:explode: WARNING - Lots of WHINING!
Our most difficult manager just told us he's coming into the office tomorrow afternoon. If he wasn't coming in another department VP would have walked over around 2PM and told us to go home and "Merry Christmas". That's probably why Jason's coming in - to make sure we are all here until Five. It's so ridiculous! We're salary and most of us have been putting in 60 -70 hours the last few weeks.
What a jerk.0 -
Momma - I have talked to her several times, she sometimes tell me nothing and others we give abby (our 3 yr old) more attention, but when I try to do stuff with just her she still does it...soo i don't know... We will see how she does today.
good news - I got off an hour early--- bad news - I am on call this week so our people that have to work later i could get calls...i hate being on call i hate it,...and i really hate it being on christmas.. i am hoping it is just totally dead...i can only wish.0 -
Sorry girls that I haven't been around but unfortunately I have been with out power, water or heat for the past 5 days.I have had to bundle my babies in blankets to keep warm and my youngest had to spend her 3rd birthday in the cold and dark.We received 26 inches of snow in two days time that knocked out everything.Trees in the roads, powerlines in the roads.Horrible mess!! I have had a horrible chest cold since but I am hoping to be back into my 2 hour routine of exercising on Monday morning.I may fit in a bit of exercise this weekend but it just depends on how I feel.I haven't been eating all to much because I am sick.I think I may have pneumonia from being so cold the past five days but I am slowly getting better I believe.I haven't weighed myself so I am hoping I haven't gained again. If I don't talk to any of you tomorrow or Friday Have a Wonderful and Blessing Filled Christmas.Keep up the hard work I am as soon as I am better lol.0
-
mstahl - so sorry you had to stay today. I get that same thing at my work. I hate Big Brother.
awestfall - please be careful with your health. You know I currently have pneumonia and it is NO fun. Get to the doctor as soon as you can. I am so sorry to hear about your huge snow accumulation and the calamity it has caused. Five days with no power is a LONG time with little ones. :frown: Heck, it's a long time for grown-ups! Please try to take it easy and I am grateful you now have power.
check in:
cals: perfect
water: 64
exercise: 40 mins bike
proud: that I didn't overeat today - finally! I think we'll all get back on track on Monday!0 -
thanks Zora !!! I plan to get to the doc as soon as I can.For now I am just trying to watch my calories and not overexert myself to much.I have been exhausted for the past 5 days now.Sitting up worrying if my girls were going to be warm enough or even worrying that they may get sick themselves.I am so thankful we are all ok other than the fact that I am sick.0

Make sure you eat enough while you're sick. Take care of yourself! I hope your girls are old enough that the can remember the BIG ADVENTURE BLIZARD and not so old that it's a night mare! I still remember the blizzards of the late 70s and while I'm sure my parents were stressed we kids had a blast!
Uhg - lights just went out here at work which I think means I should go home! I've been here 14 hours  I love LOVE LOVE my job but my management team makes life difficult for all of us. Overall the organization is great - just not this corner.
I'm under in calories but I might still try to eat dinner tonight.
Under in water
Under in Exercise
Proud that I didn't mouth off to my manager when he made a comment that left the door wide open. My co-workers were all like "WHOA" cause usually I can't resist!0 -

