Hi Ladies! Today I did a 45 minute HiiT and Hills ride followed by a recovery ride and yoga. It is a beautiful day today, so I also took a nice walk. The fresh air felt fantastic after a couple of days being closed in.

Thelma, great workouts. I hope everything goes well with your appointment and you enjoy your Publix stop. We have a few days in the 70s back in our forecast again. Because I want it to feel like Christmas, I am not exactly thrilled by that. But for whatever reason, the time change this year is really bothering me, so if it takes warm weather to have sunshine….I think I will take it.

Laurie, great workout. I saw that Jessica is back on YouTube! She hasn’t done anything there for quite awhile. She also has new DVDs coming out, and they look like they were filmed in a beautiful location. I will be curious what she has on offer. I don’t have Alexa or anything like that either. This is my age talking, but I can’t imagine I would ever be so busy that I would have to ask a computer to preheat my oven. I guess I just think, at a point, the computer dependency is a little….off the rails. B) But, again, that is my age talking. :)

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were a Gina B Low Impact Hiit and a yoga flow.

My visit with the rheumatology nurse practitioner was a wonderful experience. The nurse was kind, caring and very educational. She took her time explaining my labs, meds and possible treatments. She also recommended Tumeric which helps with inflammation and Co-Q10 for the heart which could be affected by lupus. She also recommended that I see a cardiologist and pulmonary specialist to establish a baseline to make sure everything is OK.
The insurance contract issue has yet to be resolved but I am hoping they will eventually reach an agreement.
I want to have this nurse be my main rheumatologist. My doctor in MA was great but this woman is fantastic. I've never been treated by a doctor with so much kindness and tenderness. One of my meds can affect the retina and she wanted to make sure that my current ophthalmologist is checking my eyes for that. I know the test is necessary and I've been having it done for years. She even wants to see the ophthalmologist's notes!
My current rheumatologist never cared about those things. There is no way I'm going back to that woman.

As always we had fun at Publix. On the way out DH almost bumped into a guy coming in the opposite direction because there was a huge column that blocked the guy. The guy actually looked like Jesus Christ. Maybe it was Him. He gave us a very kind look and smile.

Laurie, great workouts! Thanks on the heads up about Jessica Smith uploading new content to her YT channel!
We have security cameras and I can see the wildlife but the coop needs a little one inside the actual chicken house. I wonder if those guys at work have trail cams.

We don't have Alexa or anything like that. I refuse to get stuff like that because you are sharing too much of your life with Amazon. God knows what they can do with that information or if they're actually watching you.

Laurel, great workouts! Did you get the Peloton email about their new boxing program? You actually have to join a program to do it but it may be worth it. I'll have to take a look at it because it could be a lot of fun.

I can't believe you'll have a few days in the 70's! We'll have a few days in the low 60's! Tonight the temps are in the high 20's! I'll take the sunshine anytime too!
Now that we have chickens I don't like it when it rains too much because the sand we use as bedding on the floor gets wet. It's a heck of a lot better than wood shavings though.

I'm sorry the time change is bothering you this year Laurel, definitely get outside and enjoy the sunshine whenever possible.

    See you tomorrow ladies!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 30MTF Build & Burn Upper Body Supersets. I went up in the weights from the previous time I tried this workout. Felt great, but I was really struggling on the chest. May have gone a little to heavy on that one. :D

Laurel, Great job on the workout, and of course getting in a walk on a nice day. I will be curious as to what Jessica's DVD's are going to be also. I will have to insert some of my favorites of hers. I have this feeling that when I finally retire, the technology will probably diminish. I know for sure that I will not be looking at a computer like I do right now. ;) Have you made any Christmas cookies? I'm probably going to be doing that on Saturday.

