Hi Ellen and Gayla. Send some of your cool air down here. Jerry has not got the A/C going yet. He also have not got the hot wate heater going yet. Having to heat water to wash dishes. Boy I do't think I could live the caveman life. And it got up to 94 today if not higher. We got fans gping on all over the house but it is just hot air. Would never have believe the hot water heater and the A/C woukd go out the same day. Poor Sammy been so hot he has not had a nap today. Callie has tho. That cat could sleep anywhere. At least we got lights and gas. But they don't keep you cool. I am running around in my bra and panties. Too hot for clothes.
Thats about it HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

:noway:
.......Barb -- I am right there with you on hating housework. I hate all of it and really miss having a cleaning girl come in. When Dave retired we decided we could manage without her. That was a terrible mistake. .........
Keep smiling. Gayla
Don't you mean, "we decided YOU could manage without her?" Unfortunately, it is too easy sometimes for husbands to agree to changes that won't really directly impact them--unless you have a one in a million guy who actually helps with housework without being chained to the dining room table!!:noway: :noway:  Maybe you should tell your family you want to find your cleaning lady in your Christmas stocking!!
Marie, so sorry to hear about your AC and water heater. If bad luck comes in three's, I don't want to imagine what could be next!!
Congrats on discovering that veggies :drinker: will correct your blood sugar as well as sweets. That is good info for the future!!
Ellen, Glad to hear the fires are finally in the past. You guys have had a tough fire season this year. I hope the rest of it is quiet.'
BTW, there is a McGrath's in Bend Oregon, so you probably did go there. I am ready to go back to the one in my town again. I do like my seafood. YUM!!
I actually worked in my kitchen today, getting rid of accumulated odds and ends, and putting together the recylcling, which is now in the back of my car, awaiting delivery to our centralized collection area for my condo complex. That will be the last task I do tonight before turning in.
I went to a church picnic today and managed to avoid major temptation, since all the desserts were gone by the time I got to that point, just some lemon sandwich cookies remained.
Yesterday, I walked all over everywhere at our county fair and managed to eat what I wanted without getting into any trouble.
I didn't walk this weekend, other than all over the fairgrounds, but I did not gain anything. So I still consider that a victory.:drinker: :drinker: My metabolism used to be so sluggish that a dinner out would produce a gain of 2 or 3 lbs that would not go away for several days.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Barb0 -
Good mornday all.
Hope you allhad a vovely weekend. I had a no cheat weekend but manage to put on a lb. I guess I am retaining all this heat. But I am not giving up the ship. This caveman diet work so good the first week but the second week not so good. Even tho I stay on it. Here is a saying:
1----To lose weight----eat till you just sart feeling full AND STOPPED EATING
2
To maintain---- eat till you are full
3
To gain eat after you are full.
I did not do any of the #3 to my knowledge.
It could be my old enemy WATER WEIGHt
I Didn't ddrink any shakes yesterday for I just have one or two servings left . My order is due in tomorrow. I may call around some of the health food stores and see if they have any.
Have a good day. Here's hoping Jerry get the A/C going today. As long as i got cold water I can make it. But so miseable with no Air. Poor little Sammy don't know what is going on. I stopped to call the AC amn.
I call our Air condiction man this morning About 30 minutes ago and he has just got here. I got tired of Jerry trail and error bit. Now he can work on the water heater. As long as I got cold water I can make it. Just give me my AC0 -
Happy Monday!!
Rainy here today and looks like a rainy week ahead. Glad we got to do our things with the kids in nice weather. :flowerforyou:
Marie, how awful to be without A/C during hot weather. You mentioned you are drinking a lot of water so maybe some of the weight gain is fluid. I wouldn't worry about it for one minute though, keep hydrated is more important than losing a pound when it is so hot. Hopefully, you AC man will fix it fast. Hope Jerry has luck with the water heater and gets it fixed. My husband is not handy, we call a handy man the minute anything breaks.
Ellen, glad the rain brought some fresh air and better breathing. Sorry for your loss of a good friend. It sounds like you will have a busy house with family coming, enjoy them and have fun.
