Good Day, or rather Good Evening already,
Elli will be happy to be in her 'new' house. Barbie, you are excellent at staying in touch.
Thanks, Jeffery, it is good to be home, and back with it.
Gayla, sounds like that WOULD HAVE been a great smoothie. I know what you mean about new appliances, although my new blender doesn't do as good a job as the old one did tho' it is supposed to be a real hot shot - a gift from one of the kids. Looks great on the counter tho'.
Pretty hard to get much exercise here with all the smoke. Here's hoping we can get away from it till things cool down a bit.
How's your day been, Marie? I guess we won't hear from you now till morning.
I'm having trouble getting back in the grove with keeping track of food. Feel pretty distracted trying to catch up with everything and everyone after being away. No excuses, hey, Barbie. You have stuck with it through thick and thin, and now you are much thinner Love the Canada shirt!
Ellen0 -
Good morning guys and gals,
Babie thanks for an update on Elli. Been missing her around here. Glad to hear her son will be home soon.
Ellen, am doing fine. I am on the caveman diet, It seems to be working pretty good. Got a round of Dr.s appt. coming up soon.
Gayla what a mess you had with that smoothie. How is Neil doing?
Phoebe, Hope Jim's got rid of the cake for you.
Barbs, You have been sort of quite here lately? Hope all is well.
Jeffrey, sure glad to see you dropping in more often.,
Sandy, My you are a busy gal. Daisy is so sweet. Just want to grab her and give her a big hug. She is going to be a big doggie. I am glad you husband is enjoying her.
Beth, Be glad to see you get back to the states How much longer?
Jake, are you still cooking? Seem like our guys here are great chef.
Sandi, Where are you?
Marie0 -
Good Morning,
How nice to hear from everyone. I will make comments later because I am chairing my meeting today and I have to come up with a topic to speak about. I have to look at some of my books to get a subject.
Meeting this afternoon, dinner with friends tonight. This is really a busy summer for me.
Talk to you soon.
Sandy0 -
hi everyone, good to hear from so many of you.
Glad to hear Elli is ok. Hope Beth is too.
We are leaving tomorrow. Need to finish laundry today, and general pick up-things are scattered everyone from the floor installation, and we have'nt had much time to get it all straight.
We had vegetable last night, very good, I couldn't eat all of mine, got too full.
Marie, Jim likes that first slice of cake, then he doesn't seem to want anymore, I 'suggested' that he have a piece last night!! I did have a small piece myself, it is better after refrigeration for a couple of days. We'll end up giving the rest to the guys in the maintenance dept at work.
I think I will make cupcakes next time!!
ok, time to scoot, got to download audiobooks, etc.
take care,0 -
Phoebe it was so nice having you around for a spell. You and Kim be careful out on the roads
I like getting up in the morning and having so many post to read. you all are such a Hoott!!
Have a wonderful day.
Marie0 -
Marie,
I am alive and kicking, just busy--still trying to tie off loose ends where Linda is concerned. There is a legal matter that I am trying to resolve, and it was made more challenging by someone interfering with the situation, making resolution more difficult.
I also am having "assistance" with this post, thanks to a pesky little black doggie named "Pepper" who has decided that HE is the ONLY "laptop" that mama should pay attention to!!
I am finished with work for another week as of Friday morning, so maybe I will have time to catch up.
I have been reading everyday, just not saying much.
Hope all is well with everyone.
Barb0 -
Tell Jim i had a misprint on his name , sorry. I better start proof reading everything twice. My eyes seem to be getting worst. Old age I guess and can't type either.0

Hi everyone! It is a cool and rainy day so I decided to make a big pot of vegetable soup. I am a bit doubtful about the outcome but hopefully it will be edible. If it turns out I will give you the recipe, it is easy and quite healthy. Neil was feeling a bit down today so I took him into the city with me to do a few errands. He enjoyed that and then we went to lunch at one of his favorite restaurants. It was yummy and I think I did ok. It was a big plate so I ate a portion of it and stopped. Yeah me!
Marie -- Looks like you found another new diet. Just when I think I have been on them all. This sounds like it must be nuts and berries. Hope it works well for you. I know you will keep it safe. Neil has been doing quite well. He still has a few seizures most days but that is way better than it was. For the most part his behavior is good. He had a wee meltdown and last night and again this morning. I could see he was sad about something and we are always the safe people to take it out on. He seems fine now so we shall see. He is excited about going away next week. Me too! I wish I liked shopping more but I do always have a good time at the big mall and do always manage to spend money.