Thelma, Love the workouts! Such great news that you have found someone that you like to help you and hopefully be your rheumatologist. I need to find a new doctor also, and they have a new location closer to our house. My doctor left the medical group I was with, so that is why I have to find a new one.
I'm going to retire in a few years, so it just seems better to find one that is closer to our home. I was thinking of trying a nurse practitioner for family medicine. You are right the guys have the trail cams. It is interesting to see how often they are checking their phones, because it notifies them when something is in the area. :D

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Cathe Live Metabolic Lower Body, Cathe Live Kickbox Express and 20 minutes of Yoga focused on the lower body. And another walk. :)

Thelma, great workouts. I am so happy you found a doctor you like! I really hope the insurance aspect works out. It is so sad that it has become rare to find a physician that seems to actually care. I don’t envy physicians their careers, that’s for sure. But it is still nice when one treats you like a person and not an appointment. I did see that about the new Boxing program on Peloton. I am pretty curious about it too. I know these first workouts are all about technique and form, and I am more interested where they go with it after that.

Laurie, great workout. Sometimes struggling a bit isn’t a bad thing! It means you are challenging yourself…as long as you stay safe. :) I have not baked a single thing yet for Christmas. B) Worse yet, I have no interest in baking anything. I promised myself a couple of days ago that I will at least make shortbread cookies and maybe some fudge because DH would not be so happy without some Christmas treats. But, honestly, this is the first year ever that I think I could go through the holidays without baking. It’s weird….and kind of nice actually! :D How about you? Maybe if you mention some of things you are baking, my mouth will water and I will find my motivation. :D:p

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts today were Total Body Trisets Biceps/Back, a Peloton ride and Pilates abs.

It was another cold day here. At least for me it was! LOL. We had a sunny day and on Thursday night the rain moved in. According to our weather app it will be rainy Friday and Saturday.

We are invited to a shooting/Christmas party on Saturday. It looks like the shooting part will be a no go given the rain. I am going to make pumpkin squares. This is basically rectangular pumpkin pie cut into squares. They will do a Chinese gift swap which doesn't excite me at all. I could care less about things like that. I just want to add our gifts to a pile and they can do with it whatever they want.

Laurie, great workout! Congrats on going up on your weights too!

I am really happy to have found this nurse practitioner and hospital too. I will hopefully be able to use them for all my medical needs if they can workout the insurance dilemma part out!
Don't you just hate when your doctor leaves the medical group you're in? I hope you're able to find a good doctor near home. It makes sense to find a doctor close to home. Of course, we moved to a place where good doctors are a rare thing. A lot of people travel to Atlanta. I won't go there if I can help it. This facility is 45 minutes from home and I can actually get there easily without fearing for my life in the crazy Atlanta traffic.
So far the two nurse practitioners I have found here are top notch. The family nurse practitioner we go to is great and most of our friends go to her.

Your co-workers clearly pay for a service for those trail cams if they get notified like that. Our Ring cameras notify me like that of any movement outside. We don't have one next the coop though. I do want the camera inside the coop to see what the do at night.
I also do need a camera outside the coop. Our security cameras don't allow me to see much that far at night. I can see them moving around inside the coop during the day though.

Laurel, great workouts! I didn't have a chance to check the Peloton boxing program. You can't just take a preview of the program. You have to join the program in order to see what it is about. I wasn't ready to go there yet.

I also hope my new medical facility is able to workout the contract with BCBS. I just read that 400,000 current patients will be affected by this!
It is rare to find a physician who actually cares. Our family nurse practitioner is actually very good too. She listens and cares too. She's not motherly like the nurse practitioner I met on Tuesday, but she is good.

    Have a great weekend ladies!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 45 minute spin followed by ICE Chiseled Upper Body and Icy Core 1, all finished with 10 minutes of floor pose yoga. I decided to do the upper body workout as a way to ‘wake up’ my upper body before jumping back in with total body metabolic workouts next week. Even though the ICE workout is pretty tame, I have a feeling I will still be feeling it tomorrow. :D

Thelma, great workouts. Like you, I am not quite ready to jump in to the Peloton boxing program. Hopefully we’ll hear more about it as it goes on. I hope you enjoy the party on Saturday. I completely agree about the gift exchange, though. But your pumpkin squares sound delicious! While it is warm today, we are completely socked in with fog. They are predicting high winds tonight and some storms in the morning before it gets cold again. This has been a very weird December weather-wise.

