Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were Yin, Walking, Cathe STS 2.0 Mobility 2 and Jessica Smith-1 Mile Walk. I definitely feel tired the day after a strength workout. I'm also a little sore, which is a good thing.
I forgot to tell you that during the last two strength workouts I didn't turn the ceiling fan on like I normally do. I decided to be brave like Laurel and take the heat! LOL. I normally don't sweat too much but these workouts make me sweat. I even dripped a whole drop of sweat from my head onto the floor! LOL That was a first for me, but it happened both days.

It looks like we're in for a hot and humid spell for the next two weeks. We'll basically be in the high 80's except for 7/1 which will be in the low 90's. It also means chances of thunderstorms almost every day. I don't like this weather at all! There are still 200 homes without power.

Laurie, great workout and congrats for keeping up with Cathe's weight! Fantastic progress!

We are glad we didn't have any damage in our property. We had no idea about the tree that almost missed the garage. DH saw it when he took the dogs for a walk on the road that runs parallel to ours. People are posting pictures of the damage on FB and it was pretty bad. There were some cars that got totally crushed by trees falling on them. Thankfully the cars were empty.
I am so glad Rocket did well at his new doggy daycare once he saw his little friends!

Laurel, great workouts! I really like the Mobility 2 workout.
Like I was telling Laurie, people have posted pictures of these massive down trees. The clay soil is the reason why trees here have such shallow root systems.
It sounds like we had one of those catastrophic thunderstorms you had before!
Our weather guy says they are called MSCs - Mesoscale Convective System. He thinks we might get another one on Thursday night and the weekend.
A friend of mine how was born and raised here says that she doesn't remember a storm like this since she was young and she is in her 60's now.
I hope the weather guy is wrong about the possibility of more MSCs hitting our area. I don't think people's hearts can take it.

Thank God our road was cleared. DH asked the guys to take away the tree pieces because our road is too narrow to just leave them on the side of the road like they had done. They took them away thankfully!
I am sure our neighbor appreciated DH's help because he is not in good physical shape at all. This is the second tree that falls in their property in two years. The first time they were away, and the tree landed on a trailer they have. DH went there to check on their property and somehow moved the tree.
Sounds like we're going to have the same hot weather system, but you'll be warmer. I was just checking the daily weather and one day said the highest temp will be 85 but the real feel temp will be 91!!! Time to get the fan ready for the chickens and frozen water bottles to keep their water cool.

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

Yesterday we had such bad smoke from Canada, my eyes where watering all day. We are fairly close to the ballpark where the Brewers play, and you couldn't even see it. This morning doesn't seem as bad, but the smoke is still there.

My workouts this morning where 2.0 Mobility 1 / Standing Abs: Metabolic Core Warm Up. Something I'm observing so far. The first phase I could see a difference in my body, but no weight change. So far this phase I can see more changes to the body, but I have also lost 2 lbs without really doing any changes to my diet. I did up the protein, maybe that makes a difference. <3 Just really happy with how things are moving, I've felt that I have been in a plateau for a long time.

Laurel, Nice job with the workouts, and finding a spin that works as a recovery workout. My knees are appreciating this type of work. Thanks for the information on the tubing. Some of the exercises I don't mind the tubing, but I usually tend to like the barbell or dumbbells more. Cathe usually has the tubing all set up, and I'm saying dang I forgot about that. :D

Thelma, Great job with the workouts! LOL about not turning on the fan, and sweating. Those total body workouts really do make you work hard. Sounds like a really hot couple of weeks ahead for you. We are just hoping that the wind starts to blow in a different direction so that we don't have this smoke haze for the 4th. Nice that your DH was there to help your neighbor with the tree. I'm surprised that the guys took the tree pieces, around here you have to pay or deal with it yourself. :D

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Trisets Total Body and Cathe Live HiiT It, Strike It and Crunch It. I can’t say that the Trisets workout felt a whole lot better than it did last week, but it did feel a little more manageable this week. I tried to add some weight throughout (just 1 or 2 lbs), and it felt pretty good. I definitely was not shaking as much at the end like I was last week. I will be curious how this workout feels next Monday after a two day break.

Thelma, great workouts. Congratulations on braving the heat! I wish I only ever dropped one bead of sweat. :# But my fan is probably going to come on Friday. Tomorrow we have a heat warning with the heat index being upwards of 117 degrees, and Friday, when doing Giant Sets Total Body, it is supposed to be hotter. Thankfully it looks like this heat blast will only last a few days until we get closer to normal, which for us right now is 91. I really hope you don’t get any more violent storms this weekend. Those poor people without power and a heatwave coming on….I can’t imagine having to endure another storm like that. Hopefully you can keep your chickens nicely cool throughout this heat.

Laurie, great workouts. And I love the feedback from these lower/upper weeks! Congratulations on the weight loss. I will hope for the same results. I agree on the tubing vs weights, and will always opt for weights over tubing when I can for sure. I was just looking at a map of the smoke across the US and saw you were in the thick of it. That is no fun. Hopefully your winds pick up and carry it out of there.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were Yin, Cathe STS 2.0 Tri Sets Total Body and Walking. I went into the Tri Sets workout dreading it in a big way. I just didn't want to do it, but I pushed through. I was able to go up in weight in two exercises, but with everything else I was struggling to finish the last few reps on the second set. It was still a very hard workout, and a couple of times I had to take a little break between sets.
I took my time stretching after the workout and it made a huge difference. I felt great physically and mentally after the stretch. I felt like the dread factor won't be as bad next week for this workout.