Calories: will be at 1,327 after I have a sweet treat from a coworker. Whew - I did better today with sweet treat temptation. I had too much sodium, but I figure I'm bloated anyway thanks to TOM so who cares!?
Exercise: 30 minutes exercise bike. I'll do some cleaning later (I hope).
Water: I'm at about 10 cups right now.
Proud: Kept my sweet tooth under control. So much so that I accidentally left the rest of the cookies I had taken for my coworkers at work so they'll be waiting for me when I go back next Tuesday. :ohwell:
awestfall -- ouch, 5 days? I don't know how you made it. The longest I remember being without power is 3 days, I believe. It may have been longer when I was a kid, but those 3 days as an adult were pure torture! I was in college & the ice melted off the roads before the power came back on, so my roommates and I had to go back to classes after not having showered for 3 days. Super gross.
mstahl - Sorry you're stuck at work this week. :frown:0 -
Today was crazy busy. I had to run to town to take care of a couple of errands and talk about people everywhere. I'm glad that my shopping is done.
Today is my In-laws Christmas day, all the cousins exchange gifts and eat a fabulous feast. Love the yearly traditions.
awestfall: My heart goes out to you and your family for all you endured this last week. I hope that you are feeling better and will be able to enjoy Christmas. You will be in my prayers.
jlb123: The paper cut story is over the top. It's a wonder that they didn't call 911 and throw an ambulance ride into the ordeal. There is a tv program about stupid criminals. You may be on to something reporting the ridiculous workers comp issues.
zorahope: Good job on your reporting. throwing a hive five your way. Keep up the good work.
mstahl: It seems that there are a lot of upper management personnel are good at what they do, then get promoted and are lousy in management. I can relate to holding bachk a comment, it is like I make hamburger out of my tongue trying to hold it in.  Not always successful.
Calories: yes
Exercies: yes, light
Water: not quite
Proud: I had NO seconds on dinner and I didn't take any of a couple of dishes.0 -
I did my weigh in today...I was a little nervous due to that I had some yummy cookies last night.
This morning I weighed in at 288.9.. that is 1.9 lbs. I am very proud of this as it put me under 20 lbs and in the 280's.
HOPefully i will maintain that through the holiday's.
Awestfall - So sorry you are not feeling good and the no power and such.
Yesterday day it was sunny and 75, today it is cold and rainy, and we are supposed to get Snow....how freaking wacky.0 -
ALso my % is .68 %0

Ok.. so, I am behind here.. Took a little while to read and catch up, but thanks for all the stores and giggles! I am so grateful for this group! You ladies are the greatest!!
Lildebbie - sorry to hear about your daughter. I don't know if this will help or not. But, my son had similar issues. We simply made a BIG deal about it when he would go potty in the potty and did not go crazy (like I wanted to) when he had an "accident". We did this by cutting him off fro ALL candy. placing a jar in the bathroom with a lid of his favorite candy (skittles) and then everytime he used the potty (get ready for Many many trips) gave him a skittle. I think we had this problem licked in about a week. Maybe after Christmas things will settle down a little.
awestfall- Sorry to hear about the health and the power thing.. hang in there.. I hope everything improves in the very near future!
zora and Snowflakes - Great job! Keep up the great work! You guys are an inspiration!
mstahl- hopefully you can enjoy the holidays.. it is too bad that some people really do not look at the "Big" picture!
jib123 - paper cut.. seriously.. OMG I am still giggling.. but it is really sad what some people will do and not think twice of the repercussions and how the trickle down.
So, one of my clients told me about this "Elf on the Shelff" I thought this would be great for any of you that have small children. She said they put there's out at thanksgiving and that her kids are so excited each morning to go find the elf. So, I thought I would share.
Synopsis
The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition™ is an activity the entire family will enjoy. Based on the tradition Carol Aebersold began with her family in the 1970s, this cleverly rhymed children's book explains that Santa knows who is naughty and/or nice because he sends a scout elf to every home. During the holiday season, the elf watches children by day and reports to Santa each night. When children awake, the elf has returned from the North Pole and can be found hiding in a different location. This activity allows The Elf on the Shelf to become a delightful hide-and-seek game. Each Tradition-in-a-Box™ comes with its very own scout elf, a hardbound children's book and a keepsake box for easy storage. In addition, each shipment is marked for "Special Delivery" from Santa's workshop.
Sorry, I have been MIA. I have been been busy busy busy! Work has kept me busy and those gift certificate sales are still coming in. It always surprises me when someone buys a 150.00 G/C on Christmas eve and wants it mailed there in time for Christmas (gotta love those last minute shoppers). So, we will be making a few stops to deliver G/C before we leave town today!
My step daughter is here for a couple of days. Last night we had chili with chicken.. YUM. Then we made some hot cocoa and loaded up the HUGE rental Suburban (should have our truck back Monday) with all four kids plus the daughter in law. We turned on some Christmas music and drove around in our snow covered tundra looking at Christmas lights! I am pretty sure we made some new memories and everyone had a blast!
Today we are heading to Denver to my in-laws, tomorrow, we are having a quiet Christmas at home and then Saturday we are heading about 100 miles east to my families for one last Christmas celebration.
Have not really been keeping track of anything, but have been trying not to over indulge. I will be back in full swing "like mama" next week! sorry this is so long.. and I will check back in later! Merry Christmas everyone!0 -
Lildeb: WOOOOHOOOO!!!! I am feeling your joy, sister! I know you have been waiting for those darn 280s and you did it! What a Christmas present to yourself! Merry Christmas, rock star!!! :flowerforyou: Some day (er, year) when I finally get there I hope we can look back and fondly remember about how today felt for you!!!
I have some good news, too. I weighed in this morning and I lost 5.5 pounds! :noway: :noway: :noway: Now I am very excited, don't get me wrong, but that is a LOT so I am not sure why. And it can't be because I under ate, because as you all know I have been on the steroids for the pneumonia and I have overeaten almost ever single day! Maybe I need more calories and I finally got them this week? I will say that except for two run-ins with cookies, all of my over calories have been healthy. I know I should not analyze this, but everyone please remind me next week if I weigh in and the scale is not kind or takes back what it gave that these holiday weeks are crazy scale-wise! I am still very happy to see 449. Only 9 more to go to get to my "before weight" - before I went on my last liquid starvation I was at 440 and lost 75, then gained it back plus 45 more. :grumble: This time I am doing it right!!! No more starvation! No more crash diets!!!
weight: down 5.5

