ive had a baby my stomach is a bit flawed and i still feel sexy in my bikini this year even with a little curve.. only the young guys are unreasonable enough to expect perfection. my fiance is 58 he says small flaws show character and life and arent even really noticeable.. I prefer that attitude...

Even at my heaviest I still wore a bikini, because no matter how big I got I still liked my tummy more than my legs. For me, covering up my tummy would have been drawing attention to my legs, and I couldn't stand the idea of it.

Agreed.. now a monokini also very sexy... anyone can wear a one piece...

Yep, Tori Spelling was shown wearing a black crocheted one. She looked totally amazing and pregnant too!

a bikini to me just means im confident enough that i no longer feel the need to cover myself up. i want that even though my body will probably never be perfect by my standards. haha

ask the majority of guys their first thought when they see a woman in a bikini and it's probably 'wow' as opposed to 'i wish she was wearing a one piece'

So, according to the guys if you wear a bikini and are confident then you are sexy?

So what about all of us mommies out there with not so perfect bellies but we are confident and feel sexy in a bikini, is it the same?

Or do you have to actually be fit and perfectly toned to pull it off?

Nothing should stop a mommy from being fit and toned!

    agreed!!

Confidence is sexy. So rocking a bikini with a fit body on top of it... super sexy. To be honest, I have never seen a sexy one piece. Unless it is one piece of a bikini on my bedroom floor.

    ^^ ha! love it :blushing:

I remember many years ago (2003-2004.. somewhere around that time), I was heavier than I am now and I wore a bikini. Of course, that was pre-children. My body wasn't excellent and I still had stretch marks, but I didn't care.... my stomach was a bunch flatter and less lopsided from being all smashed around by the little fellas that live at my house.

These days, I'm still not where I want to be, but I put my bikini on the other day just to see and have some extra 'before' pics. I didn't feel as confident as I could have, but I know one day I will. I'll rock out in a bikini with my unusually small chest and my stretch marks and what ever is left of my sagging skin and see how that feels then. For now, these pics are my BEFOREs. :)

Better than a kick in the eye in my humble opinion.

A bikini is soooo much easier to pull down and go pee than a one piece. I pee a lot.

Bahahaha but I have a tankini and I can pull the bottoms down lol. I will never wear a one piece ever again, I hate one pieces.

Not all bodies work well in one piece suits. Even at my thinnest, I do not look good in a one piece because of my bubble butt. The material at the arch of my back, well it never touches, so I have this open space. So, when I am not bikini worthy (during the posing baby weight process) I will wear a tankini.

Also, even though my tummy is not as pretty as it used to be before I had 6 kids, I still wear a bikini because I tan very very easily...even with 50 SPF...and I do not want to have my body white and then my arms, legs, and round circle on my back brown. I would not feel sexy naked in front of my husband.

    Bikini > One Piece

Agree.....bikini = very attractive and says, " I am confident in how I look"

Disagree... they may say " I am confident in how I look" But not always attractive.

Ok I just want to point something out.

I think people should be a little careful about correlating confidence/sexy with a swimsuit. I know its an opinion thing, and I respect mostly everyone's opinions (besides there is no logic behind this, its all about how one feels), but it really gripes me when I see men correlate the two together. A swimsuit and fitting into one is NOT always a sign of confidence and it doesnt ALWAYS correlate to sexy.

ANYWAY, there are a million one piece swimsuits out there that are insanely hot. Go look at AmericanApparels one piece swimsuits. I've noticed in most stores one pieces are actually pretty popular right now. Just saying.

I just think its a symbol of being really lean/fit/thin/healthy or whatever. Most people want to "look good naked' and a bikini is sort of the next best thing. As someone else said, there is nothing to hide and no excuses. In a way I guess its just the "ultimate goal" for some people.

I'm with you. No matter my weight, I just don't like bikinis. To me it's no different than walking around in a bra and underwear. But they do have cute boy shorts for girls I want to get next summer. I don't need to show all my skin to feel sexy.

    I'm with you !!!

My profile says my goal is to look good in a two piece, even though I really only wear swimsuits during two weeks of the year when I am on vacation. It's an "easy" goal to have and articulate.
  • Hate to say it, but many I see that feel like they FINALLY MADE IT into THE bikini should not have.

As they really, really, really don't have the body to pull it off.

One would like to think that the body is beautiful in all its shapes and sizes.

But, some bodies are just not beautiful squeezed together by a few tiny strings and triangles of fabric.

Some bodies are more enhanced by more coverage with clothing.

It is important to know which category you fit in and dress for success.

I'd like to be the body shape I'd feel confident in a bikini in.