I've documented what equipment is needed for each warm-up and what equipment I used for each exercise and this is helping me set up what I need before the workout. I have a regular and an EZ barbells, and I'd never set both up, but I did on Wednesday. I usually just use the EZ bar, but I belt that it was bothering my right wrist with some moves.

I had my first encounter with a snake here in GA on Wednesday evening. Red the chicken and I had just been standing in the spot where I found it too. It was a very skinny snake about 20-25" snake with an orange band across its neck. Surprisingly I didn't freak out like I would've years ago. The snake was just probably sunbathing which explains the lack of movement. I had DH take a picture and I posted it in the GA Snake Identification group, and it was identified as a sickly, skinny ring neck snake. It's harmless, but I wonder what it's venom would do to a dog or a chicken.

The snake is living under our deck, which means there's a den under our deck. I am not happy about this, but I'm glad I saw the snake so we can be careful. This is an area where the dogs like to sunbathe in too.

As of Wednesday afternoon, some people were still without power and for some reason the area where Walmart and Hope Depot are located kept losing power. Some are saying that trees are still falling. Our forecast for Friday afternoon is calling for 'strong thunderstorms, which can bring flash flooding and damaging winds."

It's going to be a very hot and humid weekend. Our 'feel like' factor will be pretty close to 90 in our area, but other areas in GA will be in the 100's.

Laurie, great workouts and congratulations in the progress you're seeing with your body! Upping your protein I'm sure has helped a lot. I need to do that too.

It's been super hazy here and specially on Wednesday. People were asking if there was a fire. I thought it was from the smoke from the Canadian fires, but there's nothing in the news about it. Others are saying there was a fire in a neighboring town, but there was nothing in the news about it. Others are saying it's the humidity in the air.
I can't believe the fires are still burning in Canada! There's nothing in the news about them, which is crazy because they clearly affect people in the US too. I hope the wind starts blowing in a different direction for you guys.

The total body workouts are hard work for sure, and you feel so accomplished when you finish the workout.

I asked DH if the tree cutters had taken the trees away and he said they'd just probably pushed them down the ditch on one side of the road. At least they got them out of the way.

Laurel, great workouts! This Tri Sets workout is a killer. I think it's because it moves so fast. I also wasn't shaking like I was last week. I suppose that was because our muscles weren't as fatigued as they were last week going into the workout.

I braved the heat with the tri sets workout. The AC was on, but it didn't kick in while I was working out. The exercise room gets hit by the sun at the time I workout, so the room gets a little hot.
OMG, you're going to be super hot! The weather service is sharing these very red maps of GA indicating the heat factor being at the top of the heat scale for the weekend. We should be back to normal temps next week too.

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 2.0 Upper Body 2. I love that I was able to match Cathe in all exercises, so progress is being made.

I will not be online tomorrow, I'm heading up north to pick up my Mom this afternoon. I'm going to be driving down with her for the grandson's baptism on Saturday. Then I will be brining her back home on Sunday. So I will have a busy weekend driving. :D

We still have the awful smoke, but I'm hoping the rain we are suppose to get will take that down a bit.

Laurel, Great job with the workouts. The method to Cathe's madness is really in how she set the three workouts up. You will rip through that Tri-Set workout without a problem next week, because of it being the first one. Can't believe that I have already been doing this rotation for 5 weeks, and have not wanted to change. I felt that way when doing the 1.0, but pushed through even through my mind wasn't into it. I probably would be okay with it now. I just wonder if it wasn't that challenge to change the amount of weight % each week instead of just progressing up when I needed to.

Thelma, Oh snakes are not anything I want to encounter. We don't have any dangerous snakes in our area, but I wouldn't want to see one anyway. When I was little, we had a snake in our shower. Awesome job getting through that Tri-Set workout. That is one of my favorites, probably because it keeps moving. You are way more meticulous about recording information on the workouts than I am. ;) The one thing that I have found, if the smoke isn't on the east or west coasts we really don't hear about it. :D When they had the smoke in NY, that was on the national news. They have a Nascar race in Chicago this weekend, and I'm sure they would like this smoke to move out. Someone said that Canada has around 70% of the forest in north america. That is a lot of wood burning.

Enjoy your weekend and Happy 4th of July!

Hi Ladies! Today’s work was a 45 minute spin, 2.0 Standing Abs: Core Plus Floor and 2.0 Total Body Stretch. I was feeling yesterday’s workout for sure this morning, but today’s workout seemed to help. I am thinking I need to increase the protein in my diet right now. I was feeling pretty shaky yesterday afternoon, which isn’t like me. But I get lazy with protein, especially in the summer when I seem to gravitate more towards meatless options. I don’t think that is going to work for me right now. :)

Thelma, great workouts. I am glad you made it through the Trisets workout okay and were able to up the weight. Your haze is probably from the fires. The smoke is being pushed down into our area as well, though you are getting more of it. I went for a walk after my workouts today and, so far, the heat is pretty tolerable. This haze may actually help it not feel so warm because the sun isn’t blazing. But that being said, I would prefer heat to bad air quality. Two years before we moved to Alaska the first time, there were fires the destroyed over 6,600,000 acres, which is almost an unfathomable area to imagine. It is about 1/6 of the state of Georgia in area…..and it never made the news. Just crazy.