About Wednesday-
I got home at 10:30 and my husband had the fire going, a bottle of wine open and my favorite cheese. Had that been it I would have been fine, but he warmed up some left overs so I was over by 150 calories. I was way under on Tuesday so I'm OK with it (kinda!).
I slept in late this morning (till SIX!) and didn't get into work until 7:30 but omg was traffic light! Best commute ever! I'm being kinda mean to a subordinate by making him re-do some work - but in fairness he was supposed to get it done for me while I was out on FMLA back in August and he's been dragging his feet until he finally got it done yesterday at five. I stayed late to review and it wasn't right. If I hadn't had him re-do it our boss would have made him anyway... but I know he's anxious to get home to his little boys!
Yesterday my boss wrote up three of my co-workers - such a nice holiday gift! None of them had ever been written up in their entire careers and they were all wigging out. The boss had only had me under him but a few months ago they moved about a third of the department under him. I think the HR hot-line was active last night I expect to be written up next week because one of my projects isn't done yet and it's now unlikely to be completed prior to the end of the year.
Oh well! Enough whining eh? On the upside, thanks to Amazon and our emergency credit card all my shopping is complete!!!0 -
We went to lunch at PF Changs. Four of us shared an order of the Tofu Lettuce tacos, I ordered the lunch bowl of grilled salmon and shared some of the salmon with a co-worker who shared some of his lamb dish with me. I only ate bits of the brown rice, and I had the unsweetened green iced tea to drink. I ate over 500 calories but they were GOOD calories!
I'm hoping to avoid any tonight, which shouldn't be too hard with mom's dried out ham...
Our manager told us to go home now (shocking and now I have to take back what I said about him yesterday!). He left but most of us are still here because we have all this work that has to be done by the end of the year.
Hope you're all have a fabulous time with your families!
~Melinda0 -
Ohhh this is a holiday challenge! I went out for a few drinks with co-workers and ZIPPP there went 351 calories in three bloody Marys.
But it's 4:30 and I'm back in the office working for at least three more hours! I'll try to take the stairs a few times to cut back a bit on the damage. I while I'm still 100 calories short for the day I assume I'll be having some wine at dinner tonight (I'll give up the dry ham without regrets!)
Again, I keep smiling when I think of the rest of you hanging out with family today/ tonight. I envy those of you with small children because that makes Christmas so extra magical!
Only one of our grandchildren still believes in Santa Claus - and of course our 18 month old Mastiff believes... but "She naught dat smaut so she not shoo bout dat old guy wis da deer." Honest - bloody mary or not that is exactly how our Mastiff "Mrs. Fig" or "Figgy" talks! (and yes, I walked back to the office).0 -
looks we are having a white christmas in Dallas. I has been snowing since noon, it is 4 now., it is coming down pretty good now.
It is nice just looking at but my husband is at work till 6 , i am hoping he gets home safely and hoping it melts before tomorrow mid day so we can go to my moms.0 -
Thanks for all the kind thoughts and prayers.I am feeling much better today and we have power fully restored and heat and everything.I cooked our Christmas dinner today and I only had one plate.I hope I feel good enough to exercise again in the next few days.THanks again and Merry Christmas.0