Barb, I'm with you. I still have a cleaning lady and I am not giving her up for anything. You are doing great with your diet and exercise if you are not gaining. I think summer is hard with all the bar b ques and parties and outside activities. I have some will power but not as good as Barbie and Jake.
Gayla, sorry about your cold, hope you feel better soon. It is no wonder you are sick with some hot days and then days you need heat. Crazy weather. I am glad your knees are feeling better, I too have knee problems but take a lot of over the counter pills to help. When I sit at my computer for a long time and get up my knees and back are really stiff, but I won't let it stop me. :glasses: Exercising really helps but I have been lax on that during the summer.
Jeffrey, where are you??
Sandy0 -
Good evening to you all. This is a picture of my flower bed in the front of our house. This was taken a couple of years ago, it doesn't look so nice this year. The roses didn't get the attention they like so I have cut them back. They were nice in their prime but it is time for something new next spring.
Except for the sinus issues my cold is nearly over. Dave now has a cold, hope Neil doesn't pick it up.
I still have to do some dishes (the ones I don't like to go in the dishwasher) so I better get that done so I can think about going to bed. In fairness to Dave and the housecleaning, he does all the vacuuming and is the best vacuumer this house has ever seen. I made a very poor deal when we stopped the cleaning gal. I said if he would vacuum I would do the rest. Not sure where my head was when I suggested that!! Oh well, it is what it is.
Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Happy Tuesday Everyone!
It has been a real zoo here for the last couple of weeks. Sam has gone back to college, Amanda hit a large "item" with her car on the interstate in Atlanta and ruined her air condidtioner, Day's mom has had issues, and her brother also. I get to handle most of the items! Lucky me! The job search is still going. I have made some salsa the other day, about 3 gallons, that was pretty mild but very good. The garden is still going strong. Yesterday we got right a 6" of rain. Fort Wayne has flooding everywhere this morning, but all is good here. We really needed the rain.
I have managed to get my work outs in. I have picked up the pace a bit and it seems to be paying off. Outside of the family stuff, life is pretty good!
Calie I hope you get your AC back!
Lafla we have a deal for housework here. I do it! LOL
Sandy we went to the new Fire Keepers Casino the opening weekend. Did just so so. It is nice but it was real crowded. Whats new up your way?
Gayla I hope your cold gets better.
Weaklink, I cook, clean, do housework, can veggies, laundry right down to her hand wash! LOL (I also and not working right now so that is my contribution.) Usually I fix her a hot breakfast and pack her lunch too. LOL I need to get back to work!
Ellen are the fires all out?
Well thats about it for now. I am going to go for a bike ride and see how high the river is and then make some blueberry scones today. Everyone have a great day!
Jeffrey0 -
Jeffrey So glad to hear from you. Sorry about all the crisis in your family. Hope everyone pulls thru OK.
We got the A/C fix. After having them out 4 times yesterday. It was really nice sleeping last night. This Texas heat without A?C is h.... But we survive it.
Jerry is still working on the hot water heater. May have to call a plb. out here before it is over with.
I am heading out to the Doc this mornring to see how my blood work turn out.
Going to get my fall garden in hopefully today.
Got to run to Walmart to get Ptres. in for my colomscopy Monday. Oh what fun.
See you guys later
Marie0 -
Quiet here today. I slept late this morning. I need to get to bed earlier!!! I think the sinus problem may be a bit better today after a long, hot shower. Both Dave and I did a lot of coughing last night so not sure how much sleep either of us got. Dave says he is feeling ok but he hasn't gone out to the shop yet which is a clear sign he isn't feeling great. He works on the boat every day. He wants to get it painted before winter comes. It looks like it will be ready to go in the water next summer. It will be nice to get some sailing in and I know the girls are excited about it. We haven't seen much of our kids this summer. My sons' inlaws have been here a lot working on their rental houses so the kids have been helping on the weekends. Now the bil/sil are here from California so they are busy entertaining and having a lot of fun I expect. I am glad they all get along so well. Neil has been missing them but will be seeing more of them soon. Of course, I miss them too but I understand about time where as Neil does not. Neil has been doing great. Still averaging only one or two seizures a day and generally small ones. I just want to give the new Doc a big hug. It is so wonderful to have our son back.
