0% weight loss this week. I weigh 0.4 more than I did last friday. I feel like crying today. I worked as hard as I could and this is just slapping me in the face. I dont understand what I'm doing wrong.
Mari, the muscles retaining water is exactly what happened to me when I started exercising. Keep on keepin' on and you WILL catch up on results!0 -
Also, I'm going to rant a little bit and it's going to be way tmi.
I hate TOM. It ruins every single vacation I have from work. Every. Single. One. I don't understand how it's possible. I was off November 7-11th. Guess when TOM showed up! November 6th. Yep. Then, I was off November 26-29. Guess when TOM showed up. November 25, just 18 days after it showed up the time before. Now, it's December 18, 23 days after last time. WHERE IS TOM? Apparently TOM's planning to be fashionably late (I normally have a much shorter cycle than 28 days - lucky me) in order to ruin Christmas, too. It's just ridiculous! :ohwell:
This might be none of my business, but have you talked to your gynocologist(spelling) Because that seems too often especially for a girl as young as you are. Hope I did not over step my boundries, but I think you should go and see your doctor. At the very least some sort of birthcontrol pill could make it more regular assumeing you are not allergic or anything.
I am going to have to agree with Momma. I think you need to visit your OBGYN. Make sure you tell him/her your food and exercise routine. And jlb, I am so happy for you that you are finally seeing results. That is so important for staying on the wagon!
Thank you very much for the concern, but no worries ladies! My ob/gyn is aware. I have been like this for... well, since I was 12. Normally my cycle runs 20-24 days, so it did come a couple days earlier than expected in November, but it's still not too far out of the ordinary for me. I have been on birth control for a few years and it does regulate it for the most part, but I stopped taking it last year. I've thought about starting again because I do get annoyed with it, but I so dread being sick for months after starting it again. I get pretty bad morning sickness type symptoms for the first few months after I start the pill. My GYN says although the AVERAGE cycle is 28 days, it's perfectly normal to have a cycle that's 20 or 21 days. It's also perfectly normal to have a cycle that's 35 days. So, I just count myself as one of the super uber lucky ones who gets a bimonthly gift some months. :ohwell:0 -
Zora, Jib..thanks for all the motivation. you guys are great. and you're probably right. I'm a noob to exercising, I always thought I could diet and get away with dropping the weight without being active. I know now that I can't (or rather, that I shouldnt). My goal is going to be to exersice for 90 minutes a week at least, that's 3 days with 30 minutes. I figure thats' the best place to start so I dont get overloaded. Thanks again, I'll just have to not get all bent out of shape when I have my defeats.0

check in: 12/18/09
Calories: yup - 1,247
exercise: yup - w6d2.consists of 5 minutes brisk walk, 10 minutes of running (5mph), 3 minutes of brisk walk(4.0), 10 minutes of running(5.0), and 5 minutes of cool down(3.5)...burned(what it says on the treadmill 370 calories..and walked 2.06 miles)...about 35 minutes.
water: 11 cups
proud: that i didn't fall off the treadmill with my running...lol.
Have a nice evening everyone!:happy:0 -
I've done well to day on calories - I should end up around 1150. I'm wearing heals and a suit today so no stairs LOL! I did OK on water, I'll have to get some more in tonight!
I'm debating taking our beagle to my parents farm this weekend. The beagle (Betsy) is pretty happy to take long walks! Our indoor dog is a Neo Mastiff "Figgy" (super ugly/cute 115lbs of girl) and she doesn't like to walk much farther than from her doggy bed to her food bowl. The down side of the beagle is that if she gets lose on us she'll be gone for a week or two. It's deer season in Ohio which means there's lots of deer innards left out in the woods. If the dogs aren't snacking on them, they're rolling in them and either way they forget all about home and hearth until they've run themselves silly.
If' I'm at the farm there is no internet so I won't check back in until Monday!

Water getting ready to drink another 32 ounces so thats 128 ounces for the day
It is snowing like made here we are under a winter warning and are suppose to get up to 20 inches by the time the weekend is over.
I will weigh in tomorrow because I forgot to today and I don't want to weigh in tonight because I know its not right becase of all the water and food i have ate today.0 -
so my weigh in this evening is 231 but I will check in the morning for accuracy but if its right I have lost 4 pounds this week0
-
Well since the scale isn't budging very much thought i would look at inches. I started taking measurements the 1st of november so in 7 weeks I have lost 9.5 inches.0
-
check in:
cals: a little over (200) - broke down and ate three cookies. :grumble:
water: 64
exercise: 40 mins bike
proud: that I turned down a work party tonight because I am sick. Sounds weird to say I am proud of that, but normally I push myself around this time of year to the point of exhaustion. I am not feeling well so I decided to take care of myself first and not go to the party.0 -