Checking in for the day -- not a lot of good to report here for the day but I did well considering. There is SO much junk in my kitchen right now it's kind of unbelievable and almost makes me sick to even think about it. I guess the (relative) good I can report is that all the junk I ate is 1.5 cookies, a wafer stick, and a cup of hot chocolate. If you could see my kitchen, trust me, you'd be very impressed that's all I got into.
I cooked dinner for my boyfriend and his mom & then I overate. Not too terrible but I'm definitely way over calories for the day, especially since I didn't do any official exercise (but I did a LOT of cleaning and cooking which I'm sure counts for something since I normally sit behind a desk for 8 hours). I haven't figured the calories in the food I made and I'm really not going to worry about it because I'm pretty sure I'm still under maintenance calories for the day.
The scale has been wonky for me this week thanks to TOM, who's sticking around for Christmas but I did like what it said this morning better than previous mornings. I'm sure it'll go up for tomorrow considering I'm still pretty full and we ate a couple hours ago. But, man, I'm a good cook. My bf's mom (who is tiny) ate more than I've EVER seen her eat. Ever. So it must've been good.
Enjoy the white Christmas Debbie! We're getting the precip tomorrow... in the form of thunderstorms. :ohwell: They were forecasting snow showers tomorrow for a few days, but now the forecasted high temp is all the way up to 67, I believe, so definitely no white Christmas for us!
I'll weigh in the morning but I'm not sure if I'll have time to check in until I get home tomorrow night. I have breakfast to make and a car to clean and then we're driving to my mom's house (which is about 100 miles away) for the day. I'm excited. I love my mom & stepdad, but I'm especially excited to see my brother. This time last year he was going through a really rough time with addiction to prescription meds and alcohol. I was so worried about him it kind of ruined the holidays for me (and my mother). He's doing SO WELL now. I'm really proud of him.0 -
Oh the devine food that for some reason we only seem to eat at Christmas time! An incredable day spent with just our little family. I logged my food after the fact today, and thank goodness for exercise calories. I counted 90 minutes of cooking towards calories burned today.
Calories: yes
Exercise: yes - cooking
Water: no
Proud: that I planned well and didn't take seconds.0 -
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
I just got home from my last singing gig of the day. Whew. It's 2:27am.
I overate again, not so healthy this time. The 4 crab rangoon and 3 chocolate chip cookies got me, plus the entire order of lemon chicken with brown rice. I loved every single bite, so I am not sad! It was a lot of fun to catch dinner with part of my family and some old family friends. (oh yeah, did I mention the double scotch on the rocks? LOL Ooops.) I'm not making excuses for overeating, but I am just going to enjoy myself for these few days of family time and stop worrying about the darn calories.
check-in:
cals: WAY over (like 600)
water: over 64
scotch: WAY over (LOL)
exercise: NONE (except standing constantly to perform)
proud: I had a good time and forgot about counting calories for just this one great day0 -
Wishing you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Love the season of special times with family and most importantly love the reason for the season all because of a babe born in a manger. His life and teaching is what I try to pattern my life after, it is Christ who gives me strength and meaning and direction in living life fully.
It's cold with blue sky and sun, we are going to have fun playing outside snow shoeing, and snowmobiling.