Laurie, great workout. And yay for matching Cathe throughout! I do think that 1.0 put some pressure on with the feeling that weight had to be increased every week. Some days it just isn’t there, but that program kind of made it feel like that wasn’t okay. But, then again, that was the goal of the program. Right now, I am preferring this approach of reaching for what I feel like when I feel like it. I am still conscious of increasing the weight, but not at a certain rate and not all exercises. Be safe driving this weekend. Hopefully your air clears up, and that you have a beautiful day for the baptism.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were Gina B Power Walk, Cathe STS 2.0 Total Body Stretch and Walking.

There were more of those violent thunderstorms coming our way, but they changed their mind and went to Northern Alabama.

I was right about the 'haze' we're seeing in BR is smoke from the Canadian fires. I woke up at about 7AM on Wednesday and it was like total whiteout conditions. I imagine it was a combination of fog and smoke.
Our air quality is pretty bad. I can't say that I've felt anything when I'm outside. I just know that my weather app says our air is bad.

Great workout Laurie, and congrats for matching Cathe's weights!
I hope the rain helps clear up that smoke.

Congratulations on your grandson's baptism! Have a great family time and drive safely!

There are lots of venomous snakes here and that is why I never go into the woods. I can't believe you had a snake in your shower! I would've freaked out!

I agree with you about not hearing anything about fires unless they are in the east or west coasts! I'm sure Nascar wants that smoke out of the are too. I can't believe Canada has 70% of the forests in North America! I just can't imagine the destruction those fires are leaving behind.

Laurel, great workout combo! It definitely sounds like you need to increase your protein intake!

I can't believe you're getting some of the smoke too! I agree with you that the haze is helping with the heat. I can't believe that fire in Alaska never made the news!

I agree with you that STS 1.0 definitely put pressure on increasing weights. I also prefer this new approach. I started out with heavy weights for myself because of the strength I gained with Tracy, so I don't expect to be able to increase my weights too much. I do ask myself after the first rep with every exercise if can go heavier.

Have a wonderful Independence Day weekend! We are sticking around the house.

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body followed by Cathe Live Cardio Boxing. These workouts felt good today. I even followed it up with a nice walk, though I kept it to just a couple of miles because of the heat index and the air quality. But if it hadn’t been for that, I felt like I could have walked forever.

Thelma, great workouts. Yes, we got a bit of a storm last night, but it wasn’t too bad where we are at. But it did raise the humidity level for sure. I would imagine your air is even worse today. I know ours is. I can’t begin to imagine how bad it is where Laurie is right now. Just crazy and sad. But, like yesterday, it isn’t as warm as they predicted, though it looks like tomorrow could be pretty hot still. But, so far, this heat wave is very manageable.

I hope you have a great long weekend. See you next week!

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a good weekend. Ours was pretty good but got hit with pretty violent thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Lots of people were left without power on Saturday. We lost power for 7 hours about six hours after Saturday's storm was over. The forecast or the entire week is full of thunderstorm chances.

On Friday night while stretching on the floor I touched my upper abdomen for some reason, and I found a large mass below the sternum. I believe it is a hernia and trying to find an appointment with a GI specialist online has been nearly impossible. Everyone is booked. Sadly, this kills my weightlifting until I can see a doctor. I was able to find an appointment on Wednesday with a nurse practitioner.
A hernia usually requires surgery. I have no idea who would do my surgery given that the woman I'll see is an NP.

My workouts on Friday were Walking, Cathe STS 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body. Gentle Flow Yoga and Cathe STS 2.0 Standing Abs: Metabolic Core Warm Up.
    Saturday - walking.
Sunday - Gina B Low Impact Cardio

Laurie, I hope your grandson's baptism was beautiful!

Laurel, great workouts! I honestly can't say that I felt anything different with the air. Thankfully it hasn't been as warm as predicted here either.
    see you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Like Thelma, ours was pretty wet. We tried playing golf Saturday but got rained out pretty quickly, and it just never stopped raining. Yesterday we spent on chores and errands and dodging storms. And we had another three hours of rain this morning and more predicted this afternoon. Thankfully, so far, the violence has been contained to wicked lightening and thunder and I hope it stays that way. Even as is, we are seeing lots of trees down, so I hope these storms don’t get too much worse.

Anyhow, for workouts, on Saturday I did 2.0 Active Recovery, Jessica Smith Barefoot Cardio Core and yoga. Yesterday was a 45 minute spin and 30 minutes of Pilates. Today’s workout was 2.0 Trisets Total Body followed by Cathe Live Step Express with Blasts. The Trisets workout did feel better after a two day break, but I would be lying to say it felt good. :)

Thelma, I am so sorry to hear about the hernia. That is not good news. Hopefully the NP can give you a clear diagnosis and help you find a surgeon. You are very wise to nix the weight lifting right now for certain. That must be so frustrating for you. But take care of yourself and I will be anxious to hear what the NP has to say on Wednesday.

Happy 4th of July! See you Wednesday.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were Walking and a Tracy Steen Beginners Total Body workout. The heaviest weights I used were 5 lb dumbbells.

