lildebbie: AAAAHHHHGGGG!!! Kids sure have a mind of their own. Maybe since Santa knows if you have been naughty or nice if you are sleeping or if you are awake, I'm sure that he knows if you pee on yourself and a nice little motivation letter could be sent to her from Santa. Hang in there she will be in college before you know it.

I threaten her with santa and she cries, but like nothing matters. She does this (she knows how to go), is horrible at school...make me feel like such a horrible mother like maybe i wasn't cut out for this..

I know this may sound weak, but just keep breathing and know that one day getting her to stop peeing on herself will be her husband's problem not yours!

My aunt told my cousin (who would poop in his pants in kindergarten) "I give up! You're wife can potty train you!". After that things kinda got better. My aunt taught him how to clean his pants out like a dirty cloth diaper and put them in the laundry. She just stopped getting mad and acted like it was how things would always be. About six months later (yes six MONTHS) he just stopped doing it. Rick is now a pretty successful business man with a beautiful wife and two nice little girls.

This too shall pass - just make sure you take care of YOU so you can have the endurance.

    You'll do fine!

I'm about to head home for work - I came in at 7:30 but I did run out for a dentist appointment at 4:30 so I haven't been here the entire time :)

If I can resist the second glass of wine I'll be UNDER in calories!
    Water is low :(
Exercise is OK (walked four flights of stairs three times)

I'm proud I chose to eat a hard boiled egg rather than the chocolate or cookies sitting behind me on the counter. No one has been in the office for the past couple hours and those cookies and chocolates SURE LOOKED LONELY! I decided to trade out the calories from my (budgeted) 2nd glass of wine later tonight, in favor of the egg. Good choice by good choice I shall make it!

I'll let you know tomorrow if I held strong!

Debbie, Hang in there. I have one girl and two boys and my daughter( who is 14 ) is always testing my patience. I can't say what going on with you daughter, but my daughter would do things like that when she wanted more attention. She is the oldest of the three so that is why i get things like "you like him more than me," but on the contrary, of course, i have to explain to her (did i mention that she is 14) that i LOVE all of you the same...no favorites here.

I think with girls, speaking from a girls prespective, they demand more attention...it could be just sitting and reading a book with them...something that would require time (just you and her) that makes her feel special. on a last note, i have had more problems (rebelling or testing my patience) then with my other two children...and that is when we have mother/daughter time (watching a movie, cooking/baking, talking about school) anything that opens the doors for communication.

i thing what your daughter is doing is Normal...don't worry...talk to her and see what going on...has things changed in school...(an example).

take care and hang in..it does get better :)

Calories: 1,557 Darn those stupid vanilla bark covered peanut buttter crackers. I was perfectly on track until I ate 3 of those. They seemed so harmless. It's sabotage by coworkers, I tell you! (accountability? ) Eh, at least I was still under my exercise calories.
    Exercise: 30 minutes stationary bike
    Water: over 100 oz
Proud: I'm glad I got up early to exercise even though my uterus was kicking my butt (and still is). I'm proud I didn't eat any doughnuts or fudge, or even cookies yesterday even though it was all right outside my office door all day.

LilDebbie - I'm so happy for you that you went out to eat and made a great choice! Sorry to hear your daughter's having problems -- I'm not a mom so I don't have any valid advice. Your daughter is just like my little dog ( ), who's healing from breaking his leg & has to stay crated. He, was perfect for 3 months with not messing his crate and just started peeing his crate a few weeks ago whenever he wants attention. ARGH! We'll go out to potty, come back in, and then he'll immediately pee his crate. He knows if he does that, then I have to come back to him, wipe him down, wash his bed, clean the crate, all the while he gets to prance around next to me on a leash because there's nowhere else clean & safe for him to go while I do it. :ohwell:

Okay, I had to share the ridiculousness of this -- it has kind of made my day today. Sorry it's so long -- it may or may not be worth the read.

