I used a picture of me, it was what I looked like when I started. Then I posted a few more, now it's a random pic since I haven't taken a new one and I'm tired of the old one (I like to see something different every few months).0

My husband jokes...says he is my Hollywood husband...0 -
I use a fake one because I'm usually kind of mean in the forums...but I also made that picture, so I'm showing off my artwork.0

Mine is a legit photo.
You are what you eat, right?

I used one of myself...the weight has never defined me...I was still a happy person on the inside and managed to work with what I had on the outside....I just got tired of living life with that body...I have TONS of pictures of when I was over weight many can't say that because of the feelings they had for their weight...Congrats to your success and I would say to anyone new to MFP...Be proud of you making a difference for your life and beating the odds with starting....0

I'm new here, but used to post on another exercise website. I never used my own pic but not because I'm embarrassed of my looks. I just want privacy & prefer to talk about certain things without the world knowing who I am.
She said it so much better than me. That is the exact reason I don't have a picture of myself out there.0 -
I put up my own photo and then had two photos that were encouragement of the size I use to be. I am now closer than ever to goal :-)0

I've been on MFP for 4.5 months, and I just recently switched to a non-me picture.
Sometimes you just don't want people looking at your face, on the internet or otherwise.0 -
There are lots of current and previous pictures of me floating out there in cyberspace. I am who I am, trying hard to be the best that I can be at this very moment. I use a representative avatar because I want to be known by my words, not by what people may assume they know about me or by how they may nor may not identify with me from how I look. I believe I'll get more from the site that way.0

I have to use pics like this because ladies get too excited and send me creepy PMs when I have my profile picture of myself up. Something about my eyes.
My heart flutters at the sight of your eyes. Your tiny, tiny eyes.0 -
LOL... Um. 'Nuff said.0

I did not have a photo up at first but it was not related to me being ashamed of what I looked like... Well, I wasn't happy with how I looked but that was not the reason. I was unsure how the site worked and I did not want my photo floating for students and such to find out the account was indeed mine and start delving into my personal business... Once I trusted it a bit more, I posted one.. after a couple of months.0

<<<<<<<<<<<<< self explanatory lol0

I put up my own fat mug...reason being is that I need to be honest with myself. What better way than to have all 238 lbs of honesty staring right back at me.0

I don't feel comfortable posting a real picture yet, I hate the way I look at the moment. I'm sure it will change in the future. A lot of my friends who started at the same time/are a similar weight have been brave enough to post real pictures and I admire them so much for that.
My sentiments exactly. My pic is actually me but from 1994, just 3 months after giving birth to my daughter. I'm hoping to get to that point by the end of this summer (or pretty close). Maybe by July I will update my pic to the present.0 -
not embarrassment, privacy issues.0

i put up a pic of me from my wedding day, when i was 15 pounds lighter than when i started here! lol. it was the most recent pic, so up it went. (now i am only 5 pounds heavier than in the pic! yay!)0
-
When I first started it was me, it will always be me. No matter my shape or form. I'm not embarrassed, I'm doing this for me, and I don't care what people think. There are people who are smaller than me, there are people who are larger than me. I'm okay with that. I've come to realize that this journey is all about me. It's my own selfish right, and it not only benefits me, it benefits my family and friends, because a healthier me is a happier me. So, I don't really care if someone sees my "fat" pictures, I'm all about pictures. Big or small, it's still me on the inside.

I think that there is a certain level of anonymity to the internet that many, many people prefer to keep. You never know what kind of strange person is out there, checking out the weight loss site. Personally, I don't care. My pic is me and has been from the start. I can, however, see the merit in using a non-personal picture. It often has nothing to do with shame and a lot to do with the person just being a much more private person than I am.0

my pic has been "me" from git go :bigsmile:0

I used one of me, and now I've got the ultimate power in the universe...Vegeta tha prince of all Saiyans! and Chevy Chase as my ticker...hehehe...*sighs happily*0

I am not embarrassed to post photos in general, just photos that aren't as photogenic. I did however view a photo of me on Facebook with my son when he graduated from High School last year. My ex husband's sister posted it on her wall and it is one of the most worst photos I had ever taken. The angle and lighting was just ugh! She had family photos and that was the most recent one of me that she had and it was about my son's special day, not about whether I photographed well that day. Still I wish she would take it off because I looked like Barney the dinosaur.(I was wearing a purple suit) LOL0

Not embarrassed, just love the fact that everyone at my work won't recognize me and immediately get in my business and offer unwanted advise. They do as it is. I don't like constantly defending my diet choices at my work place. This is my journey and I want to remain honest and not "looked over" more than I already do. Ha! Maybe I just need to work with more professional people. Most of them are on this site, and lie constantly in their diaries just to save face.0

LOL, I literally JUST uploaded a photo for the first time, then saw this topic.
I'm not embarrassed, but I don't have any actual photos of myself on my computer - there's a few on the external drive (though not many, I'm usually behind the camera on family outings) but it's not plugged in at the moment. So, for now, so I won't have that "no photo" icon anymore, I put up a pic I did have on my computer of one of the dolls I collect (I also painted her face, and I'm proud of how well she turned out). I wouldn't mind putting up a real pic of myself since my ticker shows everyone here how far I have to go anyway... but I think Cecily will stay up there for a while until I find one of myself that I like.0 -

I guess I am one of those people!!! I will definitely want to post a pic of me when I feel more comfortable (although I will not show my face for privacy). One of my inspirations is thinking of how great it would be to post of pic of me in my bikini0