I was able to get an appointment with my GI's PA, so I cancelled the other appointment. This new appointment is also on Wednesday.

Laurel, great workouts! I had the feeling that the Total Body Trisets workout wouldn't be easier just because it was the first workout of the week.

I'm so glad your storms didn't include the violent winds we've had here. We didn't get any of the thunderstorms predicted for Monday, so we had a very nice dry day.

It really is frustrating to not be able to continue with STS 2.0 right now, but I am glad I discovered the mass. I didn't even have to press down hard on my stomach to feel it. I pray it is a hernia and not a tumor.

Have you seen any hummingbirds, Laurel? I was getting a lot of action at my feeders and had to dig out my large feeders. The birds disappeared after the violent storm we got on the 25th. I put out my 3oz feeders back out and they are still full.

Have a wonderful Independence Day! We are not doing anything at all. DH will play pickleball and I will go to yoga in the morning.

    Morning Ladies,

Had a great weekend, even though I put over 1200 miles on my car. I was able to see my dad on Monday. I took my mom up to see him, and then we went to eat. Overall the weather was perfect for driving, I didn't have to deal with any rain. The bugs on my car are crazy through. :D

The baptism was really nice. I liked the fact that it was on a Saturday morning, and just family.

My rotation is all over the place. I really didn't get the chance to workout at all. With the driving, I either got home late and didn't have the energy or like yesterday I just didn't want to. ;) I'm back at it this morning with 2.0 Lower Body 1. The hr was up and I was sweating like crazy. I will have to say that I'm glad that was the first workout this week, those hip thrusts are brutal.

Laurel, Great job with all the workouts! This heat is crazy, so understand why you didn't take a lengthy walk. I found this protein drink that I really like. I mix it up before I workout, and then have it ready when I'm done. The best part is that it taste great with just water. https://us.womensbest.com/products/clear-whey I bought the Lemon Sherbert. It doesn't have an aftertaste, like some of the other ones do. When you mix it up, it will appear not to have mixed well, that's why I let is sit for my workout. I figured it out that it comes to just around $2.5 per glass. I needed an easy way to get more protein, because I'm probably a lot like you with the intake factor.

Thelma, I'm so sorry to hear that you may have a hernia, hopefully you will get some solid answers at your appointment. Great job with the workouts that you are able to do. I also didn't do anything on the 4th. DH and our youngest went to a car show in the morning, and I just did my own thing. Of course I did do some sewing, that was ignored for all my time off.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the holiday. Ours was very nice. The weather was overcast and sprinkly in the morning, but we decided that was perfect weather for a long walk. We ended up going seven miles, and it felt really good. By the time we got home, the sun was beginning to come out and, of course, the humidity then shot straight up. So we did a few things in the garden and then pretty much sat on our deck for the remainder of the day enjoying what ended up being a beautiful 4th of July.

For workouts, yesterday I did a 45 minute spin and the Perfect 30 Mobility Basics Core premix (and our long walk). Today was 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body, Mini Ball Abs, and Perfect 30 Low Impact HiiT. I have really enjoyed these total body workouts, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I am looking forward to starting upper/lower next week. :)

Thelma, great workouts, and great job keeping it light. I hope you get some good solid answers from your doctor today that ease your mind a bit. It rained here all day on Monday and through the night, but we never did get anything too violent minus the lightening. But the humidity levels are off the charts right now. We are getting hummingbirds again. After not seeing any for several weeks, they popped back up this weekend which makes me very happy.

Laurie, I am glad the weekend went well and that the weather cooperated with all that driving. That is a lot of miles in a few days! I am glad the baptism went well. Great job getting back to 2.0 today. Thank you so much for the information on the protein shake. I have always steered away from protein shakes, but I think I might need to change my approach. Of course, anything Lemon Sherbet is worth trying for me. :D

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my sweet DH drove me to my appointment because I had a panic attack as I was leaving the house. I just knew I didn't have a hernia. We got stuck in traffic and were late for my appointment which added to my stress. I called the clinic to let them know I was on my way. They were very understanding, and I found out you get a 15-minute grace period.

The good news is obviously that I don't have a hernia and that I can lift weights. The bad news is that it can be cancer or hopefully a benign cyst. I was told once by a breast specialist that cancer tumors didn't move and didn't hurt. My mass doesn't move and doesn't hurt. I have an ultrasound on Monday at 6PM. One of the side effects of taking meds for GERD is upper abdomen cysts. They can be benign, but some can become cancerous. I have the feeling that what I have is some kind of a cyst as a result of years of taking GERD meds.

My workouts on Wednesday were Cathe STS 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body and Walking. I've decided that I am going to cut myself some slack and will skip the killer Trisets workout. It felt great to lift weights again!

I've been trying to find ways to do the hip thrusts in a way that feel safe for me. I was watching a workout coach on FB and she happened to be talking about hip thrusts. She showed form and ways to do them. She suggested using a Swiss ball if a bench wasn't available. She also recommended starting with low weights until you get the form right. What a concept!
I tried the Swiss ball and that felt way better than the step. I tried the bench on Wednesday. I had to put 1 riser and the top of the 1/2 step in front of the bench so I could sit on it and then thrust because the bench is a little high for me. This worked beautifully for me. I finally felt like I wasn't going to hurt my neck.