Happy Holidays everyone!!:)0 -
Merry Christmas everyone! I've just been catching up with the posts from the past week. Wow there is a lot going on for everyone, so I'm not going to try to catch up with comments on everything - just good job to everyone during this challenging food week and hang in there to everyone having extra challenges at home and work!
I haven't had a great exercise week ... haven't done anything since last Saturday because of Christmas parties and snow. I will get back to the Y in the morning unless we have more snow, but I"m really hoping the roads will be clear enough by then. I haven't been doing my challenge of tracking my food this week ... even though I think it would have been a great idea ... I'm just trying to not overstuff myself but still enjoy the foods that I like within reason, and I've been doing ok. I did weigh myself this morning - was glad that we talked about doing that because it was motivating. I was really happy to see that I have only gained .4 pounds since last week ... so I was 237.2 (last week 236.6). So a gain ... but much better than I was expecting and still basically mainting through the holidays which is my goal.
I'd better start helping my husband clean before my parents get here. We usually spend Christmas Day just my husband and kids in our jammies all day playing with their new presents... but since my mother's sister passed away this fall, and my dad's mother passed away earlier in the summer - I thought I should invite my parents to join us today since they used to spend Christmas Day visiting my grandma and my Aunt and now don't have either of them to visit. It has made for some sad times during the holidays but I have tried not to dwell on it too much. I know they are still with us in many ways. My brother is also joining us since he is alone, fairly recently divorced so his 3 kids are with his ex-wife. It will be different, but as my husband pointed out - every Christmas is going to be different from now on with the kids growing up - so we need to just roll with the changes.
Have a great Christmas Day everyone! I'm glad you are all here and we are taking care of ourselves so much better than in the past!0 -

Hope every had a great Christmas. We had a good one (except a little drama with the girls this morning) but for the most part it was great. We have moved away for 2 yrs and this is the 1st Christmas where we are back here with my mom and sister so It was real nice being with them for Christmas. The girls got soooo much stuff...they aren't even done yet, we are getting with my dad on Sunday and my husbands family in a few weeks...my house looks like a tornado hit it.0

Calories: yes
Exercise: yes
Water: didn't measure I''m guessing pretty close
Proud: that I have stuck with it. Thank you all for your encouragement.0 -
check in:
cals: well...didn't really count but if I could guess I'd say I was over by about 600 (2 SMALL pieces of coconut creme pie!)
water: got it all in (was craving it because the food was so salty at the buffet)
exercise: none
proud: I carried my little nephew Andrew around a lot today. I know this sounds like nothing, but for me it is huge because I have a bad knee and I never feel strong enough to manage his wiggly body while walking. Usually my knee hurts and I don't offer to carry him. I didn't even think about it, and before I knew it I was toting him around, up a few stairs, down a few! I think my family was in shock!!! I think I was too!!!0 -
had a great day yeserday and ate way too much stuff i shouldn't have...now I am paying for it, my stomach is dying his morning...proofing my body doesn't like this bad food anymore.0

I'm going to say zero for my weekly weigh in because when I left work Christmas eve I was still up for the week and Christmas morning on my Mom's scale I'd dropped ten pounds! A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE! (not).
I find my parents stressful. So that's my excuse for being over in Calories Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - and I know this sounds pretty week, but the fact that I didn't break 2000 calories either day seems like a miracle to me! I did manage to track just about every bite!
Today we have lunch at a favorite local bar and grill. I'm sure I'll have a pint of Christmas Ale and something from the deep fryer but I'm going to plan that out and make sure I have PLENTY of high fiber low cal food before we go so I'm not so hungry. Yesterday I ate 2000 calories and was STARVING the entire day
I'm going to work from home a few hours today and maybe go into the office tomorrow - or maybe just work from my couch in front of the fire ;-)
I know I only joined this group a couple of weeks ago, but I thought of each of you yesterday and I hope you all had a grand day!0