Holy bajolies, lildeb! That is FANTASTIC!!!!!!! Congrats!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
hey ladies.. no weight loss this week.. but am maintianing..
My husbands work is self insured and have implemented a new FREE health Clinic for the people that work for the county. Can see the Dr. for most normal things as well as 40 FREE generic medications on site. In order to be able to use the clinic any adult in the household had to go and get their blood drawn so they could see where you were and try and prevent major health issues later. With that said, I got my blood work back today and well... not sure what to think.
Last spring my blood work was
Thyroid - normal
glucose - normal
cholesterol - (High) but was told by that dr. That they now look at your HDL, LDL and Triglycerides and that my good cholesterol outweigh my bad so, there was nothing to worry about.
Today they are telling me (different Dr.)
Thyroid is not working right 3.5 (should be 3.0) causing me to not loose the weight like I should be able to
cholesterol - (High) even though the HDL, LDL were good. They are wanting me to go on medication. .. Really?
Glucose - normal
I guess it is just frustrating how 2 different Dr. can have such different recommendations and finding on tests.
:grumble:
Well.. calories good
Exercise great
Water better. but still working on it
Proud I did not come uncorked with all the crazy people around town today! Holy cow.. it was like REALLY?.. are you in THAT big of a hurry?.. All I could do was say Merry Christmas and smile! Glad I am home with my kids now! Looking forward to whats left of this night! Another busy day tomorrow!
:bigsmile:0 -
Sorry about the different blood results, i can imagine that is frustrating.0
-
Calories: 1490 (stayed within my cals today!)
exercise: On my feet again today doing hair......7 hours, that has to count for some sort of activity right? I do mark lightly active in my goals, so I am not trying to get cals for it.....but I am pooped when I get in, I can say that.
water: 96 ounces
proud: that I didn't eat Mcdonalds again today (it is outside my school door 12 steps from the door.
So I am one that seems unable to start EVERYTHING all at once, so I have started with the food portion and then I am going to work on working out next week.
So for now I have lost 0 since my joining.0 -
12.18.09
Calories: 1,515 Treated myself to pizza for dinner. It was planned. I'm not worried about my calories & my sodium intake was way higher than usual, but it was guilt free because I haven't splurged in a while. And, in the scheme of things, 1,515 still puts me at a pretty big deficit for the day.
Exercise: Nothing other than normal daily activity (5 flights of stairs, light house cleaning). First day in a long time I haven't exercised. Bf convinced me to sleep in this morning instead of getting up 30 minutes early to exercise.
Water: Around 100oz
Proud: Had a good weigh-in. I've lost 40 pounds! I'm super happy about that. Especially since my motivation is still strong.0 -
12.18.2009
Calories - over by 150 cals
water - way under
Exercise - if you count christmas shopping for 4 hours and walking around all the stores.
proud - I didn't binge on anything while out christmas shopping ( i thought about it several times, but pushed through and didn't do it)
This morning i was very happy with my scale...wish it was yesterday but stil..I was under 290, barely but under..hopefully i can keep it under all week..
Jib - WTG on the 40 lbs loss0 -
I think it was Snowflakes that mentioned this earlier, but I'm down for a Christmas day weigh-in.
I guess no one else is going to weigh in for last week -- was I the biggest loser? If so, my challenge for this week is for you to LOG EVERYTHING you can. I didn't log on Thanksgiving, and I'm not planning to log Christmas Day (although I will be logging mentally). But, I will be logging the dinner I'm cooking for my bf and his mom Christmas Eve. I'll be logging the treat day we're having at work on Tuesday. I'll be logging every cookie I put in my mouth over the next week.
It's easy to get carried away when you're not logging. If I wasn't logging, I'd be tempted to eat 5 or 6 cookies, or maybe more, instead of just 2 or 3. Just keep it real this week. Enjoy yourself. Don't deprive yourself, but don't lose your mind, either! And if you do happen to lose it for a day, get right back on track as soon as possible -- don't wait for "tomorrow" or "next monday" or January 1st." Do it immediately!0 -
I am definitely in for a Christmas weigh-in. I am hoping to just maintain this week, but if I gain, well, life will go on and I know now that I can do it, so hey why not face that blasted scale?!!! My biggest problem is actually the week AFTER Christmas. My brother comes in from Boston and we traditionally eat out almost every single night as a family. I think this year I will fix a few healthy meals for us that week, just to mix it up.
I am very sick - I think it is pneumonia. I am going to the doc on Monday. I have antibiotics until then to get a jump start. I usually get some sort of lung/bronchial dealie in the winter - my immune system is low, always has been since I was little. I am trying to get a lot of rest now so that I can start my singing gigs on Monday. I usually sing through the entire week before and after Christmas. I love it, and it is good money. I hope I can beat this illness! Please pray for me, if you are the praying type.0 -
I am up for a christmas morning weigh in....as of this morning under 290 ...my goal for friday is just to stay there. M- w is normal work stuff so I should be able to do pretty good.hopefully i will kick butt so a little giving in on christmas eve and christmas will even out.
Our favorite thing to do is making Christmas cookies the icing kind.. My goal this year is to not be licking the spoons (and bowls) of the icing. I am going to allow myself to have a few cookies not the whole batch.0 -
I will probably weigh in on Boxing Day, instead of Christmas day. I use my Wii Fit to weigh myself, and it is in the living room. I don't want to make the kids wait to open presents until I weight myself LOL.
today -
calories - a little over (too many cookies...)
water - on track
exercise - 30 min walk/job (week 4 day 1 couch25k)
proud - I jogged a full 5 min x2 LOL It was hard, but it didn't kill me.0 -
12.19.09
Calories: 1,286
Exercise: Couch25K Week 4 day 2
Water: Working on it - about 6 cups so far
Proud: I did c25k even though I wasn't feeling so hot.
I still can't make it through the whole 5 minutes on the last run interval. I'll definitely be repeating week 4 unless something miraculous happens Monday.0 -
Helloooo. Good news! I know I wasnt supposed to weigh today, but I did and I was 254.8! Wow!I dropped nearly 3 pounds overnight! I guess it really was just water. Anyway, with renewed enthusiasm I started today off good.
12/19/09
Calories: Surprisingly, right on. i splurged at bonefish and stayed under, yay!
Water: right on
Exersice: light walking/shopping
Proud: That I made healthy choices at dinner and didnt eat candy all day even though my family was! I'm trying to encourage my mom to start on MFP too and even join this group. I hope she listens to me!0 -
I had too much difficulty breathing today so I went to the ER, and yes, I have pneumonia. Very depressing. The docs told me I could keep on with my singing jobs, but if I feel any tightness in my chest I need to stop and rest. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but at least I don't have to be on bedrest for some ungodly week or two. The problem is, I feel tightness in my chest every minute. :ohwell:
check in:
cals: over by 200
water: under
exercise: I squeezed in 20 minutes on the bike, but I had to stop and rest every 3 or so mins.
proud: that even though I wanted to stay in denial until Christmas was over, I went to the hospital today. :indifferent:0 -
Oh Zora.. I hope you get better really soon! You will be in my thoughts and prayers.. Take extra good care of yourself! :happy:0