We got some rain on Wednesday morning, and the sun came out in the afternoon bringing back the humidity.

Laurie, that was a lot of driving! I am so glad the baptism went great and that you got to see your dad! You might have to get a scraper to get those smashed bugs off your car!
Great job getting back to your workouts! I agree about the hip thrusts!

That protein flavor sounds wonderful! I have been adding some vanilla protein into my coffee and I like it. I haven't had a protein drink in a while and really don't feel like having smoothies. Adding to the coffee is a great way for me to have a little extra protein. I still use the whey+ protein Tammy recommended a few years ago made by Legion Athletics. They're having a BOGO sale now.
How special that your DH and your youngest went to a car show together!

Laurel, I'm glad you had a nice weekend and that you didn't have any violent storms. Great workouts and great job doing a 7 ml walk!! The moment the sun comes out, that humidity goes crazy!

Great workouts! I am also happy to be done with the total body workouts. I just can't imagine doing four weeks of them!
I've been meaning to ask you about the hummingbirds since last week. Ours disappeared after the violent storm of 5/25. I hope mine will come back too!

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 2.0 Upper Body 2. I almost didn't get this one in this morning, got up later than I had planned. We finally had rain yesterday, but it was spotty. Here at work it poured, but at home we hardly got anything.

Laurel, Nice job getting in all those miles on the 4th, and avoiding the humidity. Awesome job with the workouts also. You sound like I did at the end of the total body workouts, it was time to move on. I don't feel that way about this phase, but will be glad to start doing the one body part workouts. I don't think that the upper/lower phase was a brutal on the body. I don't really enjoy protein shakes either, just don't enjoy the taste, but I wasn't getting enough into my day without it. I also put egg whites in my oatmeal, just to get more in that way. ;)

Thelma, Sounds like a crazy morning for you, but glad to hear that you where able to get an appointment for Monday to determine what you are dealing with. I will be keeping you in my prayers for a positive result. LOL about the killer trisets workout, and great job with your workout. I think the swiss ball is a great way to try those out. Rolling in and out of that move would be much more comfortable. Thanks for finding that information, because I will for sure be trying that out. With the amount of weight that I use, it can get really tough trying to get that weight off. Thanks for the information on the whey protein, variety is the spice of life for me. :D

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 45 minute spin and 2.0 Upper and Lower Foam Rolling. The foam rolling felt fantastic today. I don’t know how often I will do those segments, but I am glad I followed the rotation and did them today.

Thelma, great workout given all of the stress you experienced yesterday. I am glad your ultrasound could be scheduled so quickly. Like Laurie, I will be praying for a good result. Thank you for the information on the hip thrusts using the Swiss ball. I am going to have to try that. The only ones I do with the step are the one-legged ones. Other than those, I am doing the floor option. I can get the heavy weight up on the step, but getting it down and off of me is where I feel it isn’t safe for my back. So I am open to all variations. I hope you get your hummingbirds back soon. We had a near tragedy last night. DH was going to run out to Home Depot, and the minute he opened the garage, one flew in. I left it alone (with the garage open) for about 20 minutes, went to check on it and couldn’t find it. I checked about four more times….no hummingbird. I closed the doors thinking it had found its way out, but when DH came home, he heard it. It had gotten stuck under one of our shelving units. So both of us moved everything we could to get that little guy out. He was exhausted and scared and covered in cobwebs, but DH was finally able to pick him up with a rag and carry him out. He even let DH clear his beak of the cobwebs (which would have been cute if I weren’t so concerned about the hummingbird). He eventually flew off and seemed to be uninjured. But now I will need to be looking AND listening for hummingbirds in the garage. So not good, and I felt horrible that I had trapped him inside. :'(

Laurie, great workout. I think I might have jumped up and down once or twice with glee when I read that you think the upper/lower section isn’t as hard on the body. :) I really have found these three weeks surprisingly tough. I hope you get some more rain soon. I read that the smoke might be moving down again. I hope your air doesn’t get as bad as it was last week. That combined with the heat would make for a very unpleasant time.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were Walking, Tracy Steen No Jump Cardio & Standing Ab Workout and Cathe STS 2.0 Foam Rolling Upper Body. I liked the upper body foam rolling. I didn't do the leg one because I always stretch my lower body and massage with a massage rolling pin.

We had a passing shower on Thursday.

Laurie, great job getting your workout in! I'm glad you finally got some rain.
Good job getting your protein in! When I make oatmeal, I like to add protein powder to it too.

Wednesday was definitely crazy, and I was able to tell how big this mass is when the PA was poking around. Thank you so much for your prayers. I really need them.

The swiss ball is the best way to do the hip thrusts for me because I was able to lift the bar and put it on my lap as I sat down on the ball. I also tried removing some of the weight off the barbell while it was still on my lap. It was easier to get the barbell off of me with less weight on it.

Laurel, great job with your rest day workouts!

I was lucky the hospital was able to give me an appointment on Monday. The first appointment available at another imaging facility was 7/27, that wait would've driven me crazy. Hopefully I'll get the results next week. Thank you so much for your prayers. I really appreciate them and need them.

