Good morning all - I am so excited about being the first November post. Like getting a sticker for being extra good.
All in Challenge - Count me in
Calorie goals 1200 day, under 100 carbs, over 120 protein
    Fitness goals - Cardio 7 days/week 45 to 60 minutes, Spin 2 x week, Resistance 3 x week, Total Body Fitness class 1 x per week.
I want another repeat of my 12 pound weight loss.
I am currently at 222 pounds, down a total of 75. The last time I weighed this was when my youngestw as less than a year old. He is now 23.
Yesterday went pretty well. I re-started one of my medications. It will take a few days to kick in. Hubby and I are planning an honest discussion time today. There are issues we need to clarify if we are to be together. Wish us well. I do not want to split but I do not want to live like this either.

To all - It is wonderful to see the October Challenge results, how inspiring. Just picture the pile of butter stacked up.

@skinnyjeansbound - Several of my customers are teachers. All the teachers I know work hard, long hours and give so much of themselves. I admire you all, It is a tough job and one I would not want to do. Thank you.

@tracy - There is a large sign on the wall at my gym "The best time to work out is when you want to"

@laurie - Forgot to mention the pics. Yowsa you look fabulous! I would not have known that was the same person.

@nettie - The last trimester was when my babies were the most active. As soon as I would lay down they started their gymnastics. They could wake me out of a dead sleep. While you are up and walking around it is like they are being rocked and they sleep the day away. Thanks for bringing back the memories

@eternal truth - welcome, yes these are goals you can get to, this group is a great help, come back often.

    Love to all,
    Lori <3

Good Morning. Busy day at work yesterday and trying to get some appointments set up.

@Tracy~Like Karen, I've not heard that women shouldn't work out late at night. I think you need to work out when it fits into your schedule. The only thing I have heard is that working out late at night (so close to bedtime) can make it difficult to sleep well--workouts should be 2-3 hours before you go to bed.

@Nettie~Yay for the baby being so active! How is the nursery coming along?

    @Lori~Great goals for November!

@Laurie~Hope you had fun at your party.

@Niki~Hooray for surpassing your weight loss goal for October!

@Tom~Love the jack-o-lanterns through the years, thanks for sharing.

@Robin~Those pumpkin bars sound yummy, I love the pumpkin scones they have at Starbucks this time of year--I'm allowed to have one!

AFM~Last couple of days were busy. Thursday was a visit to my orthopedist for my Achilles ailments, not much he can do really. A friend of mine recommended a specialized chiropractor she goes to for Airrosti treatments, he keeps her running. I talked to him yesterday and he thinks he can help me with these flare-ups, since all other therapies aren't working. My first appointment is Monday afternoon, after 3 treatments it should be feeling much better--my fingers are crossed this works well enough that he has me running again (I miss it). Minimalist runners have also been recommended, so looking for those this afternoon. Good workout with trainer yesterday and I'm headed to the gym in a bit, then running around this afternoon.

November Goals: I'm "all-in" for the challenge, so will be at or below my caloric goal for the month. I will allow myself some liberties 3-4 times, including my birthday and Thanksgiving. My other goal is to get back into my routine at the gym and start Pilates.

    Exercise Goals this week:

    Monday~Trainer DONE!
    Tuesday~Rest Day DONE!
    Wednesday~Trainer DONE!
Thursday~Cardio NOT DONE (had to work late)
    Friday~Trainer DONE!
    Saturday~Cardio
    Sunday~Trainer

    Good morning everyone.

Happy NATIONAL DEEP FRIED CLAMS DAY
In 1865 fried clams were found on the menu of the Parker House hotel restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts so it is known that fried clams have been served and enjoyed for more than 140 years. Now today we celebrate National Deep Fried Clams Day.
According to legend, it was 300 years ago that the modern deep fried, breaded version of clams is credited to Lawrence Henry “Chubby” Woodman from Essex, Massachusetts. It is believed that his first batch was cooked on July 3, 1916 in his small roadside restaurant, now Woodman’s of Essex.
It was later on that Thomas Soffron of Soffron Brothers Clam Co., based in Ipswich, Massachusetts, created clam strips, which are made from the “foot” of hard-shelled sea clams. Soffron sold these to Howard Johnson’s in an exclusive deal and as the chain expanded, they became popular throughout the country.
In themselves, clams are low in cholesterol and fat, however, when fried they absorb cooking fat.
“Fried clams to New England are what barbecue is to the South.”