But I'm ginger, burn quicker than you can say "oh, it's not overcast", so if I did buy one I'd need a hot chap present to apply industrial quantities of suncream to me, and, well, given those circumstances, making it outside drops down the to-do list rather!

Yeah, I don't get it either. Quite frankly I feel like a bunch of girls together in bikinis look like a blob of skin to me - all the same. Maybe I don't oogle individuals enough?

I'm way more impressed by an open back tankini top, or maybe a cropped one, with some cute short shorts. Still shows enough skin for everyone to know you're in good shape, but leaves enough to the imagination that it doesn't look skimpy and/or cliche. Demonstrating fitness and style without baring all is always impressive to me.

yea, I tried the one-piece suits, even the cute designer one with the sides cut out and they do NOT look cute on me. My stomach is too short for them, I guess, but it just looks weird on me. I'll stick with my bikini's, because I feel better in them, personally.

 The bikini is a fasinating piece of fashion. Society deems wearing a bikini in public is a norm; however, society would deem wearing a "2 piece" bra and panty set in public indecent even though some bikinis are more revealing than under garments. Try to figure out that one. And if wearing a bikini signifies physical fitness and sex appeal, then there are alot of sick people out there who design bikinis and let their children at a young age wear one. Where is the line drawn?

one pieces can be just a sexy. it is all about the person wearing it, and I'm not just talking about looks it a definite confidence thing.

that being said Me and my bro that look a little like the dude from the hangover might do a swimsuit calendar and we will most likely have bikinis in it so I need to get working harder

Again, which bikini is everyone referring to when they say "THE bikini"? A particular style of bikini, or is there one specific bikini out there that you're referring to? I need to get to the bottom of this!

I get that confidence is sexy
BUT, I guess, and maybe I am too picky but I think the majority of people that wear a bikini SHOULD NOT
    Ok I said it
    :indifferent: :glasses:

Thank you for saying it. I have tons of confidence, and rock a one piece. I just chose to gross out the world with my stretch marks.

I'm covered in stretch marks but still wear a bikini.. People can be grossed out if they want lol

But u look amazin! Ur abs will distract away from them! Even tho I dont see any. I hope to have abs like urs one day so I can wear a 2 piece.

Right! I would never let my baby girl wear these 2 pieces they make.

They are down right to revealing, and the thought that men put with a bikini, no way.

I agree with this. Some women have a great shape even though they are bigger ladies and they really can pull off a two piece, but after spending last summer watching my kids at the pool I will say most people should not.

When I am at my fittest I still never wore a bikini because I have stretch marks and imo they don't look good. On anyone. Ever.

There are a couple of reasons why I like bikinis as one swimwear option - for one, I grew up in a country where EVERYONE wears them, from toddlers to little old ladies. There was very little sense of shame or fear of being judged by people for wearing bikinis, because that's just... what you wear. I loved that, and have had some culture shock when I moved to the US and found out that it's generally relegated to hot girls. In a way, it makes me sad, because it creates a shame structure (who should wear vs. who shouldn't wear) that a lot of us now struggle with. I usually wear bikinis anyway, but in the past few years have felt really self conscious and worried about what people think of me in it.

The thing is, my bikinis offer more support up top than the one pieces that I've found (and can afford), and I feel like I look better in them than your typical one-piece. There are some sexy one-pieces out there, especially right now with the whole pin-up style coming back, but it seems like one-pieces generally emphasize the things on me that I don't want emphasized, and make me look bigger than I am. I work to be modest and wear suits that actually DO cover what I want covered, so that doesn't bother me as much.

I think for a lot of people, "getting back into THE bikini" is about conquering and overcoming something from their personal lives. There's confidence and sexiness sure, but I think that comes anytime someone conquers something and feels amazing about it, and themselves - whether it's wearing a bikini, or rocking a one-piece, running a 5k, or whatever.

Out of curiosity, would yall consider this a bikini? one-piece? monokini? And, sexy or not sexy?

The bikini is the confirmation that you CAN look darn good in one. It is sort of a symbol of fit and sexy to many women, myself included! If you can go from cowering under your towel to strutting your stuff in a bikini, then it is quite an accomplishment.
Mind you, you can do the same wearing a cute pair of skinnies or even a nice form fitting dress - I think the fact that the bikini leaves so little to the imagination, exposing so much flesh, means that you can't hide behind it at all, no excuses!

    :)

THIS. Plus, in a bikini, especially the one i wore this weekend, I drew attention to my kick-*kitten* abs and upper body, instead of a one piece showing off my pear shaped sadle bags by having a solid color of spandex around my abs and this stark pasty white butt hanging out of my one piece. I would rather draw attention to my upper body, and the bikinis I have do just that. I honestly think I look better in a bikini now than I ever did or will in a one piece. Plus they're easier to use the facilities with......
