My computer is a overclocked AMD, water cooled, dual video card, solid state drives, and 16 gigs ram.

Who else is into PC gaming?

    <----Raises Hand

I pine for your PC btw... lol
Yep, my rig has an i7, single vid card, and only 1.5 TB of memory. I think I'm packing 8 gig RAM, but anything more would require a serious overhaul, which I don't have money for. The SSDs just didn't have enough space for all the hak packs that I have to have to continue to play NWN, and I can't give up my 40th level chars on the PWs I play on.

That is by far the most spelling errors I have seen on a post of mine in a long time. Spellcheckers just aren't nerds.

    Pivot tables are my addiction
Ditto. If you can't put it into a pivot table, it's not real data.

Oooo an excel girl, now that's sexy. I firmly believe that Excel can do anything if you know how. Anything. It could certainly make a better cup of tea than the Sirius Cybernetics Co.

    What the hell....
I'll add to the geekiness of this thread.

I'm a tech geek. You name it I probably support it.
Speak a dozen languages (including C++, Java, SQL, Visual Basic, binary)
Maintain the tech network for 250ish people, program and support a proprietary database system.

    And I read UR Emailz.

What can I say I talk nerdy.

Catching up on this thread from my blackberry while in the "oval office" lol

Is there a BB app that helps read the forums? Surfing to the pages with the browser and then zooming is a PITA.

After reading this thread, an advertisement for Lord of the Rings Online appeared. I find this nerdy enough. :D<3

When I get nostalgic, instead of looking at photo albums I look at my old copies of PC Magazine from 1990.

    $3500 for a pc with 33mhz processing and a floppy drive? That's a steal!

I'm the "Alpha Nerd" in my group of nerds... true story...

I used to think I was shy until I became a software developer...and met other developers...

Also, I'm game for more nerd friends... if you've every used a spreadsheet to calculate your calories in and out and had it mathematically match your overall weight loss trend over the course of several months, you know where I'm coming from.

Or played Chrono Trigger (and fracking loved it), that makes you a-okay in my book.

Spreadsheet? What spreadsheet? Do you have access to my computer?

Alright... I'll self nominate just because I can... *ahem*.

I was that straight A teachers' pet all through high school. French Club, Drama Club, A/V club, band, jazz band, chorus, Science Honors Seminar, attended a sci-tech magnet, etc. Been programming since I was about 6 (my dad had a TI computer which taught me BASIC). I'm a data nerd and professor. I dress up for cons and recently performed Date My Avatar. I met Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie while dressed up in officer's colors (albeit with a TNG communicator badge /fail). I met my bf in WoW and moved him across the country - we now play TOR together and D3. I was a DJ for an industrial/goth club and alternative music station. I own collector's editions of everything from Narnia to LOTR to the Star Wars movies to Final Fantasy piano soundtracks to Clerks. I wear glasses (sometimes). I sing Still Alive pretty well. I have a Master's in Library and Information Science. I swear I'm going to get a 42 tattoo someday. I started using the internet in 1997. My first modem was 300 baud. I know the Holy Grail really well - I could recite it right now and have you ROTFLOL. If you didn't know that that was a Weird Al reference, you don't belong in this thread.

I also build gaming PCs. Mine is:

    gigabyte 990 mobo
    16gb corsair vengeance ddr3
    amd radeon HD 6850 1GB
    1tb WD caviar black
    cooler master haf 922 case
    750 watt ocz psu
    saitek cyborg keyboard
razer lachesis mouse (old skool, but I love it)

    ...hopefully, I qualify

Ok, Douglas Adams is great... But it's kind of the lowest level of geekdom, like wearing "no, I will not fix your computer" t-shirts your mom bought you from ThinkGeek, or having ever played Nintendo. There is nothing wrong with these things but I don't think they're particularly geeky or nerdy.

What's your favorite sci-fi novel or series? Anyone read the Hyperion quadrilogy?
