It was nicely done. Check out "The Woman" also, -it think thats the name, it's onNetflix

I've seen it.. i actually felt angry about that one.. i'm not really a feminist but i felt like it was a very demeaning movie for women..
Yea, I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Was it feminist? Was it just thinly velied tourture porn? Idk, but I like that it made me have a response. So much horror I watch and I'm just like "meh"
it depends on the context weather i[m like meh or not.. if there is hidden meaning, i tend to find it.. i don't know if it was just me or not but, i found a distinct lack of feminine power. the man teaching his son his views on women.. the wife's position in the family.. the fact that the woman in the movie is practically a caveman.. it has so many anti feminist undertones.. not even undertones.. just blatant woman bashing! as i said.. i'm not a feminist.. but still a woman and i was pretty effected.
Dunno, I tend to agree with you, but I know some people who, because of the ending, view it as a 'female power" type tale. Again, I like the fact that I saw it a few month's ago, and I'm still talking about it. Good or bad it provoked a reaction so IMO I would recomoned it to others (well a certain type of others -deff. not for everyone!) :)
yeah, i'm of the opinion that just because you kill the bad guy in the end, it doesn't mean you didn't put the negative ideas out there.. it was a controversial film and got very mixed reviews. I guess it just rubbed me the wrong way.. but It got a reaction out of me.. which is something! Most movies i watch don't do that.. so it was definitely good in that respect.

For me it was Lord of the Flies. I'll never forget hearing Simon screaming as the kids were stabbing him to death and the solemn choir boy music that played as he floated out to sea and sunk. I was in high school, and I had to come home after seeing that. My dad didn't understand, which just made it worse.

    Salo, Serbian Film, Cannibal Halocaust

Oh! From the reactions on this thread I am now adding these to my que!

careful.. if i were you, i'd check out the reviews on imdb.. just in case.. a serbin film isn't just a horror movie.. it haunts people.. it's a pretty horrifying thing to put yourself through.. it's what i did.. and i'm glad i did..

Well....for Cannibal Halocaust, the director was hauled into court, bc he was accused of making a snuff flim, and there is ACTUAL real animal torture/death.
Salo....well, I don't even know how to describe that, it's effed up, and just makes you go "Da *kitten*????"
And Serbian Film, it's torture porn and the ending, oh LAWD the ending!

this one has been on my list for a long time.. i have a hard time working myself up to super sacrilegious movies.. with a lot of movies, i wait until i get enough feedback and see if it'll scar me.. then if i think i can do it, i do it.. lol

I was way too young when I watched Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, Child's Play and IT. But these movies do not bother me now.

However, if you have not seen I Spit on Your Grave, I would not recommend it. It is very graphic in showing what is done to this college girl...the rest I could handle.

The movie David didn't scare as much as it disturbed me. It's the one about the father who burns his son to get back at the mother. I did wonder at times if my ex would ever do that....

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the prologue one. I hate the sound of chainsaws and it is exceptionally gory. I cannot sit through gore at all. The worst part was, I was on a date to see that movie and my date wouldn't even hold my hand. He just watched the whole movie with the stoniest face. :noway:

a serbian film can't be just summed up to torture porn.. there is a specific scene with a Pregnant woman and her child.... well.. that makes it something all in it's own category.. and i can't imagine watching something like that..

@kimcalica- i don't know if it will scar you, but if your experience is like mine you'll wonder, "What the hell?!" I mean it's provoking, shocking, disturbing at some points, yet there is something powerful, beautiful and haunting about it. Just what that is.. I am still trying to figure out.