Water: all most
Proud: That I have some pretty terrific sons. We had a fabulous day as a family today.0 -
zora - take care of yourself.
funny thing, i was playing with the kids yesteray and my pants fell down...like down down, not just falling down but to the floor falling..my 6 yr old thought it was funny. I know these pants are probably not going to have much longer life but i like wearing them, makes me feel like i am loosing...i have the next size they are just still a little tight ..and if wear them i know in my had i will feel fat , so i am going to wear these as much as i can until they won't stay up at all I work from home so not like I need to wear "real" clothes everyday, i put my jeans on for 10 min in the mornings to take the kids to day care then in jammies all day.
It does make me feel good beucase these 26's i am wearing at one point a few months ago were actually staring to get tight and now they are falling off.0 -
Helloooo. Good news! I know I wasnt supposed to weigh today, but I did and I was 254.8! Wow!I dropped nearly 3 pounds overnight! I guess it really was just water.
Would I lie to you? Congrats on being such a big loser!
Zora -- take care of yourself! It's okay to lay off exercise until you feel better -- since it's pneumonia, exercise really could make it worse. :frown: Please take it easy & feel better soon!
snowflakes - yep, 40 pounds since September 8th!
lildebbie - way to go on losing your pants!
I met my New Year's goal today! I was quite surprised because I went over my calories a little Friday really really really ate a lot of sodium Friday and yesterday. Plus I'm bloated for other reasons.0 -

Way to go on meeting your 1/1 goal That is awesome.0 -
jlb, congrats on your goal, or should I say, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!
Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. I am feeling better today. I know not to push it - been down that road before, and rebound pneumonia is NOT FUN. It comes back with a vengeance if you don't take care of yourself with the initial diagnosis. I sang at my two scheduled church services, went to a rehearsal, got a substitute for my Christmas luncheon gig, and am staying home tonight with my cup of no sugar added hot chocolate. I made it through service #1 with flying colors (still high on the enormous prednisone shot they gave me at the hospital!), service #2 - pretty good until the last ten or so minutes, then felt a little icky, so I sat for the last ten mins. Rehearsal went well - NO ONE wants to sit by the pneumonia girl (even though I am not contagious - musicians, grr! I'm that way, too, so I don't mind! Gotta take care of your collateral!!!) so I had a lot of space and sat the entire two hours!
I am so turned on by exercising lately that I HATE to stop. I FINALLY got to a place where I LIKE it and it's fun and I see major results in my energy levels. The docs said I could do 20 mins or so, but to stop when I feel tightness in my chest. I will definitely stop when I feel icky.
Sorry to go on about my illness. It's just new for me to be sick and to actually be doing great weight-loss-wise at the same time. Kind of freaked. :ohwell:0