Laurie, I hope you are enjoying your day off.

    Have a good weekend!

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a nice weekend. Friday and Saturday were pretty rainy but Sunday was a beautiful sunny day.

The Chinese gift swap was actually fun, simply because the men were pretty funny. Our gift was a big hit; which I hoped it would be with the gun enthusiasts.

My workouts on Friday were Gina B low impact Hiit and gentle yoga.
Sunday: Peloton Low Impact and ICE Metabolic Total Body. This is such a great workout!

    Laurel, great workouts :D !

I'm trying to post via my phone. The new version of this MFP community discussion function is full of bugs.
I can't get the keyboard to stay. It just disappeares every time I try to type.

Saturday was pretty scary. It got windy on Friday night but by 11am on Saturday the winds picked up before the rain hit our area.
Thankfully it was short lived and we're OK. What a terrible tragedy with those twin tornados!
On the gift swap, we ended up with a bottle of red wine which we don't drink. It's time to invite some wine drinkers over! LOL

Do either of you have easy recipes for a potato casserole and/or a green bean side dish? I need some easy and tasty recipes!

Laurel, I can't wait for Peloton to provide more info on that boxing program.

Laurie, I hope you had a fabulous weekend.

    Have a great week ladies!

    Morning Ladies,

Had a very nice weekend, and of course it was busy again. I got out on Friday to do some shopping. Of course the majority of the shopping was for myself. I needed some new hoodies for work, they just keep me very warm and of course I chose some pretty colors. ;) The rest of the weekend I was able to get in some sewing, and DH and I did shopping at the antique mall. We found a really nice angel for our youngest.

My workout on Friday was 30MTF Build & Burn Lower Body Tabata. Saturday I did a yoga workout with Chris Freytag again. Sunday was an off day for me. This morning I felt like working out with Jillian. I was super surprised about that one. I did Extreme Shed and Shred workout 1.

Laurel, Great job on all your workouts! I hope that the boxing program is a good one. I think that the weather has a lot to do with the wanting to make cookies or bake anything really. I'm of course going to do my cut out sugar cookies. If I don't I think that DH would be in a depression. :D I love fruit cake cookies, so I bought all the things to make those. I make a raisin cookie that DH loves also. I usually do one cookie that I have never made before, but I have not found that one yet.

Thelma, Nice job with the workouts! Those tornados where horrible, I was looking at the pictures. The only thing that I have done with a side dish for potatoes are the funeral potatoes, mustard potato salad, German potato salad and of course the way that I make them most of the time is mashed or roasted. As for green beans, those I usually roast and then top with pram cheese, the green bean casserole or just lightly boiled so they stay firm. Your pumpkin squares sound great. I love pie, so that is a great way to serve them. I don't blame you for not wanting to deal with the traffic in Atlanta. I am that way about going to downtown Milwaukee. It just makes me crazy if I'm not comfortable with where I'm needing to be. Of course they always start closing roads down, so then you need to find alternate routes. Not fun.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Like Thelma said, we, too, got hit with a pretty heavy storm on Saturday. I was trying to do my yoga and the power kept flickering in and out, which was a little frustrating. But after dumping buckets of rain and blowing everything around for about 30 minutes, it slowed down into rain which ended in the afternoon. I, too, am so saddened by the destruction from the tornadoes north of here. It just breaks my heart, especially this time of year.

For workouts this weekend, on Saturday I did Jessica’s new YouTube walk (and she mentions Peanut’s death, which was :'( ) followed by 45 minutes of somewhat interrupted yoga. Yesterday was a metabolic workout duo with Cathe Live Birthday Bash Workout into Cathe Live Cardio Boxing Bootcamp. Today was a 60 minute spin followed by 30 minutes of Pilates.