Enjoy the following “tried and true” fried clam recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/battered-fried-clams-115269

“A good plan is like a road map: it shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there.” ~H. Stanley Judd

    My November Goals … I'm ALL-IN to
1 - Lose a minimum of 5 pounds this month
2 - maintain maximum calories for the day at goal (+ or - 100 calories) not Thanskgiving
3 - Achieve 81% of checkmarks on Attendance Sheet - a total of 145 out of a possible 179.(I'd say that I want all 179 checkmarks, except my confidence isn't high enough for that ... I think close to 30% higher is achievable with a confidence level of 8 out of 10)

Saturday Success … It’s ironic, the success I’ve put to bed this week is not weight or diet related … but it is health related.
I got the call yesterday that the Amherst Senior Center is definitely sponsoring the Diabetes Self-Management Support Group that I have been working to get started. I was able to contact the other 6 people who wanted to join this group to tell them the date and time for the first meeting.

It’s been approved by the State Health Department and a Diabetes Specialist has been found to lead the group. Our first meeting is November 13th. At that meeting, we will vote to determine exactly how often and when we will be meeting going forward. This Support Group will be in the center’s newsletter and monthly schedule. It’ being ‘written in’ until the next quarterly printing … which will be in January. I am so grateful I found people at the Sr Center that were all for this group and championed it with the Board for consideration. I’m also very grateful to the people who agreed to become starting members of the group. If the leader turns out to be as passionate about Diabetes as his reputation, I do believe I will become an ambassador for this group and talk it up as much as I can so that it continues …

Onward - engage! An elephant bite at a time.

Been on vacation and enjoyed all the food, friends and family. Lucky me!
But.....back in the saddle today. Went shopping for good food, tracking on the food site, and reading all the great things that all you women are doing in your lives.
    Need to walk later.
Read an inspiration quote this week. Never go back! So cool to keep moving forward and making more and more good choices.
    All in
will be alll in for doing
    1. Stomach exercises.
    2. Push up according to your strength.
    3. Walk or bike 45 minutes every day.
    4. Post food and stay under 1400 calories per days or 6 carb servings of 20 grams, less than 25 grams of sugar.

Honest and all in. Great theme for the month as it is so encompassing. Good days ladies.

    October Challenge Stats:
24/31 days under daily calories goal of 1350
(One really terrible, horrible 24 hour period involving Halloween and KitKat bars-may have had something to do with Nat'l Cat Day :o )
    26/31 days of cardio
Weight lost last month: 11 lbs.

    November All-In Challenge:
At or under daily calorie goal of 1350 every day EXCEPT Thanksgiving which will be 2000.
    Cardio 30 minutes/day, 6 days/week (barring emergency or sickness) including T-day.
Weight training 2-3 days/week depending on trainer's schedule.
Increase steps to 10,000/day 6 days/week as long as foot pain doesn't increase
Weight loss goal: 10+ lb. by December 1 (Please, please, please)

Halloween turned out to be "Candy Horror Ween!" I swear to NEVER be alone with 3 cases of KitKats again. NEVER! I will probably pay for the carnage all next week and then some.

Tom: Thanks for the pumpkin photos. You and the Mrs. are very crafty folks!

Niki: What a worthy accomplishment! Your passion will probably save the lives of others struggling with diabetes. Your October Challenge results are worth crowing over also. Good job!

Lori: And you also rocked the October Challenge and crowned it with a 12 lb. loss. Way to Go! Good luck with discussion time today.

Kaye: 150+ donuts and wassail??? Can I be your neighbor? Before our children were born I made monster-big chocolate chip cookies for the trick-or-treaters and nary a child rang our bell :'( My heart was broken though hubby sure enjoyed 'em. Last night I had several cases of full-size KitKats to pass out and most were left over (except what I ate-see above) as the number of doorbell ringers was so paltry. I put 'em in goody bags for Primary children and YW handouts tomorrow since I can't be trusted around the blasted things. Next year maybe I'll go visit the grandkids in UT instead.

