thank u all for the support...i was very frustrated today instead of having mcdonalds i ate some shaved steak with a little bit of white rice...i cant go to mcdonalds because i wont stop eating...i will stuff myself silly.....the most ive ever eaten at once there and that was after reaching my goal weight a long time ago was one of those 50 chicken nugget buckets a big mac meal supersized (because they still had those options)......and my friends stood there in awe and couldnt believe that i could fit all that stuff into my body
well anyway i think i was tired too which made me hungry as well...after my 3 hour nap i feel so much better

i can't even picture you eating that much!! good job on the steak, sounds yummy!

so i am back today. i was feeling so crappy since sunday night. i think it is cause i am weighing myself daily. and i see the scale not budge despite all my work so i get mad. i will just do it once a week! maybe even every two weeks. it is so disappointing otherwise.

so. i am acctually going to take some of lionesses advice! not the clean part. but the protein part. i do eat too many carbs, and it makes me lethargic. so this morning i am gonna eat a hardboiled egg, and go from there. try not to have more than one carb loaded meal a day kinda thing.

good luck to all of you tommorow for the weigh in.

    what shall the challenge be?
thats the one thing i do agree with her on to a certain extent....it depends on the type of carbs your putting into your body...whole wheat full of fiber is great for ur body if u eat it in portions ...also fruits and veggies are good carbs that are great for ur body hun...and protein is a good idea...protein is great for ur body ...my suggestion would be chicken breasts, pork loins are great also and good flavor, also i love ground turkey...these meats are low in fat and high in protein.

and i can eat a lot at one time if i choose to...i talked to my old pyschian about it and he said if u yo yo diet the inside of your stomach can possibly be stretched out bigger than a person who weighs in at 300+lbs..because the constant packing in of food stretches the lining or something of the sort i guess ...i had an eating contest about 6yrs ago when i was 110lbs against a guy who is 6'2"tall and weighed about 250...we went to pizza hut and did the buffet...i had a large pizza along with 2extra slices, 4cinna sticks, 3 cheesey bread sticks, a bowl of pasta salad, and an order of mozzerrella sticks (I only ate 4)...but by the end of it all i had only lost by 1 slice...lol i used to be an eating machine :blushing:

I totally crash if I don't have protein! I like oatmeal for breakfast so I make it with 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2 cup water - adds some protein....

I am always over on protein...I struggle with knowing what are good carbs and bad carbs...it's all a big learing process!

Hasian - no way - I can't believe you'd eat that much...I'd skip it all together too - maybe you can find subs that you can cook at home - oven roasted fries, hamburgers that you control what's in them and it would kill your cravings.

good carbs to me are anything whole wheat...whole wheat breads, whole wheat pastas, and if u look at the labels on packaging read how much fiber is in it...you deduct the carb count with the fiber count so if there's 15carbs and 4 fiber its actually 11carbs...and also about labels if u buy whole wheat breads the first ingredient should be whole wheat...fruits and veggies are also a good source of carbs

bad carbs are candy, white flour so white breads and white flour pasta, chips, and regular colas.....

and i can eat a lot...i have very bad compulsive tendencies and i wont stop eating...unfortunately, thats why i dont cave and go to mcdonalds or get a pizza or indudge period....because i wont stop...i have too much of an addictive personality :blushing:

I have a big appetite too - I can remember eating a bag yes big bag of chips by myself...that's why I think "this time" it's working - I eat plenty but I am just eating better stuff - a year ago - I could easily have gone 2 or 3 days with no fruit or veggie - now - it's rare to have a meal/snack without. I am a big fruit eater...

    So what about white potatoes?
    I know sweet are better....

Good morning ladies! I've been lurking, but not posting much. Are we weighing in today? New week, new challenges, new thread?

Anyways, I was reading about the protein good carbs thing... It's a good idea to have some of both for every meal and snack. Some foods do count as both-- ex Kashi Go-Lean cereal with milk. The cereal has a high fiber content, good protein amount, and also carbs. You put milk on it, more protein. Some fruit too, more good carbs. If you do oatmeal, Chrissy, along with your milk, you can add a tablespoon of slivered almonds on it. Adds protein and flavor. I thought it was weird when I first read it, but tried it one time and now I love putting a half cup of Fage on my oatmeal when it's done cooking. When you have protein (and/or good fats like nuts and avocados), it slows the absorbtion of the sugars into your blood stream.