Thelma, great workouts. It sounds like your experience with the storm on Saturday was similar to ours. I am glad you didn’t suffer any damage. I am also glad you enjoyed the Christmas party and gift exchange. The simplest potato recipe I have is this:

2 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
    1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
    1/8 tsp pepper
(I also add salt and some garlic powder and any other spice I feel like at the moment like rosemary or basil)
    Cheddar cheese (optional)

Arrange potatoes in an 1 1/2 qt baking dish. Combine butter, onion and spices; pour over potatoes. Top with cheese (optional). Bake, uncovered, at 425 degrees for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender.

It’s simple and can be easily adjusted for whatever size crowd you are cooking for. As far as green beans, the only thing I have ever really done with green beans is the standard beans, cream of mushroom soup and crispy onion dish so popular for Thanksgiving. Green beans just aren’t appealing to me, so if I ever have them, that is how I have them.

Laurie, great workouts. I am glad you were able to find yourself some things over the weekend. Your Christmas cookie list sounds wonderful! I talked to DH about my baking apathy this weekend, and he is perfectly fine with shortbread cookies and fudge. :o That surprised me. I did bake a pumpkin pie this weekend, so I probably asked him at a good time. :D I may try to make a nice dessert for Christmas Eve or Christmas, but I think my baking will be very limited, and that is wonderful. Of course, if the weather turns cold and dreary in January, I can always bake then. :)

    See you tomorrow.

HI Ladies, my workouts on Monday were a Peloton ride, Gina B low impact cardio and Pilates.

We warmed up into the 60's today! It wasn't windy so it felt pretty warm.

Laurie, I'm glad you had a nice weekend! It sounds very productive!
    Great workouts!!

The tornados were really bad. I watched a video that looked like something out of a movie. An entire town was completely wiped out!
OMG, I found a recipe that was called funeral potatoes but skipped it because our friend who lost her husband in July will be here. I was afraid she'd ask for the recipe.
That's how I usually cook green beans too!

Road closures are not fun at all

Laurel, I'm glad the bad part of the storm was short lived for you too.
The destruction caused by the tornados is really heartbreaking.

Great workouts!! Thank you for that potato recipe! My kind of recipe! Thank you!!
It's pretty similar to what I do with roasted potatoes. I do use olive oil because I'm roasting them, onion and garlic powder, salt, pepper, rosemary and paprika.

I roast my green beans with parm cheese like Laurie does. I don't mind green beans but I am not sure DH would like the cream of mushroom soup part. Thanks though!

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was RAW Just Step.

Laurel, Great job on all your workouts! Oh my on the Jessica workout and the mention of Peanut. Will have to check out her new offering. Those storms where pretty rough through that area. Can't imagine what those families are going through with having all that destruction. Love the sound of those potatoes. With just the two of you eating the goodies, just making the things that you want to eat is understandable. Like you said, making them later in January is also an option. Those months are always horrible, and we need to break up the weather with baking. :) Do you like to experiment with different desserts every year? We have to decide what we are having for Christmas Eve.

Thelma, Love the workouts! Very nice temps that you had. Even when it warms up around here, it still feels cold because the lake is so cold. That is a valid reason to skip over those potatoes. ;)

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! For today’s workout I did ICE Metabolic Total Body, and did the whole DVD. :o It was the 86 minute premix that included the workout, the Blizzard Blast, the Muscle Meltdown-Chest and Core. It felt absolutely wonderful. :) I followed it with a 20 minute yoga session focused on hips and a nice, long walk on this sunny day. B)

Thelma, great workouts! We are supposed to be back in the mid-70s on Friday, but it really does feel nice outside right now. I am glad you like the sound of the recipe. When we grill potatoes, we use olive oil as well. I never tried that with this recipe. I have to admit that with certain foods (like potatoes) I do like the flavor butter adds to it. Good thing we rarely eat potatoes!!

