Canadian Oil with Low Acid, actually. CANOLA.

I guess all those canola plants I see growing everywhere all summer really don't exist?

Canola was genetically-modified rape seed, which was "invented" at the University of Manitoba.

I really think you should back up such a claim when calling a Physician a quack. Especially one so respected as Dr. Mercola. So prove it with regard to the post I referenced.

It's irresponsible of you to offer your opinion on this site without backing up such a claim.

Sorry this was in response to Thomasm198 comments on my post.

Dr. Mercola is a quack and I would suggest that nobody listen to him, ever.

Okay this has nothing to do with my comments, but I'll go with it.

If you've actually read the posts that you offer, you'd see that they offer no proof other than saying he's a quack, and I quote, " I’ve never really checked his site for lies in particular…just silly, illogical falsehoods." unquote. His words not mine.

    Enough said.

My post was a warning to others so they don't get fooled into thinking that Mercola actually has legitimate information to offer the public. And I stand by my assertion that he's nuts.

This is obviously personal opinion - but I am allowed to offer my personal opinion that he is a quack, so I will go ahead.

Anyone who calls microwaves dangerous, contrary to science saying otherwise, who does not believe AIDS is caused by HIV, who believes sunscreens causes cancer, who opposes the use of most prescription drugs, immunizations and vaccinations but sells his own dietary supplements, in my opinion, is a quack.

He has been in trouble on numerous occasions with the FDA for making false claims - the most recent letter is here: http://www.casewatch.org/fdawarning/prod/2011/mercola.shtml

    But ... but ...

Isn't the rule that the more outrageous the claim, the more true it must be????

FYI, Sara, I only really started noticing your posts the last few days and some have been funny snark, but many have been very good advice. Unlike a certain someone in this thread.

[/quote] while we're talking about the poisonous canola oil we should also bring up the equally dangerous dihydrogen monoxide. Both of them should be banned, clearly.

SMH. You eat babies so it shouldn't piss me off that you made a rape joke. Except I don't know anyone who ate a baby and got away with it, but know about ten rapists off the top of my head.

Rape isn't funny. Please don't make rape jokes. The rapists love them.

people can say it's safe all they want, but we have proven again and again that both my husband and his brother are allergic to/or react to this oil with horrible diarrhea within 12 hours of consuming the food item . I even 'tested' it out on my hubby to make sure it wasn't 'in his head' and sure enough, he got sick after eating something with canola oil in it that he would have never expected to contain it. I'm not saying it bothers everyone, but if you are having digestive problems and can't figure out why try avoiding foods with canola oil in them for awhile and see if it helps. It doesn't bother me, but I'm avoiding it too--not sure I want something in my body that has that kind of effect on anyone!!

that was kinda mean, but funny. Next time try visine in his water. It has the same effect.
Do NOT put visine in someone's food/drink. It can kill them. It does NOT cause diarrhea, it can cause severe depression of your central nervous system. http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/visine.asp

For me, all things considered, there are so many better choices that I see no need to include Canola Oil in my diet.

    Agreed.

Without tortillas, I am not happy.

I will continue to be happy, with tortillas and canola oil.

    @thomasm198 and @rml_16 and @Sarauk2sf
I've just joined this group, and it's been quite refreshing how members offer quality responses out of respect for the venue. Otherwise, why would anyone bother to even participate?!

I've learned a long time ago that you give more time to the better team members and very little time to the "insert derogatory word here" team members.

You and Thomasm198 should take a page from your own guru at Scienceblog:

"Denialism is the employment of rhetorical tactics to give the appearance of argument or legitimate debate, when in actuality there is none. These false arguments are used when one has few or no facts to support one’s viewpoint against a scientific consensus or against overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They are effective in distracting from actual useful debate using emotionally appealing, but ultimately empty and illogical assertions."

    Sounds about right.

@Sarauk2sf, I notice that you are held in high esteem on this sight. That says a lot about you and your minions.
You are obviously a savant.

    Best wishes.

Bitter much? Obviously, if people agree with me it must be because I am some sort of swami and not because they agree with me of their own free will and opinion.

You have spend a lot of time with us in this thread, so obviously you think we are some of the better members - thank you :flowerforyou:
