Hi everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!! :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:

It's been a long day. We had our Charity Bash Assembly at school--assembly schedules always make the day seem longer. Then I had to stay after to plan with a colleague--we have no preps together this semester, so we must do it on our own time.

My Thursday Truth is that I ate way too much candy and other sweets at work today--just a total sugar binge. :blushing: When I got home I took gunner for a long walk, did my core work, and walked on my treadmill on the highest incline for 30 minutes. Even with burning over 600 calories, I'm still over for the day. However, I feel much better than if I hadn't worked out, and I'm still under maintenance, so that's something.

Well, it's after 11:30 and I need some sleep, so no personals tonight. I will catch up with you all tomorrow.

sara and sams....welcome back!! just coming here and posting is a good start.....now start making healthy changes a little at a time

Thank you - taking baby steps........ but at least I'm trying :)

Friday Fitness - hmmm well we have a Pacer Machine - its like a treadmill but is set so it can only go at walking pace. I have looked at it for about 2 months, other people in the house use it and now I'm determined to incorporate it into my day. I am going to start with 5 minutes a day, as that seems very achievable. Then hope to build up from that

Preparing for weekend........... well I have a load of housework to catch up on, a nice new DVD of CSI to watch and a book to read. Foodwise I have some new recipes to test and a farmers market to visit to stock up on salad and veggies

    Happy Friday!

Well I had an excellent workout last night... increased my standing rows and deadlifts! But all that hard work left my legs feeling like rubber this morning... i went to the gym anyway but starting running on the treadmill and quickly decided I did not have that fast of a pace in me, so i upped the incline and slowed down... Did 25 minutes and worked up a good sweat...

Walking from the train to my office was and adventure though, my legs hardly cooperated! They better be back to life so I can lift tomorrow morning!

i did have a moral victory yesterday over carbs... 0 pieced of valentine candy eaten!! I plan to let the kids go wild and eat every bit of it tonight so I am not constantly tempted... whats one night of dealing with amped up sugar fiend children! LOL

@Robin~I name all of my cars, I am currently driving Stallion (black Rav4).
@Katrena~People bring their own stuff to restaurants all the time, every time I go to a pizza place with a friend of mine he brings his own dressing. You can actually eat pretty healthy at Outback, just need to avoid those appetizers and bread (sometimes easier said than done).
@Gorilla~Always frustrating when you're amped up for a good workout and the legs won't work!

Friday Fitness~Its actually been a really good week, trainer thought I would be sore from our session on Wednesday but so far so good. I am supposed to meet friends at our favorite Mexican place tonight, but already decided I’m not drinking alcohol and will get 2 tacos and some black beans for my dinner – they make their own tortillas there so hopefully the tacos come in corn tortillas to make them gluten-free. They know us there, so I'm sure they'll cater to me if I ask. Afterwards I’ll head to the gym to get on the Arc trainer for a while (at my trainers suggestion), tomorrow is my long-run. I don’t foresee any food obstacles this weekend and am proud to say I turned down every chocolate-covered strawberry, donut, cookie, and candy offered to me yesterday.

I’ve got a doctor’s appointment first thing this morning, so will check back later…

Good morning. All my coworkers (all 5 of them) are probably going to wonder why I am all dressed up today. I am celebrating valentines day with my bf today.

Well babysitting last night I really didn't need to worry about getting a work out it. My boss just recently moved (he use to be my neighbor) and his new house is HUGE and beautiful. So the 4 yr old and I were running all around the house, up and down the stairs, and I even got some lifting in. We had a blast. I missed that little ball of energy. We even colored little wooden dolls that I bought from michaels.

Friday fitness: I'll probably get a bit of a walk in tonight as after dinner my bf and I are going to go walking on the beach. One of my favorite things to do. I just love feeling the sand under my feet. I will also be getting in more walks with my puppy Deputy. I'll use a pic of him as my profile pic. He is so freaking adorable.

I'm kind of concerned because my left ankle seems to be constantly swollen. It doesn't hurt and it's not any stiffer than it used to be. I fell down the stairs either the first or second sunday in january. Had a huge bruise, lump and scrape/burn on the upper putside part of my left leg. Now the scrape/burn has scarred, i have just a little tiny knot and the bruise is gone. Up until about 2 weeks ago my fibula was a little tender to the touch but its fine now, but my ankle is still swollen. I don't have money to go to the doctor nor do I have insurance. I just don't know what it could be. Should I just not be concerned because it doesn't hurt?

I hope everyone has a great day.

    Good morning all!!!