I hope the swiss ball method works for you and Laurie. It just felt so much safer because you can sit back up and lift the barbell to put it down. I am amazed at how Cathe and her team can lift those heavy barbells from a seated position. The one-legged thrusts are hard!

OMG! Poor hummingbird! Thank God your DH hear him and that you two were able to save him. Those little guys do like your garage!

    Have a great weekend!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 2.0 Total Body Stretch / No Equipment Abs. It was a good thing my workout was short, because I slept through the alarm. :o Guess I was a bit tired.

Laurel, Great job with the workouts. I have found that the recovery workouts really do help with the soreness from these workouts. They don't look like much, but really do work. Why do those hummingbirds like to get into the garage. We had that same experience many years ago, but it was when we had colder weather. We had to warm the bird up before it was able to fly away. Glad that your DH was able to get the bird outdoors. Now that we have some cooler weather, of course we may have the possibility of getting more smoke. :D

Thelma, Great job with the workouts. I did a double take when you mentioned rolling pin. Of course my mind went right to a rolling pin I use to make pie crust. :D Of course that isn't the case, but it made me look twice at what I read. Thanks for the additional information on the swiss ball, I will be trying that out on the next workout.

    Have a great weekend,
    Laurie

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Super Sets Total Body and Cathe Live Cardio Fusion. Even though I felt a bit tired this morning, I really upped the weight in the STS workout, and it felt good. But I am also glad to be moving on to a new section of the rotation. :)

Thelma, great workouts. Our weather is so weird right now. They originally predicted rain for yesterday, then in the afternoon, they removed the rain forecast. An hour later, we started getting alerts and then the skies opened and poured buckets on us. We had several inches of rain in an hour. It was crazy. But we need the rain, and it didn’t cause any damage, so I will take it. We have a Vitex plant right next to our garage that attracts pollinators. I think that is why we get so many hummingbirds in the garage. But the worst thing is we have three big windows in the garage that go up to the ceiling, so the hummingbirds fly in, fly up and then go toward the light from the window instead of the garage door. We had the windows covered last year and, obviously, it is time to do it again this year. I don’t want another repeat of Wednesday night for sure.

Laurie, great workout. And I agree about these recovery workouts. They really have felt perfect on the days in between the workouts. We seem to get hummingbirds in the garage every year no matter what we do. I came home from grocery shopping today and closed that door before I even shut off the car. :) Not smart, of course, but I really didn’t want another bird in there. I hope your air doesn’t get too bad.

    Enjoy the weekend.

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was good and as always busy.
We got one of those crazy storms on Saturday night. We got 1" of rain between Friday and Saturday night.

I am thrilled the total body segment of this rotation is over with! This upper/lower segment should be fun!

I've been following on FB coach Alisha Lee and she and her coach always offer great advice, such as the hip thrusts. She has a video on weightlifting grip pads. She says these things are not necessary but come in handy when you want to lift heavier, but you don't have enough grip strength. I ordered a pair and used them during my lower body workout. I am in love! These things were a total game changer for me. The best part is that my hands were happy at the end of the workout. They didn't feel like I had just lifted weights. These grips allow you to lift weighs by using your wrists instead of your hands. You don't even need to use your thumbs! I don't think these things will work for push type exercises. I was able to go much heavier.
Coach Alisha is also on Instagram. She says she is a natural athlete. I believe it because she is not huge. She is total muscle though. Out of all the fitness gurus that show up on my FB she has the most solid advice.

This is the reel on the grips.

My workouts on Friday were Walking, Gentle Flow Yoga and Cathe STS 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body.
Saturday - Walking, Gina B HIIT for Weight Loss and JS Post Stretch.
Sunday - Walking, Cathe STS 2.0 Lower Body 1 and Gina B Power Walk.

OMG with those ball roll ins!! I only did 15 because something didn't feel right on my right glute. It wasn't an "I'm working the right glute harder" feeling. It was a "I'm hurting my right glute" feeling. Did you do these roll ins?

    Laurie, great rest day workouts!

I've actually used baking rolling pins to massage my thighs with. That was before I discovered the massage rolling pins though! LOL

Laurel, great workouts!!! I am also very happy about moving on to a new section of the rotation!

Our weather was beautiful this weekend. The rain happened at night, and it wasn't humid. We are going to be on a hot pattern for at least two weeks.

I can't believe you got so much rain! What a crazy storm!
No wonder the hummingbirds are so attracted to your garage! Sounds like you do need to cover your garage windows!

I finally saw a hummingbird; I saw it Friday and Saturday. They're still not back. My feeders are still full.

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

The workouts this weekend where rather pathetic. Can't imagine how it happens, but my weekend days just start out right from the start, and then my workouts get put off for good. Oh well, I did get a lot of yard work done though. So no workouts on Saturday or Sunday, because our weather was just to nice not to be out in it all day. This morning I did 2.0 Lower Body 2. I may do the upper body when I get home. Our AC went out yesterday, so if it isn't fixed, I may have to spend some time in the cool of the basement. :D Why not do the last workout in this phase. ;)

Laurel, Great job with upping the weights, and of course moving onto the next phase. Enjoy those hip thrusts. I'm okay with the floor glute thrusts, but those hip thrusts are torture with getting up and down with that weight. We've only every done the closing of the door because of swallows that insisted on building a nest on our light fixture. Now those things will dive bomb you if you get to close to their nest. Of course putting their next right over the garage door doesn't prevent me from being by your next. :D