Jeffrey -- Sounds like life has been a bit overwhelming lately. I hope it gets down to a dull roar soon! I think I should send Dave down for a course in housework. We did make jelly together a few years ago and he was a big help. I was too lazy to pick the berries off the trees this year. The ones I would really like to get are the pincherries but the birds eat the berries before they are ripe. Crazy birds! It does make wonderful jelly.
Marie -- Glad your a/c is fixed. I am sure you are much more comfortable. I hope the bloodwork is great. Ugh to the colonoscopy. I think mine must be coming up soon. I don't mind the test part but I sure hate the prep!!!
Must be a lot of busy people today. Hope you are having fun with whatever you are doing. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Hi Gayla,, Never heard of those berries. I am not a canner. Never canned nothing in my life. We were raised in a Grocer store. Always had plenty of food around and meat and chicken on Sunday. My mother work in the grocer store too.
Well I gained .08 of a lb. this morning. After all my hard work of trying to lose. But had a good lost last week.So maybe next week.
We have another hot day here. Be glad when you Canadians send us some of your cool air down thiway.
Gayla did you see Linette wedding pictures on her Daily Dairy. She look like she has lost a lot of weight. James is a nice looking guy.
I think I will have chicken and brocolli tonight. Good healty meal.
How is the Gang?

Hello to all,
:flowerforyou: Jeffrey---wow, you have had a pile of stuff to deal with, no wonder we haven't heard from you in awhile. Your family is so blessed to have you there to take care of them.
I went to the doctor yesterday for my yearly checkup and all was good. she was impressed with my low cholesterol but I had to point out the weight loss.    I only see her once a year so she doesn't know me that well.
We spent a few hours today with our friends from Montana. They are in Tacoma for a few weeks for their daughter's wedding. We met at a central location so each of us only had to drive an hour to meet. We met at a big mall. We walked and talked for awhile and then walked to Red Robin for lunch. There was only one thing on the menu that looked like something I could eat
grilled chicken breast with salsa and salad. It came with two chicken breasts. Jim ate both of his but I brought one home. Nathalie and Genny came to the house and groomed the dogs while we were gone so we didn't have to worry about how long we were gone. They brought Sasha's mother with them. She looks just like Sasha only bigger.
Time for dinner, better a short post than nothing at all
hugs,

Beth so good to hear from you. Good luck on your run. Be rootin for you............ Marie0

It's Wednesday!
Barbie Happy 50! Keep on going! I am very proud of you and happy for you!
Beth, Congrats on the 38 pounds! And thank you for all that you are doing. You all are never out of my thoughts.
Sandy, enjoy the day!
PJ, you traveling again soon?
Gayla, take care of the legs. Don't let them get too sore without seeing you Dr.
Marie, don't sweat the little bit of weigh gain. Just get back to doing what you were doing when it was coming off. It's get harder, I know. Keep a good frame of mind, physically that will help a lot too. You have made great progress with a couple of set backs. I still think you are doing wonderful!
Well, the "family" was quiet yesterday. Probably just the eye of the storm to come! LOL I made my blueberry scones yesterday. They came out pretty good. Now I have to stay out of them! I have a couple of job interviews by phone with 2 different firms. One in Memphis and one in Detroit. They have both gone very well. We would not have to move for either position. I would work out of my home office which I like to do and then travel a lot. That is ok with me! I am just ready to get back to work. Today I am cleaning the hot tub and doing a little maintenance on it. Pretty slow day.
Take care everyone!
Jeffrey0 -
Hi everyone! I just got back from picking Neil up from his job (volunteer) at the Food Bank. He loves working there and they are very good to him. We have had rain for days, several inches which is a lot for us. Thankfully no flooded yet. The sump pump seems to be doing its job.
Barbie-- Good job on bringing that cholesterol down. You could be the poster girl on lowering cholesterol. It is always so nice to catch up with old friends. Sounds like fun.
Beth -- It is always so nice to hear from you. Good luck on the marathon. I know you can do it!
Marie -- What's up in Texas?
