Seems like everyone I know swears they are related to someone famous in history. I know people who think they are related to the Queen of England, Adolph Hitler, Jessie James(the outlaw) etc...
So, who do you THINK you are related to as it pertains to famous people in history?

Robert E Lee and I have a common ancestor. His gg grandfather, and my gggggg...grandfather. I'm also related to Daniel Boone's first wife.
My ancestors had their land surveyed by George Washington when he was a teen age boy. I've seen the document with his signature. And we owned land at Mount Vernon before George purchased it.
Thanks for posting this - so much fun to read!0 -
I'm a Mayflower descendant: John Alden and Priscilla Mullins. Her father apparently brought crates of shoes for himself but not a single useful tool. I believe that I inherited the family mannerisms for packing for a trip.

Has anyone realized that if you trace your ancestry back far enough, you are related to essentially everyone at some point?
You have 2 parents
You have 4 grandparents
You have 8 great-grandparents
You have 16 great-great grandparents
...
Assuming an average 25 years or so for each generation, there were approximately 512 people alive at the time of the American Revolution that were your direct ancestor. Go back 400 years and you had 65,536 direct ancestors. One doesn't have to be a math genius to see that eventually everyone's family tree will converge. In fact, it's a guarantee that some of your ancestors appear in more than one part of your tree. So, everyone is related to someone famous if you go back far enough.0 -

So am I! My British side goes back to the Mayflower, and my dad's side (the American side), goes back to one of the early settler boats from Germany. My great-grandfather was also a 'famous' dentist and worked in the empire state building, I believe yeeha.0 -