If you're doing 5 or 6 mini meals a day, and are having trouble figuring out stuff, an easy way to do it is 1/2 cup protein (cut up chicken or whatever) and 1/2 cup energy carb (grains, rices, pastas) and 1/2 cup color carb (fruits and veggies). Mix it all together and viola! instant meal!

Shoot, gotta go--oldest is in drivers ed.

me personally i dont eat potatoes until i reach my goal weight and then ill slowly incorporate foods that i enjoy .......if u eat potatoes in reason theyre fine.....mine is just a personal choice not to touch them yummy delicious spuds lol
p.s. i do have my bad carb every other day tho...white rice, i dont like brown rice so i stay with half a serving of white rice for lunch with protein and half a cup of rice with my dinner lol

yes i would assume they are :flowerforyou: but if u can eat foods portioned out and stop when you've finished that portion than its fine to eat...its the over eating that gets people  i just figure if its not there to over eat then it wont happen:laugh:

I'm pretty sure that potatoes are better than white rice/noodles/bread especially if you eat the skin. The reason white bread is unhealthy is most of the nutrients and fiber are taken out during the processing. Potatoes still have all their fiber and nutrients. In fact, they are an excellent source of potassium.

I had burgers last night! I love Roman Meal's whole wheat buns. They're only 110 calories. I like to add minced garlic and worchestershire to the meat before I make the patties. Delish!

I make complicated oatmeal. I cook it with water then add 1/4c plain yogurt, 1/4c milk, a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg, a little molasses, and some fresh fruit usually strawberries but today I used a half necturine. I think tomorrow I'm going to cut out the molasses and add a whole necturine.

Tomorrow's challenge is only one non-water beverage.

The only daily challenge we have so far for next week is eating clean on saturday. Any one have any suggestions for daily or the weekly challenge?

Oh and I was thinking, if everyone wants to send me their weights tomorrow, I'll post a little chart tracking everyones progress.:flowerforyou:

 The funny thing about Maxipad is on of my nicknames is Joyous Maximus. Strange. I know.

We should do both. I really like the within 50cals. Normally, we just do under but I know there are days when I stay WAY under, generally on accident.

I have not worn a size 10 since senior year in HS. I also had to buy a medium top. I'm a little in shock right now.

I will now stop b!tching about my weight and go buy a measuring tape.

Well at least you are making the ten minutes a day challenge! Since we talked about making the weekly challenge the exercise challenge, how about having the week challenge be to work out at least 3hrs during the week and each person can break it out how they want. That work for you?:flowerforyou:

    Anyone have any more ideas??

Congrats on the size 10! I'm hoping to be in one soon. I don't think I've ever been one.

I received a monetary award at work and I think I'm going to use part of it to get hydrostatic (underwater) body fat measurement and get my RMR tested. I found a place that will do them both for $121 and I have a 15% coupon. I'm not cheap. I'm frugal.

    what is RMR?

RMR is Resting Metabolic Rate. It is the number of calories you would burn if you slept all day/

I like the exercise challenge. I have the 30 day shred thingie that is 25 mins that I can do after work, and I want to start getting up a little earlier and do abs and push-ups in the morning before I get into the shower....that should spread the 3 hours out nicely over the week.

    Hey everybody!!

The scale at Curves said 127!!!!!
It hasn't said that number since early Novermber - I was so excited that I had the owner weigh and measure me today instead of waiting for Friday, my normal weigh/measure day. The inches didn't look very different, but it's only a 2 pound weight loss since last month. :ohwell: However......2.5 pounds of body fat lost, BMI down to 23.23!!!  I hope this is the plateau break I've been looking for - I've been stuck yo-yo'ing from 128.5 to 132 for the past 6 weeks and been really frustrated with it.

Burned 450 calories.........yeah me!!

It's been a good day :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I'm at 160lb, same as last week.

If everyone can either PM me their weights or post them by 1130a Pac (230p Eas), I'll post the chart and a new thread (if no one else has).

I'm kind of sad I made an appointment to get hydrostatic body fat testing and have my RMR tested on Saturday but now I have to postpone because my TOM is supposed to start Saturday or Sunday. I'm not sure if it effects it but I know I'll question the results if my body fat or RMR is higher than I expect.