Phoebe -- I, too, have enjoyed you being around for a few extra days. I bet you did too. Have a good trip!
Sandy -- You are one busy girl. As long as you enjoy it that is terrific. How was the meeting and your talk?
Barb -- I completely understand reading and not posting. Sometimes we just can't and that is ok. It is nice to know you are around reading and thinking about us, just as we think about you.
Ellen -- How is the fire situation today? Did you get any of our rain?
Thinking about the rest of you. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Gayla, I am yet trying a new diet. called the caveman diet. Haven't got into it yet. but look like the first two weeks is nut, fruits and berries all day till dinner Then anything you want such as pezza, hanburgers what eever your want As soon as you get up you drink a big glass of water. And the next 2 weeka nothing but waater till dinner then have a good dinner with roots veggies. I haven't read on the last stage and I may hve these others wrong. This is reading from the the web site under The caveman diet. I order the book but have not got it yet. this may be too drastic for me, We shall see.
I am posting on this thread now.A bunch of nice girls http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/62132-low-carb-ers-challenge-to-choose-change
Here is a s quote I got off the Calorie counter this morning, I thought was kind of cute,
I visualize myself slimming down as I shower and the water flows over me and the weight melts off.
Sleep tight.
Marie0 -
Hi Everybody, :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
:flowerforyou: Marie----you are the diet expert. You could one of those websites that rates the new diets.
:flowerforyou: Ellen---glad you're back. sorry about the continued smoke. How nice that your hubby cooks for you. It sounds delicious.
:flowerforyou: Jeffrey
your exercise sounds great, so do your stuffed peppers
:flowerforyou: Sandy, you are so busy and doing so many interesting things. Give your Daisy Mae some extra hugs from me. Hope your meeting went well.
:flowerforyou: Gayla----we use our blender so much that I'm surprised we haven't had some sort of mishap. I hope your new blender is the best.
:flowerforyou: Phoebe----best wishes on your next trip.
:flowerforyou: Barb
the dogs bump my elbow when I'm on the computer. The cats are the ones that walk on the keyboard.
I've been a little under the weather the last two days.   I made it to line dance and taught my dance but then came home and took a long nap. I'm headed for bed early again tonight.
hugs to all,
Barbie0 -
Barbie wish you could put your line dance on CD so we can see it.
My caliecat likes to lay on my lap while I am on the computor and also walk across the keyboard.
Sammy don't bother me unless he wants to go out the front door. Then he is pawing me. He has a doggie door to go out in the back yard but its a treat to go out front. Jerry has got him so spoiled. He takes him on my trike in the basket and makes him walk home. And this you wont believe If I don't go with my walker Sammy wont go. So Jerry is taking my walker on their walk. and Sammy is tickle to go. Don't know what the neigbors think. Most of the time I do go but a few times I am just not up to it.
Marie0 -
So... does this mean Sammy Likes you, but LOVES your walker?? DOGS!! haha an author I like says the same thing about CATS!!
I'm just catching up on posts before I shut down the pc for the week. I am also finally getting the audiobooks transferred to my ipod. It is the second time I have used my ipod, and I forgot it takes a bit longer using the ipod than it does with my other mp3 players. I can only transfer one book at a time, it won't let me set them all up and come back later. So , I guess I will wait til I get to a longer book, then I'll head downstairs and cook bacon, wash lettuce and tomatoes to take with us.. yes, of course you have all guessed it.. BLT sandwiches.. we have a basketful of tomatoes from the garden..the bacon will spoil before we use it up at home. And I have a mini toaster oven that I bought about 5 years ago..for maybe 5.00 at a resale shop. I tested it today for the first time, it works fine. It will fit in a closet in the truck. These days, we need to stretch our dollars, and it really saves quite a bit over restaurants. The only cheap food is fast food, and it has gone thru the roof.
Jim wanted sloppy joes for dinner, so I saved a spoonful of the cooked lean ground beef, and put in into a mini lasagne for myself.. it was delish.. I bought a small box of whole wheat lasagne on sale and used a small jar of ragu, 2% shredded cheddar, sparingly, then chopped a small tomato, and a poblano pepper. My goodness, I thought I was in pasta heaven! I can honestly say, I could forgo the meat in it and not miss it. My mother wouldn't believe her daughter had changed her eating preferences, based on that alone, she wouldn't even know me!!
Did anyone else ever eat mashed potato sandwiches? It was my favorite food when I was younger!
I got a free dvd in a box of Special K cereal, I watched it tonight. I think it would be a good toning dvd, when I get time for it.. 10 minutes to 3 sessions, total of 30 minutes, and it looks doable, although I'm sure I would be very sore. I cannot remember the name of the instructor.
