calories are in something. At the same time, I also neglect adding in some of my exercise. These transgressions show on the scale, so it does more harm than good. I try to do my best though. Just because I don't log it, doesn't mean those calories don't count.
As much as we hate to admit it, lying to ourselves with our food diaries is just a way of us resisting the best that we can potentially be because we don't learn through our mistakes. There is no point in lying to yourself to make yourself feel better, because in the end it won't. It'll only make it worse because your weight loss is still being affected by what you aren't keeping track of.0 -
This is why I don't share my food log with anyone, not even my wife. I don't want to be tempted to lie. Lying is bad. Lying to yourself is crazy.0

I add every thing! What is the point in lying to a journal when you did in fact eat something...I mean it's not like you look at your food diary and say "oh hey I did good today, ooh and look at this I didn't write down those 2 cookies so it actually doesn't even count as if I even ate it at all"
I mean you only cheat yourself when you don't add things, your body keeps track of everything. It just seems pointless to me to have a FOOD diary if you aren't going to write down every thing that you EAT. Just my opinion.0 -

there are many times i just don't log end of days--like by 3pm i was done eating real food and instead chomping on cookies i made FOR my kids.
or it was a holiday (like passover coming up) and i just don't bother with that. too many entries and complicated. so i try to eat sensible portions or just enjoy the food for what it is--integral to celebrating the holiday.
i've been on here a long time and i know i'm not fooling anyone if i outright lie to myself. i keep my diary private so that i can be honest--so i can see that 6 chocolate cookies was 6 too many!

I don't lie to my food log beause I figured out it is like lying to yourself. I used to at one time do it though. Sometimes when I know I have blown it I just quit logging. It is usually on my day off anyway. I usually eat what I want that day anyway.0

I apparently lack the gene that allows one to lie, good & bad at times! LOL! I would never lie about food or ex that I log either, I would only be lying to myself & cheating me anyway... What would be the point?0 -

I make mine as accurate as possible, there may be times that I forget about something because I had a small snack after I hit complete entry. I do sometimes overestimate foods if I'm not sure, I would rather overestimate then under. If I have cookbooks that include nutritional information I still create it as a recipe for accuracy and have found what I come up with to usually be different then what I find in books.0

I haven't lied-- but I have used substitutes such as logging a cupcake instead of a petite for because that isn't an option on here.0

I never lie...probably overestimate- but that's intentional. I log EVERYTHING I eat...if I didn't, I couldn't have lost 40 pounds.0

i don't see a point to lying to my food log, its for me to know how i'm doing and since i know i added that salad dressing or something its better for me to look back and see how my eating habits have gotten better and continue to use it as motivation to eat healthy and hold myself accountable for my actions than to lie and say im doing a good job.0