Thelma, Awesome job with the workouts, and finding those grips to help with the weights. I will for sure check into those, because I'm hoping to increase the weights as I go, and those weights are really getting tough to hold for an extended period of time. Those roll ins are no joke, but I'm very thankful that she doesn't do them forever as in other workouts that she has. I'm also grateful that it's two legs instead of one. ;) Hopefully your right glute is better the next time you try them.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was very busy with chores. On Saturday we focused on the garden, the lawn, house cleaning and washing windows. Yesterday we spent the entire day in the garage replacing our shelving, reorganizing and cleaning everything, and hummingbird-proofing the windows :). Both days were exhausting. Thankfully the weather cooperated with lower than normal temperatures, and only spotty rain on Saturday during the day. We did get hit by another really heavy rainfall last night, but I was already in bed when it started. :)

For workouts, on Saturday I did a walk with Jessica and 45 minutes of yoga with Kristin McGee. Yesterday was Cathe Live Love Me Some Cardio Kickboxing and 20 minutes of Peloton Pilates. Today I did 2.0 Lower Body 1, (which felt surprisingly good despite my tired body), and a low impact spin. I already know I am going to love those upper/lower weeks. :)

Thelma, great workouts. Thank you so much for the information on the grips. I get so frustrated when it is my hands that can’t handle the heavy weight. I didn’t have any problems with the roll-ins today. Honestly, I was so tired today it just felt good to be able to lay down on my mat. :D;) But since they are ‘finishers’, if you keep feeling pain, don’t do them. The hamstrings and glutes already get worked enough in the main workout. I hope all goes well with your ultrasound. I will be thinking about you this evening.

Laurie, I completely understand what you are saying about weekends and workouts. If I didn’t get up and do my workouts before breakfast on the weekends, they would never happen. But it sounds like you got plenty of work in if you were in your garden, and with the added bonus of being able to enjoy the weather. Great workout this morning. I hope your A/C gets fixed quickly. DH had some swallows build a nice in the door frame above the door into the building where he works. Everyday he said it was an adventure trying to get in and out. But, apparently, the babies hatched and grew and flew away happy and healthy. I could think of better places to build a nest though.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were Walking, Gina B 3500 Steps and Cathe STS 2.0 Upper Body 1.
I was able to go up in weight in chest, back and biceps. I stayed the same in triceps and actually went down on one shoulder exercise because I was arching my back. The workout felt great. My muscles felt pumped after the workout. That last shoulder workout in this workout was brutal! I also tried different exercise methods in some moves. I did the scare crow last time with tubes. It just didn't feel right.

We got 1/10" of rain on Sunday night. Monday was a beautiful sunny and dry day.

I had my ultrasound done. I was told that the results will get sent to the doctor and I by midday on Tuesday. I asked the lady who did the ultrasound, if the mass was in my stomach. She didn't think it was. She thinks it's above the organs at the muscle level, which tells me this isn't a digestive issue, which explains why I have no digestive symptoms.

Laurie, I bet your yard is looking pretty good! Great job with the Lower Body 2 workout! Very brave of you to even think about doing the upper body workout without on the same day you did lower body!

I am glad I found those grips because that is the only way I'll be able to lift heavy in lower body wokouts. I'm also thankful the roll ins are just one set!

Laurel, great workouts after that busy weekend!! Sorry you got hit with so much rain!
Good job finishing those roll ins without any trouble! I hope to be able to do better with them next time.

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 2.0 Upper Body 1. After tomorrow I will be onto the one body part workouts. I started to look at the workout lengths, and everything is under 45 min so I will have to see what I can do as add ons.

We still don't have ac, because we need to get a new furnace. The furnace we currently have was installed when we built the house over 25 years ago. The problem is that we can't get replacement parts for it anymore. Hopefully they will be able to get one in soon, and we can get cooler air again. So far the evenings have been very nice. Now I have to figure out how to make meals that don't heat up the kitchen.

Laurel, What a busy weekend you had. The summer just seems to fly by because we want to get so much done. Great job with those workouts, and of course getting to enjoy these upper/lower workouts. One of the things that I really like to do is get outside in the mornings before the heat index goes through the roof. That is probably why I don't get my workouts in. ;)

Thelma, Great job with your workouts! Congrats on the weight increases. I agree with you on that shoulder work, I also felt the biceps where pretty brutal too. When she says that this is the last body part to work, it really does help with the motivation to get through those exercises. Will be keeping you in my prayers for some good news on that ultrasound. I didn't get that workout in, it was much better to be in the basement sewing. :D

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! So for today’s workout I did the exact same workout as you two….2.0 Upper Body 1. I love this workout. I was able to match or exceed Cathe’s weight throughout, but I didn’t do the Arnold Presses….just regular shoulder presses like Al. There is no way I could have done Arnold presses with 15#. I love the way this workout makes my upper body feel afterwards. It is nicely tired and ‘pumped’ without feeling overworked. Anyhow, I followed it with Cathe Live Cardio Kickboxing, Low Impact HiiT and Abs.

Thelma, great workouts. I did a few of the modifications as well in this workout. I skipped the pull-ups and chin-ups and did bent over rows instead (like Kristen). As I said above, I didn’t do Arnold presses. And I did the seared bicep curl into scarecrow move instead of the band face pull. I love that she provided such modifications. I hope your news today is good. I am thinking about you.