You are all so on the ball these days, I'm very proud of you.. Marie, why do they call it the caveman diet? nuts and berries? take care, check your sugar, be careful. Love ya0 -
Good Morning,
My meeting went well, my subject was "One Day at a Time". Our discussion was informative and interesting. Thank you for asking.
Last night went to dinner with four of my girlfriends. We had a good time and I ate Mahimahi which was delicious.
Today another playdate with the girls, not sure what our plans are but possibly a kid's movie.
Marie, if I could only have water until dinner I would starve. My body requires small meals in order for me to lose weight and keep it off. Be careful with your diabetes with that diet please. I love hearing about your animals they sound like characters.
Phoebe, good hearing from you and stay safe on your next road trip. I didn't eat mashed potato sandwiches but I did eat mayo sandwiches. Also my mom use to put ketchup on spaghetti,
I actually loved it.
Barbie, I hope you feel better today, don't wear yourself out, stay home and rest. Your body might be telling you that it needs a time out from all your hard work.
Gayla, your vegetable soup sounds good let us know how it turned out. I didn't realize Neil had a seizure and/or more everyday. That must be so hard for him and for you. I hope you both get to enjoy your trip and have a good time, you so deserve it as he does.
Hope everyone else is enjoying this Friday and has a terrific weekend.
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Sandy0 -
Sandy I was looking at the wrong diet. I will just wait until I get my book and let you guys know more. I did order the right book tho.
Yes Sammy is a mess. I had just gotten up and Jerry was leaving for his walk and Sammy came to me, wanting me to go. I told him "i wasn't going" and he went on out with Jerry. All Calie do is sleep and eat.
Marie0 -
Barbie Yes, hubby likes to cook and is pretty good at making food that I can eat too. Hope you are feeling better today. I did get in 10,000 steps yesterday but it plum tuckered me out. I have some lung/heart problems and the smokey air with the fires doesn't help a bit.
But yes, Gayla , it is starting to clear. We missed the rain altogether but the cooler weather helps, only in the 90's instead of over 100 [32 yesterday here, instead of 37 ish - translation into metric for the Canuck friends]. They have let some of the evacuees return home.
Marie, Love your sense of adventure to try these new diets. This one sounds rather stringent. I had to smile thinking of your hubby using your walker to take the dog for a walk; what we won't do for our pets.
You do keep busy, Sandy. Fun to enjoy the summer with the kiddies.
Save journeys, Phoebe.
Have a good day all
Ellen0 -
Hi Ellen. Our life revolve around our animals. I guess you notice.
We are heading to another +100 today. But it is that time of the year.
I have been looking all my life for the perfect diet for me. I got down to my goal in 1969 by doing weight watchers. But it has change so much and haven't been able to lose on it anymore. I think our age has a lot to do with it. But it is not bothering Barbie. It just goes to show you that being active pays off.
Time to go clean my mess up in the kitchen..See you laater
Gayla, How was your veggie soup? I guess you are getting pack. And ready to go on your trip. Have a good time and choose your food wisely. You have done so great this time.
Marie0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
I wouldn't be waking or exercising if we had smoke like you do, Ellen. Jake burned some incense yesterday and it was almost too much for me.
I am still fighting my cold, but like Sandy says, I am taking it one day at a time.
I danced this morning but took a three hour nap  this afternoon followed by sitting in a chair for 90 minutes watching TV. It is hard for me to sit still. I think exercise and activity are the solution to everything.
We are going to an event tomorrow where lunch will be provided and I am reasonably certain that it won't be something we can eat, so I fixed chicken, green beans, and tomatoes along with apple, green pepper, hummus, and WASA crackers for snacks since it will last all afternoon.
Now it's time for bed.
Hugs to all0 -
HI all,
I know I don't read this as much as I'd like to, but you know the weather is nice and even though we live in a rain shadow the winters in Northwest Washington are still challenging for us golfers. So I get in as much as I can, I've been spending quite a bit of time working also. When the weather turns I'll spend more time indoors and read this more often.
Marie I'm still do lunch for Barbie and me, I like the vegetables best, but barb's getting me to prepare meat more often, not my favorite, but I'll live.
Barbie has been sot of blah the past couple of days so I've wisely stayed away from her, (just outside of sneeze and coughing range). We have a lot of movement with the Canadian geese right now, the earliest I remember them leaving the reserve. Long term forecasts call for a long, cold, wet winter again so it seems to me that someone has done their homework and are calling the weather shots early and if anything like the usual job pretty accurately.
