I also grew up in a family where hamburger helper was an everyday thing, a serving of pasta is the size of your plate, and you got in trouble if you didn't finish your food. And eating veggies was a punishment, and they were all boiled to death from a high-sodium can.0

because i love food, especially food high in carbs. I have a crazy sweet-tooth. ad because i don't exercise.0

I got super-fat because I have two bad knees, a painful Motrin’s neuroma on my right foot forget about running, walking and cycling with all that going on...there is plenty of pain-free foods; wine ooo la la…cheese such wonderful cheese. Left over's that can't be thrown away because they tasted good the night before, and all the extra goodies in between. That is my truth!
Now I have two options, work thru the pain or become another statistic to heart disease or diabetes0 -
Ate too much of everything at any given time + snacking ever since I was a kid.
At age of 9 I was able to eat 3 huge plates of spaghetti to myself.
Or an entire box of pasta-roni to myself.
Or 1 lb. of chowmein with fifteen egg rolls.
I never got even overweight until high school probably. There was no scale in the house, so I would have guessed myself 130-135 lbs. I was never too active either, although other people always thought I was a lot skinnier than I was. My Asian family thought different though, they told me I was a fat a** and should stop eating ;3.0 -
Because I consumed way more calories than I was burning. Daily, over a long period of time.0

like the lady above I way to obbessed with food and panic mode sets it if I eat something I had better burn those calories off as soon as I eat it0

alcohol consumption... which leads to a hangover which leads to wanting greasy food!0

I stuffed myself during pregnancy, and stopped exercising. [not due to my own choice]

I just plain love food, I just never could find a happy medium between enjoying food and overindulging. I'd be the same way if I was a girl with miracle metabolism. I eat to celebrate, I eat to kick back, yet I DON'T eat when I get emotional. Go me? -_(\0

I was overweight because my daughter had medical issues and I ate my way thru the stress and never exercised.0

when I was a teenager I believed I was overweight and now 30 years later I realised that I wasn't, but I got yo yo dieting and always put more back on than i lost and I am now 2 stone heavier than I was then.0

Because I never thought about what I've been putting in my mouth until now. I just ate whatever I want, whenever I want. I don't consider myself "fat", but I'm glad I stopped eating whatever I want and hopefully prevented a lot of health issues!0

I am fat because Carl's Jr invented something called a Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger with Criss Cut Fries and I stuffed my face with it once or twice a week
and alcohol

and I HAD no willpower.

I was lazy...didn't want to make the right decisions...never exercised....AND ATE WAY TOO MUCH0

1) because I was LAZY! Too lazy to cook a proper meal so fast food was a staple in my house. Makes me sick to think of how much fast food I used to eat. Never again. Haven't eaten at a fast food restaurant in almost 2 years even though I live 5 houses away from McDonalds, Pizza Pizza, Little Ceasars, KFC Chinese and Subway. YUCK
2) I LOVE FOOD.
3) I Hated exercise....Hated being past tense. Love it now.0 -

I was fat because.... I ate the wrong foods, too much of them and sat on my *kitten* too much. Period.0

I am fat because I was lazy and ate crappy that simple :-) Now I exercise a lot more and eat as healthy as I want to but mostly stay within my calorie limit.0

I would almost kill for a chocolate bar..... wait, I have killed.... squirrels, groundhogs, and even butterflies that were in my path while on the way to the store to feed my chocolate habit....

I am fat because........I can't resist carbs and sugar!!! I love bread and will eat almost anything with the ingredient sugar lol. alright folks not its your turn come on don't be shy :bigsmile:
I am fat for a variety of faults of my own. 1) moving to the hottest city in the USA - Yuma,AZ that makes it almost impossible to go outside in the summer months. 2) eating out every day for maybe a month greasy foods and not portion controlling 3) not realizing I was gaining weight. 4) not exercising 5) not incorporating vitamins and fruits and vegy's into my diet.0 -
I have sat and pondered this question many times. As I would like to be able to blame my parents for the start of it, for not letting me do sports (but of course my brother was allowed and was the best football in the school) , I have realized that I can't continue to blame them anymore, I moved out with my new born when I was 16 and since then it's been my problem. I am def. an emotional eater, not feeling like I was treated the same as my other siblings... already fat and made fun of, i ate my problems, and when that didn't work, i resorted to drugs and sex... the reason I got pregnant so young. I am learning to fight through that and realize, that I AM the reason, that is what I chose to do, and you know what? I DO NOT CHOSE THAT ANYMORE! I'm learning to eat healthy, and my 5 year old loves to work out with me, my fiance is even on board now! and I couldn't be happier.0