RobinsEgg/Ellen: Do you have a World Market near you? Torani has these sugar-free syrups, the kind you put in lattes or steamers (hot milk), and I bought a Pumpkin Pie flavored one and put 2 T. in a mug of hot skim milk for a real yummy treat. The sugar-free syrups come in lots of flavors (Toffee, Hazelnut, Vanilla Cookie to list a few) and two sizes and are 0 calories. BTW, I hope your hip feels better soon.

Beautiful COOL weather here. It's Fall, y'all! <3

    Have a great weekend.

Wonder if I could unload all these extra donuts at church. I made an extra batch this year because I ran out last year. I shouldn't have done that. We had too many.
I have had 2 terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days in a row! Yesterday between a sick baby and making donuts I didn't get time for a walk, and I didn't make time to log. Okay, tomorrow is the start of the "all in" challenge. I can start fresh on Nov. 1st. Right? Not so much. It was cold and rainy all day. DS and his family stayed overnight so I was cooking and eating all day again, and no walk again.
I finished October with 22/31 days under calories, and 194 miles walked, with no change in weight or measurements.
I guess my November challenge starts tomorrow.
    Onward and downward. Kaye

All In challenge- I will take it. I am planning on increasing my level of physical activity this month. I will aim for 5/7 days of formal exercise that will include swimming, climbing, running, biking and weight training/core work. I will do my best to stay under calories this month.

kaye- I am sure the church would love the doughnuts.

Karen- Good luck with the grading. I finally finished one set of papers to night. Now al I have left is the 2nd short response to the final test. I will deal with those on Monday at school with a co-worker.

Tom- Love the pumpkins, you are very artistic.

I did have fun at the party last night but snacked way to much. Today was better but to much candy left over. I may take some it to school and give it to the kids, then again it does taste good.

Tomorrow I am thinking about running a 5K provided it is not freezing cold and the winds have died down. I should go to bed but the Navy, ND game is good. I hope Navy wins. Have a great day tomorrow.

Don't forget to turn your clock back tonight as daylight saving times ends.

    Good morning.

Amy does the carving of the best pumpkins, mine are sometimes pretty good. I can clean them out with the best though.

    Hi everyone!

It's been an interesting couple of days. Friday that Halloween candy kicked my butt--way too much though it didn't put me too far over calorie-wise. I was all ready to hit the gym hard this weekend, then some sort of bug hit me hard. I awoke yesterday feeling very ill--headache, nausea, achiness. At first I thought it was a migraine, but my overall achiness and groggriness leads me to believe it was more than that. I was in bed all day yesterday. Got up twice to try to eat something. Both brief efforts left me exhausted.

This morning I woke up feeling better but still very tired and a bit unsteady. A walk around the block with gunner left me tired, so needless to say, no gym visit today. I did manage to shower and get out of the house to grade. I finished all but 5 of the essays, and I won't grade those b/c the students still haven't submitted them to our online repository on turnitin.com--a requirement for the course. I don't grade the paper copies they give me until they are also submitted electronically. Grades are due tomorrow, so not sure what these kiddos are thinking--a missing essay grade is going to wreak havoc on their quarter grades, but I've reminded them until I'm blue in the face. I even sent individual emails to each of them on Friday as a final reminder. It worked for one of 6 still pending at that point.

Now I'm off to the grocery store, but will be back later to do some personal and Sunday Share. ALso, need to post my personal All-In challenge for November.

    Grading Goals:
    1. 61/66 AP essays
    2. x/60 M1948 vocab 2

    Exercise Goals:
    Sun--walk gunner DONE (barely)
Mon--walk gunner ? meeting, but not sure how late
    Tues--walk gunner + gym
    Wed--walk gunner + gym
    Thurs--rest day P/T conferences
    Fri--walk gunner
    Sat--walk gunner + gym

Karen- Sorry to hear that you were not feeling well this weekend. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Amy- Beautiful pumpkins, you are very talented.

    loosing100bymay-Welcome.

I have had a great weekend that was very busy. I have enjoyed spending time with friends, watching football and just having fun. Of course I finished one set of papers so school work was not completely ignored.