As you may or may not know, I work in HR specializing in employee benefits including things like leave, insurance, retirement, and worker's compensation. So, I work at headquarters and we have about 70 offices throughout the state but we don't have HR people in each office, we're all here at headquarters so the supervisors of each office have to take care of some of the HR duties, like filing reports of injury for worker's comp. Sometimes they call us for assistance with the process, but the good supervisors can handle it themselves. After the report is filed, the healthcare company we outsource some of our WC process to faxes HR a copy of the report of injury.

Okay, now that you know that, I was just at the copier/fax making copies of some payroll adjustments (I know, I'm including far too much unnecessary detail here, I just need you to understand how boring my job really is ), and I picked up a fax that was on the machine. It was a report of injury for worker's comp. Well, my heart always drops when I see those because we have employees working pretty dangerous jobs that could potentially result in very serious injury and even death. So, when I see the reports, I worry about my employees' wellbeing (I swear that's my main concern) but this time I also worried about how much paperwork and what type of potential employee-injury crisis I'm going to have to deal with on Christmas Eve Eve (I know, so selfish :ohwell:). So, I'm standing at the fax/copy machine, reading this report. And then I nearly died laughing. A FREAKING PAPER CUT!!! We seriously just had an employee file worker's comp over a paper cut! SERIOUSLY? But the report of injury isn't the most ridiculous part -- the most ridiculous part is that THE EMPLOYEE LEFT WORK TO GO TO THE DOCTOR for "treatment" for their paper cut. A PAPER CUT. I really can't believe it. I have 3 paper cuts on my right hand right now. I didn't know I should be getting free medical treatment on my company's behalf for them. Silly me just washes them out & puts anti-bac ointment on them (if that!). So, I took the report of injury to my supervisor & handed it to her waiting anxiously to see the look on her face when she got to the part about the injury being a paper cut. It was priceless, but the best part was when she very literally gasped for air when she saw the employee had gone to receive medical treatment.

    Oh, made my day.

Jib- that is too funny. The company i work for process work comp claims from pharmacies, so i see some pretty silly injuries (along with the bad ones, and I do too feel bad for these people), but i think that is the lamest work comp claim I have seen.

Alright folks. For those of you who may be as in the dark as I was about electric kettles, THEY ARE AWESOME. I discovered them while trying to find a gift for someone (I tend to look for things that I want and then assume other people want them, too. ). After visiting a few stores, I found them for $12 at Big Lots (OMG, what a steal!!). Needless to say, I bought one as a gift and another for myself to take to work (that's how the holidays work, right? One for you, one for me?).

Not only has this amazingly simple little appliance renewed my love for hot tea this morning (which I've discovered is an amazing appetite suppressant), I can use it for so much more! Things that I will be making with my electric kettle at my desk at work in the very near future -- oatmeal, gourmet coffee (my french press will soon be joining my electric kettle on the shelf here), hot chocolate, soup, ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES BOILING WATER! I didn't know I could be this excited about boiling water.

Anyway, like I said, I didn't know these things existed, but they're very green/efficient and extremely useful -- home or office.
Can you tell I'm bored at work today?

Like lildebbie, I too used one of these in college - I used to make mac n cheese in mine (oh so healthy!). One perk I have at my office is they have a hot water dispenser so I live off of tea. But they took our microwaves and toasters away after one to many fire alarms caused by metal in the microwave. We here all scolded and now have to walk to the cafeteria to use a microwave. I suppose we can use the exercise.

I'm doing fine in calories today - I splurged on lunch and had the chicken teriyaki with half the amount of rice. It's normally 420 calories - and I added a side of broccoli (60 calories). YUM. I've been trying to eat my lunch with chop sticks to slow down my eating process.

Yeah, my bf said "I can't believe you lived in a dorm for a whole year and you've never heard of an electric kettle!" What can I say, I had a microwave instead.

hey Jib is a whisling tea kettle the same thing as an electric kettle? I have that because i always forget the water on the stove so my DH bought it so i use it to boil water for rice, pasta, soup...anything that requires boiling water.
About the tea, did you ever try tea with ginger, mint, or spearmint too..( and this might be far out but i also put sage leaves) it's so delish and calms the stomach. every night after dinner that is a must for me and hubby...

the story about the paper cut was too funny...are you still bored? well you occupied my time with you stories... it beats eating...lol

I buy crystallized ginger and pop one into my tea if my stomach is upset. Or eat one straight - it's an acquired taste

I live off of the Stash brand 'Green Chai' I love it because I can drink it hot or cold and it's one of few green teas that doesn't taste too bitter. I drink it with some sweetener but no cream  There is a study out (medical study) that shows if you drink camomile tea with your meal, your blood sugar doesn't go up as high. My husband has type II diabetes so we have been adding camomile tea bags when we make a pitcher of iced tea. It seems to make a noticeable difference if he drinks this with his meals!

