Eh I'm not a huge fan of Kate Upton---as a runway model. She's a little too...bouncy, in my opinion for the runway. And for some reason she comes off as cheap to me in many of her photos. I can't really put my finger on it. She's not fat, I mean, I'm sure I'm bigger than she is, but her body fat % is probably quite a bit higher than your typical model and personally, I prefer a much leaner physique. But that's just me, I can see why other women would consider her body type ideal, I'd prefer to be more fit.

She's pretty but certainly not 'OMFG PERFECT!!1!'

    My thoughts exactly.

Shes gorgeous! But I still think she's fat. =|

Kinda like Adelle, she's overweight but I'm sure that takes nothing away from her talent and beauty. :)

I think she is gorgeous. Personally, I want to get down to a healthy weight that is still a little bit curvy. I like having curves. I will never be "model-thin" and I don't want to be!

Yeah, I'm not seeing where anyone is calling her fat or saying that 25% bf is disgusting. What I'm seeing is people politely talking about their differences in opinion about THEIR PERSONAL ideal (yay! I want that! or Oh, that's nice, but I want something different).

yea, I just don't buy that she's less than 25% body fat is all. Not saying that's a bad thing...

all about angles and how much they are photoshopped....I don't think it's perfect, but I don't think anyone's body is perfect, there's aways going to be something people pick apart about...thats just how it is.

If she's fat, then dear lord...LET ME BE FAT!!! lol

    LOL!!!

Yep she's gorgeous. Getting slated elsewhere.

I think my body idol is Lucy Mecklenburgh, I don't watch TOWIE, but her body is amazing and she has quite wide hips like I do, so it's not a totally unobtainable idea.

If I didn't have stretch marks (read SCARS), then my body would look like this.

Um, she is definitely not overweight...those boobs might increase her body fat % but she is definitely NOT overweight by any means.
    5'10", 125lbs is what I found online.....not overweight

Hmm... I'm not sure. In other pictures she doesn't look as chubby. Perhaps this was just a bad picture of her? :)

    Seriously?? ^^^^^ Look up above^^^^^

No WONDER females and especially our young girls have such a complex about body weight!! Geez!! I am frankly sickened by the responses Ive read on this thread. She's not fat, She's not chubby, she's not overweight.....SHE IS HEALTHY!! And I think she looks fabulous!! Instead of looking at her and saying whether they liked it or not, everyone jumped in on how she was overweight, she was chubby....yep her body fat percentage has to be up there, etc etc etc. She is very healthy and beautiful which is more than I can say for alot of these so called "models". :grumble:

I agree, she's definitely somewhere around 25ish %. She has the right body proportions to handle higher body fat % and still look good, definitely some genetics at work there.

Thank you for clarifying for me.

I wasn't trying to skinny bash.. I was just stating what the article said... and what some MFP members speculated when I posted a topic on this last saturday.

Funny thing about that site. "Skinny Gurl"
As i use to highly participate on the website and now left.
I'm a bit of a basher myself but some of those girls took it too far and it got to be too much and i left.
Some of them are really freakin' catty.
But it is funny to hear this stuff after leaving.

I'd trade bodies with her in a New York second!

No one said 25% is disgusting. There was just a post or two that kinda sounded like it implied "Yeah, she's a little too chubby for my ideal, like around 25%" which is okay, since they said 'their ideal'. I'm ready for the day to be over, I probably took it wrong. Mah bad. :flowerforyou:

25% BF is a very healthy number for non-athletic women.

I don't think she's fat at all, she looks healthy, actually. Much more like us normal ladies.

125 isn't what defines it, body fat percent does. Not that I am saying she is overweight...

She is beautiful but in all honesty she is a little bit chubby (not fat but definitely a little overweight). That doesn't detract from her beauty though. :)

Really? REALLY?? And we wonder why people struggle with eating disorders!

I also don't buy that she's 125lbs. I'd say 140ish. I read media outlets alllll the time that post the weight of different celebs and half the time it's ridiculous. I read somewhere that Jessica Simpson (pre-pregnancy) had "ballooned" up to 140 lbs and she was desperate to get down to a healthy weight of 115 lbs. I'm the same height and build as J-Simpson and I weigh more than 140 lbs now. I think the media cuts like 15-20lbs off of celebs actual weight most of the time, which is pretty irresponsible if you ask me, and probably has quite a bit to do with young girls having eating disorders to get down to a certain (often unreasonable) weight.

She is "fat" because you can't see her bones, and bones are in style these days. On a serious note, I wish more models and female celebrities looked more like her. She looks healthy and happy. I can not wait til I get that skinny and healthy looking

    Exactly.

It's not about over/under weight. It about how LEAN she is. She is clearly less lean than most models, fitness, runway or otherwise. It's not a bad thing. It's pretty healthy to see really.

Sorry...shouldn't have quoted your post, too. I agree with you.

I didn't say it was UNhealthy. I just stated I don't believe she is 20%, but rather 25%. I also never said it was bad and said she was pretty.

Um, the 'people think Kate Upton is fat" thing apparently started on a pro-ana blog or site?

So. Nuff said. I wouldn't even validate a pro-ana blogger's opinion with a conversation about it.

Yeah, fat means not looking bony, apparently. I loved her cover shot on Sports Illustrated. Very sexy. She looks healthy to me.

Saying someone is "a little overweight" is not the same thing as saying someone "differs from the modeling ideal". Calling someone overweight is exactly that, making it a health and medical concern. If what you mean is that she is bigger than modeling standards, that is what should be said. Two cents.