Laurie, great workout. I completely agree about needing something to break up the January in January :D , and baking is a good option. I still have the fixings for another pumpkin pie, and already promised DH that I would experiment with a bourbon pumpkin pie. I think January is definitely the month for that. ;) I used to try a new cookie recipe every year, but the last couple of years we have been experimenting more with the meals than the dessert. This year we are going to try both. For Christmas Eve, we are going to try our hands at making our own ravioli, which we have not done. I’ve chosen to make a white wine sauce with asparagus spears to top the ravioli, which is another first. And, just for background, I used to make cheesecakes quite a bit. I even had one auctioned off for hundreds of dollars. B) But I just can’t justify making a full cheesecake for the two of us anymore. So I am going to try a new recipe for small, muffin size cheesecakes and then try a new Grenache—Red Wine Chocolate Granache—to cover them. I figure by including alcohol in the entire Christmas Eve meal, we are guaranteed a fun evening even if the food doesn’t turn out well. :D;):p

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were ICE Low Impact Sweat and PiYo Define: Lower Body. I was in the mood for something totally different today. It's been forever since I last did PiYo and it was as if I had never done it before. I didn't remember any of of the moves. Based on my MFP history I did do these workouts in the past. Anyway, now that I'm much better at yoga this program will be easier.

We had another beautiful, sunny and warm day. We started out in the high 20's and warmed up into the 60's.

    Laurie, great workout!
So if it's cold when it warms up, when will your temps begin to really warm up?

Laurel, great workouts! Good jog with the Metabolic Total Body workout!

The weather has been absolutely beautiful here. I haven't checked the forecast for the rest of the week but I hope we'll be in the 70's too!
We don't eat a lot of potatoes either. We've never grilled potatoes! Do you use a basket?

Your Christmas Eve meal sounds delicious! I can't wait to hear how it turns out. The pumpkin bourbon pie sounds amazing!

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning was another Jillian workout, and I did Lift and Shred W1. Staying with the weight work with Jillian is probably a smart idea for me. No large amount of jumping around. :D

Laurel, Awesome job with the workouts and your walk. Oh my on all the lovely sounding food that you have listed. I want to come to your house! :D I love that they are making smaller pans for cheesecake. I love cheesecake, but it can get to be to much and sometimes to rich. I'm very impressed that you are a cheesecake aficionado. I'm always a basic person, and do not mind if my cake has a crack in it. Of course I try very hard not to have that happen. :) You and your DH will have a lovely evening, and the pasta making sounds fun. If I didn't have to go to church that night, I would be making something fairly fancy. We made wellington's last year. This year we have not decided what to do.

Thelma, Love those workouts, especially the PiYo one. It always surprises me the next day with DOMS. We actually have temps in the 50's right now. Of course that isn't going to last. I think that when we have so many weeks of constant freezing temps the ground is still giving off the really cold. Today is super foggy, so the cold seems to be trapped and if feels colder than the temp. It really doesn't start feeling warm until the ground lets me run around with bare feet and not freeze even with grass growing. :D

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a super tough 45 minute HiiT and Hills ride followed by 30 minutes of yoga and a walk with DH. It is another beautiful day here with sunny skies and temps in the 60s. B)

Thelma, great workouts. What a great idea to pull out PiYo! I should do the same thing because I never made it very far into that program. But they would be perfect workouts for our next rotation. Maybe I will try to do a couple of them before the rotation starts just to remind myself what they are all about. Anyhow, we have grilled potatoes using a basket, but we have also just used heavy duty aluminum foil as a ‘basket’ or bowl. We love grilling fresh veggies in the summer, and sometimes we add potatoes to it. I usually use small red potatoes or a package of small multi-variety potatoes. I halve them and I pre-cook them in the microwave for 5-10 minutes so they cook up at about the same rate as other vegetables we are grilling. With some grilled fish or beef….makes for an easy and tasty summer meal.

Laurie, great workout. I am glad you are enjoying the Jillian workouts. Thank you for the compliment on our Christmas Eve meal plan. Hopefully it is as tasty as it sounds! I remember you doing beef Wellington last year. That is a meal I still want to try making some time. Maybe I should pencil it in for next year’s Christmas Eve. I would love to think I would have the initiative to try it before then, but my cooking motivation seems to have gone on permanent holiday. :D

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were Ice Rock'm Sock'm Kickbox with 1 lb weights and Perfect Flow Yoga Strength & Flexibility + Core Bonus.