So Friday is here AGAIN...super excited about this..been a week that just NEVER seemed to end.

Friday Fitness--after going back and forth with a few peeps on my buddy list and from the boards, I've decided to increase my calories to what MFP says I should be eating based on my current weight. I'm going to try and see how this goes. It's now set at 1540 calories. So far, so good. I am not working in my office today, so I had a package of poptarts. Anyway, back to my fitness...I have been rocking out at the gym as far as cardio, but still a bit intimidated to do weights. I know that I need to, but its so intimidating to see these muscle juice heads in there walking around...so, long story short, I just started putting the treadmill up to 3.1 mph at a 6.0 incline and whoooaaa, I burned 796 calories last night in 60 minutes. I'm hoping that helps to firm up my bum. I am going to TRY and work on some arms tonight at the gym. I have even considered asking one of the trainers to show me how to use the machines properly so I dont hurt myself. The leg machines I have down pat, but the arms not so much.

People that I work with off and on, who havent seen me have been commenting on noticing a difference in my appearance. Even my boss, whom I see everyday, told me yesterday that she can see a difference and could tell that I am losing weight. I have noticed that my tshirts arent AS snug around my belly as they used to be. So, I guess I'm doing something right! WOOT WOOT!!!

I hope everyone has a great day and lets enjoy the weekend!! Now WATER TAG!!!! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

@Des I rarely know if we have a three day weekend until the day before it happens!

@Rachael Woohoo for people noticing!! Always a super awesome feeling! And a double woohoo for shirts feeling looser!

Good Morning. Well, by the end of the day today we will have a new granddaughter. So excited! I'm praying that all will go well.
DH wants to go out for dinner tonight for his birthday. I'm going to try to steer him in the direction of a place that has a good salad bar. There is a little local restaurant that is not a franchise. They specialize in Scandinavian food and it is GOOD! He mentioned that place last night. I know if we go there, I will not be able to stay under my calories for the day.
Friday fitness: Can I just say that all of you people with your gym memberships and intense training keep me in awe. I am still walking, and grateful to be able to do that. I'm especially enjoying the spring-like weather and walking outside. There isn't a lot of traffic in our little town, so anyplace is safe to walk as long as its not slick out.
    Have a great day. Kaye

@Des -- I'm sure you'll be back to your sexy steampunk outfits soon. I think your doctor's being a bit hard on the chocolates, because you can surely fit one every day or two into your plan no matter how low your carbs are. And I once completely mistook the timing of the school holidays and didn't realise school had broken up until the kids came home and said 'no more school for a fortnight!' Which was a problem because we'd booked a holiday when they were due to be back in school oooops.
@Rachael -- never worry about losing too slowly, as long as you're losing or staying the same it's all fine and the trend is good. What a fantastic burn! But if you're relying on the numbers that machines give you (rather than a heart rate monitor) I'd recommend only eating back half your exercise calories. Because sometimes the figures are a bit high. Love the new profile pic!
@Kaye -- looking forward to welcoming baby Anya!
    @Helena -- what a cute puppy!

So, Friday fitness -- it has not been a good week.

Saturday -- parkrun and badminton DONE and a lot of walking too.
Sunday -- 5m run NOPE, rest...
    Monday -- Morris DONE
Tuesday -- long run if possible DONE 7 miles in the cold
    Wednesday -- Badminton NOPE
Thursday -- 5m run (or long run if not Tuesday) NOPE
    Friday -- badminton DONE

So not exactly a shining success. Next week...

    Saturday -- parkrun
    Sunday -- run if possible
    Monday -- Morris
    Tuesday -- run
    Wednesday -- badminton
    Thursday -- run
    Friday -- badminton

Walking from Hobbiton to Rivendell -- 86 miles, walking through the Old Forest.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

@ alison- Thanks! I am going to order the fitbit wristband when it comes out. I'm really looking forward to it. I like to know as close to "exact" of a burn I'm actually getting.

Ok all--so a bit of drama in my world that I wanted to share with everyone and get some feedback/opinions/personal experience stories.

In 2010, I had a routine eye exam/fitting for my contacts and they asked if I wanted to have a retinal exam bc I never had one. I said sure, why not...well good thing I did bc they were able to see that I had some holes in not 1 but both of my eyes! They immediately referred me to a specialist and I went to see them for the first time in Sept 2010. They told me to bring a driver (I didnt think it was necessary at the time) and when I walked in, I QUICKLY realized, I was the youngest person in the waiting room besides my mom! (I was 27 at the time). Anywho, my eyes were dilated (which I HATE btw) and I had my exam and found that there is some holes, but they aren't TOO terrible and the doc wanted to see me back in 6 months. Ok, cool--so I go back in March of 2011 and says that there is no significant change in my eyes, ok awesome...come back in 12 months...okie dokie, I go back in March 2012--no significant change, come back in a year.