You know my bride just keeps getting trimmer and slimmer, ahh! It's nice to be in this situation, starting another career where I get to call the shots and make the hours, (no matter what 12 of each day they are) and married to the love of my life who just keeps getting better. I guess someone has to do it huh?
Anyhow I never know what to say and just wanted to drop all of you a quick line, so be safe, remember that healthy tastes a whole lot better than any hot fudge sundae ever made, drink lots of water, cleanse, and make sure you laugh a whole bunch.
jake:drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0 -
Jake and Barbie so nice to hear from you. Barbie hope you are feeling better now. Jerry and i have neither one been sick in a couple years with a cold. I guess because we don't get out with the public very much. Just grocer shopping. Jake you got a wonderful bride. And Barbie got a wonderful husband. Take care of one another.God bless you both.
Gayla I guess you are off on you holiday to Edmonson.
Phoebe is off to Calif. or wild blue yonder. Take care.
Sandy , Running around all over the country.Having a ball.
Barbs, walking around the world.
Ellen fighting the smoke.
Jeffrey, enjoying Sam being home.
Beth over there keeping us safe.
Sandi, who we have not heard from lately.
Elli , who is being missed very much.
Everyone have a wonderful day.
Marie0 -
Hi to Everyone!!1
Going to be really hot here today and tomorrow even hotter. I plan on staying in and doing laundry before Church at 5:00, then having pizza and a play date for Daisy and Sadie at my stepson's.
Tomorrow we are going to my husband's brother's house for a family gathering. He has rented a big water slide to keep cool, but I think it will be mostly for the kids. I know I am not wearing a swimsuit in front of all of those relatives.
I am maintaining my weight at 132, which is three pounds from my goal, but it is my own fault because I haven't been exercising and have been cheating a little on my calories. After next week when we are done entertaining little kids I will get back full force on my program. I still feel good and according to others look slim so I am not going to beat myself up. I just don't want to start gaining and fall back in that same old rut. As long as I keep coming here and reading posts and venting to you I think I will be fine.
You are all such an inspiration to me that I don't want to let you down. :noway:
Enjoy your weekend, keep love in your heart.
Sandy0 -
Hi everyone! We have glorious sunshine today so I should be out enjoying the glorious day. I still only have one tomato on my plants and lots of lovely yellow flowers. My cukes have many, many flowers but not producing much. I think we haven't had enough hot days for them. I hope this weekend will get them going. My peas are full of pods and I expect they will be ready to pick when we return from our holiday. I wasn't that thrilled with my easy peasy soup but it was ok, with a few changes I think it could be quite good and it is healthy. I think some basil would help it a lot. My review is posted and if any of you want to try it I am leaving the url. It would be a nice change from the WW soup that many of us have made.

Marie -- Are your legs better than before the surgery? I sure hope that they are. You have me curious about your new diet. We are leaving Monday for our short holiday in Edmonton.
Sandy -- Don't worry about those last few pounds, I think you have done so well to maintain with all the activities you have been involved in. I hope not to gain over our little jaunt. Neil does have daily seizures but they aren't grand mal type. They do daze him and leave him with a terrible headache. They are very painful while he is having one so having a couple a day instead of 14 is a huge relief. The best part is that some days he has none.
Jake and Barbie -- You two continue to do so well on your plan. Kudos to both of you. I hope you are feeling better soon, Barbie. I see a cold does not keep you down!
My best to everyone else.
Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/62132-low-carb-ers-challenge-to-choose-change.
Gayla, Here is the thread I am going too. Sassy is losing some each day. I haven't got my book yet. But did find out I don't eat nuts and fruit all day. I was looking at the wrong Caveman diet. It is surpose to be clean eating foods. But I will find out more about it when I get the book. And keep you informed.
I wll also check your soup recipe out. Have a good time on your short trip. Didn't something terrible happen there. I think it was a roof caving in or something. Duing the early part of summer our Dallas cowboy s Practice bldg. cave in during a heavy storm One of the Dallas Cowboys was serious hurt but no one ws killed.
Sandy, You are doing great. Get out there and play with the kids. You are only young once.
Barbie, I bet if you added up all the miles you and Jake have walk, you have walk across he entire USA.
Maybe a couple of times or more. Keep at them girl. and be sure you take Jake with you so he can cook for you.
Everybody else Hello again.
Marie0 -
Hello dear friends.
I have dropped 2 lbs since last Monday. Still have 4 lbs to lose to get back to my weight a month or so.