We had another beautiful day here in the mountains. It warmed up into the low 60's. We won't be hitting 70's like Laura will be. Rain is expected for the weekend, starting on Friday.

Laurie, great workout and good job for listening to your body!

The PiYo workout was really a nice surprise for me. I had no idea what it was going to feel like, but it was just right. Enjoy the warm temps while you can.

    Laurel, great workouts!

I never got far with PiYo either. I wasn't into yoga when I got them. The leg workout I did was nothing but a regular yoga flow. I'm looking forward to trying the other workouts. I think you should give PiYo a try. I'm pretty sure you would like it this time around. I'm so glad you think PiYo will be perfect for our next rotation!!

I have tried foil baskets for other veggies but never potatoes. I will have to try potatoes soon! It makes sense to pre-cook them in the microwave. Otherwise; potatoes would take a long time to cook.
I forgot to comment on your cheesecake! OMG they sound yummy! Can you freeze cheesecake?

    See you tomorrow ladies!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was RAW Heavy Bag 4, and that felt great. We had wind gust last night, and our power went out for a short time. Driving to work was an experience. There where traffic lights out, but everyone was courteous with the 4 way stops. Only once did I have to go around some tree debris. ;) Our house was fine, and I'm really glad that our roof was replaced. I think our old roof would have been torn off with this wind.

Laurel, Sounds like a great HiiT workout, and of course having the nice weather to enjoy too. Beef Wellington is fairly easy to make, you just have to make sure that you take it out for that perfect cook that you enjoy. I'm with you on the motivation to cook. I don't know why, but I just can't seem to get into it lately. Last night we had soup and grilled cheese. DH was the one to make the grilled cheese, because that is one of the few things that he is a pro at cooking. :D

Thelma, Nice workouts! We had warm temps yesterday, and then the wind started. Now our temps are in the 30's. Glad you where able to enjoy those nice warm temps. Putting those PiYo workouts into the rotation every once in a while will be a great way to use them. They where pretty boring if you did them as a rotation. At least that was my experience.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Cathe Live PHA-No Repeats followed by Cathe Live Boxing HiiT Express. Both workouts felt really good today.

Thelma, great workouts. That kickboxing workout is still one of my favorites. We are currently at 72 degrees and climbing. :o I know our lows the next couple of nights are supposed to be 10-15 degrees above our average highs for this time of year. But, like you, rain is expected on Saturday and then colder weather on Sunday. Quite the roller coaster ride of weather this December for sure. Cheesecake freezes beautifully. You don’t want any sauce on it, but properly wrapped up (even individual slices), it is good for a few months in the freezer and you would never know it was frozen. We plan on freezing at least half of the small cheesecakes we are making next week (the recipe makes 9 muffin size cheesecakes) to enjoy down the road. :)

Laurie, great workout. I saw this morning that the nasty wind storm reached up your way as well. I am glad it didn’t do too much damage and you weren’t without power for too long. Denver got hit pretty hard as well, and both my sisters mentioned trees and fences down. These warm temperatures followed by bursts of cold air are causing horrible weather right now. I am hoping when the season changes next week, these weather patterns change as well. I am glad I am not the only one completely unenthusiastic about cooking right now. Sandwiches seem to have become the main staple in our diet. B) At least I serve a big salad every night so we get our veggies. But I dread my weekly meal planning times anymore just trying to think of something…..different.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were a Peloton ride and PHA 2.

We had another warm day today.

    Laurie, great workout.
Windy conditions are very scary. I'm glad your house and you are OK.

I can't imagine doing a PiYo rotation! I can see how it would be very boring.

    Laurel, great workouts.
Rock'm Sock'm is one of my favorites too.

I didn't check the temperature today but it was pretty warm. Our weekend is expected to be a very wet one. The weather has certainly been all over the place this month.

I love cheesecake but can't find anything good around here. I am glad it can be frozen.

Have a wonderful weekend ladies! I can't believe we have two weeks left in the year!