Now I'm due to go March 8, 2013. Today, while at work, I started seeing these squiggly lines in both of my eyes. I shut my left eye to see if it was coming from the right side- yup..then closed the right eye to see if it was coming from the left eye--yup! So, I know have a white-ish squiggly line in both eyes for about 20 mins..then all of a sudden, I lose peripheral vision in my left eye. I had my coworker do some motion on the left side and then the right and I couldnt see anything on the left side. This lasted for about 10 minutes and the lines went away. Then about 15 min later, I got a killer headache behind my right eye and the back of my head, on the right side. I felt sick to my stomach and sounds get very loud and it felt super bright in the room that I am in. I had called my docs office before the headache and was waiting for a call back. No call back--so I called the front desk and explained what happened- they transfer me to the traige nurse. She calls me back and I explain EVERYTHING again for 20th time and she tells me to come in on tuesday @ 9:15. She thinks it could have been an opthalmic migraine. I do have a history of migraines (diagnosed in June 2012). This has NEVER happened before. She told me to call back if it gets worse or happens again over the weekend bc there is a doctor on call.

Has anyone else experienced this before? It really freaked me out!

Slept for 12 hours last night - have been having problems so that was great! Also need to chop off my fingers because I have been shopping online and have gone overboard - wonder what the weight of 10 digits lost would be? The trail of UPS men to my doorstep has been fun but it must stop! Have been ordering clothes for my vacation and it has veered off into jewelry and trinkets for the home and ebay and shopgoodwill and OMG! :noway: I am going to have to retire the computer! With this car repair thank goodness I have my Tax refund coming - but it is now spent!

I have been having lots of trouble with fatigue, muscle aches, and asthma and lots of swelling and not getting my LS walking done - confession time :glasses: life just sweeps me away and right now I'm a nervous mess. The vacation creeping toward me and getting ready to have my apt. painted at the same time puts me under some pressure that I am not equipped to handle except by lots of rest and meditation. My life was crushed by lots of stress in earlier years so I've learned to handle it this way these days but I feel I'm just "up to par" as some folks. Still I cant judge myself against others just have to live my life by my own yardstick and this works for me.

KJeffries = thanks for the "Fail to Plan and Plan to Fail" reminder - I have to get with that program in its entirety!!!!!

Des - way to learn about your 3 day weekend - now enjoy it!

@Rachel - ophthalmic migraine are the worse! I get these silver stripes that flash in my vision and the pressure in my head feels like it's in a vice. The only way I can get rid of them is to lay down and shut my eyes for a while. I started getting them right after my stroke and thankfully I haven't had one in a while.

If it is an ophthalmic migraine, I wouldn't worry unless they start happening often.

Rachael, the interference with your vision sounds very much like something that I have experienced from time to time. It hasn't happened for quite a while, thank goodness. They call mine a painless migraine, because I get the vision problems, but not the pain. Good luck to you. Because of your eye history, you should rightly be concerned. Kaye

Rachael - I've had migraines and there is a visual aura that preceeds mine. I get zig-zag lines like lightening in my vision. I can't diagnose your problem, but I can add a precautionary bit of advice. If, at any time, you experience a LOSS OF VISION, go immediately to the EMERGENCY ROOM, do not wait, no not hesitate, that is what my Opthalmologist told me. If the loss of vision is partial or whatever, it is an important symptom that should not be ignored it must be treated right away.

Yes, the doctor called them visual migraines. Use to get them all the time. First time I was in the middle of an exam. Lovely. The only thing at the time that helped me was to immediately take immitrex when my vision started to get odd. I always was kind of freaked when my pheripheral vision went and then I'd have like black holes in my remaining vision. Creepy. Can't say yours is the same but I had them for years..............

@Rachael~I have to agree with Robin here, any time something like that happens again go IMMEDIATELY to the emergency room. Anytime you lose peripheral vision its a bad sign, actually its the first sign of a detached retina (which is hereditary by the way). It definitely sounds like an opthalmic migraine - I've been there, they are terrible. When I get migraines, they are always opthamic for me for some reason - luckily I don't get them as often as I used to. I'm glad to see it didn't last long and your vision restored, still scary just the same. I have retina issues also (was showing signs of degeneration in my 20s), have to see a specialist periodically - I'm down to every 2 years now.
