My great great grandfather on my father's side is John Duffin. You don't know his name but you know his achievements. He was a wealthy industrialist who financed the construction of Wrigley Field in Chicago, as well gave Robert Ripley the loan he needed to get started opening up his exhibit at the World's Fair.

Noone that I know of but now I'd like to find out
  • Not so famous, but Mickey Gilley (old country singer who used to be on HeeHaw) is my dad's cousin...I don't remember how far removed, but not really far.

And on my mom's side, my Great Great Grandmother was Minnesota Windsor...yes, from England, and yes, those Windsors. Supposedly she had two brothers that had titles-one a lord and one an earl or some such, in both Scotland and England. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away last year before I could write down all the cool stuff she remembered! :frown:

I am somehow through my maternal grandmother related to Liliane Bettencourt. She is a French heiress, socialite, businesswoman and philanthropist. She is one of the principal shareholders of L'Oréal and, with a fortune estimated at US$23.5 billion, is one of the wealthiest people in the world

Also my grandfather on my fathers side was a renowned Jazz pianist who played with Miles Davis in NYC. He had his own television show too. He passed away about three years ago though.
  • Rex Harrison was my great, great uncle! Not a massive claim to fame because unless you mention audry hepburn no one seems to know who he was, that and he was a horrid specimin of a human being

I have to say, he may have been a horrid specimen, but between the ORIGINAL Dr. Doolittle and My Fair Lady, I was captivated by him as a child!

That is really cool! We had a French foreign exchange student stay with us and either her grandfather or great-grandfather founded L'Oreal, I can't remember which.

The most interesting person in my family history is a man who "signed away" his "Indian rights" so he could run for mayor of some small town (I can't remember if he won). One of my aunts is obsessed with genealogy and found this person through a search of census records, birth certificates, etc., so I think the paper trail on this claim is pretty good. Not that it's anything to brag about.

    Joan of Arc
  • David Sol is my distant cousin.. Also, a NYC detective that worked on the Jack the Ripper case for over 10 years called us a few years back and is about 100% positive my great, great, great grandfather was the mass murderer. There's a lot of mental illness in my family, plus the time line matches up along with other evidence. Sounds insane and people often debate to me about it, but I have nothing to prove. : )

I'm sorry I have to debate you here just because NYC detective that worked on the Jack the Ripper case? Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick but Jack the Ripper was in 1888, and in Whitechapel, England, Scotland Yard dealt with it and the case was officially closed in 1892 even though the identity of the murderer has never been confirmed, only speculated. Unless there is an american Jack the Ripper case?

As for me no one famous that I know of, however I am a direct descendant of the Sinti so maybe that counts for something haha!
  • I am a direct linear decendent of Sir William Espileman (Spilman). He is my 22nd Great Grandfather.

Frankie Muñiz from Malcolm in the Middle
  • As far as I've heard, I'm related to Edgar Allen Poe which makes me very very happy, lol.

**EDIT**: This is from my uncle who's spent years researching the family tree. I hate him, but he has his uses, lol.
Technically, he's a distant relative. His wife, Virginia (who was also his cousin) is a closer relative

Either way, it's a win with me, lol