Jeffrey -- I hope you land one of those jobs. Sounds perfect. You always keep yourself so buys, makes me feel very lazy. My legs are feeling pretty good. I went for a walk yesterday when we had a short sunny break and the legs were tired but not sore. It was not a long walk comared to the rest of the gang here but long enough for me, 20 minutes at a moderate pace. The wind blowing towards me made it a bit more of a struggle but coming back was nice.
Have a great day everyone and keep smiling. Gayla
Hmm. just noticed this is my 100th post!0 -
Not a thing is going on here in texas, but hot, hat weaher.
!00 post. Thats great Gayla, so glad you are over here. Our little friend Phoebe ought to be getting back in town soon.
Barbie you are just amazing. Hey see you ate out the other day. You can find decent food if you want to. But I know its better to cook your own then you know what you are getting. Walmart doess carry some low sodiumTurkey, beef and ham in their deli. It has a litlle over 300 sodium for 2 Oz and 60 calories. But it is Processed But nothing like the regular kind. I have been buying some because it is just too hot to cook. I put some of Walden Farms Brbecue sauce on my turkey today and it was so good. It has zero caloriea and carbs.
Barbs , Are you waling around the world?
Sandy , Where are you?
Sure miss Eli.
Ellen Haven't seen much of you either.
Jeffrey is popping up more.
Nice to hear from Beth today.
Phoebe, Hope you get home soon and get to stay a little longer.
Hello to all the rest of you.
Jerry hasn't got our Hot water heater going yet. Good thing it is hot or my showers would be cold ones. It is a little cool. but not too bad. Thanks goodness for the Central Air.Its doing just fine now.
Have a nice day
Marie0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
It is hot here, not like it is for some of you, but we have no air conditioning and we're good at dealing with cold, not heat. The dogs lasted barely 20 minutes at the dog park before they went to lie down in the shade under the tree.
:flowerforyou: Jeffrey, I am thinking good thoughts about you getting a good job. You have been so patient for so long and have made good use of your time off. How wonderful it would be if you were able work from home. Of course, you wouldn't be able to ride your bike to work:laugh:
:flowerforyou: Gayla, I'm so sorry to hear that your legs are still giving you problems. It seems like you're finding the balance in your walking.
:flowerforyou: Marie, don't lose faith. Stick with your new diet and drink lots of water and I bet you'll see results. I'm glad you got your air conditioning fixed. I guess being without hot water isn't quite as bad in the hot weather. It's so hard to find good stuff to eat in hot weather.
:flowerforyou: Beth, it's so good to hear from you. I can't imagine running a half marathon. I wish you luck. About the farthest I run is half a block.. High elevation always gets to me. I remember the first time I was somewhere in the mountains and I ran up the stairs in the hotel and was terribly winded and it scared me because I thought I was in better shape and then I remembered the elevation and was so relieved.
It was too hot today to go for a walk except to walk the dogs.
hugs to all
Barbie0 -
Good Morning Everyone!!
Miss one day and you miss a lot.
Jeffrey, you sound like the backbone of your family. I hope in helping everyone that you also help yourself. You have to take care of yourself and make yourself happy before anyone else. Good luck with the job interviews, I too will say a prayer that you land one of those jobs. There were big storms and tornados all around us yesterday, but our weather was fairly calm. I was driving to bingo and it started raining hard to I decided to turn around and stay home. As it turned out I probably could have gone, but it was nice to just stay home for a change. Where is the new casino that you mentioned in your post? Is it farther away from me or closer? How did you do there?
Gayla, congratulations on your 100th post. We are a chatty bunch aren't we? Hope the rain stops soon and you can enjoy some sunshine. :flowerforyou:
Barbie, if you are not used to hot weather it is awful, my son in Portland was miserable with those 100 degree days they were having. :ohwell: Glad your dogs are smart enough to let you know when they have had enough.
Marie, glad you got your AC fixed, now maybe Jerry has to admit he needs a repairman for the water heater. Good for you that you are eating healthy and staying good to the program. :flowerforyou:
Beth, a marathon?? Wow, I give you credit, the one thing I can not do is run. Good luck and keep training, we will be cheering you on from the side lines.