An electric kettle is something that you just plug in & it boils water -- no stove top required! The whistling tea kettle is a good idea, though, and is something I definitely need to get for my bf because he *ALWAYS* boils pots of water dry when he's making tea. I'll walk into the house and it feels like a steam room! It's amazing he hasn't burned the whole house down. :ohwell:

I love love love peppermint tea. I had a cup of Ceylon peppermint tea this morning. I think it may be my all-time favorite.
I am still bored, but I think I may get to leave early today. And hopefully I won't have to work my 2nd job tonight .They didn't need half the people working last night but I was one of the few who stayed. So, I'm going to call before I go in tonight and hopefully they'll tell me not to come. I'm pretty much planning on them not needing me at this point so I'll be prettybummed if they tell me to come in.

Man, you guys are seriously bored at work today! ROFL!

jlb - the papercut story was priceless! I had a teacher colleague once that filed worker's comp because she said she got carpal tunnel from syncing her school-required palm pilot! LOL

lildeb - let me know how your daughter is doing with the acting out events. I hope things are settling down for you. Great job at eating out, btw!

Oh yes, and I heard that ginger in tea is very good for your metabolism for losing weight. ???

    Hello everyone,

lildeb, try talking to your little girl. Ask her if something is bothering her. I know that sometimes this could be a cry for attention or her way of dealing with a problem. Set her down and talk gently and let her know that you want to help. Ask her if something is bothering her or if she just needs some of your time. She will tell you and then you all can go from there. Girls are a bit more emotional than boys and tend to require a lot more attention. Good luck

Jlb, I had to laugh at your story then I got irritated realizing it is people like your "paper cut" person or should I say idiots like that who have destroyed our economy because they think everyone owes them something. People have a hard time staying in business because of lazy people like that looking for an excuse to leave work. There is a guy at my husbands work who sued the city because he stepped in a hole while falling over drunk and they gave him $25,000. :noway:

I probably will not be here at all for the rest of the weekend. My hubby  gets off work today and is off until next monday. We will be busy busy busy. Trying to figure out where to put "Santa's" presents. My 16 yo says she can hear us every Christmas eve bringing the presents down the hall to the tree. So we are thinking tonight after everyone is out we will go hide them in the garage so as not to wake any little ones. This is sooooooo fun. We do not put anything under the tree so that on Christmas morning it looks so much more dramatic then it did when everyone went to sleep with an empty tree. Anyways I guess i will weigh in 2 days early.

mstahl, thanks for the camomille suggestion. My hubby is type II diabetic as well. He worries me. He does not try real hard to control his blood sugar. He is about 30 pounds over weight (oh to only need to lose 30:grumble: ) I keep telling him, lose that 30. But he does not want to be bothered. I must confess, he would look pretty hot 30 down. He is hot right now but mmm he would look good.

Happy weight loss ladies. Be prepared momma will be back next week with a vengance. There will be some weight loss finally.

    momma 0% weight loss:ohwell:

Woohoo!! I get to leave work in 10 minutes. And, Momma, you're right, I was irritated by the WC situation as well. I hate it when people are awarded ridiculous amounts of money. When I was a child, my mom and I were at Walmart & they had a parrot for sale who kept getting out of his cage. They had put all kinds of pet food cans on top of the cage in an attempt to keep the bird contained (:frown:). I was standing there next to my mom looking at & talking to the bird and he knocked one of those cans off of the cage onto my head. I was bleeding *everywhere* and still have a scar 20+ years later. What did we get out of that? A washcloth a store employee gave us to soak up the blood. The wrong person could've probably sued for hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars.