I was under calories today but not by much. I have exercised 2/2 days. Tomorrow, I am contemplating doing my trainer workout then going to swim practice. That will be a long workout but school is closed on Tuesday due to election day.

Nov.2, Yay! I was grounded for 2 days after a steroid shot to help my hip pain after my fall Sept. 9 -. Today I bustled about at last! I am so happy because this signals the END of problems from my fall!
Picked up and put away stuff, did 2 small loads of laundry, took my voting ballot to the Election Office, and my car to the Wash - made a good negotiation with the mgr. and got $5 discount so went ahead and got the interior cleaned as well. Gosh, I thought my windshield was GONE - I could see so WELL! B) - what I thought was a vision problem was merely grime on the interior glass! Will need to keep up on that!
Ready to go ALL IN! but am 0/2 that will change.

@NK1112Niki - I'm fascinated by your Attendance Sheet. I think I need something like that. What format is it in? And PC or Mac? Impressed with your Diabetes Group. Leaders are so hard to come by. Kudos.

@GWhammy - its so sad the kids aren't visiting you any more - when the whole holiday is growing larger each year to boot. Thanks for the World Market and Torani tip. I had been racking my brain trying to remember that brand!!!! Omaha's store closed but I'll try on-line.

@GKaye - sorry your frustrations continue - but the evidence is against you. 9 days above your caloric allowance is more than 1/4 of the month. So, you are still in maintenance mode. Your walking is so impressive however. Do you anticipate much of a drop in exercise once snow falls? How will you compensate?
BTW - donuts are welcome here anytime! :D

@Laurie - seeing the weather report today I fear it was too severe for you to run the 5K - did you?

I hate Daylight Savings Time - I hate the darkness at night. But then, I am a night owl and get off to a late start every day. Perhaps I should just give in to it !

@losing100byMay - welcome! Our Monthly Challenge is posted just 2 or 3 pages back by me and highlighted with banners of red hearts. Care to join in? Its each to do.

@Skinnyjeans - I want to thank YOU for suggesting the ALL IN idea for the November challenge! Somehow I got credit... :o Hey, congrats on getting the bulk of your grading done...shame on those kids who haven't turned them in. But when I took an on-line class 2 years ago, I was hopeless - just hopeless. We used Turnitin also and I fouled up so many times at first -sheesh. But these kids I'm sure are experts at this. Just procrastinators probably.

Hey I love ALL the pictures posted. Cats, dogs, pumpkins, waterfalls, all gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread and new to the whole site. I restarted my weight loss program again after being off it for over 5 years. They were not good years either, I gained back the 50 pounds I had lost and more. I now need to lose about 100-110 pounds. Hopefully by counting my calories and some exercising I'll get there and STAY there! I'm 67 years old so changing my long standing habits and maintaining new ones will be a challenge I'm sure. I'm very excited about my first week, with so much to lose, I set a 1200 or less calorie goal and to workout 20 to 30 minutes a day. I was able to lose 8 pounds but I'm sure much of it was fluid - but not all! I still work part time but I sit all day so no exercise there. My hobbies are: playing bridge, researching the family genealogy, reading, connecting with friends on the computer, etc. So you can see they are all sedentary!! My young grandkids live near me for the first time ever, (if you count a four hour drive near! LOL) and I want to be able to be active with them and not get winded and tired out when we do things together. Looking forward to help and encouragement from this thread as we are all on the same path together.

Cat sitting for friends while they are away. It is just me and the cat and a lot of food. I went to store and bought all I needed and am dilifently logging all of my food and staying under calorie count of 1400 a day. It is challenging to tell myself no snack or food for a few hours or waiting a bit when I think I want to eat but allowing myself to tell me just wait. It is a really new challenging habit for me to think about. Practice makes perfect and just logging on here helps me a lot.
Nice to hear everyones happy days this weekend with exercixe and good food challenges. Weather finally getting cold this weekend. Windy and cold and rainy.

I loved this video. Such a red flag to know why we gain weight back. I imagine that you drop 300 calories a day and increase your exercise and you will probably find middle ground and stay at your same weight. Sooooooo much sensible info. Thanks!