Meeting today and then puppy class tonight. Daisy is doing well except now she wants to jump up on the table and counters. She is getting big so she can get anything off the counter or table if she is not put down. Will ask in class how to fix that problem. I give her time outs, but my husband hates to hear her cry. (it is only for a few minutes no big deal).
Have a great Thursday, hope we all have some sunshine.
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Hi Sandy, sure missed you yesterday. Seems like you had a busy day. But you are always on the run. Have fun my lady. But don't wear yourself out.
Barbiecat----Well the plbs. are here now working on the hot water heater. So maaybe today I will have hot water and take a warm shower. Gosh I missed my hot showers.
Gayla, I am so glad Neil is having an easier time of it now. and I know you and Dave are. Has he said anymor aout wanting his own place. I know he miss his brothers. But when you get married you have to share with the In-Laws. And keeping their homes up/ They are luky to have Dave to help them.
Jeffrey, The best of luck in your job search. That is what my son do . He works out of his home and do a lot of traveling. He called the other morning and he was at Dallas- Ft. Worth Airport with a 20 minutes lay over. Going to Monroe La. Wish he had time for a visit. Its at least a 30 minutes to the Airport from here.
All the rest of you have a nice day.
Marie0 -
Goof morning. I need some help, I lost my tickers a couple weeks ago and can't get it back on. It says my ticker is complete and i need to copy and paste. I copy it but it don't tell me where to paste my code. . Could some one help me. Marie0
-
:flowerforyou: Marie--here's how to fix your signature
Go to "my home"
then "settings"
then "change forum signature"
paste your new ticker code on the forum signature and add whatever else you want
We have been very busy but sticking to our plan---including at the county fair, the home of food temptation:laugh:
hugs,
Barbie0 -
thanks Barbie, Now I need to know how to get my ticker back on. I lost it a couple weeks ago when I update my weight. Now it tells me my ticker is complete but it is not showing up. What do I do now?0
-
Hi Everyone,
Believe it or not I am staying home today. I plan of working on my pictures and putting them on DVD's. I am so far behind that I am working on 2005. I just don't know where the time goes. :noway:
Marie, go to your profile, click on tools, update your ticker then save changes. It should automatically change and come back on your post. Be sure to close the topics and reopen them to see your ticker.
Glad you are getting your hot water heater fixed, I would hate to take a cold or even lukewarm shower.
Barbie, you sound as busy as I have been, it will be nice to just stay home and do your normal things wont it? Have fun at the fair.
Our weather is iffy, cool but chance of rain. It feels wonderful to open the doors and windows and get some fresh air. :flowerforyou:
Have a good Friday.
Sandy0 -
thanks, I got it all work out. I copy all the instructions in case I lose it again.
Sandy, Enjoy your day at home. It is so nice to have a free day at home. . I have a bunch of appt coming up. I go to get my colonoscopy
Momday. so a liquid diet tomorrow and URG That nasty gallon of meds.
One of the girls on this low carb thread I go to Has a 3 wheel bike that she rides. She had weight surgery and have to get a lot of exercise in. I think she was right at 270 lbs when she had that done. She posted a picture of her on it. So I think I will get mine out and see what I can do. I think I have had plenty of time to get ready for it. I will get a picture posted. soon.0 -
Hi everyone! We have had a gorgeous day today! We took Neil in for his bath and then back to get his shoe adjusted once again. The darn blister just does not want to go away. He does still talk about moving out but in a positive way. I hope it works out as well as he anticipates. There is a very long waiting list for group homes so not sure when this will happen. He gets his medical for the application on Monday. I should have done it sooner but it just seemed easier to combine it with this pre-op medical appointment. Next week he meets with the anesthetist and the surgery is on the 9th.
I guess I better get some dinner going. I am heating up some soup from the freezer so not too difficult a job. I wish I would have got the breadmaker going but we would have just eaten too much then. The diet is going good this week. I did weigh and was happy that after our little holiday I didn't gain, didn't lose either but not gaining on a holiday was encouraging.
Marie -- Good luck with the colonoscopy. The test is a breeze after the prep (as you know). I will be thinking about you. I do need to call and see when mine is coming up, it feels like it should be soon.
Sanday -- Enjoy your day to yourself.
