Ok, I am probably going to offend some, but it’s not my intention.

However, I just don't get it. There has never been a good argument presented to me why someone would want to eat a dead animal. I figure because whenever I ask “why”, the silly carnivores almost always get offended.

    So why?

And please remove all of the “I like my meat rare” answers. That stuff is just nasty.

It tastes great. Besides that...........I try to stay away from Soy.....As a vegetarian......How would you suggest getting 180+ grams of protein in without eating meat or soy? for around 2k cals?

XSport Fitness 100% Whey Protein - 60 grams for 3 scoops... egg whites for breakfast 12 grams... greek yogurt 12 grams ... assorted nuts 6 grams... protein bar - 30 grams ... fake meat substitutes 12-20 grams each... IDK how I do it, but I am over on protein everyday. I am pretty sure my diary is open if you are really curious and not just being a meany.
Morningstar Farms meat substitute is made of soy...

quorn products have protein and are not made with soy, I try not to overdue it on soy so these make a great alternative

If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made of food? hmmm?

and again technically that makes you food too doesn't it? Hmmmm? You can jump on that spit as well, I am sure you would be just delish with some BBQ sauce and Malt Vinegar, topped with some coleslaw on a healthy whole wheat bun.

Ok, now you're making me hungry.

I think Dennis Leary says it best. "eating meat is an instinct, not eating meat is a choice"

I like to eat meat. But sometimes I eat some soy protein too. I grew up in cattle country. Eating meat was the norm. It not for everybody. Bless you:happy:

Seitan gets my vote! Similar nutritional profile to grilled boneless, skinless chicken breast, versatile and delicious! No soy here!

I eat Mornignstar Farms... but there is also a brand called Quorn that is soy free. I really like their "grilled chicken"

"Meat substitutes" are still made of processed crap no matter how you look at them. Do I eat them on occasion? Sure, but to live off them....you're better off eating real grass fed, organic meat.

Where I come from, we have yearly rituals to kill animals and eat them.

I used the knife on an animals throat around the age of 11. I have been cutting animals into smaller pieces helping my brothers and father since like 7.

I don't judge vegeterians. Vegeterians in Asia (The original vegeterians) don't judge me. They know that everybody is different and they respect them for it.

As to why would anyone enjoy eating meat? Why would anyone enjoy eating plants? Plants are living organisms too. Just because they don't have cute faces and eyes don't mean they're not living creatures

I grew up on a farm. We were dairy, and then we went to beef and pork. I would welcome these baby animals in, feed them, care for them, and then eventually escort them on to the trailer for their last ride. I ate meat from the time I got teeth, and didn't know of 'vegetarians' until I was older, and I was immediately confused by why someone would choose to do that. Now, if you ask my grandfather, he'd probably say something along the lines of, "vegetarians, huh? those goddamn hippies are ruining this country!" Me? I'm not nearly as close minded. I get it, I do. It's a personal choice to stand up for what you think is right, and eat what you want to eat, and I think that's awesome. I eat meat because I enjoy it, and it provides a significant amount of protein that my body needs. I do not judge, or dislike vegetarians, but I certainly dislike ANYONE that will try to force their beliefs down others throats. You don't want to eat meat? That's fine. Don't. I respect your decision. It's when people get all righteous and start trying to convince others that their way is the best way, and we should all conform to it. It's not right, and it's not fair.

So. Why do I eat meat? I enjoy it. It's been the way of my personal life for as long as I've known it. I expect your answer to 'why DON'T you eat meat?' to be close to the same.

It's actually not that hard - dairy and all it's derivatives plus seitan and other meat alternatives

However, in answer to the question - and I am a vegetarian for ethical reasons - it tastes good

My friend had gauged ears and one of them tore, so he fried up his ear piece and ate it. Mother trucker ate himself. I also knew a girl in highschool that ate herself. She would pick off acne scabs in class and eat them. Self-cannibalism at its best.

In short, the only way for human beings to get our complete nutritional table is from an omnivorous diet consisting of both plant and animal based foods. Plant based proteins lack amino acids and many vitamins needed for our bodies to functional well and into old age. There is no such thing as a plant based source of Vitamin B12 (which the only way to get proper dosage of through supplementation is by a shot--orally won't do) or Creatine. Essentially, we are only able to survive healthily off of plant-based sources through supplementation alongside our normal diet.

I get the feeling that I'm talking to a wall here though as hinted at by the fact that you chose to refer to omnivorous people (creatures who eat both plant and animal based foods) as carnivores (creatures who feed solely off of meat). This is generally the telltale sign that you're dealing with someone who will not listen to reason or scientific research and that you're wasting your time by even talking to them. It is the very obvious sign that you are dealing with a fanatic about their vegetarian or vegan lifestyle who has chosen to take it to a level most religious zealots take their religion to. Fanaticism is pointless to argue with.

You may think it is barbaric but honestly it all depends on how you are raised and then, when you become an adult, the life choices you make for yourself. Personally, love eating animals. And at the risk of sounding like a total heathen I actually kill them myself as well. The looks I get when I tell people that I can field dress and butcher a deer are a constant source of humor for me. I mostly eat fish and chicken but I'll never turn down pork or beef if it is cooked and seasoned properly. Hands down though, my favorite red meat is Venison, it is lean, better for you than beef, and when cooked right you can't tell that it isn't beef (other than it tastes better and when cooked it is a lighter color).

But to boil it down, who cares? Meat is tasty, veggies are tasty, fruit is tasty, grains are tasty, dairy is tasty... Why shouldn't I eat them in moderation?

Because eating a live animal would just be messy.

Why is there even a discussion? Why is it so hard for a vegetarian to accept that not everyone would like to subscribe to the same world image?