Laurie, great workout. I think I would have opted to sew instead of doing another 2.0 workout yesterday as well. Great job finishing Part 2 of the rotation! I am looking forward to your reviews of the Body Part phase. In my head, I am convinced it is going to feel easier than the other two sections, but I also think I might be delusional. :D It could be the first couple or few feel easy, but then with each passing day, they start compounding and the intensity level feels more, well, intense. :) I am sorry to hear about your A/C. Hopefully you can get a new system soon.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were Yin Yoga, Gina B's 3000 Steps and Walking. My arms felt a little sore from Monday's upper body workout.

I got good news from the ultrasound results. I have a benign lipoma. It's a tumor made out of fatty cells. They develop under the skin and are hereditary. I don't remember anyone in my family having one of these things.
I got the results at about 11 am. I started to do my own research after I got home from Yoga. I sent copies of the report to my doctors to figure out what type of doctor I should see. According to wikipedia I should see a general surgeon or a dermatologist.
My rheumatologist called me personally to talk about the results. She recommended a general surgeon and thankfully she had a surgeon to recommend. I have an appointment with the surgeon on August 3rd. I hope my insurance covers this type of surgical procedure because lipomas don't really require treatment.

Thank you both for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.

Laurie, great workout! I'm sorry your furnace died! I hope you're able to find a replacement one soon. Thank goodness it's not winter!

The biceps work in the Upper Body 1 DVD is also hard. I had been using dumbbells for the curls, but I tried the barbell on Monday and that was better. I felt the biceps working!

Laurel, great workouts! Congratulations on matching or exceeding Cathe's weights! That is fabulous! I love that Cathe decided to include format choices for these workouts. The seared bicep curl into scarecrow done with dumbbells is the best way to do that more. I can't imagine that a lot of people would get the format right if doing git with tubbing.

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning was 2.0 Mobility 2 / Standing Abs: Metabolic Core Warm Up. I find it interesting that my body feels so good on these days.

We will be getting our new furnace today, which is fantastic. We have had some cool evenings, so sleeping hasn't been horrible since we also have fans blowing. I would just like to use my oven every once in a while. ;)

Laurel, Awesome job with the workouts. I really love all of the upper/lower workouts. I'm with you on following Kristin during those band exercises. I feel it is so much easier to get the barbell than use the bands. Tomorrow starts the first workout with legs. I've been watching the clips just to make sure that my workout area is ready. I'm going to be trying out the swiss ball for those hip thrusts. She upped the weight on those from the last phase. :o I'm hoping that these one body part workouts are tough. The weight that she is using is quite a bit heavier.

Thelma, Such great news, and so glad that you don't have to deal with that stress factor. Nice job with your workouts! I agree with you on using the barbell for that section of the biceps. I tried both options, and really find the barbell to be a better option for the curls. I'm okay with the dumbbells for the sweeper curls though. Sounds like all of use are using the dumbbells vs the tubing.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Step Boss IMAX 4, Abs 2 and Extended Chair Stretch. Even though my body felt surprisingly good this morning, I opted for a shorter more moderate workout, and it felt really good. I like this chair stretch better than the one included in 2.0 as well, so it made for a nice substitution.

Thelma, great workouts and great news!! I am so happy your rheumatologist was able to connect you with a surgeon. No doubt you aren’t looking forward to another surgery, and, hopefully, you won’t need one. But I am happy everything is benign.

Laurie, great workouts. Yay for the new furnace coming so quickly! I am glad you have had some cooler nights because, for me, it is the nighttime I need AC the most. I keep ours ridiculously low at night and I still end up feeling like I swallowed nuclear material most of the night. :# I don’t know what that would look like without it being cool. B)

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were Walking, Gentle Flow Yoga and Cathe STS 2.0 Lower Body 2.

I was able to up my weights in some of the exercises and I think I'll be able to up my weight again next week. I didn't realize there were 4 sets of glute bridges in this workout! I got the barbell off me after the third set just as Cathe was going to start set #4! I had to pause in order to get the barbell on my lap again! LOL
I do need to get a better barbell pad, like a really thick one just like Cathe has. The one I have is going for the shoulders, but not for hip thrusts.

I have up'd my protein intake too. I've found that it keeps me full longer. I've been adding one scoop of vanilla protein to my coffee which helps.

We had a very hot Wednesday here. I don't know what the highest temp was. We were definitely in the 80's, but I bet the feel like temp was close to 100 degrees.

Laurie, great workouts! I really like the mobility exercises.
I can't wait to hear about your experience with the hip thrusts using the swiss ball.

I'm so glad you were able to get a new furnace so quickly!

I am really relieved this lump is benign. I still don't know if I need surgery and I would hate to be out of commission again for another month not being able to lift weights.

Laurel, great workouts! Cathe has another chair stretch workout? Really? Is that in the IMAX DVD?

Thanks Laurel! I feel like the weight of the world has been taken off my shoulders with the lump being a benign thing. I have the feeling the surgeon will probably say I don't need surgery. I just hope one of my doctors will run ultrasounds every once in a while. I will feel it guess if it keeps growing.

    See you tomorrow!