I am doing pretty good on my Caeman Diet. Alice came out and we went shopping and out to eat. We went to AppleBee's and I have Shrimp Salad, delish with avocados , bacon hard boil eggs, Lettuce and some more good stuff. I could only eat 1/3 of it and pack the rest and brought home Will have a couple more meals off of it. So I stay good. It wasn't hard to do.
Sandy hope you are having a ball on your outings with the kids and your in-laws.
All the rest of you have a good day.........Marie0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
I think the cold is winning.   so I have decided to concede defeat and stay home and relatively quiet all day----and, yes, working on the computer is being quiet.
I canceled all three things I was supposed to do today, took a shower, put on warm clothes, and am doing as little as possible. The dogs and cats like that because when I lie around, they can lie around with me.
I managed to walk over 10,000 steps on Thursday and Friday (line dance helped) but yesterday I got only 7,000 steps and today I didn't ever walk the dogs so my step count should be an all time low for me. Since I'm not exercising much, my eating will have to be simple to keep my calories down.
The lunch we brought with us yesterday was perfect. We were right that there really wasn't anything that was served that we would eat. We did eat apples and sliced tomatoes from the lunch buffet but nothing else.
It's 62 degrees here right now and it rained a little overnight so the grass is too wet to cut. thus Jake is watching a golf tournament instead.
hugs
Barbie0 -
Hi everyone. I have the last of my clothes on the line and then I can pack. I have a load of towels in the dryer (the only thing I don't like on the line, they get too crunchy). I washed our sheets yesterday so I can leave a clean house. Well, not exactly clean. My hot spots need some attention but I likely won't attend to them until I get home. It is a great day for drying clothes, warm with a light breeze.
Barbie -- I think you need a nice bowl of chicken soup, lots of juice and water. You are wise to take some down time. I forgot to mention lots of sleep. Get well soon.
Marie -- Way to go on losing those pounds. I managed to shed another 1 and 1/2 pounds. Sounds like you had a great salad. Mmmm! I wasn't able to open your url.
Stay out of trouble everyone! Be back in a few days.
Keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Gayla........ Which one was that.? You know My menory don;t last too long on some things.
Have a good time. I have been posting my diet on Challenge Lighten up. I am the only one there Lot of lookers tho. I am going to used it as my Blog. It seems strange that it is still there. Been vacants for months, almost a year now.0 -
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/62132-low-carb-ers-challenge-to-choose-change
Gayla it didn' work for me either but this one did. They looked the same.......Marie0 -
Good Morning,
Expecting some rain today which will put a damper on our zoo plans. Think we will switch our plans to an indoor activity or just have a play date at my DIL. Tired today so not that excited about being with the kids today. Will feel better after my coffee and shower so I shouldn't complain before then.
Gayla, hope your trip is amazing and relaxing.
Marie, keep us informed about your new diet. Remember to take care of yourself. And I too would like to know if your legs are better after surgery?
Barbie, I hope your are feeling better today, but please go back to your routine slowly. Hope it is nice enough for Jake to get to the golf course.
Hope everyone else has a wonderful Monday.
Sandy0 -
Hi Sandy, Tomorrow is WI. I had a goal of 3 lbs for the week. I am almost there. But you never know about me. One day Ilose and the next day I will gain. I have been so good this week.
And no My legs are not much better. In fact today the calves of my legs are so sore I can hardly lift my leg up and have to be real careful about walking or I will stumble. And don't wont to do that. I am going to applique a T-shirt today. Keep busy so I wont eat too much. But I have been doing real well on my eating. And drinking plenty of water.
Have a fun day with your grandkids.
Hi Barbie,:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Hope you are feeling better now. I woke up with a dry mouth and a stopped up nose But I am fine now. Drinking plenty of water.
Hi Ellen Have a nice week end?
Barbs----Still walking?
 Jeffrey Busy busy? How the job hunting going.
To the rest of you Have a wonderful day
Marie0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
I set a new low with my step counter yesterday---3712 steps but I enjoyed the rest.
Today went to the doctor just to make sure that my symptoms weren't the beginning of pneumonia----they weren't.    I came home with an inhaler and some other stuff but no directions to stay home or stay in bed.   The best part was that the doctor scale said the same thing as my scale at home:bigsmile: and my blood pressure was lower than the last time at the doctor.
It rained today so no walks, grass cutting, or dog park.  Jake hopes to play golf tomorrow.
:flowerforyou: Gayla, congrats on losing more weight.
Time to watch TV and go to bed:bigsmile:
hugs