Have a good weekend everyone. Gayla0 -
Happy Saturday!!
Gayla, did I mention how beautiful your roses are? And I love the brick flower and/or vegetable garden containers. Did you build them or have them built? Looks like you have a beautiful home, I hope you enjoy it. I love summer when all the flowers are in bloom. :flowerforyou: Hope Neil meets his expectations and gets to be on his own if that is what he really wants. I am sure you would miss him, but you deserve some time to yourself if he can manage on his own.
Marie good luck on your test tomorrow. I am sure we won't be hearing much from you today. I think you might be pre-occupied with other "duties".
Not much going on today, I am really obsessed with face book and the different games they have.
My husband thinks I am attached to my computer chair since I am never out of it.
Have a good day everyone.
Sandy0 -
Sandy I goof up Its tomorrow I start my prep. I was thinking this was Sunday. I get to eat today. I had cheese toast this morning. I got me one of those digetal food scales and I love it. I am start
ing back on the old timey WW diet. So I just lay my bread on the scales punch a button and it take me back to 000 then I can add my 1 oz of cheese on the bread. love it. So much easier to used.
Gayla. I'm not doing so good on my trike. I crashed into Jerry flower bed this morning but the bike stay up right and I didn't fall. But scare me. I think I will go back to my walker. but I can tell it really work my legs. A girl on the low carb thread I am posting on has one, but she is younger than me. She had a weight lost surgery and need to get exercise in. She weigh 270 lbs. and losing really good. Our side street is like an old county road We have no sidewalk or gutters and the street slopes off on both side and i get off balance. The road in front of the house is in better shape. But too busy for me to ride on it. She has it on her avatar and I wanted to post me on mine, But I give that up, Just get Jerry to take a picture me and my walker.
Sandy ---Gayla does have a beautiful yard. I have a picture of her back yard after one of their blizzard a few years back. Never seen so much snow. It was beautiful. She works hard at it. Your back yard is pretty also.0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Yesterday was our friends' wedding. I finally got to wear the new dress that I bought. I posted a picture of the dress. The wedding was simple----bride, groom, judge, two witnesses, me, and the cat. After the ceremony we went out to dinner. I think I have finally learned how to read the whole menu, ask all the right questions, and order the right stuff. There was a bottle of Martinelli's sparkling cider to drink to toast the happy couple. I asked to see the bottle and read aloud all the stuff about the award winning apples and read to myself the calorie count before deciding how much I would drink. i ordered grilled salmon without the lemon butter and tartar sauce, steamed veggies without the butter, and salad with dressing on the side. Jake ordered the same thing. It was delicious, the company was great, and there were no aftershocks on the scale.
:flowerforyou: Marie, I hope you can find a flat road or a sidewalk to ride your trike. It will be fun for you once you can find the right place.
:flowerforyou: Gayla, I love your yard.
:flowerforyou: Sandy, there was an article in the AARP magazine recently about being a Facebook addict.  Jake goes on Facebook a lot but I haven't tried it. I can barely keep up with MFP. I love the new picture of you and Daisy.
We're working at the fair again today so I have to get all my chores done early.
hugs,
Barbie0 -
Barbie, look at you , you look beautiful!! Did you feel glamorous in your new dress and size? You and Jake are so focused you don't even cheat at a wedding, what will power. Have fun at the fair and don't work too hard.
Marie, I do that often getting my days mixed up. Must feel good to know you can eat today and not have to worry about tomorrow until tomorrow. You be careful on that trike, if your streets are too bumpy than save it for another place. Maybe you and Jerry can take a ride to a parking lot when it is empty and you can ride it there. Otherwise forgedaboutit. Your health is more important and we don't want any broken bones or messed up flower beds. :flowerforyou:
Had a problem with my computer, it wouldn't restart and I thought I might go into with drawl. I even called my son in Portland who is a computer troubleshooter and he suggested I call one in my area. He did give me a few suggestions and finally it started in the bios screen. Whew, my husband was laughing because he knows I am addicted to my computer.
Time for lunch.
Sandy0 -
Hey look at Sexy Barbiecat in her new dress. You look just wonderful. All trimed up. I know Jake is proud of his Bride.0
